RJ leaned back, grinning as he surveyed the pool beneath him. Yes, this had definitely been one of his better ideas. Show up at the pool wearing red shorts and sporting a pair of sunglasses, then climb on up into the lifeguard chair and act like you were supposed to be there. Totally brilliant: chicks loved lifeguards. Even if none of them approached, he's blow a few hours staring at half-naked chicks.
"Yeah, you're definitely awesome at this," he said to himself, actually reading to pat himself on the back. Still grinning, he folded his hands behind his head and surveyed his new domain. There were a few girls already, and he found himself staring at one in particular. The sunglasses should block most of it, and even if they said anything, he'd just claim to be looking out for them.
RJ even grinned. Yeah, definitely an awesome setup. How had he not thought of doing this before now?
Serene walked to the pool, a book in hand. She hoped maybe to read a bit then swim a bit then read a bit then swim a bit and so on. Plus she was really bored. As she walked over to one of the pool chairs she looked up and saw a lifeguard which was actually kind of hot. Then she saw who it was. It was that boy from the club. Trying to ignore him she plopped herself down and hoped he hadn't seen her through his sunglasses.
As she read she though: How could he be a lifeguard? He doesn't seem like one. then she thought maybe she could go swimming so she could hide underwater.
Weird, but RJ thought he totally recognized the blonde that came in. She didn't look all that hot or anything, more that kind of shy cute that was sometimes really awesome to make out with and be their bad boy for a while (heck, most of them were willing to go all the way, just to experience what it was like. RJ was definitely willing). Apparently she recognized him though, seeing as she looked away and seemed to be really intense in not getting found.
Well, now he had a conundrum. The cute blonde was just begging to be flirted with, but he didn't really want to leave his perch. He might not be able to climb back up or, worse yet, he might lose credibility as a lifeguard. The plan had been to scope out the entire area though.
Ah, RJ knew what to do: clearly she'd be swimming at some point. he'd just blow his whistle and say that she broke some kind of rule or something. Then she'd have to come up and see him. Grinning, RJ settled in, once more pretending to scan the area but actually keeping more tabs on the cute blonde.
Serene was glad he either hadn't seen her or had forgotten her from that night at the club. It was just so embarrassing for her, mainly because it had been her first dance and she wasn't really the one dancing. As she finished a chapter in her book she decided that it was time to go swimming. Hopefully he wouldn't see her. She still couldn't believe he was a lifeguard. He didn't really seem like one when she had met him at the club.
She walked over to the diving board area and with a little run off the diving board, managed to do a dive over into the deep water in that area. As she resurfaced her arms started moving to swim towards the side of the pool. As she got out she started walking to the diving board area again.
RJ sort of let his attention drift, looking over the pool. Besides the cute blonde, there were a few other people there. Not really any that caught RJ's attention, either for good reasons (hawtness) or bad reasons (notness). So he could definitely turn his attention back to the girl in question.
It appeared as though she'd given up on the book (who read a book at a pool anyway?) and had headed for the water. RJ waited till she'd dived and brought his whistle up to his lips. He kept his attention focused on her, waiting for just the right moment. When her head broke the surface, he let out a tweak on the whistle.
Then RJ rose up slightly on his lifeguard chair and began gesturing, using the come here motions. The girl should understand that. He could've said something, but RJ didn't want to start talking yet. That would ruin the surprise. He was already having trouble keeping a stern look on his face, and it was only thanks to all that acting training that he managed.
Serene hated this person for some reason. At the club he just assumed she wanted to dance and danced with her. Here for some reason he was blowing a whistle at her for seemingly no reason whatsoever. She looked up at a lifeguard closest to her and that one shrugged. Apparently she didn't see if Serene broke any rules. As she walked over to the stand where he stood her eyes tried to convey anger but there were to many happy emotions from people swimming in the pool. He was really the last person she wanted to see right now.
As she reached him she coolly said, "Is there anything I did wrong?" she pointed at a rules sign behind him, "I don't see any rules that I broke."
RJ waited patiently, his eyes on the blonde as she approached. Yeah, she definitely looked good in a swimsuit, though RJ had pretty well expected that. Most girls did, especially if they could dance like she had. RJ waited till she came close before pushing up his shades and leaning forward slightly, smiling his most charming smile.
