Devyn had heard things about Demi, a young girl with a good level of control over her power, words about her getting into trouble with the staff from time to time, and the most interesting fact of all that she was still pretty young. The youngest person probably on the trip and Devyn had yet to actually interact with the younger girl. She actually really wanted to meet her, as well as fight her, but in a good way. She didn't want to beat the girl up for the sake of beating her up, but she wanted to see just how skilled this girl was with her power.

That and it had been a while since Devyn had a good spar with someone. Since they were on the camping trip, she felt like this was the perfect time to meet the girl and get the fight she so desired. It was actually a little bit difficult to track the younger girl down, with how she smelled mostly of dust and soil, which was basically all around them now that they were out in the woods. She had to end up using her power in order to get a real lock on the girl, which she figured would present some problems one Demi saw her, but she just hoped the girl didn't go run off screaming or straight into the fight right away.

The shadow smoke spelled out repeated around Devyn, forming the words over and over since that was what her mind was currently focused on as she sniffed around, tracking the girl down. She quickly found her, but made sure to keep herself calm enough to approach the girl like a curious being then one that wanted to straight up mall the girl. She didn't want to do the latter at all. She even made sure to make a lot of noise as she walked over to the girl, not wanting to startle her and also wanted to get her attention.

So a random shadowy wolf showed up out of no where.

Demi had been thoroughly enjoying herself thus far. Getting out here was sort of like heading home, even if they did have to deal with the annoying adults and all. Though since Demi wasn't really acting up and had actually volunteered for this, she wasn't nearly as observed as the others. Plus, most of what she'd been doing was just surviving like they were supposed to.

So the girl looked like the survivor she was. Dirt and forest debris clung to her homemade clothing, looking almost like armor. A spear had been slung over her shoulder: obviously handmade and something that Demi left whenever she got back to the main camp. Right now she'd been foraging for edibles, so she had a clutch of mushrooms in a bag tied around her waist.

And now she faced down a shadow wolf: obviously one of the other students. 'Uh, yeah, that's me. What do you want?" she demanded, scrunching up her nose. Did they send this mutant out to find her or something? That did sound like something they'd do. Or had this person just heard about her and sought her out...?

And if so, why?

Devyn remained in her shifted form for a moment, looking over the smaller girl, and sizing her up on some levels. She looked like she had already reverted to a state of a wild child, no longer being one with society. It was impressive at just how far she was going with this survival thing and living it all on the woods style of things. Yet, even Devyn had not gone as far as to start making her own clothing and what not. She could do it, but why put in all that work when she only had to worry about a few things in order to survive.

It was good that Demi was not freaking out or going right to the attack now that Devyn was standing before her. The girl even seemed game for talking, and since Devyn could not communicate very well in her current form, she started to work on breaking down her shadows. It didn't take long for Devyn to be standing in front of Demi in her human form. She rolled her shoulders a little bit before taking a few steps closer to the girl. "Hey, I'm Devyn. I don't really know if you know me but I have heard some things about you. Impressive things." Devyn said as she gave Demi a friendly smile.

Yes, the girl was pretty small, not as small now that Devyn was in her human form but still smaller than her all the same. She had to be in her early teens at best and she had this kind of cute spunk about her that made Devyn want to ruffle her hair a little. "I was wondering if you would be game for a little spar, with our powers." Devyn said, looking at Demi's spear. She was sure she could handle going against someone with a spear but she preferred not being double stabbed.

Demi's brows furrowed as Devyn changed back. Yeah, a shifter: she'd pretty well called it. Those were always the hardest to really get into the Flow, though Demi had seem some really cool ones who could still sort of pull off some martial arts style attacks while in another form. Somehow she doubted that "Devyn" (gah, what a stupid name) would be among those.

Didn't stop Demi from smirking as Devyn mentioned hearing impressive skills. "That's because I'm good," Demi replied. She reached up with a hand, flicking some of the dirt that had gathered under her nose off. It hovered in the air for a moment before falling, letting Demi show off some of her power.

