Asshole Alert (Noelle)

Nate had taken the lovely role of being a dorm monitor for the day, and he couldn't wait to surprise the students and find out what business the idiots had gotten their asses stuck into. They were so stupid these teenagers. Doing all kinds of shit so openly, it was a shame. When he was young, he had snuck away to do all the shit today's kids seemed to do inside their rooms. Drinking, sex, drugs... Much stupid. Much teen.

He had been assigned the co-ed dorm, which was all fine and dandy, though it had been rather uneventful up until now. Barging through the different doors, he quickly made his way through the rooms. One by one, he surprised the poor kids with his presence of pure awesomeness and of course, his even more awesome comments and verbal assaults.

He was such a fine example of a teacher. They should be giving him a medal or some shit.

Barging through another door, Nate lifted his arms in the air and cackled, ''Surprise motherfuckers!'' he yelled and looked around the room. It was fairly empty, besides this sweet, lookin' blonde. Mh-hm, wouldn't he love to sink his teeth into that pale skin, mmm.

Walking over, Nate put his arm around her shoulder before pursing his lips, frowning somewhat, ''Hey, haven't I seen you somewhere before?'' Oh right. ''You're that freak with the split personality and freaky gender issues, aren't you?'' He cackled a little at his own comment, ''Do you like grow a dick too? Or does it all stay lady like? I would hate to be a dude without a dick, you know, so I can't really relate to your less feminine companion,''

Rubbing his chin, he added, ''Well, if you ever need to know what a real man's jewel look like, all you need to do is ask, babe,''

Noelle jumped when the door to her dorm busted open, and turned to watch in half-stunned shock as a loud, young-looking man waltzed through the door. Automatically drawing her knees up in a defensive position Noelle watched him with the wide eyes of a startled animal, literally flinching the moment he started making his way over to her. 

She recognized him, Noelle realized with a start. He was one of the academy's trainers. She was frightened by the fact that he also recognized her, unable to piece together that he knew her the same way she knew him. It was worse however, when he touched her. 

With a small squeak Noelle leaned away. It would be rude to move away, she could no nothing against him in this way. She cringed again and again at almost every crude word he uttered, crossing her arms and gripping her shoulders tightly to keep herself from shaking. It didn't help though. Why was he talking like this? It sounded like he was going to-...

"You're not...you wont hurt me," she whispered, with startling surety, as if trying to convince herself rather than him. "You won't hurt me, but why are you doing this?" Noelle's voice quivered as her vision blurred, on the brink of letting tears overflow. Where was Eren when she needed him?

As if on cue she felt something stir in the pit of her stomach, but just as frightened of that, she crushed it down instinctively.

The girl looked absolutely terrified with her wide eyes and frightened expression and that only egged Nate to push her even further, though when she started speaking, he felt inclined to hold back a laugh, shaking his head slowly before ruffling her blonde hair, ''I won't,'' he promised with a grin and let go of her shoulders, giving the room another glance before settling his eyes back at her, ''You're a tad too young, I'm worried,''

Rubbing his chin, his expression grew thoughtful, as if he had to think about her question before answering, ''Because I'm an ass?'' he said, stating the obvious. Really, that was the only reason. And it was a damn good one too.

And aww, it almost looked like the little flower was about to cry. If Nate had had a heart, maybe he would have cared, or comforted her. But he didn't. The only thing he felt like doing was pushing her to the point of breaking down. He was that much of a jerk, but she just made it so god damn easy!

''When your boobs grow a few sizes, come see me, yeah? I like my women with a little more...Well, more.'' he grinned and gave her shoulder a bump. ''So, what are your roomies hiding? Booze? Drugs? Porn?'' he arched his eyebrow and looked at her, ''What are you hiding? Don't tell me you're the kind of girl who keeps toys? Dildos? Whips? Handcuffs? Naaah.''

