The fight was a noisy one. Noisy enough to draw a decent crowd of people. Now, strictly speaking, fighting wasn't allowed in Bellefonte, at least, not outside of the Arena. In fact, they had the arena to prevent fights among their students and faculty from actually occurring. Bad enough to contain people in a small area where they constantly saw each other day in and day out, but mix in mutant powers, and you had a powder keg waiting to go off. This particular battle was just one of several.
It did occur in a fountain, which was at least something different.
Guy hurried through the crowd, having seen the splashes and heard reports from various students. He muttered under his breath, mostly a few choice words directed toward unruly mutants in general. If he were a bit taller, perhaps he would be able to see whomever was combating in the fountain. He suspected some form of hydrokinesis, what with the water being right there, but really, that could just be an unlikely coincidence. People, especially unruly teenagers, were as likely to pick a fight at a fountain as anywhere else. Guy pushed aside various students as he hurried to get close enough. Already he attempted to extend his focus, hoping to stop whomever was fighting from using their powers. That wouldn't stop a fist fight.
"Alright, that's enough!" yelled Guy, waving his hands. "Part the crowd for me, teacher person coming through, wielding massive amounts of authority." Guy waved his hands, hoping to part the crowd.

The fight certainly was an impressive example of almost organised chaos. The fight had begun, the fountain it's hub, and the surrounding crowd of onlookers creating a barrier which although seemed to be keeping it contained, also created a greater chance of student injury to the two battling it out and those in the immeadte area to them. Although, depending on what exact abilty graced them, everyone in the crowd could be easily in the firing line if it got even further out of hand. Now fights were situations Guylian was more then familier with, having dealt with a number in his time in the force; although granted those were far less dangerous. Far less mutents involved... Although this didn't stop the ex cop from following the flow of students to the source of the unruly behaviour. While he normally chose to avoid most other interactions with the students, fights were a different matter. Students were at risk here, and it was a type of situation he'd dealt with previously. He knew how to deal with it. "HEY! HEY! That's enough!" He called out, weaving his way through students until he reached the front of the fight's heart, the fountain. As usual in situations such as this, he momentarily considered the application of his ability in order to quell the fight... It however seemed cop able without it; Only in situations where he deemed it necessary did he choose to use it, and this certainly didn't feel as though it was severe enough to warrant it's use. With the pair fighting seemingly not caring that he'd made his presence known, Guylian stepped up onto the stone edge of the fountain, not really wanting to venture into the water itself but was willing to accept that might be a possibility. "Didn't you hear what I just said?! I highly suggest you get OUT of the fountain before I see to it you both get detention!"

Guy heard another voice yelling and had to sigh with relief. He believed he could have handled the situation on his own; he did wield authority well and his power made the students think twice, but he certainly preferred having someone else nearby. As Guy drew closer, he could see who. He couldn't quite immediately identify the other man though; he vaguely recognized him as being one of the newer faculty members. Rather bold to just wade in like that then. There was an aura of confidence there that Guy had seen before, usually in those used to dealing with situations much tenser than rampaging teenagers.
Though as Guy drew close, seeing that yes, the student in the fountain was, in fact, a hydrokinetic, and a relatively pissed off male one at that. Another male stood some distance away, holding what looked like stones in each hand. Superstrength versus hydrokinesis, oh boy, were they getting it from both ends.
The fountain guy yelled at Guylian, raging about how the other guy deserved it. Guy heard, but he wasn't paying much attention. His fellow faculty member was there already, which meant that Guy could focus on the other. He tightened his focus around the strongman, and immediately the poor kid found himself lurching downward.
"That's a good idea," said Guy, speaking calmly and levelly. "Just set down the hunk of stone, and we'll see if we can figure this out, shall we?" Though they were getting at least detention; they both knew that. Guy just had to hope that the hydrokinetic didn't get some bright idea and try to attack the strongman while his strength was drained. Guy was counting on the other faculty member there, and perhaps on the student himself.

