POWER INFO:
Matthew has the ability to heal a person’s (human and mutant) injury (including his own) by taking energy from another person (including himself). Depending on the injury, the person the energy is taken from might die. The power gets activated by touching and will-power and the healing-progress can be stopped at any time, except Matthew himself is hurt, then the power gets activated solely by touch and continues until he’s completely healed.
LIMITATIONS/SIDEEFFECTS:
- the person he takes the energy from (including himself) suffers energy loss (energy loss: headache, dizziness/vertigo, slow heart rate (-> up to cardiac arrest), might fall unconscious). How long the symptoms will stay depends on the injury and the condition the person giving the energy is in before the healing starts
- The use may result in headache, vertigo and loss of conscious for Matthew, if he overuses this power (i.e. he healed to many people in a short time or the injury is too fatal), even if he isn't the one giving the energy
- the power is unable to heal sicknesses/energy loss
GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Due to Matthew’s blonde, short but messy hair, his bright blue eyes and distinctive face-features he tends to stand out way more than he likes and prefers to turn up his coat-collars and let his hair fall in his face in order to hide himself from attention. His expression is usually hard to read and rather serious, while his eyes always seem to be filled with a tiny bit of sadness.
Matthew is about 5''9' tall and well built, which doesn’t really help him trying to blend in either, but doesn’t stop him from dressing pretty elegant for a student his age anyway. He likes to look well dressed; however he prefers simple colours like white, grey or black and would never even touch bright, flashy clothes.

PERSONALITY: Matthew is a rather quiet person, always trying to blend in and to not draw any attention towards himself. If he gets noticed or spoken to he reacts coldly and distant, but still polite and helpful.
Even though Matt is very hard to befriend, once he is a friend, he’s a true and loyal one, who would do anything for his friends. He is very honest and understanding towards his friends and likes to have deep conversations about serious topics, but can also be a pretty humorous and witty person when he’s in a good mood.
However due to his brother’s death he hates being touched and has depressive moments from time to time, although he tries to get out of them as soon as he can since he knows his brother wouldn’t want him to fall into the hole of depression.
EXTRA QUIRK: Writes seemingly random words on all kinds of surfaces when thinking and keeps his hands in his pockets as much as he can.

CHILDHOOD: Matthew had a pretty happy and uneventful Childhood, living with his family, going to school and having friends. He was really close with his twin brother and his younger sister.
ADOLESCENCE: Soon after Matthew turned seventeen his power started manifesting, which he enjoyed at first as he was a paramedic at his school and used his power to heal smaller injuries by using his own energy. However he never told any of his friends and hid his power by saying he just got a good education, as his friends were anti-mutant.
Anyway this attitude towards his power changed as he and his brother were attacked by an anti-mutant teacher, who found out about Matthew’s power, on their way home from school in the late evening. Matthew got heavily injured and the teacher, thinking he had killed him, fled. Luke wasn’t as bad injured as Matthew and tried to help him up so they could look for help since they hadn’t got a phone with them, but Matthew’s power activated itself automatically and Luke died from this loss of energy. Matthew brought Luke back home, but it was too late and Luke was already gone. Even though Matthew’s family didn’t blame him for what happened as he had been barely conscious at that moment and hadn’t been able to stop it from happening, Matthew was afraid he could cause harm to his parents and his sister as well and came to Bellefonte Academy by himself.
