Wandering through the rows and rows of books he was starting to regret coming to the library, even though it was the summer holiday so he didn't have any work to be doing he enjoyed keeping his mind up to date with the more recent marketing techniques. Which is something he learnt to be on top of at all times, less you give the opposition some room to breathe.
There it was the book he had been searching for, Crossing the chasm. It was described as one of the must have books in the field and a real page turner, which he highly doubted, but then again how could any book which was all statistics and slight mind games be any fun to read, it couldn't is the answer. The only reason he is reading it is to that he doesn't end up like some poor looser at the bottom of the food chain later in life.
Reaching up and pulling the book down he accidentally knocked some other books loose, not many, about 4-5 in total as they fell. It didn't seem like much to see, but in the quiet of the Library it made quite a noise. Muttering a curse he just sighed and made a move to start clearing up the mess.

Selina was walking around the library, mainly because there weren’t many people around to disturb her and it was someplace other than her dorm, but also because she was looking for something good to read other than the lesbian erotica she already had in her hands. She’d eventually just given up and started to read through the book she’d brought with her as she walked around looking for a place to sit. One of the few good things about the hot summers here were that many of the students went home, and she got to roam the school pretty freely without having to worry about bothersome interruptions.
She’d just gotten to the part where the two strangers were feeling each other up outside of the one woman’s apartment when she heard a crash right in front of her. Selina glanced up from her book and saw a young man starting to pick up the books he’d caused to fall over. She briefly studied the titles and saw that they were business oriented before grimacing, “You’re actually willing to read that shit?” she asked as she wondered just who had that much time to waste on numbers and statistics. She was aware of how useful probability was, but she also didn’t find much reason to study that which she didn’t plan on using much later on in her life.
Lesbian erotica was definitely more practical. She could put it to good use now and later. Besides, who didn’t benefit from reading about women and their sexuality? She also didn’t see much reason to get down and help him, as it was his mess. Selina could be kind on the occasions when she felt like it, but right now, she just wasn’t feeling like being a Good Samaritan type. The title had never sat well with her to begin with.

He grimaced when he heard the voice behind him, someone just had to catch him acting like a damn fool didn't they? oh well it could be worse. "I'm only willing to read it now, so that it can help me have a better life." He said without looking at her, continuing to pick up all the books that he had knocked over.
The last one he picked up was centered around probability and the public perception, deciding that it couldn't hurt to give it a once over he added it to the other book he had, finally turning around to see the source of the voice, he saw a pretty good looking girl standing with, some lesbian book? Well each to their own he guessed, seeing as he didn't mind if they are boys or girls he couldn't judge her.
"So what about you, I guess that that book wasn't in the library. And if it was I really should check out that section." He said with a smile, he wasn't really that interested in her truth be told, she seemed to look definitely older than he was, but not by much about a year or two he guessed.

Selina shrugged at his response, “You mean being isolated in the mountains with a bunch of questionable genetically altered humans isn’t the height of society?” she asked with a grin. A better life at what though? She didn’t really want to know. Perhaps he merely wanted to better calculate the probability of whether or not books would fall from a shelf. Selina kept her thoughts to herself, as she wasn’t feeling very confrontational or snarky yet.
Selina laughed as he commented on her choice in reading. “No, unfortunately I’m afraid this library’s a bit more conservative than the woman who gave me this,” she responded with a smirk. “I was hoping they might have something… but,” she shrugged as if to say there wasn’t much she’d expected to find to begin with. “And I would lend it to you, but I’m not sure you’d ever give it back,” she teased. She probably wouldn’t if the situation was reversed.
Selina then looked him over and wondered if he was antisocial, preppy, a combo of both? Doing this type of heavy work in the middle of summer didn’t exactly speak for a healthy social life. Ah well. He probably wasn’t the type to enjoy a quickie in the back of the library either… what a pity.