She wasn't equipped to deal with situations like these. If she was stronger she'd be able to push him away, or tell him to shut his mouth. As it was, there was little she could do. Besides, Nathan seemed to be enjoying himself, and who was she to stand in the way of anyone's entertainment? She apparently failed to realize that being seen as someone's 'entertainment' was something she was allowed to dislike.

His words stilled her, surprise crossing her features briefly. This gave way to quiet contemplation, and eventually she shook her head, shooting the taller man a quick smile. "No I don't think so. You're not an a-" Well she couldn't even say the word, but she figured she'd said enough to get her point across. He was being himself, she couldn't call him names for that. It saddened her that he could though, she realized that perhaps it happened often, to someone so open like him.

The brief sliver of confidence she had held wavered as she hugged her arms closer to her chest self-consciously, blushing at his crass comments. He clearly had a lot of self confidence to be going around talking like that. It was admirable, in its own way.

"I wouldn't know. It's not my business," Noelle whispered quietly. It was true that she hadn't yet met any person that she would be sharing a dorm with, and even if she had she had no place to criticize their way of life. On the other hand, she blushed scarlet red as he continued to talk, swaying slightly.

"I don't understand. Why do you talk like that?"

He looked at the tiny creature who so easily, so seemingly wanted to think of him as a better person than what he really was. It was a little sad, but also immensely hilarious. Oh boy, who woulda known the job of a dorm monitor could bring him so much fun? ''Ack, well aren't you a naive, little thing?'' he said with a smirk, once again ruffling her blonde hair.

He was a dick. He had always been a dick. And he preferred to be called as such too. It helped keeping annoying people away and it helped him find a little fun in each and every thing he did. It was better to act like a dick and speak like one, rather having people think you were a good person. When people thought you were good, they expected too much. And with the expectations, disappointment followed. It was far better for him to make sure people never expected anything from him, and that way they wouldn't have to look at him with those pitiful eyes.

''I see,'' Nathan said, and turned to look at the doors containing each and every student's bedroom. Maybe he should have checked through them, scanned every inch of the room for anything. But truth be told, he was enjoying himself far too much here.

Her question had him turning his head, before finally turning his entire body to face her. Leaning down, her cupped her chin between his thumb and index finger, bending down to meet her at her level of height, ''Why not?'' he said with a sly grin, his tongue circling his lips before smacking them.

''Do I make you feel uncomfortable, missy? You know, the only way to get rid of that is by sleeping with me,''

She frowned lightly. "I'm not naive," Noelle grumbled, dropping her arms only to cross them over her chest. She was most certainly naive. Ridiculously so. She was light and carefree and the epitome of purity, maybe she would have been different if her subconscious hadn't protected her. If she hadn't created Eren to take away all her negativity. Would she have ended up like Nate? No, that was the wrong comparison. She still refused to believe he was bad.

He was supposed to be checking the dorms, right? She kept waiting for him to break away from her and do his duty, but he didn't. She started to think less and less that he would. It didn't really matter. She was sure nobody here at Bellefonte would do anything bad like that. It wouldn't be proper.

She didn't resist as Nathan angled her head, eyes fluttering in surprise. That question right there, it was her assurity that he wasn't heartless, or anywhere near as bad as he acted. Even if it was with such a joking tone, even if he barked and prodded her with his bunny-drive, he'd asked. That had to mean something.

"No, I'm not uncomfortable. You're weird," she expressed fondly, slipping her eyes shut as she smiled brightly. When she opened them again, Noelle laughed. And leaned back slightly, away from the nearness of Nathan's features. She wasn't scared of him. Did he want her to be? She didn't understand that either; or anything about him, which just made everything more fun to try and figure out.

With a start, she realized she hadn't introduced herself. "Oh! My name is Noelle. I mean, maybe you know that already, but that's what it is." she introduced with fluttered haste, before smiling again and clasping her hands behind her back. "We're friends now, ok? So you better not forget it."

''You are,'' he said again, arching his eyebrow in a playful manner as he shook his head, ''But maybe you haven't realized that yet. It's probably for the best,'' he said before pursing his lips. Well, whatever. It didn't matter. She was entitled to her own opinion, just as he was. But, he was still going to call her naive, even if she didn't like it.

