Let it Burn

    Selina made her way through the expensive rack of clothes wondering how on earth she was going to convince herself that owning any of these wasn’t a waste of money. Well, she didn’t really see it as a waste of money, so much as that it was spending money that could be spent on groceries or rent instead. She still hadn’t yet gotten out of the penny-pinching mindset that had been such an incredibly large part of her life until now.


    She probably never would, if she were honest with herself. Gabriel had taken her out shopping and she couldn’t believe it. The fashionista side of her was going ballistic in happiness because she never got to buy new clothes. Never. But now, here she was at a mall, and being told to do just that. It was such a weird feeling, but she told herself to just enjoy the good things that came her way. And why shouldn’t she? She’d been through enough shit. She should be able to appreciate the fact that she was here right now without feeling guilty.


    Selina paused as she thought she saw a familiar face outside of the shop… Jimmy? Selina made her way out of the store and approached him from behind before tapping his shoulder, forgetting momentarily that she was already there with someone else, “Hey, what are you doing here?” she asked with a smile. “Looking for a key to those handcuffs?” she teased with a laugh. She was so gonna get him back for that little stunt… even if she hadn’t minded in the slightest.

With the whole summer thing and not being forced to go to class Jimmy had a lot of free time. What better way to spend to his night than casing the place? He was admittedly finding something that Selina would like and then he saw her. Obviously he had to go over and say hi but he was trying to make it seem like he wasn't. He knew that there was a no feelings rule and he was sticking to that. Besides he wasn't the type of person that should have serious relationships. He was too violent and criminal. He was just waiting until he could creak from the school and go back on the run.


Jimmy turned around when she tapped him on the shoulder and smirking "Actually, I was thinking about some straps instead. I saw these really comfortable ones in the store a few doors down." He said laughing, he didn't really care if she had came with someone. Though he'd be a bit disappointed he could steal her away for some fun...in the bathroom. He wondered if she would even do that, it was thrilling.

    Selina laughed, “You romantic devil. I swear, my heart is fluttering just thinking about what we’ll do with those,” she teased. “Though I do believe it’s your turn to be tied to the bed, if I remember right,” she added as she winked at him. She was genuinely happy to see Jimmy, as he was both incredibly interesting and a fun ride in the sack. She loved the fact that he was willing to be a little experimental with her. Even though she loved sex as it was, she also greatly enjoyed pushing her own limits.


    Selina paused as she remembered Gabriel was with her and glanced up to look for him. She simultaneously realized that running off and leaving him alone in a store was incredibly rude. Shit, she really needed to work on her manners. But then, he was just using her anyways, so did it really matter all that much? Selina wondered if he’d be angry that she’d been so callous or if he was the type to not give a damn. Shit, she might have even been beneath his notice, had he even noticed she was gone?

Gabriel was sitting in a semi-expensive store waiting for Selina to pick out clothes she wanted. He was pretty sure that there were better stores to shop at but he was dealing with being stuck in a small town. Still he was surprised at the amount of good clothing they had, still shopping wasn't something he was particularly fond of unless it was for cars or tech stuff. He was on his phone emailing some employees about the upcoming meeting and things they were going to need to go over.

He did notice when Selina walked away but he didn't say anything, she was obviously allowed to have friends. Still he didn't just want her to walk away and leave him sitting in a woman's clothing store. "Are you done here? Im not sure if you want to get stuff here or try a different store." He walked over and leaned against the door frame of the store. There was no need for him to be jealous, because he wasn't technically with her.

    Selina smiled up at him, grateful that he wasn’t angry with her for suddenly leaving him alone, “I’m done for now, I think. Thank you,” she responded genuinely. She would look at a few other stores first and see what was the least expensive, as she still couldn’t help but be cost conscious, particularly when someone else was buying for her. “And Gabriel, this is Jimmy. He’s a friend of mine,” Selina looked to

    Jimmy and indicated Gabriel, “Jimmy, this is Gabriel, also a friend.” She wasn’t entirely sure what other word to use as she was almost certain business partners was bit too formal at this point. Selina almost laughed as she realized that both of them were probably smart enough to piece together just what being a friend of hers meant for the other.


