With the hood of her car popped open, the telekinetic cussed under her breath. She was no mechanic, and had very little knowledge about how cars worked. Which just made this situation so much better, since clearly something was wrong with her car, and she had absolutely no idea how to fix it. It didn't really help that the campus more or less felt like a ghost town without all the "trouble kids" rolling about. At least Jack was gone. She had that much going for her. And that creepy shemale that kept asking for her number.
Did she know anyone else on the trip? She didn't know. It didn't really matter much in the end. It wasn't her usual crowd anyways, and thank the lords for that.
Running the back of her hand over her forehead, Erika groaned as she turned around, her back leaning against the front of the car as she closed her eyes. At least the weather was somewhat pleasant. She couldn't wait for summer to come and chase the last bits of cold away.
She had never been one for the cold weathers, which made it so much more ironic that she lived in Montana. Ah well. At least it was prettier here than most other places. She had that going for her. Maybe she should just have left the car be and gone hiking or something. Her schedule was pathetically empty this week, and she had no assignments to hand in, save for the costumes she had promised to make for that one college dude who had started his own club.
She probably should have done that instead of this - and at the very least, it would have offered some distractions from everything else.

Karsen kicked off on his skateboard drinking the coffee had gotten from in town. It was one of those rare days where his coordination was only comprised a bit. He could deal with that, plus he had gotten really got a blocking out signals that he didn’t want to connect to. It was awesome in its own sense but it did make him a bit jumpy. He thought it was a small price to pay and since he had his phone on him and his laptop in his backpack he wasn’t too out of touch with technology.
He turned into the parking lot, mostly because he knew that this was the one place a teacher wouldn’t yell at him for skateboarding. It wasn’t a good idea sot skate in front of the school, to many people walking around so many things to bump into. He couldn’t help but notice the car hood propped open and a girl standing in front of it. He didn’t want to assume that she needed help...okay yeah it didn’t look like she was fixing it.
He turned towards her and pushed his board a little stopping for picking it up and walking over."Do you need help or are you waiting for a mechanic?" He stopped when he was a sort of in front of her but not to close. He didn’t want to just randomly stopped beside some girl he never interacted with. He loved cars, it reminded him of the days he spent helping his dad in his garage besides the added advantage of it being a machine with a pulse.

Erika's attention was pulled away as a young boy approached her. Her head tilted slightly and her lips pursed. Then, Erika offered the boy an almost sheepish smile. "Do you know how to fix cars?" Maybe asking or calling for help would have been the best option for her to go with, but for someone who wasn't used to asking for help, that was out of the question. Or rather, it hadn't really crossed her mind. Turning her attention back to the popped up hood. "As you can see, I'm sort of out of my element." She tossed the machinery a skeptical look before looking at the boy over her shoulder.
Pausing for just a brief moment, Erika shrugged. "If you think you can do something about it, go for it." With that, Erika stepped to the side. She gestured towards the black BMW and offered the guy something of a smile. Maybe he was one of those who had the kind of power that helped with this sort of stuff. He looked much too young to be a mechanic, but hey, she was hardly one to judge. Besides, there was so many cool powers out there, Erika had learned not to be surprised anymore.
Karsen nodded “Yeah i’ve worked with cars in my dad’s garage plus it has a battery so electric pulses” He giving her a reassuring smile or at least what he thought was one. He set his skateboard, his coffee and his bag down on the ground and walked over towards the car. “Yeah, if it’s something simple it’s a quick fix but if it’s something big you’ll need parts. There’s a junkyard in town that has awesome parts for cars.” Of course he used the car parts for other things and not cars because he didn’t have one.
“Does it start up or is it just smoking or something?” He asked, not wanting to touch it if it was overheating. There was no need for him to go into this without asking questions, at least that's what his dad did in his garage. When he looked under the hood trying to find the problem, hoping that it was with the hood and not underneath car. He didn’t have a jack and he was pretty sure the girl did, or maybe she did.

There was a bit of an explanation there, which had Erika offering the boy a smile, and then a nod. Alright, well, he clearly knew a whole lot more than what she did, and it wasn't like he could do any further damage, right? Right... There was a bit more, which had the telekinetic nodding again. "Alright, well... Whatever you need." She offered him a sheepish smile. It was more than obvious that Erika had no clue what was wrong with the car or what was needed in order to fix it. Of course, she was probably better off sending it to a garage or something, but if the boy could help, she wasn't going to stop him.
"It doesn't start. The engine makes those, uhm, starting noises--" another sheepish smile. "--when I turn the key, but it doesn't actually start up. It tries, but fails." If there was something Erika didn't particularly enjoy, it was acting as if she was trying to understand something she clearly didn't. She had a list of skills she was quite proud of, but cars and how they worked was not one of them. If anyone needed someone to do splits or detail the history of art, she was your girl. Cars? Not a chance.

