Everett rolled his eyes at her predictable response. "Right, this idiot," he muttered, not fighting her accusation. It hadn't been one of his better moments, he was ready to accept that. On the other hand, he'd probably done worse. With a grin he pressed his lips to hers again, murmuring against them, "If it's you watching me, I won't mind."
He could tell he'd thrown something of a cloud over her mood, and was out to remedy it. He nibbled on her lower lip before pulling away, a thoughtful expression clouding his face. "You know what, I don't believe I've ever asked you out on a date." he mused, raising an eyebrow in mock surprise. He was out to fix that, it just wasn't proper otherwise, and he didn't feel comfortable sullying her without at least making it official.
Everett's eyes widened when Erika traced his scar, then he smiled softly. Leaning his head back into her stomach he assured her quietly, . "I won't die, promise. I'm basically indestructible. And I'm sorry, for everything I've done to you, my dove, I never intended it."

Kissing him back, Erika chuckled, ''Mmm-hm, you say that now,'' she said with a smirk before flicking his nose. Sure, it was easy to keep track now, considering that their dorms rooms weren't too far apart, but what happened if either of them decided to move out? Like, if she decided to go through with her plans to find somewhere else to live. It wouldn't be as easy as either of them to simply run down the hall, and voila. Problem solved.
Peeking up, Erika nodded slowly at his words before smirking, ''No, you haven't.'' she said, stating the ever so obvious. The thought hadn't really crossed her mind either. She was rather content with things as they were and hadn't expected anything more. Really, she would be happy with whatever as long as it meant she got to spend time with him, ''Things like that aren't as important,'' she said again.
Kissing the top of his head, Erika let her hand drop from his arm to the pit of his neck and nodded, slowly, ''I know,'' she said with a smile. She didn't like it when he apologized. Sure, she appreciated it, but she didn't like to see him sad, or feeling guilty. It made her feel selfish, as if she was expecting him to be, ''And you know as well as I do that there's really no need for you to continue apologizing. All is forgiven.''

Everett wrinkled his nose as she flicked it, pouting at the contact. "How bad could one teenage stalker be? If you've had one you've had them all," he informed her pertly with a smirk. "I think I could live with it." Of course the sooner he got out of the academy the better. He'd rather leave than be fired for having sordid relations with one of the heirs to the school. Besides, he'd drag down Erika with him.
Rolling onto his stomach, Everett lifted himself onto his knees and planted both of his hands on the wall behind Erika. While she seemed much more flippant about the matter, it was more important to him. "Erika, will you go out with me?" he asked with feigned seriousness, hoping she'd say yes anyway. "I mean, I'd like to figure out what this is, and I want to do this properly. You know, state my intentions and all that." Sometimes he really could be old fashioned.
Smiling he placed a quick kiss on her nose. "I know. Sorry, it's a habit. I'll work on it."

''Well, let's see.'' she said, tapping her finger against her cheek, ''Bad as in, propped full with countless OCD's, a stubborn mind and the ability rip your head off. I'd say that counts as very bad,'' she said with a vicious grin, ''And don't get me started on all the lists, the alphabetical order and the fright of things that flies. Like bees. God I hate bees.'' Quite honestly, she wouldn't mind being around him all the time, though, for the sake of his sanity it was probably not such a good idea.
Looking up at him, she remained silent until he finished his speech, trying her best to keep a serious face on, though it was fairly hard when he was being as cute as he was. Then again, he was always being cute. It just never seized to surprise her. ''Of course I do, silly. Though, putting it like that, you make it sound a lot more creepy than what it has to be. Would you like to ask my dad for permission too?'' she joked and leaned in to kiss the tip of his nose, ''You truly have an old soul, Everett King,'' she whispered.
''See, you apologized again,'' she said with a laugh, shaking her head as she once more flicked his nose. ''But, since you do - and since I feel as if you deserve it, being all cute - sorry, sexy and all, here goes; I love you, you silly man,'' she said, grinning before a chuckle escaped her lips.

Lifting both hands to cup her neck, Everett smirked. "Yes, but I'd get all that OCD attention to myself, right?" His face shadowed with confusion and he sat up slightly, hiding a smile. "And bees?" While he could understand their lack of attraction, he wasn't afraid of them.
With a woop he collapsed into her lap again, burying his head into her stomach gleefully. "Really?" he asked, voice muffled by her shirt. While only a small part of him had been doubtful of her answer, it was nice to hear her affections confirmed. Even more so than declaring her love. It would look back enough, a teacher dating a student, the least he could do was make sure he treated her properly. "Only my soul is old, dove, but I think we can both agree the rest of me is quite lustrous." Everett teased, risking a peek up at her.
"I did, din't I," he grimaced in embarrassment. Then he shrugged, "My life is made up of 'I'm sorry'. It's like, 'I'm sorry to be here' and I don't want to disturb anyone. You know?" he attempted to explain, though the explanation was properly not the most positive twist on the situation. At this point his constant apologies were completely unintentional habits, it was what he did to everyone.

