NAME: Honey Kim
NICKNAME: Honeybee
AGE: 15
GENDER: Nonbinary
ORIENTATION: Asexual Panromantic
POSITION: High School Student
FACE CLAIM: Choi Minki
POWER:
Molecular Manipulation
Honey has very little control over hir power, and so it manifests as an involuntary reaction to strong desire. When ze or someone around hir wants something very badly, the power is triggered, and a nearby object's structure is altered at the molecular level - for example, a rubber ball could become a small eraser, or a pencil could take on the shape of a crochet hook.
Limitations
As of now, only small objects (roughly the same mass as a deck of cards or smaller) can be altered. Additionally, Honey cannot control when the power is triggered. If the desire for the object is not strong enough, or the power has been used too recently, it won't work no matter what Honey tries. Hir power could hypothetically go off four or five times in a day, but it would leave hir exhausted and aching for at least a week, so ze tends to withdraw, making sure to stay away from ambitious people and hold few desires hirself.
Side-Effects
- General anxiety, as Honey can't know when hir power will go off or what will be altered.
- Physical fatigue and a headache set in immediately after the power is triggered and lasts for several hours
- A weakened immune system caused by the semi-frequent physical fatigue.
- Social isolation caused by the fear of being near ambitious people and having the power go off.
APPEARANCE SECTION: Honey is 5'3" and weighs a measly 125 pounds. Ze has short blonde hair (from hir father) and dark brown eyes (from hir mother). Temporary tattoos and marker drawings frequently dot hir arms, as ze uses them as a positive coping mechanism. A faint scar runs diagonally from Honey's right shoulderblade to hir left hip, and fainter freckles can be seen on hir face if you really look for them.
Due to the anxiety and unhappiness caused by hir power, Honey tends to carry hirself with little to no confidence, always slightly slumped over and withdrawn. Hir arms are pulled in close, stride short, eyes always focused on the ground rather than the space in front of hir (which will often lead to bumps and bruises).
MUST HAVE APPAREL: Generally, Honey sticks to comfortable clothing. Hooded print sweatshirts are a daily sight, along with sweatpants, shorts, and band t-shirts. Makeup is a coping mechanism for Honey, and ze spends at least twenty minutes every morning putting on concealer, lipstick, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara. Honey is a fan of Decora fashion, but isn't confident enough to try it.
PERSONALITY SECTION: Generally, Honey is withdrawn. Not really rude, but not really friendly, either. Ze probably wouldn't help a student who was being bullied or stand up for anyone ze didn't know, simply because ze's incredibly anti-confrontational. Even so, Honey keeps a mental tally of who the bullies and the bullied are, and keeps a list of people to tell off is ze ever works up the nerve.
Stickers, markers, makeup, and sweets are a few of Honey's favorite things. Ze generally distrusts adult men due to bad past experiences. Drawing and singing are strong points for hir, as well as science, while English class and athletics are weak points. Honey is afraid of people who raise their voices or talk loudly, and has a fear of body horror.
EXTRA QUIRK: Honey always, always buys something from the coin machines at the grocery store, and ze has had a secret love affair with Hot Topic since ze was twelve.
FATHER: Christian Reed is the widower of Haneul Kim, who died of heart failure.
MOTHER: Haneul Kim died when Honey was seven.
SIBLINGS: Deceased younger brother.
PET: A Russian dwarf hamster named Happy.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
WORTHY MENTIONS: None
CHILDHOOD: Honey's name was a joint effort by hir parents: Haneul wanted to give her a "sweet name", while Christian wanted something Americanized. They eventually worked it down to a list of three names: Clementine, Rose, and Honey. "Honey" was at the bottom of the list until the child was actually born - with fuzzy blonde newborn hair. Haneul decided on "Honey" as soon as she saw it, and Christian, considering it a win, didn't object.
Officially, Haneul Kim died of heart failure. As far as Honey is concerned, she was abused to death. Christian Reed had never been a good man, but when his wife admitted to having mutant ancestry shortly after their second child was born, he proved he could be even worse. Honey's little brother died of a mysterious infection at two years old, and hir mother suffered heart failure a year later.
Honey was always a little bit withdrawn in school, but ze was happy enough and made friends. With so few memories of hir deceased relatives, and with Christian doing all that he could to hide any evidence that they had lived there, all Honey had was the vague understanding that ze wasn't entirely normal.
ADOLESCENCE: Teenage rebellion was a natural part of growing up. Christian took it poorly, so Honey kept it to hirself. Ze blew hir allowance at the local mall, bought newer and edgier clothes, and even had a discreet fling with a girl from hir school's GSA. All of this was swept under the rug before hir father could comment on it, or worse. As far as school went, Honey was by and large an average student.
It was late August when it started - just a week after hir birthday. Strange things would happen, leaving hir exhausted and aching. Objects would appear out of nowhere. An eraser here, a piece of candy there. Honey questioned hir sanity for several days before she was finally brought to Bellefonte (just a few hours' drive away). Her father had no complaints for hir leaving; for his own child to be a mutant was one of Christian's worst fears, and having it realized, he essentially disowned hir.
Honey only arrived in Bellefonte last night, and has yet to get used to the idea of herself as a mutant, or the idea of being surrounded by them. In her teenage rebellion she did take a shine to these people her father condemned, but to be in a school just for them - and to be one of them hirself - was akin to a fairytale dream. Only time will tell if ze gets used to it.

SAMPLE: It hadn’t happened quickly. The press conferences, the debates, the long nights that led up to his second- ever Existence Evaluation, they all passed in a dredging, solemn blur. The Control Brains couldn’t kill him or send him to Foodcourtia. That would’ve been too much for even his harshest critics. So they did something even worse.
They exiled him to Earth.
He had sat out the ride in a tiny, control-locked shuttle and prayed to deities he didn’t believe in that he wouldn’t crash near Zim. Even the ocean would be better than that. His prayers were answered, it seemed, as his little shuttle plowed through a forest on the other side of the continent. The door unlocked as the ship came to a rough stop. Purple crawled out, rather nauseous from the landing. With nowhere else to go, he picked a direction and started hovering.
