Bed made? Check. Clean bathroom? Semi-check. Dirty clothes all over the floor hidden away inside the struggling closets? Double check. Bribed roommates who swore to stay away from the room for hours in exchange of cash? Oh, God. He hoped 'Check'.
Tom was staring at every little thing in the room. He'd even deleted his history in his computer for- uh... embarrassing reasons he rather not speak of. So now he had his computer set in his bed. His bed. He smiled sheepishly at the idea of a girl there, even if it was just to watch movies. Allison was a sweet girl, but she was younger than him and not exactly into... stuff, as far as he could tell. Besides, even if a girl who was into... stuff would be there in his bed it didn't mean she'd be into him, right? He'd learned that the hard way. But enough of that.
Okay, so the computer was set, the internet was working, he was already logged into Netflix and he was-
Knock knock.
He felt his heart jump, as well as the rest of his body, when the sound interrupted his thoughts. That had to be Allison. He gulped, rubbing his neck for comfort and took a deep breath. Confidence! Girls liked confidence. And he opened the door, expecting to see Alice there.

Allison was excited, once she had gotten back to the school she had washed her hair, taken a shower and gotten into town to pick up the stuff. She had four boxed of pizza, a bunch of candy and a lot of sodas. She knew that boys ate a lot because she had always heard the old ladies talking about in back home. Once she had gotten back to her room she changed into Pajama shorts and the matching batman top and walked over to Tom's room.
Considering it was a lot of stuff she had taken out her hair so she could use it to carry the stuff. That's exactly what greeted Tom, a super excited Alice with her hair carrying a two bags of candy and a case of sodas. Thankfully a lot of the stuff was in her arms. She smiled at Tom when he let her in. Looking around she could tell her tried to clean up, and it was good enough for her.
She set the stuff down and turned toward Tom "Here's your chance." She said handing him ten dollars because she could not allow him to pay for all of it. They went half, thirty-thirty and because she was kinda of planning to stay there until he kicked her out she had gotten a lot of stuff.
"So, when do you wanna start? I don't really have anywhere to be so i'm free until you kick me out." She said playfully stuffing her hands into the pocket of her pjs.
"Oh- uh... hey!" He stared at her hair and blinked in surprise. "Wow." Tom sent her a smile and stretched out his arms to grab the pizza from her. "That's an awesome power." He mentioned, motioning her to come into the room. "And uh- you looks good now." He flushed, "Not that you didn't look nice before, just that you look good now as well. Because of the Batman shirt- uh," His eyes went down, "And shorts." He turned to her face again, "Not that I'm looking or anything just- uh..." Great! She'd just step in and he'd already blew it. "I mean- we-welcome." He was an idiot. He placed the pizza on the nearest desk and turned to smile nervously at her as she offered him his change.
"Thanks." He said, "Though this feels like too much for us." He blinked down at the four pizzas. He knew he could have one, maybe, but did that mean Allison could eat more than one? That seemed... impressive. He liked it though. Girls often pretended not to enjoy food, which was always odd to him.
Where to start? He gulped. "Oh- uh... well, I set up Netflix." He said, waving at the computer on his bed. "And- heh, I wouldn't kick you out. You could stay forever if you want." Again he winced at his words. "I mean, until you want to leave. Not that I don't want you to stay, I mean, you can! But only if you want to." He rubbed his neck. Why was he so nervous? "So uh... Doctor Who?" He asked after another wince, hoping she wouldn't notice his nervousness, though it was pretty obvious. Give him a break! He'd never had a girl in his room before!

