Demi rapped her already wrapped knuckles on the door before folding them across her chest. She'd already changed into an official "training" gear, which had actually been provided to her via the academy. It felt slightly odd, what with it being a sleeveless top and a pair of tight "yoga" pants or something, though at least it was all done in school colors: black and gold. Demi, being Demi, added a few layers of dirt and dust, particularly on her bared sections.
She could still recall what had happened last time: Artemis James had came upon her while she'd been training. They'd started to fight... and then a stupid adult had shown up and insisted that they better regulate things. There had been some talk about Artemis even ending up on the Security Squad, which Demi thought... would actually work, but she wasn't about to say as much.
"Hey, James!" she yelled, hitting the door again. "It's Demi: you're supposed to come out and train with me so I can kick your butt!" she grinned at that, reaching up to tick her nose with a thumb. Yeah, this was gonna be fun. Well, her type of fun.

Someone was knocking at the door... A very loud someone... Artemis groaned a little, pouting as he slowly drew his covers up and over his face; He wasn't certain on the time, but he was sure it was undeniably early. Far too early to be dealing with vistors yelling through his door- Wait a moment. TRAINING. With a loud yelp of sudden realisation, Artemis threw his quilt off of himself with such vigour it landed in a crumpled pile on the floor, stumbling and floundering around his room like a baby bird as he franticly got himself dressed. Finally, with a wide and slightly goofy grin he threw open his room's door, his hair sticking up in wild tufts at odd angles; He was wearing training attire adapted for his mutation, the back of the sleeveless top split open to allow easy access to his wings. Save that difference, it mirrored Demi's almost exactly, down to the stunning gold and black of Bellefonte Academy's colours.
"I'm up, I'm up!" He spoke, fighting back the desire to yawn as he put a hand to the back of his head. The last time he'd encountered the female, she'd seemed quite insistant on wanting to "kick his butt" and it seemed that was still a goal of hers. Their previous training session however had been interrupted by a trainer, who insisted they calm it down. They did however surgest that Artemis work towards becoming a member of the security squad, which filed the boy with renewed vigour; He had his own goal now here at the Academy; He could potentially actually make a difference and aid the school. "You're going to show me how to train for the security team, right?" He grinned sleepily, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand, before pouting a little, raising a brow at her. "Wait, what was that about wanting to kick my butt?"
Demi rolled her eyes. He was just now getting up? Go figure. This was precisely why Demi was better than everyone else around here. Had he been taking a nap or something? It was either that or he definitely slept late. Though Demi could definitely see both. Gah, these people were kinda sad and pathetic.
"You're not out!" Demi retorted to his "I'm up" comments. She was expecting him to be all ready for the butt kicking. After all, they'd decided that this was a training thing that was going to happen. Demi still couldn't quite figure out what was going on there, why the school kept insisting that she train people and what have you. It seemed like some kind of conspiracy to Demi, but it was the kind that led to her beating people up, so she was willing to play along.
In this case, she ended up stepping back as Artemis had opened the door. She looked up at him. "Yeah, sure," she said, shrugging. "I'm mostly gonna see how well you handle that stupid power of yours. Oh," she tapped him on the chest, "and kick your butt." She smiled. "A lot."

