Adapting To Adaptation

"Yes, Luxanna Willow Viera. Can you send her to my office as soon as she is free?" Seiji asked the person he was speaking with on the phone. He could not help but to sound a little urgent so made sure to point out that Lux was free to come down when she had time. He was just so excited, perhaps more then he should have been for what little he had but it was progress. He always got excited when it came to making progress and it seemed that after hitting the books, running test, and a little outside help was starting to pay off. He didn't have a cure and he didn't have any actual full proof solution to the 'problem'.

What Seiji had was an understanding and with it a way to take a new approach to Luxanna's side-effect that came with her power. Now he just needed to actually talk to the girl about it and see if he was allowed to proceed further. Most of it had already been done without her permission but he technically never really needed a student’s permission unless he was taking a sample. In Lux's case he had been given the samples that had been taken from her the last time she had to go to the nurses from using her power. However, now he did actually need her okay before he tried to do anything that she might not have wanted.

He didn't know the girl so could not just assume that she actually wanted to do anything about the power. "Ghost, go under my desk for now." Seiji ordered his snake who obeyed but was moving extra slow, reluctant to hide away when there was going to be a new person coming over to visit. Seiji was dressed a bit more warmly then he normally dressed, but he was getting over the last bit of a bug that had hit him. Oh, and he had already scrubbed down his place and himself to make sure that Lux would not end up catching anything.

She had gotten the note during class. The teacher had stepped up to her desk and notified her that her presence was wanted down at the lab. At first, the brunette had been worried, but she had to remind herself that this was hardly the first time someone had approached her - and like before, it was likely about her power. Nodding, Luxanna had offered the teacher a smile before going back to finish what she was doing in terms of school work. She wasn't about to leave her class, after all.

However, once her class finished, the adapter moved towards her locker to store her things and books. She had then made her way down towards the labs. Her hands folded behind her back - mostly to avoid getting too nervous by fiddling with them.

Stopping outside the door to the lab, the brunette took a deep breath before lifting her hand to give the door a knock. "Mr.. Uhm, Lockard?" she called out hesitantly. "It's Lux... Err, Miss Viera." She could already feel her cheeks heat up and they were undoubtedly getting redder by the second. She was hardly a social person and speaking to new people, under such circumstances made her feel a little extra awkward than what she did already. It couldn't be helped, she supposed.

Her hand dropped to the handle then as she pushed the door open. Peeking her head through the crack, Luxanna's green eyes scanned the room for a moment before opening the door enough for her to step inside. God, her hands felt so clammy. She was so nervous. "Hello?" she called out.

Ghost was still taking his sweet time to get all of his body under Seiji's desk and out of site by the time Lux had arrived. Seiji meanwhile had been busy trying to lift up and shove the snake fully under the desk and that was why he was unable to get to the door as soon as he heard the knock. "Co-come in Miss Viera, or Lux if you prefer!" Seiji called out, unsure if she heard him or not. He quickly worked on lifting up what part of Ghost's body was sticking out from under the desk and did his best to tuck it away.

It was a lot harder to move Ghost when the snake was making sure to make himself heavy and moving in such a way that his muscles were tight and thus made him hard to bend and move. At any rate, he could hear the door opening just as he managed to get Ghost fully tucked away. "Now.." Seiji said followed by a load bang as he hit his on the edge of his desk as he moved to quickly get to his feet. He then froze where he had hit his head, hand quickly going up to the location as he rubbed it and held in the cry of pain that wanted to sneak out.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch." Seiji repeated as he rubbed his head, feeling himself heat up and no doubt was red from embarrassingly hitting his head on his desk in possible view of the person he requested to come see him. How was she going to trust him now when she probably thought he was a fool. Just great, things were not going as smooth as he had hoped they would. "Please...come in and have a seat." Seiji said as he gestured as the seat once he was able to get past the pain and carefully stand up this time. Ghost did peek his head out a little, but it was mainly to check to see if his master was okay.

Stopping abruptly, Luxanna looked over at the guy she was supposed to be seeing; it looked as if he was in pain and she didn't really know how to react to it all, so instead, she simply stood there, staring with wide eyes as she waited for a cue - anything - that indicated that he was okay, or that she was supposed to do anything about it. He seemed to let it go then as he offered her to take a seat. Nodding, Lux walked over to the seat he'd offered and sat down.