Close enough now to judge the situation more accurately, the excop began to quickly take in the exact details of the tense situation. Two students. Both with offensive abilities. Both a great risk to themselves and others, especially given their relatively pissed off state. Perhaps he needed to reevaluate... He kept a strong stance, keeping himself balanced, his gaze focused on the student who'd yelled in response to him. "I don't care frankly who started what and who did what to who!" He spoke in stern reply. "You will stop acting like violent thugs and talk this through like adults." His focus was then momentarily broken by the acknowledgement of the presence of another authority member, his gaze snapping to his fellow staff member. He didn't suppose he'd spoken to him before, or if he had the conversation would have been fleeting. He seemed to be handling the strongman relatively well, and the ex cop gave a nod of appreciation in his direction. However, the weakened strongman was now a clear target for his adversary, who was now darting his eyeline towards the rock wielding student with renewed vigour. Guylian furrowed his brow, sensing the situation potentially spiralling out of control; if this student attacked the other when he was weakened, it could spark out an all out brawl between both of their factions of friends... And that was the last thing they needed. And so Guylian's quick reevaluation of the situation came to the conclusion that this was a case where he was going to need to quell it immediately... His ability was going to have to be called upon. He kept his focus on the fountain guy, preparing himself for what he was about to do; and when he spoke next, his voice was gentle, velveteen, as though each word he spoke was oozing liquid velvet from his lips. "This fight is not worth your time. Relax. Breathe slowly... And calm down. You want to be calm. You want to relax." He held both of his hands up defensively, fighting not to grimace as he stepped into the fountain, slowly approaching the student. "There's no point now. The fight is over. This isn't worth longer detention."

The strongman grunted and worked at the rock. Guy just gave him an exasperated look. "Really? You're not going to pick that up. Your power is suppressed; that's what I--hey!" this last came out as the strongman just picked up a smaller rock and hurled it at Guy's head. The trainer at least had the good sense to raise an arm up, though the throw wasn't very well done or well aimed. It sort of stopped a foot or so away from Guy. Which just meant that the trainer was raising his brows. He pointed at the young man. "Detention, and counseling sessions with Miss Laurent,' though sometimes Guy wondered if that latter was much of a punishment: he'd seen Miss Laurent, and at their age, he'd be in for counseling at least once a week, likely after his weekly checkups with the school physician.
"I think this one's---" began Guy, turning. The other teacher was in the fountain. Guy paused, blinked, stared at him, not quite believing it. He opened his mouth to ask if the man was really in the fountain for some kind of reason, then realized he could just hear the other man saying something. Guy's brow furrowed. Was that... the power? The boy seemed to be listening. Guy glanced back at his own troublemaker, the strongman, who seemed to be mostly cooled down, though still sending Guy evil looks.
It could all break soon enough though, so Guy walked over to the strongman. "Let's try walking to the detention room, hmm?" he said, gesturing, "and you're a big boy, so I'm betting you can do it all by yourself while I finish up here, yes?" The strongman nodded, kicking surlily at the rock before shoving his hands into his pockets and sulking away.

The sole focus on the subject was important for Guylian's ability to take full effect, although trying to ignore the amount of other noise and movement was relatively difficult. He continued to slowly approach the fountain based student, who had now snapped his eyeline towards him when he'd began to speak. The water at the student's feet was churning slightly, no doubt stimulated by the kid's anger. At least Guylian had his attention now... And he could already feel his words taking effect as the student's body language became gradually more relaxed. Out of the corner of his eye the ex cop noted the rock thrown at his fellow member of staff, momentarily breaking his concentration as he glanced towards him to check if he was unharmed; his break caused the fountain student he was dealing with to flare up again, the water churning at a far greater rate, clearly about to make some sort of strike at either him or the rock wielder. At once the teacher regained his concentration, focusing solely on the student, trying to keep his balance in the steadily churning water. "Calm down. This isn't worth it... Just calm yourself. You know this isn't the best time nor place for this..." He continued to speak, words seeping from his mouth like liquid syrup; alluring, pervasive, calming. The student momentarily seemed to know be quite sure what to do, his body language once again relaxing, before finally giving in and letting his arms drop to his sides in a defeated manner. His eyebrows furrowed, Guylian was now close enough to place an authoritative hand on the boy's shoulder, the velveteen softness to his voice how missing when he spoke next. "Best you follow your partner in crime and head to the detention office," He spoke sternly. "And I'm sure I don't need to tell you what awaits you should you attempt to start another fight once you're there." Although the teacher highly doubted he would; His words had throughly taken effect. Pushing the boy gently towards the fountain's edge ot indicate for him to vacate the premises, the teacher took his centrepoint position in the middle of the crowd to speak out to the rest of the gathering. "Show's over! And if anyone else even attempts to continue this little aggravation, I shall see to it that at least a week's detention befalls you. Got it?"