Artemis honestly wasn't sure of the time, but judging from how late he'd finally fallen into bed the previous night after franticly trying to finish an assignment, well... It could very well be past noon. He surely was going to look like a complete unreliable idiot now... Which was far from what he wanted. Artemis felt more at home within the walls of the Academy then he'd ever felt back home, and with that feeling came a natural desire to want to protect it; He knew he wasn't exactly as useful as someone who could, for example, move around the very earth with their mind... But he was willing to put his all into protecting the school with everything he had. "Stupid power?" He spoke, blinking at the female before once again pouting, raising his brows. "I resent that... I'd like to see you fly-" She then poked him in the chest, repeating her promise to kick his butt. A lot. Artemis grinned brightly in response. "We'll see about that, Miss.Demi! I've been practising." He spoke proudly, before he tapped her on the shoulder. "A lot." He spoke proudly, but chose to avoid informing her during said practise he'd also crashed into other students when a sudden gust of wind knocked him off balance during flight.
He then blinked at Demi a moment, realising that this was going to make him look even more unprepared, casting her a quick sheepish smile and slowly backing back into his room before quickly snatching up his edited hoodie, and throwing it on over the top of his training uniform. He remembered how cold it had been the last time, something which overall didn't seem to effect his new trainer... He supposed it was the layer of dirt on her skin, which must surely go some way to preventing the cold's touch. He had, however, accidentally gotten his hoodie on skewed, and as he spent a few moments battling with it, spoke again. "Let's get going!"
Demi raised her brows as he repeated the bit about stupid power. There was something about flying in there too, which almost had Demi laughing. Yeah, let's see who ended up flying when it came down to the wire at the end. Demi did finally lose the fight against laughter as Arty talked about all the practicing he'd done, practically swelling up with pride at the mention.
"Oh yeah, totally. I'm sure you're a badass now," she said. Demi reached up to flick more dirt off her nose, then looked up at him, again with expectation. He backed away. She waited, though with a sigh and a pair of rolled eyes. Then eh came back, and Demi looked up at him.
"'bout time," she said. Demi gestured for Arty to follow and started taking off, using a brisk pace. "We're gonna use the arena again. They got stuff set up and there's gonna be first aid nearby if we need it or something. We'll probly start with working on some situations or something, work up to a training match," Demi actually sounded more excited as she talked. This was her element, what she'd trained for, what she lived for. The dirt and debris on her skin seemed to move all the faster, and her pace picked up as well, every bit of Demi in a rush to get to the "fun part."

Artemis blinked at the girl when she laughed, but didn't take it too much to heart; He knew he had far to go until he had mastered his ability, but he wasn't going to let Demi in on that... Although granted she was going to see for herself in the next hour or so. "Of course I'm a badass," He spoke lowly, with a pout, more to himself then to Demi as he quickly followed on after the girl as she set off at a brisk pace.
He hurriedly adjusted his hoodie as he followed on, listening to her as she described exactly what her plan of action was. She spoke as though she was used to this, as though it came completely naturally to her; Was this how the security team trained you? She seemed almost... Military like. Perhaps she came from a military background? His training sessions he'd had so far at the Academy with his trainer hadn't been anywhere near as regimented as this sounded. "You must really love training," Artemis spoke up brightly, walking quickly to catch up to her as he slipped his hands into his hoodie's front pocket. "But I guess having an ability like yours must make it pretty fun." He looked to the young girl with a warm smile. "Do you have other mutants in your family?" Artemis was honestly curious about his new trainer's background; She had such control over her ability already, despite being younger then himself; She must have been lucky enough to come ino her mutation early... Artemis had been a late bloomer, even Lucy had come into her mutation before him.

Demi let out a sharp laugh as Artemis called himself a badass. That had to be one of the funniest things she'd heard in some time, and she was glad that he was willing to joke about it. didn't stop her from picking up the pace. If anything, she went faster: if he were a badass, he could keep up. If not, well, he knew they were heading for the arena. Not hard to figure a path from there.
"Training's awesome," Demi said over her shoulder, pausing or a moment as Artemis came up to walk beside her. "And it's awesome for everyone, if you guys would stop being total wimps about your powers." She smiled at that, only to end up snorting at the followup question. "Uh, yeah? My entire clan's mutants. Every last one of us," she flicked her fingers. "That's kinda the whole point. You can't be an Inherited and not be a mutant."
She looked up at him, smirking. "I've been training in how to use my powers since I could really think about it. Now I've got them, and I'm gonna be the best at using them," she drew her arm out, rolling it, causing the dirt and dust to ripple along her arm. Demi knew her control was impressive: it should be, given how much time she spent on it. Drop her in a training room and watch her kick ass. Just keep her away from a classroom and definitely don't ask her about history or science.