''Oh yeah, definitely. Down to the smallest details where I alphabetize your books. Oh the horror!'' she said, grinning ever so slightly, ''And bees are horrible,'' she stated matter of factly, before pushing her lower lip out into a pout, ''As are anything with wings that aren't a bird - or a bat.'' She really hated insects that could fly. The ones that couldn't? Not so much. Flying things were murders with wings and they could all die out for all she cared.
Cocking an eyebrow at his sudden childlike-glee, Erika shook her head before resting her palm on top of his head, stroking his skin with the side of her finger. ''Ya, really,'' she said, as if she really needed to confirm it again. ''Keep saying things like that and your head might explode,'' she warned before chuckling.
He was silly. So-so silly.
Tilting her head back against the window tilt, she let her eyes dart over the ceiling before closing them, ''You don't have anything to apologize for,'' she said, the corner of her lips curving upwards, ''Let's leave it at that,'' It made her feel bad, hearing him apologize for thing he didn't need to - especially after she so obviously had forgiven him.
Remaining silent for another few seconds, she listened to the faint chatter from outside. Unable to make out any of the words, she lifted her head again and let her side drop to the bed, once more closing her eyes. ''So, what were you thinking?''

"Then at least I'd be able to find them faster," he assured her warmly, unable to even try taking a negative spin on the situation. She could categorize his underwear for all he cared, if it meant she would be staying around long enough to look. "How about a flying fish?" he teased lightly with a smirk. Though he had to disagree. Bats were gross.
His head was a perfectly acceptable size and she knew it. He just grinned and poked her. Pulling away from her, Ever sat back on his heals and sighed. Running a hand through his messy hair, the man could only grin bashfully. "Alright, I'll drop it." There was no sense in arguing the fact anyway, he wouldn't change. It was hard to drop old habits.
Remembering her present Ever scurried off the bed, patting down his pockets. He'd absentmindedly shoved the jewelry box there after unpacking. He hadn't wanted to put it down and forget it. He tended to lose important things. Everett held it out to her with a queasy smile. "Here."
Of course it held the same ring and necklace set in her birthstone. The chain of the necklace ran behind the felt cushion. When she inevitably pulled it out, tucked beneath the cushion was a small house key that he'd forgotten to mention.

Well, that backfired. In a pleasant kind of way anyways. ''All right, you've been warned,'' she added, flopping her hands down against the bed. And if it did end up driving him crazy, she could always remind him she had warned him. ''Harr, harr,'' she said, glaring. ''As a matter of fact; Yes. Fish are meant to stay underwater, not in the air.'' she pointed out.
Watching him stand up, she remained lying on her side, supporting her head up somewhat with her hand. However, when the gift was presented to her, she sat up and reached for it with a cocked eyebrow.
Oh right. She had forgot about that.
Opening the gift, the brunette was left a little shocked (Because really, usually guys sucked at this kind of stuff. Surprisingly enough, he didn't), unable to say anything, she lifted the necklace up, pulling the cushion with her, ''It's beau-'' she began as she felt something else, something heavier fall into her lap. She looked down and scrunched her brows.
A key? Oh boy.
''What's that?'', she asked, her voice monotone. She didn't move. She just stared at it. Was it a copy of the key to his dorm room or somthing? ''As much as I appreciate the gesture, if you let me inside your room without you being there, you'd come back and not recognize it,'' she said, looking up with a grin.

Flying fish were awesome. Nothing said against them could convince him otherwise. They were such brave fish, stepping out of their comfort zone like courageous little airplanes. They had his undying respect.
Nervously scratching his chin, Everett stepped away. While at first she had seemed just surprised, now she was positively stony in her silence. He wasn't too sure that it was a good thing for him. Laughing nervously at her joke, Ever just shook his head.
"You're old enough to leave now, and I know you wont want to stay forever." he explained quietly with a shrug. "It's the key to a house, downtown. For whenever you want it, need it, or decide to sell it." He'd purchased it with the specific intent for Erika, so that she could do whatever she wished with it. He hadn't made the assumption that he'd be living with her; it would be inappropriate.
Ever was a terrible shopper, he knew it. He absolutely loved shopping and spending money, and would usually buy gifts for people he had just met, just for the hell of it. For someone as important as Erika, well it was surprising he hadn't bought her a whole island. Mostly because she couldn't afford it.
Her family was rich though, she'd surely be able to buy herself a mansion if she wanted. It had been foolish of him.
Starting forward he held his hand out, "Here, it was a stupid gift. I can take it."