Her smile, her laughter, everything was just so surprising to him, it rendered him unable to say anything at all. With a confused expression, he blinked and pulled back, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. Well, that was a new one. Normally, he made them cry or get angry. Not once had they actually laughed. What the hell was wrong with this girl? Was she high? No, her eyes didn't seem red. Was she drunk? Probably not. She didn't exactly strike him as that kind of a girl.

She was odd. And that made him feel uncomfortable.

''Woah, woah, woah, calm your tits there for a second, Birdy.'', he said and lifted his hand, his brows furrowed, ''Who said anything about being friends? I don't have friends.'' He wanted to question her sanity. Clearly, she was horrible at picking people to become friends with. ''We're not- we- ah whatever,'' he muttered with a sigh and waved her away, turning around to walk towards one of the bedroom doors, opening it with a sigh before sticking his head inside.

''Some people need to teach their kids to clean their rooms,'' he grimaced as he quickly shut the door, scrunching his nose before turning to the next room.

He made sure to keep his eyes averted from the odd little freak who reminded him more of something that crawled out of the ass of a pregnant monkey, rather than a human being. ''Don't you have a playdate to run off to or something?''

He seemed surprised. She liked that; that he wasn't able to predict everything, and that he didn't know everything. Like he acted that he did. "Maybe I'm just acting naive," she countered stubbornly. It was still no use though. Even though she was embarrassed to admit it, even Noelle knew that she was ridiculously shut out from reality. On the other hand, she had no idea how to change that.

There was something that she could do right. Noelle would never push anyone away, she'd never say no or tell a lie. Everything she did and said was blindingly truthful, she had no problems offering her heart and soul to others, which made her an easy target. She just hadn't realized it yet. While Nathan seemed ten ways of uncomfortable, Noelle was still smiling. She could take his silence as submission, couldn't she? "I'm sorry, were you trying to make me feel uncomfortable?" she asked suddenly, guilt clouding her eyes. "I can act..if it will make you feel better?"

Cocking her head, the corner of Noelle's smile lifted into a smile, though she tried to hide it. Nathan didn't really look to be in a smiling mood. She was determined to see him smile for real one day though. Following after him stubbornly, Noelle sighed. "I never said you had to be my friend. I just said I'm going to be yours." she explained carefully, absolutely and completely set on the decision. 

With a laugh she bounced forward on her heels, wrapping her slim arms around the taller form of Nate, peeking over his shoulder. "That's ok right, kitty." After all, he'd called her birdy. Maybe it was a thing? She liked cats. 

"Playdate?" she repeated, voice dropping a bit in feigned cheerfulness. "Oh, ah, you're assuming I have friends. Well no, there isn't much I'm invited to. You're stuck with me, sorry."

''Act?'', he asked, surprise fluttering over his still confused eyes. What on earth was wrong with this girl? Seriously, she had to be some sort of mental patient, right? Seriously, something was odd, awfully wrong with her mind. Maybe she was retarded. Or maybe she had lived most of her life locked up in a tower? It just didn't make sense, no matter how many times he tried wrapping his mind around it. She was odd. Really, really odd. ''Did your parents drop you on your head as an infant or something?''

Rolling his eyes, Nathan shook his head before letting out an impatient sigh, ''We're not friends. I'm not your friend, and you sure as hell ain't mine,'' he growled, the corner of his lips turned upwards into something similar that of a snarl, ''Don't you have someone else to bother? Like, far away from here? Maybe?'' Hopefully, she did. Because really, she was starting to freak him out.

He had seen clingy girls. Heck, he had seen the kind who stalked you and watched you as you slept, and gathered your hair and made figured out of them. Yet, somehow this chick was creeping him out mare than anything else ever had.