    “Sorry for leaving you Gabriel, I just wanted to catch him before he passed by,” she explained with an almost bashful expression. Selina was almost never apologetic, but she also placed a very high value on being polite to those who hadn’t been rude to her, and she wanted to be considerate of Gabriel. Her stomach growled slightly as she realized she hadn’t had dinner yet. “Do you guys want some food?” she asked, looking to the both of them. She wasn’t sure if Jimmy wanted to stay, or if he was just passing through, but she definitely wanted to include him if he was willing to spend some time with her.

Jimmy waved at the guy and stuffed his hands in his pocket. He suddenly wasn't so sure that he wanted to say to her anymore. But it was too late for that and he sucked up the aggravation he felt about the guy being around when he was hanging with Selina. He knew that Selina wasn't his but that didn't mean he wanted to share her when he was around her. However considering she was technically with guy first he nodded when Gabriel waved back and then back to his phone. If he was gonna do that the whole time, he didn't even see why Selina was hanging out with him.

He ignored the apology that was none of his business, but the mention of food got his attention and he nodded and followed Selina to the food court. "So where did you find the stuff on the phone?" He asked looking back to the man glued to his phone snickering. Okay maybe he was a bit jealous but he was gonna play it off to the very end.

    Selina grinned at Jimmy’s question grateful to be talking to somebody whose interest wasn’t solely in an electronic device, “In the park, laying down all on his lonesome… Poor guy. So I thought to help cheer him up a bit,” she replied with a smirk. “And then we ended up in a business arrangement that’s placed us here shopping for clothes,” she added with an almost confused expression. How the hell did she manage to get herself into these situations?


    “Anyway, I’m glad you’re here,” she admitted with a smile. “So, what do you want to eat? I’m starved,” she admitted. “Shopping for clothes always makes me hungry,” she added with a laugh. Gabe seemed far more interested in his phone than he did in the conversation, so she didn’t feel too guilty about talking solely with Jimmy for now. Besides, their relationship was one of pure business. The poor guy was probably bored out of his mind, having to tag along as she shopped. Selina almost felt guilty for being so happy to see Jimmy when she was with someone else, but… Gabe could always join in if he felt like it, or stay on his phone if he was more comfortable that way.

Gabriel was paying attention and he figured that Selina and her "friend" could have a better time without him interrupting things. Besides, the other boy seemed to be younger than him. What would he want with someone who was obviously not even a college student. When they got to the food court he looked towards Selina putting his phone in his pocket. He looked around at the different restaurants, it seemed that malls were the same in most places.

"What do you want to eat, Ill go get it?" He said more than willing to leave her alone with the boy. He didn't want to watch her flirt at all, it wasn't on his list of things to do unless she was flirting with him. Sure he had no reason to be jealous, but he didn't ask her out to the mall for her to pay attention to some little boy.

    Selina glanced up at him and smiled, “Anything is fine with me, though McDonald’s sounds good,” she added as she thought about it. “I’m super simple. Chicken nuggets and fries are good with me,” she added with a shrug. She didn’t often like eating fast food, but she found the simpler she kept it, the better luck she had. Selina briefly felt guilt gnawing at her once again as she realized that Gabe was probably feeling somewhat left out.


    She consoled herself with the fact that he could always butt in whenever he wanted. “Though, if you’re up for something else, I’m flexible,” she added honestly. She glanced to Jimmy to see what he would do. She doubted Gabe was willing to pay for both of their meals, and she’d never ask it of him. She briefly thought about going with Gabe to get the food, as it would be polite, and allowing Jimmy to pick up whatever he wanted. But she wasn’t entirely sure what Jimmy planned either.