Alice nodded, it was a pretty awesome power. As long as she could actually control it. She giggled at his rambling and waited for him to finish "Thanks I'm glad you approve, you don't look to bad either" She said smiling at him. He didn't either, sure he was different but different was good. At least to her it was, she was still getting uses to the fact she wasn't holed up in the family manor.
"Well, there's enough for us to not need to leave later." She said sitting down on his bed. She didn't know where else to sit so she just scotted back so Tom could sit next to her. She patted the spot beside her just in case he did that cute nervous thing again.
"Forever sounds nice, though we'd have to leave for class and you'd have to clean out a drawer or something for some of my clothes" She said after he calmed down. She was smiling and joking of course. She wanted him to relax because she was no reason for him to Ber nervous. "Okay, that sounds fun"

He didn't look too bad? He looked down at himself, pulling at his oversized shirt nervously. Just a big shirt and pants. He knew she was teasing a moment after. There was no way he looked good. Though too bad wasn't exactly looking good, was it? Not to mention his mutation had left him looking all- He sighed and smiled at her sadly. Better not think of it. At least the sad thought made him forget his nervousness slightly.
No need to leave? He sent a glance at the soda. Well, those would get cold, but maybe he could go buy some more later, once that was gone. "Alright." He said with a smile, turning and freezing on the spot. She was on his bed. Heh heh... heh. He cleared his throat awkwardly and moved to sit on the spot she'd left him, careful not to get too close. Man, this was still close. He could almost smell her! Was that creepy? Ugh. He closed his eyes tightly. He was starting to sound like a pervert, and the next topic of conversation didn't help.
Forever sounds nice? He smiled stupidly at that. "I'll clean a drawer then." He said, and then felt his heart skip a beat. Idiot! Don't go saying stuff like that! Ugh. He was so going to scare her away. "But I think my roommates will complain." Not that he minded dealing with that if that meant having Allison around. Come on! She was cute and didn't seem like she wanted to play some prank on him... right? He gulped. Maybe that was it? He'd had some experiences like that back in Chile...
"Oh- uh. Yes. Doctor Who then." He sent her an awkward smile and moved to search for the series. There it was, though not all the seasons were available. Well, he wouldn't want to watch ALL of it. Wasn't that series a tad too old? Anyway, hitting play and setting back. He moved to grab a slice of pizza, neatly placing it on a napkin and offered it to Allison. "Ladies first." He said lightly, smiling gently. This was so great! It was almost like a date. Only in pyjamas... and not really outside... and they'd split the bill instead of him paying for it. Okay, it wasn't like a date, but a guy could dream.

Alice smiled this was all kind of exciting for her. She'd never been alone with someone without them being approved by her grandmother. Added to the fact that she'd never been alone with a boy before and she felt like she was getting one those TV show teenage experiences.
"Sounds like and plan and we can always just ignore their complaining." She said giggling a bit. It was all kind of funny plotting to move in with some guy. Even if it was just a joke because they would get in trouble probably. Though she'd probably visit him a lot since he didn't seem to mind her being there.
"Aww thanks, you're so sweet" She said taking the slice of pizza. She was glad they were hanging out. It didn't occur to her that it was kind of like a date. Mostly because she thought the guys were supposed to ask. But it would've been infinitely more exciting if it was.

Tom chuckled nervously, "I don't think they'd just complain and I'm not fit to fight them all. Not on land at least." He could on water though. Sadly, they didn't live underwater, but on ground, where he was mostly useless. Hell, he couldn't even run away properly without tripping, let alone keep a girl safe from harm, even if said harm was the wrath of his roommates.
Wait, sweet? He smiled sheepishly, moving to take a slice of his own. Oh great. He was sweet now. Wait, was sweet good? He had no idea. He'd been told girls didn't like 'sweet', rather they enjoyed 'cool', but Tom knew he was anything but cool. He was a freak anyway. Sweet was more meant for a pet. Was that how she saw him? Well, it fit him better...
Tom sent her an awkward smile and settled to eat his pizza and stare at the screen. Some Rose girl and some mannequins and he had no idea what was going on. He knew the overall story of Doctor Who. Some guy who could travel through space and time and always had a human companion. Curious that space people all spoke English. He shook his head. Maybe the US ego came from the English ego.
"This show is odd." He commented, frowning slightly. He was getting slightly bored, but he didn't want to put off Allison. "Is this how it always goes?" He sighed and took another bite of pizza. At least this Rose girl was hot.