She gave a sharp laugh, startling Artemis a little, but he found his smile remaining as he was actually kind of glad that he'd made her laugh, even if it was a touch at his expense. She quickened her pace, the boy turning his own up a notch in order to keep up; She was clearly was in a hurry to get their training started, although it was clear to Artemis she revelled in the idea of any excuse to use her powers... Something he had started to develop since spending time with Devyn and now Demi. It was refreshing, to be around those that truly embraced what they were and adored every aspect of it; Artemis already had a strong respect for Devyn in that regard, and Demi was well on her way to gaining that too. "I'm not a wimp," He pouted a little, before smiling and giving a light hearted laugh. "Well, I like to think I'm not... I guess suddenly gaining wings out of your back one day does kind of make you a little nervous about using them." He then felt his smile fade, his expression shifting to curiosity, raising a brow as she gave a small insight into her family. Clan? Inherited? ... Artemis had heard the "Inherited" being mentioned before by other students, although he wasn't quite sure what it was. Wasn't it a group of mutants who felt they were were above humans? Either way, Artemis didn't want to seem rude, so opted not to pry any further for now... Getting the young girl angry at him before their trai ing session likely wouldn't end well.
Artemis looked ahead, blowing out a sigh. "... I wish I'd be able to train as much as you. I didn't even know what a mutant was until the whole wing thing happened," He explained. "... It only happened a few months ago. But I want to try and master it as best I can." Yes; Artemis was determined that he was going to become an expert... He wanted to be a member of the security team, he wanted to be someone who could truly protect the Academy. He then looked to Demi, a bright smile on his face. "Thanks... By the way. For agreeing to train me."

"Yeah, you kinda are," Demi replied back, nodding her head slightly. "And you just gotta get used to it. It's part of you, and it's what makes you special, so learn to deal and suck it up."
Which wasn't quite what the Inherited generally preached, but it was pretty well how Demi felt about most of the wimpy people around here. They kept acting like being a mutant was some kind of disease, like you were going to die from it or something along those lines. that's what happened when you got Inherited from incompletes.
Arty sounded like he wanted to learn though. Demi looked at him at that, listening, just a few months ago. Yeah, that kept happening, though this guy looked older than her. Demi knew that not everyone got their powers at the same time: she herself had landed somewhere in the middle of the pack in that regard. He did want to master it, and even thanked her.
"Thank me after the butt kicking," she replied, keeping moving. "And the last person I trained got mad at me because of my beliefs and stormed off," she looked over at him, practically daring him to ask.

Artemis blinked at the young girl beside him when she confirmed her opinion of him being a wimp, but it did little now to falter his smile, not taking her comments to heart. To a degree, he agreed... Although he wouldn't fully admit it. But while he'd come into his mutation later then most, he'd come to accept it the fact he was a mutant within his short time at the school. He was still a little insecure about using his abilities just yet, but when it came to embracing his own definition, Artemis was more then happy too. Demi continued, telling him to basically suck it up and deal with what he had. She was pretty blunt... But still Artemis smiled; She was sharp tongued, but Artemis had taken it as a sign of her passion, her confidence in herself and her abilities; She was blunt about the subject because she was certain of herelf, a trait surely to be admired in an Academy where so many feared their newfound powers.
"... Hey, I'll give it all I've got, I can butt kick like the best of them," Artemis replied confidently, although inwardly he highly doubted it; He'd already seen the stunning display of power control Demi held, the almost effortless way she manipulated earth. He found his eyeline drawn for a moment to the dirt covering her skin, which seemed to almost be shuddering in anticipation of the upcoming training session. Artemis couldn't help but feel he was going to be an aching mess at the end of this... Demi then however said something which brought the boy from his thoughts, blinking with an expression somewhere between curiosity and confusion. "... Your beliefs?" He spoke questioningly, unsure if he should press any further; But then she had practically opened it up for him to inquire... Hopefully she wouldn't think it rude. "... What are your beliefs?"

