Who could be this stupid? Nico looked down at the plant, a relatively familiar one, and had that thought running dominant through his head. he held up his hands to rub at the leaf, pinching it just between a few fingers and studying the texture carefully. Yes, definitely what he thought it was, and someone had actually... had actually thought they could get away with this.
Someone was growing pot in the greenhouse.
Nico let the leaf fall and looked down the row of plants. Yes, row, because whatever idiot had decided to grow this out in the open had decided that they needed at least a row. Nico's brain automatically worked out the possession charges, tallying up figures and adding a few years per plant. Someone would have a hell of a fine, that much was certain.
And the ex-criminal stood amongst it, sighing and running his hand through his hair. he pulled it back and looked to the plants, once more finding that he'd encountered something illegal and had no idea what to do with it. How the hell did this even keep happening? Were all the mutants here just stupid? Did Nico have the worst luck? Was Fate fucking with him? Or had word just gotten around that everyone should head to Nico. Oh, hey, he won't snitch. Not good old Nico Martell.
"which is how I got behind bars in the first place," Nico mumbled. He turned to go, and nearly ran into someone else. He stopped, looked up at them, then jerked a thumb behind him. "Row of pot."

Selina had been walking back to her dorm when she thought she saw a familiar face in the greenhouse. She made her way inside and laughed as she almost ran into him. “You think the teachers are keeping it around for… medicinal purposes?” she asked with a smirk as she looked behind him and sure enough, there was a row of pot being grown in the greenhouse. How had they even gotten this far without any of the staff noticing?
She’d have thought the cat that liked to spend time here would have brought it to the school’s attention by now. Selina grinned as her eyes flicked back to Nico. It was always good to see him and she truthfully didn’t give a damn about the pot growing behind him. “Or are you starting a new business? Because really Nico, there are better ways to go about this than getting your supply from the school itself,” she teased as she leaned against the table behind her.
He looked as good as ever and Selina was suddenly happy that she didn’t have anything to do for the rest of the day. Or at least, not yet. Selina absently wondered if the teachers would automatically assume the two “troubled” students were responsible for the foolishness behind Nico and had a sudden desire to leave the greenhouse. “You want to not hang around the greenhouse while that pot is in plain view?” she asked as she glanced around for anybody else who might be around.

There were definitely teachers around here who needed pot, that was for damn sure. Nico was tempted to say as much, but, as per usual, remained silent and just smiled again. He certainly didn't mind running into Selina again either. Always fun to run into someone when you could quite vividly recall what they looked like naked. Plus, he was definitely glad to have run into someone who's instinctive response to seeing him with pot wasn't to assume he made it.
No, when Selina even hinted at that, it sounded so much like a tease that Nico even laughed and shook his head. "I wouldn't put the plants in plain sight," Nico said, jerking his head toward them for a moment before turning. "At least put the plants behind the building." Or at least somewhere that a person just wandering in wouldn't practically run into a table of pot. Nico stared at the plants, still shaking his head.
"Kind of want to burn it," he admitted, looking it over. "Or take some..." well, now that he knew that the person who'd shown up wasn't going to turn him in. Nico turned to look around for a moment. this wasn't like when he'd found the stash in the student lounge: teachers and snitches didn't generally hang around the greenhouse. Plus, it had been a while.

“Well, it’s good to know I can count on you to be sensible if I ever need to hide pot,” she joked as she approached the plants ending up standing next to him, and looked down at them in sheer amused bewilderment. Who on earth? Maybe one of the students had convinced the teachers that they needed the plants to help with “research.” Which teacher would be dumb enough to believe that… a certain young and childish teacher popped into her head, and Selina barely kept back a shudder.
Selina laughed outright when he mentioned burning it, “And have the teachers and every passerby see the smoke and come running? Maybe I shouldn’t trust you to hide my drugs after all,” she teased as she grinned up at him. “But if we take some, whichever authorities find this first will just assume that the person growing these plants did it, so… perhaps that might not be such a bad idea,” she admitted with a smirk.
“Otherwise, it’ll just go to waste,” she added with a small sigh, as if she actually cared what would happen. Selina then glanced back at the entrance of the greenhouse, just to double check and she didn’t see a soul. “If we wait for too long, we’ll be inviting trouble,” she offered with a wink.

"Yeah, because they'll be running through the pot smoke," Nico pointed out, again looking into the greenhouse and considering. He wasn't even quite sure where the reflex was coming from: he normally stayed away from trouble. He was again reminded of the fact that despite his repeated promises of that, he kept winding up near people, girls especially, that seemed to encourage the troublemaking tendencies he had within. Hell, Selina was already pointing out that whoever saw the missing pot would likely blame it on the grower instead of a pair of relatively random students. Again: not like this was in public.
"I'll watch out," Nico offered, smiling wryly and jerking a thumb behind his shoulder. "I got practice," which was something of an understatement. Nico couldn't quite recall if he'd actually told Selina all that. Probably not, given that he wasn't really one to talk or pry and he didn't really have much reason to share that particular tidbit with most anyone. Let them think of his past whatever they would, especially if it ended up working more to his benefit.
He shifted, looking around with a practiced eye. Definitely no one around now, but like Selina said: they needed to hurry if they didn't want o invite more trouble. Just needed to look like they belonged...