"Don't worry about, we can work out the kinks later" Alice said shrugging her shoulders. To be honest she was pretty sure her grandmother would find out about the whole hanging out thing by the end of the week. The lady was relentless and Alice could only mentally roll her eyes at the thought. Back to the matter at hand, Tom and the computer. She was enjoying her pizza and company, he was really sweet and not like the boy back home. They were all stuck up and going on and on about what their fathers did. Like she even cared about any of those things.
"Yeah, it usually starts off confusing and then explains itself. We don't have to watch this if you don't want too. I'm not gonna throw a fit." She said turning her head away from the computer and smiling at him. She seemed to do a lot of reassuring, but she figured he be more comfortable voicing his opinion once they had hung out more.
She scooted closer to Tom, not because she was cold or anything but because she wanted to. It was hard to explain... "You can pick something, maybe we have different taste?" That and the fact they were from different countries might be it. But she was sure they would find something to watch together.

Tom sent her a nervous smile. "No! No, it's fine. I- I can... uh.. endure." Bad word. "I mean, I'm sure it'll pick up later." His eyes were starting to get tired though. He settled to reach for another slice of pizza and take a large gulp of soda to keep himself entertained. He would never dare to tell her he disliked this she loved so much. And maybe it'd pick up eventually.
She scooted closer and he suddenly felt nervous, moving slightly away in response. A girl on his bed moving closer. That was more than he could handle. "Heh, maybe we do." He said nervously. "I- um... I just need to give it some time. I mean, I like the chasing scenes. Action and all." And he liked action alright, hence why he loved superhero movies so much.
"So- uh... How many seasons are there of Doctor Who?" He knew there were a lot but he had no idea exactly how many. Oh, he had no idea.

"Tom, it's okay I really don't mind changing the show." Alice said, she wasn't so sure why he was against telling her that he didn't like the show. It wasn't that big of deal she wasn't going just up and leave. Although she assumed it was because he was so used to people not liking him that it was reflex. She felt like he wasn't that different, he just looked different. THe whole mutant thing seemed like a curse rather than a gift most of the time.
Alice sighed when he moved away, it was understandable. After he had already said he wasn't used to being close or physical contact. Still she couldn't help but want to move closer, it was probably best that she stayed where she was. After all she wasn't trying to be too forward, she just knew that he wouldn't move closer.
"Oh, well there's more action as the season progress." At least she thought that there was, she was kind of biased since she hadn't watched a lot of movies with violence and shootings. Doctor who was as graphic as it got for her but she was pretty sure that was because all of the kids she used to hang out with watched it so her grandmother thought it was okay.
"There are eight seasons, with like twelve to thirteen on hour episodes. So dude we can totally watch something else if you want. I honestly don't mind, Im just glad we're hanging out."
She didn't mind changing it. Tom smiled at her awkwardly. "It's fine." He insisted back. He wasn't even paying attention anyway. Why was she asking that anyway? Did he appear as uncomfortable as he felt? He sat up straighter on the bed, as if that would make a change. Posture meant confidence right? Except now he looked even more uncomfortable. And there! She said it'd pick up. Awesome. He just needed to endure some dull episodes and then he'd- Oh. Eight seasons. Wow... that was- uh, no. No no no.
"I'm that transparent, eh?" he asked in a low voice as she said she didn't mind changing it. Maybe it wasn't even the show, maybe it was the nervousness about having a girl so close. He sent a forlorn look at the screen and sighed. Maybe this had been a bad idea. He felt too out of it, even though Allison was nothing but kind. "I- uh... I want you to have fun though." He said with a low voice, smiling sheepishly. He still stopped the episode though.
"What- uh... what do you prefer doing?" He wondered, "Anything else you'd like?"

Alice was maybe wondering if this had been such a good idea, he didn't seem as if he was having a good time. Maybe it was because she wasn't the right type of person to hang out with him. After all he was all comic books and super hero and she was a classical musician and really rich and snooty. She didn't want to offend him or anything "Kind of, sorry" She said sadly, she could've just pretend to ignore it but that wouldn't have been a good start to the friendship.
"Tomas, lets do something you wanna do, It's no fun if we just do what I want. Maybe Play video games? I don't know boys like video games right? Or we can watch something that you like. I just want to hang out with you." It was true, she folded her legs and put her half eaten pizza near the top of the box. Wiping her hands of she used to turn so she could face her new friend.
She was going to make this work, she didn't know who but she was determined that her and the boy were going to best friends. Determined Alice was a very scary Alice, the boy would see so much of her he'd start seeing her in his sleep.