Guy actually felt a little calmer himself, though he supposed that could just be because two students were no longer attempting to kill one another. It could also very well be the lanky teacher's voice. Now that Guy could get a better look at the man, he had to admit that the man looked familiar. Sure, Guy had seen most of the staff before now, and they'd had to make sure to be able to identify one another by sight, what with the new security issues and so forth.
what mattered most was that the hydro kid and the strongman were now slouching toward detention. Guy kept an eye on them, leaving the general announcement to his more persuasive comrade. The threat would work wonders, though most of them were leaving because, well, the show really was over. Guy called out to one student, someone he knew possessed terrakinesis, and had the young girl work at restoring the various stones and fountains.
Guy then turned to Guylian, nodding. "Good work there," he said, extending a hand toward the other. "I'm Guy Legrange, by the by. Not sure if we've had one of those official introductions, though I recognize you. Well, I recognize you enough to know that you're not an agent sent here to torment us, and if you are, you're excellent at undercover work, what with the persuasive talk and all."

The crowd's slow dispersal was enough for Guylian to take his attention off the situation and to focus on the issues now facing him. His shoes and the bottom of his trousers were soaked through, the uncomfortable nature of it causing the ex cop to grimace slightly. Wonderful. He waded to the fountain's edge, standing on the stone outer wall and stepping back down onto dry land, casting a stern look towards a few remaining students who seemed in a hurry to make their leave once they caught his gaze; as they wandered away, Guylian brought his attentions now to the other member of staff present. He knew of him, and certainly recognised him. Despite his general apprehension towards social interaction, he still remained steadfast on recognising each and every staff member; the man offered him an introduction and a handshake, which the ex cop took with respectful politeness; he however quirked a brow slightly at the fellow staff member's name. Guy. "No problem, it was relatively simple enough," He replied. "I'm Guylian Dove. Teacher." He cast the man a smile, before putting his hands in his jacket pockets. He used to take the liberty of explaining his name when he introduced himself to avoid the few odd looks or comments he occasionally received because of it, but recently had decided to simply leave it and address it if questioned. He shrugged a little when his ability was mentioned, but kept up his polite smile. It was a topic he didn't discuss often. "It normally can take a lot more then that to manipulate someone depending on the situation, but just getting someone to simply calm themselves is relatively easy."

"Guylian? Well, that's just too close to mine; you're obviously going to have to change it," said Guy, waving a hand. "But I suppose Dove will work; I don't think there's a 'D' in my entire name, so that will be good."
He did fall silent and listen as Dove explained his ability, more or less. Guy found himself nodding: it sounded like the whole persuasion type ability; he'd met a few students with that gift before, trained a few. Made for an excellent teacher, that much was certain, though people didn't always take a path that worked brilliantly for their gift. Guy was more of an exception to that rather than the rule.
"Well, however you managed it: it worked," he said, adding another decisive nod. "So we can count this one in the win column," he sighed and looked around for a bit. The students were more or less gone; things were settled. Yes, it definitely looked like a win. Guy looked back at Dove, who was certainly a little worse for wear, though not in any way that couldn't be solved easily enough. Guy nodded.
"I know you'll want to get cleaned up, but we should probably go make sure they followed through, do a quick followup report and all," he said, jerking his thumb over his shoulder in the direction they'd sent the students. "Unless you happen to have a spare pair of trousers between here and there," Guy paused, "that was half serious, by the way; you'd be surprised how many of us have clothes stashed here and there on campus. You never know when you'll need them."

Well, he didn't mention his namesake, so Guylian was more then happy to accept the man's decision to refer to him by his last name... Considering it a moment with a quirked brow, the ex cop did see the fellow staff member's point; their names were similar enough to cause confusion. He smiled a little, before nodding, his gaze averting to the direction the two students had slumped off in. He didn't intend to go any further into his ability or mention anything further about himself, or indeed hadn't expected the conversation to last much beyond an introduction and pleasantries. Guylian had suspected his reclusive nature had already circulated among the staff, although this encounter told him otherwise... And strangely, he found himself glad of that fact. Although he generally avoided interaction, having someone of a similar mindset to himself... At least a man who cared for the school and seemed to have respect for the laws it ran by... Was welcome.
He looked back to Guy as his clothing condition was pointed out, a slight grimace gracing his features as he slightly raised a foot, water dripping from his soaked trouser leg and shoe. "... I'll be fine. A little water never hurt anyone," He spoke, putting his foot back down. "Although that seems to not quite exactly true at Bellefonte... Might as well just go and get these reports done and over with." The ex cop then looked back to the other male, blinking at him a moment before smiling. "You know, I wouldn't put it past being highly necessary in the long run, but alas I didn't plan ahead to end up in the school's fountain," He replied, before giving a slight nodding the direction towards the same direction of the detention office. "Shall we?"