Demi looked askance at the man as he insisted that he could kick butt. She raised a brow, "Yeah, right..." she said, but she paused before going all the way with it, still looking at him considering. "Maybe if, like, you practice really hard and stop wussing out," she finally concluded, looking forward again. she could see something in him that seemed to resonate slightly. Or maybe Demi was just excited about the prospect of someone who would at least be willing to train with her without asking too many dumb questions.
Though, of course, he had to ask the one that she'd been half dreading. Demi almost paused; she certainly remained silent for several steps. "I'm an Inherited," she offered, keeping her tone slightly level, if a little edged, and looking only at him out of the corner of her eye. "You should be: we all should be. We're the ones who have been completed by the Divine Will, ordained to someday take over and be in charge of everyone else."
Demi looked ahead, rolling a shoulder slightly, letting the dirt and debris clinging to her move along with the motion. "We've just got to train first," and they didn't have much longer till they got to the place to start doing just that.

Demi's comment actually caught Artemis by surprise; She didn't strike him as someone who gave out any admittance like that without reason, regardless of how small it was. She thought he could actually pose a threat... If he trained... Which Artemis translated to meaning that she thought he had some potential, which was enough to uplift his spirit about the upcoming training session. This uplift however was short lived, as his question seemed to throw her off slightly; The girl fell silent for some moments, continuing at her steady pace. Artemis felt his heart sink, furrowing his brow as he turned his gaze forward again, fearing he may have delved too far and upset his new trainer. It wasn't really his place to ask, surely, when they'd barely spent time together as of yet? The last thing he'd wanted to seem was rude... He was about to voice his concerns and offer her an apology when she finally spoke.
Her words confirmed the rumour he'd heard in regards to her, that she was a member of some mutant group... That believed themselves very much above average humanity. Demi's words were almost far from her own, more so as though they were from some verse or text she'd been told to memorise; And it sent a small flicker of awkward uncertainty through Artemis. He... Didn't believe he was above anyone, human or otherwise... Demi clearly felt differently, but a difference in opinion wouldn't prevent Artemis from training with her, or being friends with her; He didn't think too much of most religious practises, but that didn't mean he couldn't be friends with those that did. He was more worried that such an extreme view was... Unhealthy. But what could he say at this point? If she truly felt that way about humans, voicing his concerns now before they'd had a chance to potentially become friends would only end up with him having to likely deal with her sharp tongue and lose him a trainer. He bit his bottom lip, choosing to ignore her comments in regards to the Inherited, instead giving her a small grin. "Yes, training is something I'm actually looking forward to," He spoke, a touch too quickly. "I mean, I really want to get on the squad, you know? I want to do something to help protect this school." He then gave a determined nod, before looking ahead, the doorway to arena at the end of their current corridor; Well, here goes nothing... He hoped he wouldn't end up aching TOO badly once their training session was over.

Oh look, another long silence. That was new. Not. Demi nearly sighed as she watched Artemis throughout her whole spiel, likely trying to figure out what that was all about. yes, she did believe that. More than that: Demi thought it made more sense than what the stupid here believed and kept saying. She was all ready to start defending herself but instead got the other reaction she'd half been expecting:
easy acceptance.
Those people usually didn't think that the whole thing really mattered to them. Demi wanted to disagree, but at the same time, she didn't see a point if they weren't going to press the issue. They were stupid enough without her having to continually argue that point with them. So she just nodded as Arty insisted on the training and stuff.
"You won't protect anyone at the rate you're going," she pointed out. she'd started walking again, already seeing the grounds they'd reserved for training. "Hope that you're ready to get your power and your self synched up, because if not," she smiled almost viciously at him, "I'm definitely gonna enjoy pounding you to a pulp."
And then Demi was walking into the arena proper, once more counting on Arty to just follow suit.
