Kamillia had just finished showering and getting dressed; she had just woke up before taking a shower. She did not feel all the well, maybe it was something she ate last night? She took her temperature with a thermometer, that was probably a pretty weird thing to do since her body temperature is usually higher than average. However, she wanted to make sure it wasn’t any higher, or lower because then she would have problems. That wasn’t the case though, her temperature was fine. She scratched the back of her head; maybe it was the burn on her upper arm.
Looking at it, it really looked bad, it was an in the shape of her hand and fingers, this was the worst she had done to herself as of recently. It hurt like hell, and looked even worse; she knew she was going to have to go to the nurse office. But she was so reluctant to go.. It wasn’t a third degree burn that much she knew, because it did hurt, and she heard third degree burns didn’t hurt. She guessed that was a good thing, but she still didn’t want to go the nurse.
Sighing, she grabbed her bag and made her way to the nurse’s office. She had to get this done, she wasn’t sure if burn could get worse, and she wasn’t going to find out the hard way with this. Maybe she could get something that made it hurt less… A lot less maybe… She knocked on the nurse office door politely, because why not? “hello?” Was anyone even here? It wasn’t that early in the morning…

Unlike most students and Academy teachers who found the end of the year crammed with studying, final exams and plans for the summer, the medical staff saw it as sort of a break. There weren't any school events as the students were now focused upon their studies with the exception of prom and, thankfully, that was a night that rarely resulted in the need for medical personnel. And so, the big man had been spending more and more time in the nurse's office. There were no calls, no major power training events, no school sanctioned trips, just the calm before the storm that would be summer and the cavalcade of injuries that was sure to come.
Clad in his typical uniform of dark blue pats, black boots and a black t-shirt with yellow lettering bearing the Bellefonte Academy's logo as well as "MEDICAL PERSONNEL" on the back, Spence sat behind the front desk of the nurses office, Sun Tzu's The Art of War open and in front of him. He glanced up at the door as he heard the knock. "Yes?" He said curiously. It wasn't like most to knock, they simply entered. He waved off the nurse's assistant that was on duty who was trying to sneak in a quick break before the bosses came in for the day and got to his feet. "You can come in." He called, placing a marker in the book and setting it aside.

Kamillia had been in here a couple times before, like that time she fractured her wrist because she did an epic fail of a skateboard trick. Every time she came in here though she saw someone new; well new to her. She wasn’t sure what that really meant, or how Bellefonte did their scheduling. It would be nice to actually come in here and know someone though. She felt weird always having a new face touch her, and look at her.
The medical staff probably were never prepared for Kam… Even after being at this school for three years. “Oh. Hi, I’m Kamillia and I think I gave myself a second degree burn..” Wow, how bad did that sound? “Uh… not intentionally.” Just because she felt she needed to clarify. She walked into the office, she didn’t know how long this was going to take… She hoped not that long. She lifted her shirt sleeve a little to show the burn that was on her upper left arm. “Burns are kind of normal for me, but never this bad..”

The big man offered a short nod in greeting as the girl stepped in. He'd seen all manner of injuries in his time at the Academy and while overseas. There were very few sights anymore that he found shocking or anything less than routine. The second degree burn the girl lifted her sleeve to reveal was met with a practiced, almost calm eye. "Morning, Kamillia, I'm Spence." He did smile, though, he was aware his size alone could be intimidating to many, especially some of the more tightly wound students and staff at the school. "Why don't we head over to one of the exam rooms and I'll take a closer look at it."
He scooped up one of the tablets the medical staff used in lieu of clipboards and papers and looked over the girl quickly to ensure she didn't seem to be suffering any other injuries. "What's your last name, Kamillia?" As was the routine he needed to bring up her medical file even for fairly routine visits like this. She probably wasn't going to need anything more than a topical cream and a good wrap to go along with a couple follow up visits, but with mutants and their side effects, it was good to know what he was working with. "How'd you hurt yourself?" He asked, rounding the front desk so he could lead the girl into one of the exam rooms.

Kamillia nodded back, cause manners and everything, as well as gave him a smile. She might as well be nice to the guy who was about to help her with her wound. He was pretty intimidating, because of how large he was; which made Kam want to try to be intimidating back… Which made no sense outside Kam’s brain; but she kept her chin high, looked the man in the eyes, and kept her shoulders back in a nice posture. That was intimidating right? Probably not… But that was all she got. “Good Morning... I guess?” Not really a good morning.. But she was trying to be polite. She didn’t think there was anything more to look at, but she nodded and followed him to the exam room. “I’m sure you’ve seen burns the shape of a hand before..” It started to itch and she wanted to scratch it really badly…
“What’s your last name?” She asked in defense, even though she knew he needed it to look up her record or something. “Engel…” She answered after a second. He really didn’t need to give her his last name, she wondered if he knew that. It would be nice to know, if she needed to come back and ask him questions, it was always easier seeing someone who already treated the wound instead of someone new. She hated answering the same questions that someone else asked, it was repetitive. She sighed, “Burned myself… With my hand… During power practice..” Yes practice, because she practiced her power outside of her normal training.

"I've seen burns of all shapes and sizes." Corey replied with a reassuring nod. That Kamillia was still walking instantly pushed her well down on the list of the worst burns the former US Army Special Forces combat medic had seen. Most of what he dealt with in the Academy were routine illnesses and minor injuries. He'd been wounded himself on many occasions and understood how painful they could be, he simply had a great deal of experience that kept things in perspective.
His eyes lifted from the tablet to the girl and he smirked a little. "Spencer, actually." He said with a nod before going to input her name into the database. He paused just a moment as he led the girl into one of the rooms and gestured toward the exam bed that took up one side of it. "During practice?" He mulled over these words a bit as he scanned through the girl's medical file. She was a pyrokinetic, which made sense. He'd only been at the Academy a short time and he'd already treated a number of cold injuries for hydrokinetics and burns from pyrokinetics. "Well, Miss Engel." He set the tablet on the counter beside him and pulled the rolling chair in the room to him and took a seat. "Let me take a look at it and we'll get you on your way. I'm sure you've got better things to do than sit here all day."
