One of the P.E teacher had had this wonderful idea that all last weeks classes would be saved up for today, and they'd send the kids out on some stupid orientation trip. They'd paired the students two and two, handed them a map and a compass and sent them on their way. Looking from the map, to the compass and to the boy she was supposed to team up with, Lucy's eyes narrowed as she shot daggers at the teacher.
Sadly, the guy seemed to be used to her attitude and simply shrugged it off and wished them both the best of luck.
Sadly, no amount of trying to sneak away or convincing the teacher how bad of an idea this was had seemed to work, so here they were it supposed. On a freaking Saturday.
Lowering her gaze, she started at the map for a moment before finally, looking back at the guy she'd been paired up with. She studied him in silence for a moment; he looked like one of those kids that simply asked to be punched. One of those annoying fellas that was better off hiding down in some dark ditch or something.
"Let's just get this over with so I can get the fuck outta here," she mumbled under her breath as she pressed the map and compass against the guy's chest with a rough push. Caring little for whether or not he actually took it, she pulled her hand back and slid both of her hands into the front pockets of her hoodie as she started moving towards the path leading to what she assumed was the first post.

Isaac had never given much of a damn about academic pursuits. He'd never regularly attended any sort of school until being forcibly brought to Bellefonte and even then the use of the term 'regularly' could be seen as dubious, at best. When you knew you'd probably not live long enough to see graduation from college, studying just didn't seem to have much of a point. And yet, due to a promise he'd made long ago, here Isaac was in the waning days of the school year attempting to do the 'right' thing and learn himself something.
The only reason Isaac actually took the compass was mostly due to the first thought that usually crossed his mind when handed anything: whether or not he could sell or trade it for anything of value. He looked over it for a moment and then sighed. More than likely he couldn't get away with stealing it from the teacher and he was now doomed to wade his ass through some hackneyed land navigation course with some chick that he just knew was so obviously one big fucking ray of sunshine. The good news here, however, was that among the paltry list of skills and talents Isaac could call upon, walking from one place to another without getting lost happened to be his specialty.
He stayed quiet at first, letting his eyes scan the terrain around them as he got his bearings. Isaac wasn't wholly interested in the learning, bonding, or whatever the hell it was their teacher had in mind for them, he simply liked be in the outdoors. It made him feel free. As if, on a whim, he could just pick a direction and keep walking until he found something interesting or dropped dead. Whichever came first wouldn't bother him.
When the duo crested a small hill, Isaac stopped. His eyes narrowed and he turned, looking out over the area for a long moment. "Here's the deal." He said, finally speaking up. "I don't want to do this bullshit anymore than you do." Isaac's light blue eyes shifted to settle upon the girl. He was being civil, sure, but he already didn't like her. She just reeked of some suburban bitch that was mad at the world because mommy wouldn't let her go out on a Friday night. "We can either play ball with this stupid, fucking idea and finish as soon as possible. Or, say 'fuck it', head to town and you can go off and do whatever the hell you want." Naturally, seeing as how they were (relatively) in the middle of nowhere and Kalispell was nowhere to be found, even from their elevated vantage point, it seemed as though Isaac had a plan.
When the boy stopped, Lucy almost crashed against his back, but she managed to catch herself and step to the side. Swaying lightly, the brunette issued a low sigh as her hands came up to rest behind her neck. She snapped her gaze to the boy, eyes narrowing as he started speaking. "Whatever," she said as she started forward again. In all honesty, Lucy cared very little for what the boy did or where he went. In fact, he could drop dead in a ditch and she'd likely leave him there to rot.
"Do what you like." In fact, by now, the power mimic had simply been walking around with no intention, goal or plan in mind. She didn't care much for the forests that seemed to shroud Montana like never before. She was used to large, busy cities, and this was clearly far from anything. Even back in Alabama Lucy had lived close to one of the larger cities around.
She'd likely end up finding some kind of tree, sit down, get high and forget all about this orientation shit. After all, what was the point? School was already over and it was obvious she wasn't near graduating, nor would be for anytime soon. Another mark on her list wasn't a problem. It was already stained as it was.