Selina laughed and watched him for a brief second, “I hope you have someplace to store this while it cures. Or were you planning to sell it? We won’t actually be able to smoke it for about a month or so, you know,” she offered with a smirk. Smoking pot right off the plant was a good way to cough up a lung, get headaches, and a nasty taste in your mouth, as she’d seen firsthand from a dare gone wrong. She’d also need rubber gloves if they were serious about this. The resin on those plants was devilishly hard to wash off, though she’d heard good things about the usefulness of olive oil.
Selina then looked Nico over, wondering just what he’d intended to steal the pot for. She didn’t mind being the one to harvest it, she just needed him to be aware that it wasn’t her dorm room that would be storing the drying plant, if that’s what he even intended in the first place. If not, then she was interested in finding out just what exactly it was that he had in mind. “Unless you have other plans?” she asked as she studied him.
He had practice, huh? There was an interesting story there, but not one that she’d pry to figure out. If he ever wanted to tell her about it, he would in his own time. Selina was never one to pressure people, so she merely nodded to him with a half-smile as she started to look for gloves she could borrow.

"Did not know that," Nico admitted, looking down the rows of pot. So it needed curing first? That did make sense. Nico had just assumed that fresh meant more potent, but he trusted Selina's experience on this. That did offer up the intriguing question of where to dry the stuff out. A dorm room wouldn't work out very well, but... "We'll find a spot," Nico said. He was already considering a few.
He really should have planned it better, especially given his record and likely Selina's as well. once again his internal logic voice was screaming at him, demanding that he actually stop and make some sense of this whole thing instead of just lurching forward. That didn't stop him from taking the stand and watching as Selina went in behind him.
Where would they dry it? There were plenty of places in the school if you knew what to do. Nico tilted his head over his shoulder, considering asking. Then he thought better: best to remain quiet and just casually keep lookout. They'd discuss what to do after they got the pot. Stopping to discuss was how idiots got caught, and Nico had no intention to be either an idiot or someone who got caught.

Selina nodded to him, “If you have someplace warm and dry where you can hang the cut stalks up, that’d be great,” she offered while quickly getting down to business. Going to school with a bunch of so-called delinquents in Santiago had definitely had its benefits… If this could really count as a benefit for someone trying to turn their life around. Selina shook her head at her own thoughts as she pulled on the rubber gloves she’d found.
She cut down enough of the stalks so that her backpack would be full, but not so many that the plant would be crushed, wrapped them in newspaper to prevent them from getting the inside of her backpack sticky and smelling like weed, and then carefully placed them in her backpack. She worked fast and she didn’t waste time in looking around to see if anybody was coming thanks to Nico watching her back. It really made things go so much smoother when you had a partner.
She then zipped up her bag and casually threw it over her shoulder before walking up to Nico, “Ready to head out?” she asked with a grin. She could always do the rest of the prep once they were out of sight, and she was eager to get out of the greenhouse and away from any potential snitches or teachers. Of course, if Nico decided to turn on her… she hadn’t considered that. Selina studied him briefly wondering if the thought had crossed his mind or not.

Man, she was really on the whole having a place thing. Nico was tempted to offer up a location picked nearly at random: he hadn't exactly been at the school long enough to know all the various ins and outs. However, as usual, he held quiet. She was already well on her way to getting a few stalks, and that was enough for him. They could worry about the other stuff later. For now, Nico stood lookout.
It did occur to him, while he was standing there waiting, that he was literally doing what had gotten him thrown into prison in the first place. Sure, the "criminal" was an attractive friend instead of a family member and family friend, but it was more or less the same thing. Hadn't Nico learned by now? Well, yeah, he had, and he'd learned that this was stupid and that he really didn't give a shit if they got caught. It was just pot. Plus, they weren't going to get caught: Neither of them would rat and chances were whoever planted the stuff would be the one to get busted instead.
Selina came back. Nico nodded at her, before shoving his hands into his pocket and beginning to casually stroll away from the greenhouse. "Closets here are pretty big, aren't they?" he asked, musing aloud. He really should have thought up a better plan than this and was so kicking himself. If he didn't feel pretty damn excited, he'd probably have suggested they turn around and throw the stuff into the bushes. But, well, it did smell like good stuff...