The request had her barking a laugh. "Here? Do you want me to beat you up that badly?" Demi asked. She turned, gesturing. "The last time someone thought they were all bad and attacked me here I ended up dragging them through the mud. And that was last year," Demi turned, raising a brow and gesturing at Devyn. "All you got is a shadow form? I'd end up skinning you like I do the squirrels."

Devyn knew how to fight outside of her wolf form, but in her wolf form it mainly conceited of tackles, bites, clawing, holding down, and well the general things that went along with a mauling. She was pretty confident that she could do some damage in either of her forms but she was not looking to do anything bad to the girl. She really was here to see the skills she heard people talk about and to just have a taste of them. Her inner alpha could not help but want to challenge the little girl but it was not for the sake of dominance or wanting to be better.

It was purely because she thought it would be fun and a good way to let off some aggression with someone who could likely handle dishing out pain and taking it. "Well at least you are not shy about what you can do." Devyn said, chuckling a little. The girl clearly had an ego, but she was young and likely strong so Devyn didn't see a problem with her having one for the time being. Demi then showed off some of her power, allowing Devyn to see how the girl controlled it and that again she did have a decent amount of control over her power. Demi was likely the type to train a lot, which just made all of this even more exciting.

"Well I'm not here with the idea of losing in mind, but if I lose that means I just have to work on my power control and using it against opponents in a 'not kill them' kind of way." Devyn said as she gave a small shrug. She was already starting to make the shadows around them flicker and pull in her direction. Demi seemed like she would still be up for it and with her ego well things would most certainly be interesting. She still planned on making sure that she would alter her form slightly as to not seriously injure Demi. "The shadows take on the form of fur, but they are capable of doing more than that. I just want a friendly spar. Up for it?" Devyn asked as she rolled her shoulders a few times.

Demi smirked as Devyn pointed out her bravado. Oh yeah, she definitely wasn't shy when it came to her abilities. Or her beliefs. Or really just not shy in general. Demi was pretty much as close to the opposite of shy as a person could really get, and she was darn proud of it.

The earth seemed to pick up on her emotions, her usual orbit of dirt and debris spinning just a bit faster. Devyn kept explaining, talking about losing her mind and stuff. Demi wasn't sure what that was about, probably some sort of side effect or something. She knew that happened with people, especially if they didn't train as well as they should. It definitely wasn't going to happen with her.

"Whatever," she just managed, rolling her eyes. "Like I said: If you really want me to kick your butt, that's fine by me," Demi rolled her body, picking up some more dirt and even smaller rocks as she did. The girl took a deep breath, daring to close her eyes for the moment. Demi knew that if she entered full Flow, she'd wipe the floor with this stupid idiot...

Devyn was pleased that the girl seemed up to give things a go, even if the girl seemed to think a little too high of herself. Then again, there was nothing really wrong with it at her age and if she was good then it was not that big of a deal. She could learn to be humble later on when she got her butt kicked by someone or just understood that it was not a very flattering things to have such a big ego. Devyn was not here to give a life lesson and she was already starting to pull the shadows to her and making them crawl their way up her body.

She didn't care if she one, lost, or whatever. She was just here to have some fun and test of this little girl’s skill. Part of her recalled that Vera had run into Demi before so she was interested in seeing just how this younger girl was. Devyn didn't say anything and instead just chuckled a little before letting the shadows take over. It happened quick, being engulfed by the shadows as they changed form. The shadow smoke appeared, swirling around Devyn as the shadows bended and molded them to form Devyn's shadow beast form.

Once more the beast stood in front of Demi, letting out something close to a low growl but not quite. She waited for a moment, making sure all of her shadows was settled in and layered thick so she would not have to worry about her form being broken through easily. Then she lunged forward, her back paws pushing off the ground as her front aimed for Demi. She did at least make sure that she put away the claws on her form to prevent from any serious injury to Demi.

As Demi had expected: the girl proved to be a shifter of some kind. The form did look pretty darn awesome, even Demi had to admit to that. It would have been interesting to see the principles of Flow applied to this particular manifestation of the mutant gene. Maybe she'd do some sort of wolf-fu.

Though right now, Demi needed to focus on her own Flow. She saw the beast coming for her, and she darted to the side. With this much dirt and debris about, Demi could move quicker. her mind continually pushed the rocks and dirt, making sure that each footfall landed securely. With this much free rein, Demi could outright slide and glide across the ground like a surfer.

