Cade had a few plans that day. He had sent a text to Devyn telling her to meet him at the skate park in Kalispell. He knew she'd find a way to come. Hopefully she'd be curious enough she'd actually want to show up. He had a bag of stuff, and two boards packed with him and he was sitting on a bench nearby waiting for her to show up. Hopefully she liked skateboarding. If not, this plan was going to be a total bust. But he'd thought long and hard about it, and thought she might be the type to enjoy surfing the half-pipe. Devyn was actually surprised when she got a text from Cade. The guy that she figured was going to avoid her since he told her how he felt and then pissed her off. Well she did see him on the camping trip, but that had been Vera's doing not hi. She didn't know or get what was up with the guy, but did feel like she had to take him out and teach him how to be the player that he had pretended to be when she first met him. Things had just gotten busy with the whole forced camping trip and her trying to still pack things up to take back to her actual home with her mother.
I don't own a board anymore but if you have a spare that will work. Or we can hit up a skater shop and get one.
Devyn sent the text back, a bit late. She was still not so stellar when it came to texing and sent the text when she was basically already there. She probably should have texted him back a lot earlier saying that she would actually show up and that she did like to skateboard. It just had been a while since she had done it. She was big on it when she was about fifteen and sixteen and got distracted with other things. He was easy enough to spot out and she could not help but to attempt to sneak up on him.
"Yo, I see you brought an extra board. Ready to eat cement?" Devyn asked as she chuckled a little. It was highly possibly that she was going to be the one eating cement at first until muscle memory hopefully kicked in. "How you've been?" Devyn asked as she was already reaching to grab one of the boards from him so she can head over to the skate park. She messed with her black shades a little to make sure they were not going to fall off doing some movement, ant they normally did a good job at staying on her face.

"Yeah I brought an extra board. In fact, you can have it. I don't need it. But who knows? We might find this as a fun activity for us to compete in. So you'd need a board." He smiled and shrugged.
"Oh so I'm going to eat cement even though I skateboarded around my neighbourhood a fair bit as a kid...we'll just see about that. There are some things I'm not nearly as unskilled at as driving and romancing you know. And I've been...good. Not doing much honestly." He laughed.
"But seriously, turn the board over. It has an envelope taped to the back. I think the skate shop had some special care instructions or something." Yeah no. There was a certain question in there. He felt like his heart was this fragile thing. The note inside read:
Will you go to Prom with me? And do I need to add a please onto that?

"That was nice of you and if this turns into a competition, well I'm going to end up having to buy another board. I tend to break these when I get serious." Devyn admitted as she took the board thankfully. She didn't mind getting a free board, because free stuff. Still, she probably was going to have to end up buying herself another one because she had not been joking about breaking boards. She was a bit of a daredevil and tended to like to go big or go home when she got serious.
Some of her scars were from physical activities she took part in and skateboarding contributed to a few broken bones over time. She was already starting to walk towards the skate park, looking back at Cade as he spoke of her comment about eating cement. "Yeah, as a kid. You are like twenty now, right?" Devyn teased, basically calling him old. Not that she really cared about his age, he was older then she was and she went for those that were older than her after all.
"Oh, speaking of romancing, I need to take you out to a bar and give you some lessons. Because dude, you need to gain some skill when it comes to seducing the ladies if you are ever going to be my wing-man." Devyn teased, but she was also telling the truth. If he was going to ever pretend to be a player again, well he needed at least some actual skills. That and well he was attractive and Devyn was pretty sure that with a bit of help he could actually be a pretty decent player. She stopped and turned the board over when he spoke of there being a envelope underneath it.
"What, did you give me some cheap board that might break if I do certain tricks listed on this note?" Devyn asked in a teasing tone as she torn the envelope off that back and pulled out the paper. Then she was silent for a moment as she read it before scratching at her head a little and looking to Cade. "Dude, that was pretty good in terms of a sneaky way to ask a girl somewhere." Devyn said, having to at least give him a complement for that. "But uh...Vera already asked me." Devyn informed him and braced herself for whatever reaction she was likely to get.