Freezing in place when her slender arms wrapped themselves around his waist like a snake wrapping itself around its victim, Nate looked at her from over his shoulder, his brown eyes darkening, ''Whaaa,'' he let out, flailing his arms slightly before he tried pushing her away. Kitty? What the actual fuck? ''Get off of me, you creep,'' he said, placing his hands on her head in another attempt to push the snail away. With a sigh, he dropped his arms and looked at her with a childish frown, his cheeks colored in a pale shade of pink. ''Yeah, yeah, very sad. Boo-hoo,'' he muttered awkwardly and sighed, ''Off. Shoo. Go away. Scram!''

Well, clearly this girl didn't react to verbal assault. Maybe he actually had to teach her a lesson. Scare her to the bone or whatever. Fine. he could do that.

Grabbing both of her hands, he swirled around and pressed the timid girl's body against the wall, pinning her in place with his own. Looking down at her with a darkening glare, he pushed his lips back and growled, ''I highly suggest you walk away before you get hurt.'' he threatened, ''Or worse. You should know better than to play with fire.'' Letting go of her, he took a few steps away and shrugged, rubbing his chin before turning away.

God, what a stupid brat.

She was probably pushing things too far, she knew it. But how else was she supposed to convince him? Actions right, it had to be through action. What sort of things did one friend do for another? She wasn't sure, she'd never had one. Maybe it wasn't just her. Noelle pouted slightly, honest confusion crossing her bright features. "Maybe," she answered, completely honest. "You'd think I'd remember something like that though. Huh." Noelle smiled brightly, completely unfazed by the possibility.

She didn't like his stubbornness, unable to realize that she had the exact same trait. "You just watch, I'll prove it," she assured him stubbornly. "I mean everything I say, and I never lie. I'm going to be your friend, no matter how much you try to act tough and push me away." he somewhat serious tirade over, Noelle massaged her fingers nervously and sighed. "Haven't you ever had a friend before, Nate? It's ok, because I haven't either."

She doubted such a fact meant to him what it did to her, but even if she could forge some kind of connection with him she would. She was taken by surprise when he grabbed her, but didn't fight his stronger grip. The way she placed trust in people almost immediately was perhaps her weakest trait.

Noelle obediently skipped away at his protest, acknowledging that this time she had pushed her limits much too far. Was it the hug or the Kitty? She'd need to work on it. But, Noelle still couldn't help but smile, and slowly made her way back to Nate anyway.

Noelle gasped as she hit the wall, breathlessly looking up at the close figure of Nathan. She curled her fingers but found her hands quite immobile, not that she'd struggle either way. Her iceberg green eyes were calm as she stared up at Nate, impossibly close. "You wont do it," she whispered again, breathing slowly. "I trust you, Nate, I promise. So let's be friends, okay?" Noelle asked again, voice quivering.
There was little doubt in her mind that Nate would actually hurt her, not physically anyway. If he did, it would probably break her entire personality. Her life revolved on trust.

This girl was driving him insane. Seriously, he was starting to get annoyed by her blissful behavior. It made him want to really teach her a lesson about how cruel people could be, himself included. ''Fuck off,'' was all her manged to mutter as she continued to pursue the topic of beings friends. No, he didn't have friends. He didn't need to. Being alone suited him best, and his cruel personality usually managed to keep people at a distance.

And he wanted it to be like that. But this chick was pushing and pressing, tugging and just... Lord have mercy. It was a wonder he hadn't exploded yet. Or worse. He could so easily break her. Show her just how dark the world was, and within it, even darker people lingered in the shadows. He was one of those dark people.

''I ain't your friend, nor will I ever be,'' he huffed at her. As much as he wanted to break her in half, he simply didn't find the courage to. Why? He didn't know. Maybe he wasn't as far gone as he liked to think, or maybe it wasn't worth it. It didn't really matter. Shaking his head, he let out a faint laughter, ''Keep that up, and I will.'' he threatened her again.

There was only so much he could keep himself back before he'd actually do something. If she kept pushing him, he'd be forced to take action. And he guessed she probably wouldn't enjoy it.

