Demi stared up at it, trying not to show her awe at the thought that people would actually dare ride such a thing. It stuck up so high in the air, as though defying nature and everything in creation. Likely the common people had built it, though Demi didn't think there would be much in the way of taint attached to the construct. She studied it cautiously, trying not to show her fear.
Just getting up in it would require leaving the ground. The very top of it would put her so far above it that she wasn't sure she could survive the fall. no, that wasn't true. with her power, she could probably kick up enough dust even if she fell from above at speed. But everyone just lined up to this thing like it wasn't anything.
So Demi did too.
Yet she'd frozen in place as she'd gotten close to it, looking up at the large thing with noticeable awe on her face. she swallowed hard, closing and releasing her hands, feeling the dust swirl around her. She heard someone talking, mentioning about how the "Ferris Wheel" looked new this year, but that didn't really make Demi any less nervous either.
Someone tapped her shoulder and the girl actually jumped, whirling, her eyes narrowed. "What?" she snapped, her nerves sending her into the immediate offense. Her hands were already up, glad for a problem that she could solve via punching.

"Whoa dude. Relax." Ryan had ended up behind in line with this psycho chick in front. She mumbled under her breath.
"Like what the hell? All I want is to try using my power around a completely metal ride." She shook her head.
"That aside...you look pretty pale. Are you sure you should be in this line and not...maybe the teacups? The merry-go-round?" Okay she was being an ass, but it was funny. Ryan was going on this thing to test the limits of her powers and this kid looked like she was going on there to prove something.
"I think they probably have an age requirement." Hey this girl did NOT look like a college student.
Relax? Demi looked up at the girl who had apparently dipped her head in Kool-aid and applied makeup with a paint brush. "Uh, you're not supposed to be using powers in public, idiot," Demi pointed out. Even as she said it, the cloud of dirt around her shifted subtly, already reacting to her emotions and mind. That only increased as the older girl kept going, acting more and more like someone who wanted to get punched in the face.
"Wow, you just keep moving your lips, but all I can hear is 'please punch me in my stupid face,'" Demi said with false cheer. Her eyes widened with something like glee and she looked up at the older girl. "Wouldn't that just be awesome? It might even help make you look better!"
Yeah, Demi would definitely rather punch this girl in the face repeatedly than face the fearsome ride. The line was moving around them though, with people giving them looks as if to wonder how many different varieties of crazy the two happened to be.

"Oh don't worry. I know how to use them subtly when I'm in public. No risk of exposure here." At the threat, she raised her eyebrow. And the insults. Oh this girl was just a joy to be around. And Ryan had thought she was bad at social interaction. This girl sucked at it.
"Also, if you punch me in the face I may be forced to rip out any tooth fillings you might have. That's always fun. Or I could always accidentally ram a frying pan from a nearby stall into your head. Or I could wait until you're on the ride and lock the metal bar so you'd have to be on the ride all day because of a malfunction...there's so many possibilities." Hey two could play at the bitchy game.
Subtly? Demi supposed that was possible, she'd done it herself, but she sincerely doubted that someone who looked this stupid knew anything about being subtle. This girl couldn't be begging for attention more if she wore a sign. And her attempts at retorting were laughable: Demi literally let out a harsh laugh.
"Seriously? Fillings? I'm quaking," she said. She didn't know what those were, which meant that she probably didn't have any. "Besides, if I hit you, you aren't going to be thinking about anything besides your broken nose and the blood everywhere," Demi gestured at her nose as though spraying a gush of liquid and let out another laugh. Yeah, this was definitely much easier.
There was still the line to consider, and now Demi definitely wanted to get on the ride. Her reservations were evaporating in the face of her anger. So she just took another step forward. Like a giant metal wheel was that scary anyway: there were old people and idiots and babies on it. If they could do it, then Demi could definitely handle it.

"Or I could always go old school and contact my parents so you couldn't shop in any of the stores my parents own stocks in or have friends in the business. Then again, you probably couldn't afford those stores anyways. And my parents don't have connections at any burger places." She arched an eyebrow and crossed her arms.
"Also, if you were to punch me I could most definitely arrange a top notch lawyer. And believe me I would. You wouldn't be able to even shop at Walmart after my parents' attorneys were done with you."
Ok, so crazy girl just kept going, and Demi had gone from understanding one word in five to understanding absolutely nothing the girl said. Something about going old school and using her parents to threaten her. Demi didn't really get it, but she did get one thing: the girl was using mommy and daddy as shields. Yeah, she definitely wasn't worth Demi's time, that was for certain.
Feeling pretty psyched about the whole thing, Demi just strode forward, completely ignoring the girl and her babble about Walls and marts and more about how very important her parents were for whatever reason. Demi was already digging into her pockets for the stuff she'd been given to hand over in order to get access to the rides. She figured she'd just hand that over, slide on, and get through this. Then she could tell everyone back home that she'd rode on the giant metal wheel. Yeah, totally badass. She was already grinning fiercely at the thought of it.