She slid back now, then spun, moving continuously and flinging a few bits of dirt at the girl. She needed to see how much control Devyn had, what her reactions were like. Some testing before she totally buried the idiot. All Demi had to wonder was whether she should lead the wolf into a trap or not. Maybe only if it looked like it might be too easy or too hard...

Devyn was excited for whatever would happen, and was not worried about a win or a loss; she didn't even care if she got hurt. Her shadow armor did pretty well at keeping her safe from a lot of things after all. Hell she had been shot and caught up in an explosion and shrapnel was the only thing that ended up doing any real damage to her. She still had that large scar along her ribs and leading onto her back a little. She wore all of her scars proudly and even if some of them had been things that she wished had not happened; they were still a part of her.

Just as the shadows were a part of her, her whole form moving together perfectly and much like that of an actual large wolf. Due to her ability, she was good at being offensive and defensive. He whole being was both her shield and her weapon, ready to be bent to her will to a certain point. Still, she held back wanting to test just what Demi was capable of so far and could see that the girl at least had a fast reaction time. Devyn kept that in her mind as she landed and quickly turned to leap at the girl again.

The shadow smoke spelled out repeatedly around Devyn as she moved after Demi. It just sort of happened because of how cool Devyn thought it was as Demi moved along the ground as if it were water and her feet were her board. She felt something hit her, but it didn't bother her at, didn't stop her from leaping to try and land on Demi, this time with a bit of a twist, that she would use her two tails to try and hit Demi when the other girl would likely dodge her. This was going to be fun.

Dark, how did earth beat dark? Demi tried to remember the lessons as she kept moving. Moving always felt strange to most terrakinetics, which was part of why Demi did it so much. Everyone always expected her to stand still and hold her ground, as if she were an immobile boulder or the very earth on her feet. They seemed to forget that earth was also dirt and sand and grit.

Demi didn't.

She watched the wolf jump and anticipated the move. Demi didn't quite anticipate the tails moving though, but she could block: her hands flew up to protect her body and she went tumbling. The earth helped get her back onto her feet, Demi rolling almost effortlessly, then she flung her hands, shooting a pair of dirt clods, aiming for the main body of the wolf: the easiest target.

Light was the way to beat the dark, and since Demi did not have that power it looked like this little fight was going to be an interesting one. Likely to end in a draw if one of them did not just give up at some point. Devyn was not concerned with that at the moment, she was actually having fun being in her other form and getting to 'stretch out her shadows', so to speak. Plus it was nice to go up against someone without the worry of getting into any trouble or seriously hurting them.

Demi quickly proved that she could handle herself and it was interesting to see how she was moving around. Devyn had expected her to just cover herself in dirt like some kind of mini dirt titan, but instead it was more like she was dancing across the ground, with a dark being as her dancing partner. Good thing they were out in the woods so the likely hood of anyone stumbling across such a scene was limited. The wildlife were certainly getting a show or were terrified or both.

As expected, Demi dodge her first leap attack, but was caught off guard by Devyn's tail. Devyn was pleased that the girl quickly recovered and that just made her want to just go forward and not hold back at all. AS she moved forward she temporarily stopped as the dirt clods collided with her, she felt it but it was still not enough to put a stop to her. Her shadows did ripple a little where the dirt clods hit, compensating for the force. Devyn surged forward again, this time planning on going for a full force body tackle, the real goal in mind was to just get close to Demi and stay as close to her as possible.

The wolf kept moving, but Demi had pretty well expected that. She knew she could probably dodge around and simply wait out till Devyn lost her shadows and became herself again. And again, there were the traps. But neither of those options were fun and they didn't have the pure satisfaction of pummeling the crap out of someone.

"Ha, keep going like that, and this'll be quick!" she taunted as her shots hit Demi. Devyn surged forward, and Demi could see the incoming wolf. Part of her desperately wanted to just fling herself full bore at the wolf. Pull up enough dirt and debris to just slam into her. Just feeling the jarring impact would be super awesome.

