Step 1: Assignment, Step 2: Awkward socialising.

The class by in large had been pretty boring. Social studies could very occasionally get interesting. The teacher had informed them, at the beginning of the class she had a surpise in store for them at the end of the class, which seemed to keep a few people interested. As the class finished up, the teacher announced to the class that the surprise was a research project, worth a lot of credit. And then announced pairings, much to the groaning of the whole class, then gave each pairing a subject matter.

Lydia quickly felt a surge of excitement rush through her as she got computer gaming and internet culture as a topic, and then due to her mutation making her look like she was always on about 5 shots of straight espresso, practically skipped over to her partner, who she didn't believe she had actually spoken to before this occasion. It struck her that the girl was rather cute, but she wasn't the type to swoon over anyone she thought was pretty.

She grinned at the girl "Hey! I guess we're partners! Nice to meet you, my name is Lydia!" she excitedly rambled, introducing herself. She did decide not to actually touch the other girl, or offer her hand for the a greeting shake or anything. Being excited probably meant she was giving off some static. Or maybe, at any rate. She didn't want to risk jolting the other girl, especially when she was trying to make a good first impression.

The blonde was practically brimming with energy, she wasn't typically into class projects, even if they did give some extra credit. But this one was such a fun topic for her that she was looking forwards to it, and her partner looked nice. At least, from the little flashes of her that Lydia had seen in class, even if she had never interacted directly with her before though... Okay, so maybe she might not be, but Lydia could hope!

The excitement radiating from the girl who stood before her and announcing that they were to be partners made Lux's eyes widen slightly and she felt her muscles tense. The forward way the girl approached her made the brunette feel extremely uncomfortable and she pursed her lips. "Uhm," she began, shifting awkwardly; at least she didn't reach her hand out for them to shake, so there was that, she supposed. "Hi," she replied finally, after taking a deep breath. "I'm uhm, Lux."

As much as Luxanna didn't really mind being paired with people she didn't know - it was a great way to get to know new people, she wasn't particularly happy about said pairing. Of course, that alone made her feel like a horrible human being, because the girl didn't at all deserve it. But that didn't change the simple fact that the level of energy the girl showed off made Lux feel like turning away and hiding.

"Nice to, ah, meet you too," she spoke, her voice nothing more than a hushed whisper. She could already feel the crimson flush spread across her face like wild fire, which also caused the brunette's heart rate to increase.

For someone as shy as Lux, forwardness scared the living shit out of her.

Lydia almost immediately felt awkward at the tightened body language by the other girl that was sat in front of her right now. The girl was defintely cute, but also awkard. Probably from the bouncy way in which Lydia had introduced herself. That or she just wasn't good with people, Lydia hoped it was the former, that could be fixed. She was always trying to make new friends.

Lydia tried to relax her body language a tiny bit. She did feel bad. She smiled, trying again to be a little more subdued. The girl usually didn't tone herself down at all, and did her absolute best to be herself, but if it was going to help an extremely cute girl feel more comfortable around her... she'd do it.

The gentle blush she picked up on intensified the awkwardness. Lydia mumbled out. "Uh.. sorry for if I came off as.... uhmmmm... uhh." Brain. Freeze. Worst timing. That pretty much summed up Lydia's awkwardness when it reared it's head in a social situation. "Sugar rush-y." She decided.