Selina laughed when he mentioned a closet, “Your closet? Or you know of someone else’s we could use?” she asked with a dark glint in her eyes. Now there would be an interesting use of their stolen goods. Did she have anybody she hated that much yet though? Not really. Except for maybe Charity or the twins. Charity probably wouldn’t get in too much trouble, but the Emory brothers… Selina shook her head at her own thought process. It really wasn’t worth the risk at this point.
Selina looked around her, “There any rooms not currently being used by the school?” she wondered aloud. If he was serious about using a closet though, she would be fine with that, she was just curious as to whose closet he’d be filling with the aromatic herb she held in her bag. She personally didn’t mind not having a plan, as it’d been a split second decision anyway, so what kind of plan could there really have been anyway.
Besides, sometimes the best ideas were completely spontaneous… though she would readily admit that the worst ideas could come the same way. She noticed a teacher coming their way, but she didn’t really care or pay much attention. Unless the teacher was an exception to the rule, they’d most likely be ignored like all the other students walking by, so why worry about it?

Nico was tempted to continue to suggest his closet but, well, it did occur to him that drying weed in a closet was a good way to get all your clothing to smell like the stuff. it didn't take too much more to realize that such a thing was probably not a brilliant idea.
Unlike Selina's next one. That had Nico raising his brows. "That would work," he said, staring at the herb for a moment, considering. "There's a few classrooms that aren't being used... and there's that renovation going on. I think there are some empty dorms too..." which meant that they could just put the weed in a dorm, use the closet like he'd planned, and not get caught. Nico looked over at Selina, quirking a brow up and smiling. He was fairly certain that sounded like a low risk, high reward plot if he ever heard one, and that said reward would happen to be a drug was only an added benefit as far as he was concerned.
Post by Selina Taylor on Sept 5, 2015 22:06:06 GMT -6
Selina grinned at the new information, "The empty dorms sound fantastic," she admitted as she held out her hand for him to lead the way, "That way I don't have to worry about losing the weed to some overly curious cat doing an inspection," she teased. Would part of her have been worried for Nico if he kept the weed in his dorm? Yes, particularly with his record, but she would never say so. Selina was far more protective of people than she ever let on but she couldn't help it. She also knew it was an obnoxious trait, which is why she kept quiet about it.
Selina looked up at him, "Though, now that I think about it, there are quite a few interesting uses for empty dorms and classrooms," she mentioned with a suggestive smirk. She wasn't exactly in the mood to fuck right that moment... but she could be. Selina knew her body well, and she could easily get herself to where she wanted to be. One of the good things that came from using sex as an escapist technique, she supposed.

Nico nodded, glad that they'd come to some sort of decision regarding the weed. He glanced again into the building, wondering if, since no one appeared to be showing up, he should just duck in and pull up a few more plants. It wasn't like the drug-sniffing cat would just magically appear and start making demands, though Nico had heard he liked to hang about the greenhouse.
He felt her gaze on him and turned to look. Yeah, he recognized that smirk and met it with a grin of his own. "Let's hide the weed first," he said, pointing at it. Then he jerked his head toward the dorms. His body soon followed. Well, now he had a bit more incentive to get this done in a hurry, and for a change, Nico actually moved with some speed and purpose.
Post by Selina Taylor on Sept 8, 2015 19:53:31 GMT -6
Selina smiled at his comment and nodded her agreement, "Sounds good to me." The way he suddenly seemed to pick up the pace had her slightly amused, but she couldn't exactly pretend like she wasn't looking forward to it either. Any chance to ignore responsibility for while and have a good time was a plus in her opinion. Of course, the fact that there was slight adrenaline in her veins from having stolen something illegal helped get her mind and body to where she wanted it to be.
Stealing weed wasn't all that exciting, but it wasn't something she did every day either. Selina wondered why she was deliberately endangering her already shitty record, but then decided not to worry about it too much. She wasn't one for analyzing her own actions, as it often led to thoughts she didn't particularly care to focus on. Besides, wasn't smoking a good joint a fair reward? Wasn't that motive enough?
Selina opened the door to the dorm building and paused, "So, I'm not entirely sure exactly where we're going," she admitted.
Post by Nico Martell on Sept 8, 2015 20:24:03 GMT -6
Yeah, Nico probably could've figured that Selina had been amused by his whole picking up the pace thing. He thought he knew her fairly well, possibly more than most. Sure, there were all the rumors about her apparently sleeping around, but Nico flat out did not give a crap. So what if she did? Wasn't like there was a morality police around. And he certainly hadn't stamped her ass with his name or something along those lines. Hell, Nico wasn't even sure he thought commitment worked. He'd much rather just keep what they had going going.
So it was head toward the dorms. They'd hit the building and Selina paused. Nico looked to her as she spoke, but he almost had to chuckle at her statement. "The construction," he said, pointing at the tail end of the building near a certain wing. "Or, well, it had been there," he nodded. "So that's probably where they're all abandoned."
He actually knew that for a fact, having gone there a time or two between classes to chill and avoid his roommates. He moved forward, taking the lead, figuring that since he clearly was the one who knew where they were going, it only made sense for him to be ahead.
