Selina was so happy there weren’t many people about today. She’d even left the door open, because she hadn’t heard anybody outside for a while. The air got kind of stagnant when the door was shut anyway, so it was nice to be able to practice in the quiet without having to deal with having a hard time breathing. Selina was even taking some of her time to focus on manipulating water in its liquid form.
She usually only focused on controlling ice, as her first use of her power had involved freezing her own blood, but on the rare occasion that she was actually feeling rather good about life, she focused on expanding her abilities in ways that weren’t inherently violent. Selina lifted about two gallons of water straight from the five gallon bucket in front of her. It was clean cool water and she was tempted to dump it over her own head after how hard she’d been working. Instead however, she levitated it off of the ground and experimented with seeing how high and how far away she could move the mass of water, while still retaining its relative shape.
Selina heard sounds from outside indicating that someone else was using one of the training rooms, but she didn’t mind. The noises were easy to block out and she still preferred the fresh air. Selina was so focused on her task anyway that she wouldn’t have been able to make anything out even if she’d been trying to listen. Selina had actually gotten the water up above six feet and was trying to float it to the other side of the room when she heard someone addressing her.
Selina was so startled she completely lost her control and the two gallons of water collapsed onto the poor person standing in the doorway. “I’m sorry, what did you say?” Selina asked as she tried to keep in a giggle. She wasn’t mean but… she wasn’t the kindest person either.