"Oh." Vera had beaten him to it, huh? He felt kind of like he'd been sucker punched in the gut. He really couldn't say anything but 'oh'. So much for that. His plans had rapidly gone up in smoke. That didn't mean they still couldn't have fun of course, but it would put a damper on his excitement. He was disappointed, yes. But he was trying to handle this maturely. He turned away so she wouldn't be able to see the disappointment on his face. There was no need for her to see that. It might make her feel bad and Cade didn't want that. He sighed, biting his lip and running his hands through his hair.
"Guess I should've been quicker." He wasn't saying too much. He picked up his board and put it on the ground, jumping on and picking up speed as he went towards a railing about four feet off the ground. He ollied and grinded on it. It was just as well he was skateboarding today. Skateboarding had always been one of his ways to get away from things that bothered him. That one of the many reasons it was special to him. He finished grinding on the railing and came off the end before turning to look at Devyn, forcing a smile. It was too wide. Too bright. But hopefully it would work.
"You're going to have quite the competition. I didn't say I'd ever quit skateboarding. I don't do it as much as I used to, but that's just because there's really been no frustrations to work out. I thought it might be fun today though. For both of us."

Devyn honestly had not planned on going to Prom at all; it was one of things she wanted a onetime experience with. Plus she also knew that Zoe was going to be there and she knew for a fact she would not be able to see Zoe with her significant other and be cool about it. Yet, Vera asked and Vera was her bestie. Not to forget that Vera said she would be wearing something tight which was obviously telling Devyn that he would have permission to rip it off later. She still felt bad for having to shoot the guy down when he had actually come up with a creative way of asking her out to the Prom.
He didn't really have to turn and try to hide it, it was practically in his body langue, the way his posture changed for a moment. She felt like she had just kicked a puppy, and that was saying something because she was wolf like and would not do such a thing. Unless the puppy started it, which if it was a dog was possible. Baby animals were fine with her but the larger ones tended to be scared of her. She was distracting herself with things now and knew she had to focus and try and cheer Cade up. "Yeah, you should have but it happens." Devyn said shrugging; trying to make it seem like it was not big deal. She felt like it should not have been, it was just prom.
"Hey, we can go to the movies together sometime instead, what do you say to that?" Devyn asked as she dropped the board down to the ground. She placed a foot on it so it would not go anywhere as she by default thought a joke/tease would help with the situation. "Besides, I don't wear dresses and I don't think your bod would appreciate it if you stuffed it into a dress." Devyn teased as she chuckled a little. It was a complement, because he was buff and well depending on the kind of dress he got, he could end up tearing it or feel trapped or something.
She watched him for a moment as he skated away, following at a distance but she made no moves to do any tricks or anything. She just sort of took it easy on her board, working on getting her balance again and making sure she recalled how to turn and move properly. She smirked when he brought up that she would have competition. She did notice that he was still not doing the best; she put in a fake smile enough to notice another one, for the most part. "Def should be fun." Devyn said as she did a quick kick-flip before moving to speed ahead and grind down the railing on her way to half-pipe.

Oh boy. He wasn't doing too good a job of acting like he was fine if Devyn was trying to console him with an offer of going to the movies.
"Yeah maybe. Might be fun." He wasn't about to give a definitive answer to that. Yes, it was better than nothing. But he didn't want to be pitied. That wasn't exactly an attractive option. Then Devyn mentioned about the dress and Cade couldn't help but give a small smile. It was tinted with sadness a bit, but it was more genuine than a fake one.
"Okay alright. I'm too manly for everything. I get it." He sighed.
"But just for the record, I wouldn't have cared about the whole dress thing. We could've both gone in tuxedos. Wardrobe choice doesn't matter. Even if some very judgmental people care about that sort of thing, I don't." He shrugged. He thought a touch of honesty might be better here. She was trying to make him feel better. That hadn't been his intention starting out anyways. The whole idea had been a fun outing with Devyn. He wasn't going to let the fact he was too slow ruin that. Yes, he was bummed about it. But he knew enough about friendship, and other people in general, that when something went wrong for you it would be impolite not to try your best to make sure the other person still had fun regardless. Then he watched her go and do a kick flip, and then head towards the half pipe. He took off on his board after her, doing a double flip and landing it with a grin.
See, the thing with Cade and skateboarding? It allowed him to forget the troubles he might be having. It was part of the reason he'd decided to ask Devyn to prom with skateboarding. That way if he'd gotten rejected, he'd have the skateboarding to fall back on. He cruised towards one of the half pipes, going up it and grabbing his board briefly in the jump. He couldn't help but give a small victory cry.
"Check it out Devyn!"

