For most of the night Vera found herself sound asleep in a bed that had come to be far more comfortable than her own. Sleeping with her girlfriend had been Vera's choice for the past couple of night. While there were nights she had to sleep alone in her own dorm, Vera had gotten so used to Devyn being right there when they slept and now it had almost become some sort of a comfortable habit. There were nights where she had to be assigned a night to stay up, for security purposes then there were nights where she didn't have to worry about anything; This was one of those nights.
Within the middle of the night Vera's dreams had became more... detailed. It caused her to shift in her sleep every now and then, not fully conscious to realize that it may or may not have been bothering her girlfriend. While it started off slow, her body would react to her current dream. A very small flinch here, talking in her sleep there, fingers twitching and eyes reacting underneath her closed eyelids.*
"Vera Milan Marcello. Don't you dare walk away from me when I'm talking to you." A built man, tall, half Colombian and half African-American, known as an important man among his military family, who had the skin shade of mulatto, light eyes and had a very stern look to him. Almost wishing the younger girl before him would walk away while he was speaking to her. "Are you out of your damn mind, child? It's nearly four in the morning and you're just now stepping inside this house." A younger version of Vera stood before him, somewhere around the age of thirteen, with her back turned to her father. She was more than fed up with him coming at her. "At least I came home tonight. If I woulda known you'd have such a fit, I woulda stayed over Jay's."
He scoffed, his furrowed brows deepened. "You have the nerve, little girl. You have the nerve. When I tell your ass to be in by eleven, you abide by what the hell I tell you! Your mother has been worried sick. You need to start thinking about how your need to act like you don't have common sense is affecting everyone else in this house or I'm going to have to make some moves, and you're not going to be happy. Do you hear me?" Her father gestured his finger towards the ground, "You look at me when I'm talking to you!" Vera turned to face him. Her face had shown a lack of obedience, and even more she felt the need to be angry. But before she say something, a woman came downstairs and entered the living room. She was smaller, petite, beautiful Korean woman, stepped in the middle of them. "Please, Vera. You two. Ray, stop this, you can talk to her about this in the morning. Everyone is asleep; I'm begging yo-"
"No. Mom, no. Dad wanted to make such a big fuckin' deal out of it, then let's make it a big fucking deal! Right? You want to stand here, act all big and bad and control everyone but the moment you can't control me, you blow a fuse. You'll never control me. Ever. How about that?" Her father cocked a brow, "How about you get the hell out of my house. Right now. You want to stay out there with those potheads and guys who make a living off of doing tattoos. You go right ahead! Keep messing your life up!" But before Vera could say another word, the image of her parents slowly faded away until they were completely gone.
The young, confused and scared image of Vera panicked. They were gone.*
Vera shifted slightly in the bed, still unwoken but talking in her sleep. "...dad."