Wait what? He'd bought her a house? Her previous grin was replaced by an expression of utter confusion. Blinking dumbfoundedly she looked down at the key again. Processing his words, she blinked again. She wanted to say something, anything, but she found the words stuck in her throat. She was confused, and shocked. Very shocked actually. And it wasn't that she didn't appreciate it or liked it - she just had no idea how she was supposed to react.
It had been sudden, and not in a million years had she expected that to pop out.
His voice snapped her back and she looked up, scrunching her brows, the confusion still plastered to her face like glue. ''Woah, woah, backtrack. You bought me a house?'' she asked. She wanted to ask why, but he had already answered that. Well, that surely ended up being the oddest, sweetest and most surprising gift she'd ever received. Ever.
Where did he even get the money from? As much as she wanted to bounce up and skip around him in joy, rational thought - for once, took over her mind. There were a million things he could have spent his money, and he spent it on a house? For someone else. Noticing his nervousness, she pulled him back down into the bed by his wrist, her brows still furrowed as she leaned forward, cupping his jaw in her hands, ''You're crazy, you know that right?'' Giving him no room to reply, she pressed lips gently against his.

Shifting his weight awkwardly, Everett bit his lip. There wasn't anything he could say. Why yes, he had bought her a house. At this point it was a little late to deny that. However now he was becoming more and more nervous the longer she remained silent.
When she spoke it wasn't any better. Wincing, Ever ran a hand down his face. "That I did, with walls, a roof and everything," he informed her gruffly, perhaps sharper than he intended. Jesus, how could he get so defensive over a hunk of bricks? He'd screwed up, and needed to accept it.
He went limp as she tugged at him, falling onto the bed with a sigh. Catching his breathe at her touch, Everett froze. He almost choked when she kissed him but responded automatically, pulling her closer. Pulling apart, he touched his nose to hers. "You don't hate me?"

The sharpness in his voice flew past her head. She was far too shocked to even bother coming up with anything to say. In fact, she didn't even know why she had asked for a confirmation. He had already said he'd bought it and why. Maybe she just needed for him to confirm it. Let it sink in a little more. Give her some time to think, without having to worry about the awkward silence - and the fact that it obviously made him uncomfortable.
And with the kiss, it was as if all confusion was washed from her mind and she only felt the warmth of his skin against hers, his breath against her skin and with that, Erika let her hands slide around his neck, ''Hate you? No,'' she whispered, ''Do I think you're crazy? Oh yeah,'' she said, smiling faintly.
She still didn't know what to say though, and she was still a little confused. ''And here I thought I was the rash and reckless one,'' Turning around and leaning her back against his, she picked up the necklace, the ring and the key, running her thumb over the metal, ''Thank you,'' she said peeking up to kiss his jaw.
''This is not going to win you any bonus points with my mom,'' she said, grinning, ''She's going to kill you,'' Oh well, not like she had planned on moving back to the family home either way, though no matter how many times Erika told her that, her mother continued to live in a world of faint hope and denial.

With a sigh Ever leaned his body in to her, tracing small circles on her neck. "Crazy? I like to think of it as creative," he amended, the amused spark returning to his eyes. She hadn't stabbed him in the crotch with the key or anything, so he was under the assumption she was accepting it. Hopefully.
Leaning over he cupped her hand in his, staring at the jewelry. "Are they ok? I don't make a habit of wearing this stuff, so I didn't really know what to pick," Ever murmured, making excuses just in case it was much uglier than he had expected.
Dipping his head Ever chuckled and nibbled on her neck gently. "I can live with anyone hating me, but you." Pausing, he considered for a moment. "Is your mother a scary woman?"
Post by Erika Conner (Bellefonte) on Mar 15, 2014 3:13:48 GMT -6
''I'm sure you do,'' she said with her eyebrow cocked, unable to keep the amused smile from her lips. If he really thought she'd ever be able to hate him, he was wrong. Really, why on earth would she hate him over buying a house? Sure, it was very sudden - and the last thing she had ever expected for him to do. But hate? Hardly.
''They are beautiful,'' she corrected him with a smile. Bending forward, she hooked the chain and pulled the necklace around her neck, ''Do you mind?'' she asked as she held the lock out at the back of her neck. With her free hand she pushed her hair over her shoulder, making it easier for him to work the lock. ''I have to admit I'm a little surprised at your taste.'' she chuckled, ''A pleasant kind of surprised,'' she added quickly.
Closing her eyes at his touch, Erika let a faint laugh escape her lips, ''We'll see,'' she warned him again, cocking her eyebrow somewhat, though she knew with her back facing him, he didn't see it. His next question had her smirking, ''Oh yeah, horrifying. She makes Jack from The Shining pale in comparison - well, that and her thousand dollar purse can be used as a weapon, I'm sure.'' No, she wasn't really scary, just persistent. And she absolutely hated not getting things her way.