"It's not your health I'm as worried about as your presentation," admitted Guy. He didn't suspect that a grown man would be too fragile to deal with being wet for a little while. However, he could see the point in hurrying too; Dove's being soaked might very well make for an even better presentation. The various officials could see that yes, a teacher really had to enter the fountain and deal with things. Dove certainly seemed eager enough to go with Guy, and that was enough.
Guy started moving as Dove offered, figuring that the other teacher would follow easily enough. "You might consider leaving at least one set of clothes somewhere, just in case something like this happens again. I have a pair stashed in the gym myself, since that makes sense," offered Guy. He then decided to start walking a little slower, even sticking his hands in his pockets. He looked up at Dove, offering a quick explanation: "Fun to let them suffer. If you want to hurry so you can get dry though, I'm willing. Just don't go running," Guy pointed down at his legs, "short legs and all."
Didn't stop Guy from keeping pace with Dove as long as they kept walking though, and the head trainer was determined to at least keep moving, if at a relatively slow pace. "Like I said: I don't recall out really getting to know one another. Is there anything in particular I should know about you? You're not a serial killer or some kind of secret government agent, are you? Because that would be quite unfortunate."

Presentation wasn't exactly at the forefront of Guylian's mind; Although he generally took care in his appearance, he was more then used to getting dirty, tearing his clothes and various other methods of appearing dishevelled from his work in the police force. You quickly learned not to care when you had to chase some thug or other down a desolate, flithy alley. But at the same time he could see the man's point... It didn't look too good for a teacher to be parading around the school dripping fountain water. He allowed Guy to take the lead, taking care to keep pace with him. he slipped his hands into his jacket pockets, his smile retaining as the other member of staff went on about his stashed clothing changes. "Can't say I've much seen the point before now, since I'm no trainer," Guylian replied with a slight chuckle, "You generally don't have to break up too many fights in an English classroom." He then took a quick moment to muse on that fact. He'd opted for the teaching position since he held a degree in the subject he'd chosen to teach, and it suited his natural reclusive nature; no need to bond with students on a more personal level as a trainer, despite the fact his police training likely made him an ideal trainer candidate. He looked ahead to where they were heading, his smile fading slightly. It was only recently he was slightly doubting his choice... Perhaps a trainer would have been a far more beneficial choice in the long run. As his companion spoke again, Guylian averted his gaze back to the man, casting him another small smile and a shake of the head. "I second that. I don't think we'll have to worry about them fighting again so soon anyway," He replied. "I managed to get the water manipulator into quite a relaxed state, so we should be fine for a little while if the other attempts to spark it up again." The ex cop's smile faltered slightly as the trainer now casually questioned him, something which Guylian normally chose to avoid answering. But he found himself relatively enjoying his man's company, or at the very least he didn't see any reason to deny him the answers; If he delved too deeply or Guylian decided he no longer wanted to continue the conversation's topic, he could simply change the subject.
He found himself chuckling again as he was jokingly accused of being various unsavoury characters. This man had a good sense of humour on him... Although by his choice of words it did imply Guylian's reclusive nature might perhaps have been mentioned in casual passing between staff, or was maybe just Guy's own assumptions of the ex cop, since they had barely spoken if at all before now. "Nothing quite that dramatic," He replied casually. "... I used to be in the police force. I gave it up to come here and become a teacher." He mused on telling the man more details, but choose against it for now. "