KKarsen nodded and gave up trying to manually find the problem with tools, He waved his hand over the battery and waited for the car to turn on. He got a pulse from the battery so he knew it wasn’t the battery. It was probably a number different things, he wondered when the last time she had gotten her car maintenance was.
He disconnected himself from the car and held on to the side of the hood to steady himself. Of course the wave of dizziness had to hit him immediately after, he could always count on that. Shaking his head to clear it he turned to look at her “So uhm most of the time the starting noise means that the battery is dead, but that’s not the case. Yes your battery is starting to die but it’s not there yet. It’s the wiring, there’s either a loose connection or a short.” he said checking the car once more to make sure he had gotten all of the basic problems.
“Okay and you might wanna have your car matiances i get the feeling that it’s lacking something maybe the Oil or the brake fluid i could never tell the difference the pulse is the same.” He scratched his head as he looked around the hood, not finding anything else to comment on so he closed the hood and wiped his hands on his jeans.
“Okay so i see three options, I can fix the problem with wiring myself with the spare wires in my bad, I have electrical tape. Option two is I can start the car with my power and you drive to the mechanic, though I warn you, if you stop and turn the car off it won’t start again. The third option is to call a tow truck to the garage or whatever.” He went over and picked his coffee back up, because he was thirsty and needed his caffeine fix.

Staring at the boy with a blank expression, she waited for him to finish. Blinking, she looked from the boy to the car, and back at the boy again. "Uhm," she said, her head shaking faintly. It was more than obvious that the telekinetic had no idea which option was the best, though calling a tow truck did sound like the best, because she had no idea how good this kid actually was with his power, and she'd rather not damage her BMW more than what it was already.
Tossing the boy an uncertain gaze, Erika's lips pursed as she thought over her options. "I think I'll just call that tow truck. No offense, but that sounds like the less risky option." She offered him something of a smile, which resembled a mix between sheepish and apologetic.
Though, it seemed like the kid had a good head on him. He 'd probably understand.
"Thanks though," she said, gesturing towards the opened hood. "For the help I mean. Is there any way I can pay you back?" Coffee, money, anything, really. It wasn't like she was lacking in money or resources.

Karsen could tell by the look that she probably didn't want him working on her car. It was fine with him, there was no way she'd believe he'd been working cars since he was five. Although helping his dad in the garage he owned probably didn't count as doing the work himself. he shrugged his shoulders and took a pen and piece of paper out of his backpack. "Here's the number, I go there a lot to help out stuff. He's a pretty cool dude, make sure you ask him to Maintenance your care. If there's a lot of people there he might only fix what the problem is right now and not what's going to be a problem" He didn't have anything else to add really.
"You're welcome and no it's no problem you don't have to pay me back" He didn't know which twin she was and there was no way he was going to charge Drew's girlfriend for looking at her car, he wouldn't even charge her if he had taken it apart and put it back together. On the off chance that it was Elsa instead of Erika it was it his good deed for the day. He wasn't sure if he should wait until the tow truck came or what...he really did want to fix her car but that was probably because he had taken on of those breaks from technology the counselor lady was always talking about.

Smiling, the brunette chuckled as she accepted the note he'd written down the number on. "Thanks again," she replied, her brows furrowing slightly. She still felt as if she had to do something in order to pay him back. That only felt right, after all. "You sure?" she asked. "I mean, it's no problem." It could be something as simple as offering him to take him out for coffee or something. After all, he had spent part of his own time trying to help her out, and even though she had opted for the safer option of actually getting her car checked out by professionals, it still counted.
"I mean, how about I pay you back with coffee or something?" Then again, she didn't even know if the kid drank coffee. How old was he anyways? Boy, how embarrassing would it be if he turned out to be one of those 13-14 year olds that looked so much older for their actual age. Awkward.
Holding up the note, she read the number as she dialed the number into her phone. She held it up against her ear as she called the tow truck. She explained where her car was and what was wrong with it. She then thanked them, and told them she'd wait around with the keys until they showed up. Once the call had ended, she turned towards the boy. Leaning back against the hood of the car, she offered the boy a smile. "I'm Erika by the way."

Karsen wasn’t sure why she was so dead set on paying him back but it had to be one of those not owing anybody anything. He was down with that only he hadn't really done anything, plus the way he saw it he would want someone to help him if he was having trouble with cars. Only that would never happen because of his ability. He waved it off “No, honestly I'd feel bad if I charged you because I didn’t even fix your car and besides i’m always helping people with computer problems and stuff for free it’s not that much of a stretch."
Ah, so she was Drew’s girlfriend. He was right not to charge her or take anything from her. He didn’t even know if she should say anything so he just kept quiet about it. It would be weird for some guy to do her favors just because he was associate with her boyfriend. At least it would be weird in his eyes, it just meant that he would check in at the garage to make sure they were doing it right.
“I’m Karsen”He said returning the smile, he would wait until the tow truck came. Just to see who was driving it. He wondered how he got himself into these situations. It was kind of why he didn’t leave his room. He got the urge to take apart cars and make sure everything is put together.