"Should be, but your call. Not going to force you or anything...well I'll try not to force you." Devyn said as she just moved around a little on her board. She didn't go off anywhere at first, just wanting to make sure that Cade and her were cool. The guy seemed so fragile sometimes that it reminded her of Zoe, but then he just seemed even more fragile than Zoe. Who would have thought someone could have been even more fragile than Zoe. Yet, Zoe had changed a lot too so perhaps old Zoe was a better compression in the situation.
Asking him to the movies was because she wanted to cheer him up and she did actually like hanging out with Cade when he was not trying to get emotionally deep with her. She didn't do emotions well, if he had not caught onto that yet. He was still of course something nice to look at and she considered him a friend so it should have been expected that she would be game for hanging out with him if he was. "Weeeelllll, you could do to be a bit manlier. I mean with how your body looks and how you act I still feel like you would make a good gay guy." Devyn teased as she chuckled a little. She just didn't think he would look good in a dress was mainly what she had been teasing at before.
She smiled when he pointed out that he would not have really cared about the two of them going in suites. Dev understood that, she had been more so joking and what have you because honestly she would not have allowed him to wear a dress and she was not planning on wearing one so that would of had to been the case if they had ended up going together. Perhaps if he had beat Vera and tried a bit harder or something she might have ended up going with him instead. She didn't know and it was past them and she just wanted to focus on having fun and trying to cheer him up.
After all, he had invited her out here and she didn't want his whole day to suck because his plan didn't work out so well. Devyn reached the half pipe but stopped to get a good look at it before watching Cade as he just went for it. She laughed a little as he pulled off a trick and seemed so proud of it. "Such a kid." Devyn teased as she got up onto the half pipe and started to skate back and forth and doing simple things like Nollies, tailslide, and ollies.
"Depends on the movie." He realized that by not sounding eager or anything. By just giving that blase answer, he was not only being deathly boring, but a total jerk. When she joked about his manliness, he laughed.
"Being fabulous does not necessarily mean you are gay." He grinned. He overheard Devyn's comment after his trick and smirked. Then he went towards where Devyn was. He pulled a couple of double flips with his board and grinned.

Devyn scratched at her head a little when Cade just said it all depended on the movie and didn't come off as eager or anything. She figured that should have bothered her, but it honestly didn't. If he didn't want to hang out with her and go to the movies, then that was his choice. Devyn did sometimes 'force' people to join her out on her fun, but if they really didn't want to then she was not going to put too much effort into dragging them along with her.
She was a loner after all, and if someone didn't want to do something, then she was fine going off and doing it on her own. "Your call in the end." Devyn responded back, leaving it at that. If he was going to treat it like it was no big deal, then so was she. Simple as that. Devyn didn't like putting too many emotions when it came to things, so she shoved any negative feelings about the matter down and went back to skating. "So true. I mean I could see you working a pair of heels." Devyn pointed out. There were some guys that could indeed look fabulous and were not gay.
Devyn just felt like Cade should expand his taste or something, sine he clearly had liked or well still liked her. Or maybe it was that she just wanted to get him out there and get laid. She do the laying herself if she had not known that he was actually into her. Being into her for the sake of physical attraction and cool with being friends was one thing, but she had a feeling he would have wanted to be a thing and she was still unsure about being a thing with anyone.
Dev did watch him skate, joining him a few times, and amazed that she did not end up falling or anything. She did however end up getting distracted when she saw a group of males and females who looked like they were heading to the local pool, or just felt like walking around in their underwear. "Mmm...Cade, take in this view for a moment." Devyn said as she gestured for him to come closer to look.