She proceeded through the line. Hey she still wanted to ride this thing even with the bitch in front of her in line. And then she reached there, gave the stuff to the guy and he gestured for her to take a seat.
"You gotta be kidding me. Next to HER? Psycho crazy bitch?" Yes, Ryan Queen of Crazy thought this girl was certifiably nuts. She sighed and sat down, the bar getting put down. Whatever. She was surrounded by metal and therefore had the upper hand already.
The line took longer than Demi would have liked, but at least she was still going onto the thing. She tried not to shake as she walked toward the huge metal wheel and all. There was a fair amount of dirt around, at least enough that if Demi fell out (which she was seriously thinking was a higher possibility than they probably would tell her) she'd probably be able to soften it enough to not do too much damage.
"Huh, that's weird," Demi said, looking around. "I don't see another you sitting here,' she looked up at Ryan and smirked. Yeah, let the girl make her crazy threats again. Daddy and Mommy weren't up there to protect her, and Demi was pretty certain she could beat her even when sitting down. Wasn't like she wasn't covered in her fairly standard layer of dirt and grime and the other girl's eyes and mouth were like, right there beside her.
Demi was more interested in the metal wheel than the crazy woman that they'd put next to her for whatever reason .She watched it, wondering if they were moving it with machines or if there were mutants involved. did this count as being Tainted? It didn't feel like it would. This whole place kind of felt like something that her clan would have loved to be a part of...

"I do have a twin, but he's a boy so that's a no go for another me. Unfortunately for you there's only one of me. Jared would get a kick out of this though." She gripped the metal bar they lowered to keep them in. And then the metal bent a bit.
"We're surrounded by metal. Your bravado is interesting, but it doesn't matter all that much to me. See, I couldn't care less what other people think of me. And if you bug me, I have no qualms about hurting you. Why should I? You're being a bitch. However, you aren't pretending to be something you're not, and you're treating me the same. So somehow you've also gained my respect. Weird, that."

Twin? what did twin have to do with a copy? Did this girl even think before she said stuff, or did the stupid just keep pouring forth?
Apparently the latter, as the girl kept going, insisting that they were surrounded by metal. Yeah, really hard, really solid metal. What was she gonna do, hit Demi with the bar across her lap? Seriously? And she was going to do that before or after she choked to death on the dirt and grime and what not?
"I'm not a female dog," Demi offered, giving the girl another "you're an idiot" look before turning back. The ride adjuster had finished and things were starting to move. Demi wrapped her hands around the bar, tightening around it, getting ready to brace and hold on, just in case the thing tipped over or something.

"Oh you must get TOP marks in biology. Little genius you are." Ryan rolled her eyes and chuckled. Despite it all, this girl was interesting. That was pretty much the closest she got to being friendly with someone. Yes she was very intriguing. And then Ryan felt the tightening of the hands and the nervousness from the other girl. Ryan's hand was on the metal bar after all. The feeling reverberated through her hands.
"There's no need to be nervous you know. It's a very carefully built machine. Of course, I could remove one bolt and it could be compromised. And unlike so many at Bellefonte, those pesky morals don't stop me from doing that. But all you have to do is acknowledge me. That I might be okay. All you have to do."

Top marks in... no she didn't. Demi assumed that had to be some kind of sarcastic comment, which appeared to be all this bright haired girl was capable of doing. Well, either that or talking about just how awesome mommy and daddy were doing. Demi looked away again, instead focusing on the ride, which had been what she'd really been looking forward to challenging. The thrill of it was starting to...
...and now the other person was talking again. Demi let out a sigh of frustration, rolling her eyes toward the sky. Like the idiot would remove a bolt. Anything she'd do to hurt Demi that way would end up hurting her too, and she'd likely end up in that special mutant jail they keep threatening to put Demi too. That was assuming that Demi didn't do her duty as a Security Squad member and punch her till she shut up.
"Just shut up already: I'm trying to enjoy the ride," Demi said, nearly through gritted teeth, before she focused back on the large wheel, which had now clicked into place and started moving.

"Trying to enjoy the ride..." She arched an eyebrow and smirked, looking at the girl gritting her teeth.
"So is it working yet? I could always lift the bar and do it in such a way that it would look like a spring malfunction of the ride. That's always possible." She shrugged.
"A trapped audience is too much fun not to take advantage of. I just can't not talk to you. Because you have to put up with me until the end of the ride." She couldn't help but snicker.

Was punching someone really that much of a bad thing? Especially if they were someone like this girl, who was practically demanding to be punched with each word that fell from her lips. Demi growled in response to the comment and talk about lifting the bar. "And I'll gather up some dirt and just land mad," she snapped back through gritted teeth. They were still moving in the circle, mostly upward, and it was unnerving Demi enough that her grip was tightening.
Demi rolled her eyes. "you keep talking and I'm going to hit you till you stop," she replied. Just as she was about to say or do more, however, the ride jerked to a stop. Demi gripped the bar tight and immediately glared at her co-rider, figuring that the girl really didn't learn the first time. She had no way of knowing that the machine was simply pausing to give people a view. That was part of the "charm" of the Ferris Wheel, after all.