Making his way towards the exit door, he reached for the handle, but before turning it, he looked at the blonde over his shoulder, casting a glare her way, ''We are not friends. Nor will we ever be, so I suggest you burst that little bubble of yours and start facing reality,'' he paused and took a deep breath, ''Maybe that's something you can discuss with your alter ego,'' he huffed.

He found himself retorting to insults whenever he felt uncomfortable. Well, he always retorted to insults, but this time he was grasping at anything that would turn her off, make her mad or hurt her. Anything to keep her away. Anything to keep everyone away.

Maybe she didn't have any real experience of the world, but she knew what she wanted. Noelle had a strong sense of identity, which, considering her powers, was horribly ironic. She wasn't good at giving up or accepting defeat, and when she had a goal she'd go for it without any limitations or worries. There was not a way in hell that Nate could get away from her now.

No matter how hard she tried, how hard her body pinned against a wall tried to tell her otherwise, Noelle could not bring herself to believe that Nate could ever hurt her. In fact, it looked more like he was teaching her, warning her. But he didn't care, did he? She had pushed and pushed, only to be thrown back. Of course she wasn't going to give up now, nowhere near, but were her efforts entirely in vain?

"I won't give up," she informed him calmly, as if she wasn't forced against a wall, being threatened by a clearly dangerous man in a defenseless position. Just in case he hadn't caught on yet. 

Her green eyes flashed then lowered, fingers shaking. "Is that how far you'll go to prove you're right?" she whispered in wonder, then shot her head up, meeting Nate's gaze with straight-forward clarity. "Alright, then do it. Break me, prove to me that I was wrong Nathan. I'm just a naive girl, that's it, isn't it? Aren't I good enough to be your friend?"

For someone without friends, he seemed awfully picky. She kept that to herself though.

She didn't want him to leave. It felt too much like letting her chance go. He'd be able to avoid her out of this room, he'd be gone and it would be too late. She wasn't prepared for that.

He had to admit that in all her oddity and freakish nature, was pretty. Her blonde hair framed her face perfectly, and her green eyes gave her skin a natural glow, and her smile. God, her smile. Shaking the thought away, Nate has narrowed his eyes as he continued to glare her her - this tiny being that reminded him all too much of a bird, hence the nickname. ''Stuuu-piiid,'' he said silently with a sigh.

Yet again, he was caught by surprise as the timid creature outwardly dared him to break her, to do with her what he had done with so many before her. Yet, a part of him seemed to hold back, fight against the will of the beast, per say. ''You should be careful with the words you choose to speak so easily,'' he said, pressing his lips into a hard line as the grip around her hands tightened. Then with a sigh he let her arms drop, and pressed his own against the wall above her head, still keeping her pinned against the wall, yet reluctantly so. With his free hand, he brushed hair away from her face and tucked it behind her ear, almost gently he brushed his thumb across her skin before shaking his head, ''Stupid.''

Cocking his head in her directed he pushed his hands down his pockets before shaking his head, ''Perhaps,'' he said and smiled sadly at her before grimacing, and the sad smile turned into yet another cackled grin, ''Doesn't change the fact that you and I will never be friends,''

Frowning, Noelle shook her head. Sticking her tongue out she wagged a finger at Nate, as if to tell him 'no'. "Not stupid, unique," she informed him with a light giggle. Honestly to her it didn't matter how Nate saw her, just so long as he accepted her.

She was considerately quiet as Nathan seemed to mull over her challenge. Ok so maybe she was a little more scared than she let on, but her confidence in him stalled her from feeling any real terror. It was ridiculous of her to be so blindingly trusting, but it was a flaw of hers. When he released her wrists she rubbed them thoughtfully and nodded. "Only to you, I don't talk like that to anyone else," she told him quietly, folding her arms into her chest. She couldn't say what gave her the confidence to so openly defy Nate. She really knew how to pick them.

She looked up in surprise at his gentle touch, and gave the barest of smiles. "Not stupid," she argued again, her voice barely there. She hadn't been prepared for such a quick change.

Her smile was replaced with an echoing smirk of Nate's. "Challenge accepted."