"No-one works in heels. I don't even get why girls bother with them. They look like they SUCK." Cade pulled up beside Devyn, flipping his board into his hand. Cade shrugged. He was gradually getting over his rejection. There was no reason to let it ruin the day. He had a chance to have fun with Devyn and show her the kinds of things he enjoyed. He wasn't about to squander the experience. Then he saw the group of people. They were either in bathing suits or underwear. Either way, some of them were pretty hot.
"That one girl in the middle does seem to have a really nice butt."

"Dude, clearly you have not been seduced by a girl in heels. There is just something about those deadly things that makes you appreciate a person's ability to walk in them and also worry that they might be used to stab you." Devyn said with a slight chuckle. Yeah, she would never wear heels; she tried and almost broke her leg in the process. She would not even force other to wear them, but if they wanted to, she was not going to stop them. There was just something about them that Devyn liked it when she saw someone wearing them.
It made them taller and well the main thing was that she was worried how they would be used. Too many times had she been pressed down or back against something with the use of someone’s heel. It was hot, but it also hurt, and made her worry that 'Death By heel' would end up being put on her dead paperwork. It was good that Cade was at least joining her in checking out the view and not saying that she had a better butt or something. Dev honestly didn't mind complement but she was particular about them, in that she only accepted the ones that she herself could see as being true.
"Mmm, fully agree. Fully agree." Devyn said as she nodded her head a few times, biting her bottom lip as she thought of several things. She then scratched her head and looked to Cade, chuckling a little. "I should probably get back to skating before I have a problem on my hands." Devyn spoke up as she got back on her board and went back to skating. She could end up standing there and enjoying the view for a little longer, but they were here to skate so that was what she was going to do until Cade seemed satisfied with how long they would end up skating, or until Dev got tired.

"You don't have to skate all the time. I'm not like this dictator." Cade chuckled slightly.
"As for seduced by a girl in heels...no I haven't. You know that Devyn. I'm pretty new to this stuff, despite what I tell other people. Besides, I'm the kind of guy more likely to like a girl in sneakers than heels. Someone who appreciates comfort is more likely to be someone I can have fun around. And isn't that what a relationship should at least start with? I dunno. Maybe it's stupid."

"Well what else can we do? Game for hitting the arcade? Maybe grabbing some ice cream somewhere? I could go for some ice cream." Devyn said as she came to a stop on her board. She still kept moving, but it was mainly in large circles around where Cade was, after she got off the half-pipe. She didn't mind skating, but if they could do other things, then of course she wanted to do something else. If she was going to hang out with someone she wanted to do a bit more interaction with them while they talked.
Something, she needed to just do things, and well ice cream was great at cooling her off from heating up from just being out in the sun and seeing hot guys and girls walk past. She was already waiting for what Cade would be fine with doing, but the conversation was on about being seduced by girls in heels with Cade not agreeing. Man, this guy was picky. No wonder he had not had sex yet with his current standards. "You need to stop telling people that kind of stuff if it’s a lie. It's not good to lie and when people catch you in it, you are screwed. Especially if you like girls, they like honesty." Devyn said, in a tone like she was giving great sage advice.
It was true that a girl didn't want you to lie to her, but of course you still had to have that balance. You could be honest but you didn't want to be brutally honest when it came to everything, or else you were asking for trouble. She thought about his question on what a relationship should at least start with. "Mmm...I think it should start off with a sexual desire. That’s might just be me however." Devyn said as she gave a shrug. If you were not sexually attracted to the person and wanted to bang them, then what was the point? Might as well been just friends.
Post by Cade Carson on May 14, 2015 21:47:12 GMT -6
"Good advice. Except if I told the truth, I'd probably get made fun of for it. I mean...I go with the truth and some people don't even believe me." He looked pointedly at her and smirked.
"And...well a relationship could consist of both as starting points don't you think? It's possible to multi-task in that respect. And yes, ice cream sounds awesome. I know a shop not too far from here that has practically every flavour under the sun. I've been longing for a fudge and mint cone anyways. Maybe a scoop of pistachio. And one of blueberry. Whatever. I like to eat. I don't really care what scoops I get." He laughed and started walking, picking up his duffel on the way.