She crossed her feet and rested her hands in her lap. Her fingers interlocked and the brunette lifted her gaze to look at the man. "Are you okay?" she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly. At least, that was a start. She felt slightly uncomfortable, just as she did around anyone she didn't really know. It was fairly normal, and nothing against the guy himself.

He almost seemed nearly as awkward about it all as she did. Oddly enough, that did make Luxanna feel a little more at ease, knowing that she wasn't the only one who was bad with meeting new people. "Uhm, you wanted to see me?" she attempted, her head tilting as she pressed her lips together in an attempt to avoid biting her lower lip.

Seiji was fine that she didn't do anything or offer any help, he was fine handling the matter himself and was already terribly embarrassed about the matter. Having her help probably would have just made him feel even less like a dependable person there to help her. He didn't want that, he wanted to help her and all the students at the school who wanted to understand their power and get help with the 'negatives' that came with it.

Some of the things he was asked to help fix were things that he did not actually think were negatives. Everyone had their own opinion however and it was their power after all so he could not judge. "I'm fine, thank you for asking." Seiji assured her, giving her a thankful and friendly smile. It was nice that she had at least asked. That made him feel oddly a little bit better, but he really was going to have a talk with Ghost for being slightly the cause of his fumble. Ghost was staying under the desk but he was certainty flicking out his tongue to take in information on the human female that was in the office.

Ghost's tail was already wagging in anticipation to just meet her if he was ever allowed to come out from under the desk. "I did, don't worry you are not in trouble." Seiji said, trying to make a little joke there. he had in no way shape or form the area of punishing people, he was just there to help and that was it. "It's about your power, I don't know if you are aware but the school had information on everyone power here and the school and well yours had flags on it do to certain side-effects that comes along with it. As the Side-Effect Specialist here, it’s my job to help with the problems of side-effects." Seiji explained and then cleared his throat.

"So uh...I'm just here to help you and called you done because I wanted you to be aware that some work has been done in regards to your power." Seiji said, trying to think of the simplest way to say it. He didn't want it to be complicated but he had to at least give her a little bit of what his job was and what he had been doing. She had not sought him out so it was probably a little weird for her to be the one summoned.

Luxanna nodded slowly at the information the man offered her; yes, she had been aware of that. Or rather, she'd expected it to be that way. It would be weird for a school with mutants not to keep track of the various powers and the way they all worked, right? After all, they were meant to be some sort of safe haven for kids to teach them how to control their powers so they could live normal lives out in the big, scary world without risking outing the mutant population.

And really, Lux didn't at blame them. As much as she understood how many didn't want to be here, it was all for the greater good. After all, it would do neither of them any good if they all got found out. It would be SPECTRE all over again.

Lux's head perked up at the next part however. "O-oh?" she asked, her eyes darting towards the man as she waited. She wondered if he really had come up with something that could help her. She already knew she couldn't turn the power off or on - that was out of her control, what with it being reactive and all. And negating it didn't work either, because without it, she'd choke. She'd already tried that.

It was a little ironic really. The same power that was slowly killing her, was also keeping her alive.

The girl seemed to be paying attention, but Seiji was having a hard time getting a read on if she was happy to hear of all of this. Most of the kids at the school loved the fact that there had been work done on their power, especially the ones that were having trouble with it. What was more trouble than a power that did keep you alive, but also was killing you slowly? Not much. Still, he did expect a little more excitement, but he was getting mostly shock. Understandable as well, with the way her power was it was certainty a delicate matter.

Just as she looked, very delicate and like a flower that was rare and you had to protect it. He nodded his head yes at her 'oh'. "Most of it had been hypothesis based with a few test preformed on rodents, but not much. The most that had been done is just a better understanding of your power. How it works, its positives, its negatives, and so on. It is a very interesting power and had kept me up for several nights in a row back when I was really looking into it and what could be done." Seiji admitted.

He even talked in such a way that showed that he had a great deal of interest in the power and had put time and effort into understanding it. "However, I can't fully act on creating treatments specific to you, without your permission. While you are a student of the school, it still likes to have the student’s permission when it comes to powers such as yourself. So while I have several ideal methods that would help you, I can't act on them without your say so." Seiji said as he moved around a little to make himself comfortable. He stopped then, letting that set in and to see what she had to say on the matter.