However, Demi knew that wouldn't quite be Flow. No, she could see the pattern there. so she moved, seeming to surge forward to match Devyn and that earlier plan. As soon as she got within range though, Demi slid down, as if she were a baseball player going for a base. Her hands pulled, shooting dirt up and going as she did. Her feet dug a little ravine, cutting into the ground and letting Demi move. She should slide under Devyn and hit the wolf with a fair blast of dirt, rocks, and forest debris. That was the plan, anyway.

Devyn would have chuckled if she had been able to in this form at Demi's words about this being over quick. She hoped the younger girl was not underestimating her and thinking that moving around a lot was going to be Devyn's downfall. The more she stayed in the form, the more animalist she got, moving around was not going to tire her out any time soon. She worked out in her other form so had a lot of endurance and while in this form everything for her actual body basically slowed down and kind of cut off.

The shadow beast became more of who she was; as if it was an actual living being that had just taken over Devyn and kept her locked away in the darkness. Granted being hit by the dirt did not feel good and it was likely the larger and the harder the pieces would hit would start to cause a problem. If Demi ended up making them sharp then they would likely be able to break through the shadows and get access to Devyn. With how the younger girl had things going now she was likely just making Devyn had to reshape her form, which in a way could end up being what wore her out instead of just moving around.

Demi's next move was one that Devyn expected to end up happening eventually, because going for the underbelly was always a smart idea. Yet, you ran the risk of being stepped on, which was what Devyn planned on doing. It was all very odd to have the younger girl moving so fast and slipping underneath her. It was also jarring to feel the pain on her underside and she was pretty sure that her form ended up being pushed against her actual body which made her feel the dull pain twice. AS a result Devyn reared up a little.

She balanced on her back legs for a moment, before jumping backwards on her hind legs and slamming her front paws down. The plan being to try and either shove Demi down into the dirt that she loved or at least get a hold of her. Yet it was all very possible that all Dev would end up doing would be kicking up more dirt or ripping the younger girl’s makeshift clothing.

"Ha!" Demi barked as Devyn reared up. She'd definitely scored a hit there, a good one too, from the looks of things. The shadow-wolf was already moving and clearly wanted to land on Demi. The girl had been planning on just sliding out from under, but Devyn had shifted around and made that too hard to do. Demi could see what was coming though.

And she knew that it was time to take advantage of the fact that she was tiny and could move earth. She literally threw her arms back and pushed herself back into the earth. Her body made a slight impression, so that when the arms finally did land, they'd be scraping just the top of her, which was mostly covered by dirt and other bits that Demi had gathered as a sort of natural armor.

It also meant that Demi would be launching up another spray of mixed materials, most of the junk from that bit of forest she'd delved into spraying up and into Devyn's underbelly and face again. Demi gritted her teeth and grinned all the while, loving it even as she felt the pain of the shadows hitting the parts of her not covered.

Devyn didn't get why Demi was having a sort of victory shout or whatever that shout was for. She didn't feel like the little spar was anywhere near done and again being hit by dirt was not all that bad. Sure it didn't feel too good, but Devyn had her basic shadow armor on and it didn't feel like it was doing any significant damage to her. She likely would have a few bruises where Demi had put enough power behind the earth that she was moving, but she currently felt fine.

She is a quick thinker, I'll give her that. Devyn thought to herself as she could already feel dirt pushing against her underside when she went to step down on the girl. Clearly trying to get a hold of the girl with her paws was not going to work since Demi seemed to just sink further into the ground. It kicked up more dirt, hitting Devyn's underside and a little under her face, but she handle it and made sure to not back off this time. She was going to have to deal with a bit of pain and discomfort is she planned to get anywhere decent with the younger girl.

At least her hit sort of landed, mainly just scratching up the younger girl who also handled it in strides as she seemed to be pulling more dirt onto herself. Devyn of course noticed how Demi reacted to the pain, but she was already focused on her next attack, not letting up just as Demi was retaliating back. Her head was already moving to reach for Demi, jaws opening and trying to grab a hold of the girl's body that way in an attempt to grab a hold of her and pull her out of the ground. Very much in a manner like one would try and yank a weed out of the ground, to dispose of it.