Tom sighed. "I'm sorry. I-uh... I'm not used to having a girl around." He would've blushed if he could, staring at her with wide, shy eyes. "Or-or anyone really. I don't... um, I don't want to make you uncomfortable. It's just-" He trailed off as he rubbed the gills on his neck nervously, almost unconsciously pointing at the main problem. He just couldn't feel comfortable around anyone because he couldn't stop thinking of how horrible he looked. "I'm sorry..." He looked away from her, wondering if she was going to leave. But then she continued talking and he turned to her in surprise. Do something he wanted to do? Video games?! His eyes widened. That would be fun actually.
"Well.. I- uh, I have a Wii U." He said, staring at her with wide eyes, turning to her, suddenly excited about it. "We could play Mario Kart." He'd seen videos online of friends playing together and having the best of times and he'd always been envious of them. Playing online just wasn't the same as having a person next to you and screaming and laughing and- wow, that would be the best. "Do you want to? We have a tv here. It's not that big and- um... not really mine but we could use it." He grinned then, standing up. "I can set it up in a minute!" He was already pulling the console out of the closet, careful not to let the random clothes he'd thrown in there fall out. He turned to her, smiling awkwardly as the door creaked at the weight, but managed to close it.
"So- uh, do you- I mean, we don't HAVE to, but if you want, we can- Um... you know, play?" He showed her the controls as if that would convince her. At least that would be much more entertaining than watching some English show with bad effects.

Alice smiled and nodded "It's fine, but you just need to remember that if I thought you were weird or too different I wouldn't be here." She would of course remind him as much as she needed to. Why would she want to be friends with him if she didn't think he was cool? Of course she knew that he wasn't used to having friends or have people be nice to him. She also knew that it was mostly because of how he looked. She didn't blame him for being nervous or uncomfortable, she did kind of spring this on him. It was just that she was soo determined to make at least one friend that wasn't all power hungry and stuck up. Like that guy in the cafeteria that one time.
She nodded excitedly she had played Mario Kart before, though it was in the student lounge and the people were kind of sore losers about it but she'd give it try. Besides it had to be better with people you actually knew and wanted to play with right? "Okay, that sounds fun. But you'll have to show me how to play again because I've only played once" She was excited that they could find something to do. It could be like a fun game night instead of a movie night, at least that was her optimistic approach.
"Tom I'd love to play, just relax. I promise there's nothing to be worried or nervous about." she was pretty sure this was new to the both of them. It was the first time people weren't hanging out with her because they were family or their family made them. It was kind of refreshing making a friend by herself...even if it was awkward at first. She was determined to make this work, she vaguely wondered if this was what people in dying marriages felt like.

Tom smiled at her shyly. "Are you sure you have hair power?" He asked, "It's almost as if you're reading my mind." It truly was. She understood everything about him even though they just met. How odd. Then again, no one else had bothered to spend time with him. Maybe he just was that easy to figure out and he never knew because no one had tried before.
"Of course!" He said excitedly, already moving to install the game on the small TV by one of the beds. His roommates wouldn't mind... right? Oh well, he'd deal with any anger later. He had a girl in his room! He had to take advantage of anything at hand. Plus, this was a girl who didn't care how he looked, or even the fishy smell, and she wanted to be his friend.
"Sorry, I- uh. I never had a friend before." He said with a smile. Nothing to be nervous about. He laughed sheepishly "Well... um, you wouldn't think so but... It's- ah, it's kind of a big deal, you know?" He set the console down and moved to offer her a control. "I've never had a friend over, specially not- uh... a girl." He scratched his gills nervously again and forced a smile. "I'm already blowing things with- um... the Doctor Who thing and I- uh. Sorry. I want you to have fun. I just- just don't know how." Well, wasn't he being honest and open? He looked away from her, distracting himself by getting the game started and sitting on the opposite side of the bed from her. Maybe some distance would help settle him down.