"Alright, if you're sure," she replied with a shrug. If he didn't want something in return, she wasn't going to push for it. Especially not if the guy felt as if he hadn't done anything to deserve it. She supposed she could understand that. Even if she didn't agree. He had helped - maybe not much, but it was the thought that counted, right? Ah well, it didn't matter.
"It's nice to meet you, Karsen," she greeted him again. She wondered briefly if he was one of those kids who didn't go out a lot, seeing as how she didn't know who he was. Or maybe he was just new - though, he didn't really carry himself like one of the newer students. He seemed a little too comfortable with his power to be one of those.
It was almost a little funny how easy it was to separate newer students from those who'd stuck around for a while. It would have been, if not most of them had been so scared. It made her feel sad, especially as she knew that they were mostly forced to be here against their will. Thankfully, most kids seemed to warm up to the idea as they grew older, but in all honesty, Erika couldn't blame them for feeling the way some of them did.
It wasn't fun being dragged away from your family.

Karsen nodded, while taking another sip out of his coffee mug. He was contemplating how much time it would take him to find something else to do. He had already used his power so it was kind of pointless not to go back to his dorm. He could also skateboard more, maybe run into another person, but he was kind thinking going to the coffee shop and talking to Erika kinda qualified as human interactions.
"Nice too meet you also" He said awkwardly having no idea what to say back to that. Yes he knew what to say in return because it was basic greeting one oh one, but it still felt awkward coming from his lips. Perhaps, it was just because he hadn't said it first...yup that was it. "Sorry, i don't mean to linger...I just would feel bad if I left and they they had you waiting for hours." It was true, it had happened to this lady and she had came yelling at the guy who ran the garage. It wasn't his fault the tow truck had other things to do but Karsen had found it completely hilarious.
Of course he hadn't laughed because that would've been considered rude. He was still trying to convince the owner to give him a job there. It wasn't as if it would be a big risk, and his only reference was his father and he was positive that didn't count. People couldn't go around saying yeah Karsen used his mystical magical mutant powers to fix my car and stuff.

"Oh, don't worry," she said, offering the boy a reassuring smile. "I don't mind the company." It was true though. As potentially awkward as this was, the telekinetic was glad that there was still some people around with a little courtesy. Besides, Erika sincerely doubted the two of them would have to wait overly long. Sure, the school was a bit away from tome, but when she'd called, they hadn't sounded overly busy.
Leaning against her car, Erika offered the kid another smile. "You're a student, right?" He didn't seem like a college student. He seemed a bit on the young side for that, even though it wouldn't have been the first time someone younger had managed to skip a few grades, due to all the potential they'd had. Now, she could see this kid having that kind of potential, of course, but it was so rare, it was easier to guess that people weren't college students when they didn't look the part.
And she wasn't exactly the best at guessing ages either, but hey, it didn't really matter. This was nothing more than small talk, and Erika didn't know the kid well enough to talk about anything with a deeper meaning.

Karsen nodded and smiled, "Okay" He wasn't exactly sure what to do now. He had thought she'd insist that she was okay by herself and then he could make his escape. However, nope he to be polite. Next time he was just going to make his escape should he ever be in situation again, though he knew he would act the same way. He was actually a nice person, he knew that he should just probably stay in the house from now on.
"Yep I just don't get out much because I'm always building things" It was no surprise that the young technopath was dying to transform his room into a lab of somesort. However he knew that he probably couldn't because rules and such. Although he could with his room back home, but he went home for the summer, he'd probably be blackmailed into transferring schools.
"There was a rocket powered skateboard idea...and a engine...I got advised to get out more. I've never actually notices how many people went to this school." He said rubbing the back of his neck. It's as if he had gotten actual rocket fuel..it was just an engine. Even if the skateboard did almost run someone over, it was a process of perfection.

"Oh, really? That's cool!" She'd always admired people who could create things with their hands. Maybe it was her inner art student that fangirled, or maybe she just had that kind of interest. Though, she supposed that at the end of the day it didn't really matter. It wasn't like her motives mattered as much as the praise - and as long as the praise was true, which it was. "What kind of things do you build?" She was genuinely curious. Maybe he was one of those genius kids who built super computers and robots and stuff.
Her eyebrows went up as he continued. "A rocket powered skateboard," she repeated, issuing a chuckle. "Wow." Her head tilted slightly. "Huh, well, I guess being around all that technology isn't very healthy." Though, she was hardly one to talk, considering how often she spent full days just drawing and making clothes. She could fully understand wanting to give yourself wholly and completely into your hobbies.
"You should use one of the empty labs," she said then, shrugging her shoulders. "Unless you have another place, of course. I mean, there's plenty of them and some of them are even empty." She didn't see any reason as to why the boy couldn't use it. In fact, they'd ought to open up the lab for any kids interested in building stuff. They already had an art studio and a dancing studio. Why not lend out one of the empty labs to those who wanted to use it for something? She could even help the kid with that, given her last name and all.