"Clearly you're doing it wrong," replied Guy, chuckling. "English is filled with fights and such. All those bloody plays and the like. If I were an English teacher, I'd have my students fighting it out every week. Capulets versus Montagues and the like," Guy gestured, his tone conveying just how much he was joking. He could tell that Guylian was nervous, probably not used to people asking him questions and the like. Guy was tempted to suggest that the other didn't have to really share anything, that it was just some friendly conversation to have while they walked from here to there. The jokes seemed to indicate that Guy wasn't attempting an interrogation though, and Dove reluctantly admitted some information, which had Guy nodding.
"I can see why you'd want to keep that to yourself. Though that does explain why you were so cool in the face of conflict, not to mention able to read the students," he'd of course caught Dove's estimation of the two combatants and agreed, his eyes flicking only for a moment on the path they'd sent them. "Considering that the Kalispell PD is filled with incompetence, I can see not wanting to associate. Or it could just be that you're not used to people prying," Guy shrugged, trying to further communicate how it really didn't bother him one way or the other. "Bit of an odd career move. Usually people go the other way. Too many students driving you to want to just clean up the streets more proactively."
Guy walked a few more steps. "We can change the subject if you want. I just don't want to stew in silence all the way to the office. So it's either talking or I get out my phone and try to beat my high score at Angry Birds." Guy patted his pocket, confirming where the phone was and his own eagerness to use it. "But feel free to talk about whatever. Not the weather though; I don't know who thought talking about that is a good idea. It's inane and pointless. The sky is clear; it's Spring. There, done," Guy gestured, obviously cutting that conversation off, but not conversation in general, of course.

The teacher was quiet as the man spoke, smiling at some of the comments he made, chuckling a little on occasion; He'd so far not been on the staff rosta for long enough to begin the process of being involved in a school play, and even then his first inclination would be to avoid that kind of situation. He was a natural teacher as far as working out work plans and actually teaching a class, but anything that extended beyond the basic student to teacher bond he didn't usuaally feel inclined to proceed with. This emotional reclusion he knew wasn't healthy human behavior, and with the world's current climate, being antisocial wasn't going to work well in terms of self presivation. Being reclusive was a natural habit he'd learned from an early age, and it had treated him just fine until recently... How could he expect others to treat him as a friend, to feel emotional connections with others if he wasn't willing to open himself up a little more? He'd mused on these thoughts before, but now engaging in this casual conversation brought them again to thr forefront of his mind... He supposed it was due to Guy's light hearted and easy going personality.
The ex cop glanced towards the man when he offered that they change the subject, his brow furrowing as the smile that had adorned his lips faded, before shifting his gaze towards the ground thoughtfully. "... I chose not to join the Kalispell PD since I was worried the reason I left my own branch would follow me here," He spoke up, giving a casual shrug to try and indicate that this information was quite easily for him to discuss... It was rather unfamiliar ground for him. "I used my... Powers of suggestion in an incident that was rather public. Near enough my enture branch saw me do it... And it resulted in the rumours that my interrogation techniques were being called into question." He trailed off a moment, before giving Guy a small smile and another shrug. "So I came here... If I'd stayed, I risked the convictions I'd gotten being overturned." Now that he thought on it, part of him wished be had taken the risk and joined the Kalispell PD... Being in the force was something he truly loved, and despite the fact he did find teaching to a point enjoyable, it didn't have his heart.

Guy had certainly intended to switch the subject. he'd lived long enough to know that there were some things that people simply didn't wish to discuss, and prodding at those things rarely accomplished anything. Dove kept speaking anyway, answering the questions laying just below the surface of Guy's words. The smaller man fell into silence, letting Dove get everything off his chest. He remained quiet for several more paces, as they drew ever nearer to the offices.
"Sometimes we do things that we later end up---no," said Guy, shaking his head, "that's trite. You know you screwed up; you don't need or want platitudes for me. It's admirable that you're willing to go on with your life anyway, not to mention taking blame for it. I'm fairly certain that most of our police force uses their abilities quite frequently, well, the ones that possess them. Maybe some day we'll be able to do such things without worrying."
Guy shrugged. He did realize the severity of what Guylian had done. his power could've gotten a confession that wouldn't work in court. That simply wasn't a matter of using powers; it was abusing them, plain and simple. It also wasn't legal and would've likely damaged the whole process.
All of which Guy was certain that Guylian had either been told before or figured out for himself. Rubbing salt in wounds had never been a specialty of Guy's, and he wasn't about to start now.
"you picked an excellent place to turn to,' said Guy, nodding. "we're positively bursting with understanding, not to mention people with all kinds of abilities and the like. Oh, and there's more attractive females that you can shake your prick at, assuming you're interested. If you're not, well, there are plenty of attractive males that will be most willing."