"You're distracting the lifeguard," he said, winking, "and we know that's all kinds of dangerous."
He slid slightly down from the lifeguard tower, then leaned against it. Hands folded across his chest while he directed that sly grin at Serene. "Sorry about that, thought it would be a cool way of getting you to come up and see me. Didn't mean to upset you, so I guess I'm gonna have to make it up somehow."
RJ raised his eyebrows expectantly,, his grin widening still further.
Serene was angry inside her head. If only everyone could just leave and her emotions would be free she could express that. The most anger emotion she could express was trying to convey coldness with her eyes and failing. All the emotions from around her were only letting her think good thoughts like how good this boy looked in a swimsuit. He was actually kind of hot. Serene tried to stop herself front thinking these things but she couldn't help it.
"I was distracting you?" she said with exasperation, "You thought it would be a cool way to see me? Are you even really a lifeguard?" Serene wasn't very happy now, well, in her head she wasn't. She tried to look cross but it didn't work.
Oh, RJ knew he was hot. He reached up behind his head, threading his hands into his awesome hair, and stretched slightly, showcasing impressive abs and a body that just begged to be touched. That said body happened only to be covered in a pair of red swim trunks only further accented its awesomeness, as, of course, RJ knew all too well.
"Well, you're very distracting," he said, winking at the girl again. Then came the half-hummed "mhm" and a head bob as she talked about seeing him. The last bit had him raising his hands and pushing off the tower slightly. "Hey now, nothing says that I wouldn't save someone's life if they needed it." He took a step closer, his eyebrows raising another tic. "I'm also an expert in mouth to mouth. Demonstrations available at any time."
Bloody hell. Was this person who she only met a few days ago trying to seduce her? Serene knew coming to the pool on Friday the 13th would be awful. Yet, as she thought this, she couldn't help but notice how hot he was in his swim trunks right below those rippling abs. As he stepped closer towards her she didn't back away. Instead she started defiantly up at him.
He was so close to her know she could feel his breath on the top of her face as she looked up at him. "Sorry, but I don't feel like learning how to save a life currently." she started to turn. "Now I don't believe I broke any rules so if you'd excuse me I'm going to go finish my book." Serene turned fully now and started to stride off to her chair and finish the book.
RJ's jaw nearly dropped as she turned him down, turned him down cold. He stared at her for a few seconds, and actually wondered if she maybe got confused. That would definitely explain why she was passing up an opportunity to kiss him to go read a book or something.
And since RJ didn't have a lifeguard tower to monitor or anything, he didn't see any reason not to follow her for a few more steps. "Hey now," he said, moving to walk alongside her, facing her. He was tempted to get in her way but he didn't want to come across as too creepy. "There's no reason to act like that. You really can't blame a guy for wanting to kiss a girl as cute as you, right?" he gestured at her, that grin returning. "And hey, not like we really got a chance to talk after the dancing bit. Remember that?"
RJ did a little dance step to move further on down, figuring that it certainly wouldn't hurt. He did, after all, have the moves for it.
Serene really did not want him to start following her. She didn't want to be tempted into kissing a guy-no matter how hot he is- a few days after meeting him. He may be a psychopathic killer who's power is sucking the air out of people until they can't breath. He seemed surprised when she turned away and started to walk away from him. May be most girls jumped at the chance to kiss him.
As he talked Serene turned slightly to hide the blush. "Yes, I remember. We didn't chat much mainly because I had to leave." Serene was starting to regret the decision of not telling him she was an Empath. He may stay far away if he knew she could tell what emotion he was feeling at the moment. Right now she was just trying to stop the happy emotions around her from making her do something stupid.
As she reached her beach chair she reclined in it and took her book out. "Now I'd you'll excuse me I'm going to finish this book." she just wanted him to leave then she'll go swimming. That was a good plan. If he was a lifeguard then he could ban her from the pool for no reason and the best way to blame her for doing something wrong was while she was in the pool. She'll wait until he is gone.
Okay, so she was turning to hide something and talking about the whole leaving thing like that had been a bad thing. She seemed decidedly put out by him bothering her now though, which RJ just couldn't figure out. Did she want him to hang around or didn't she? The mixed signals thing was always frustrating as heck, and RJ wasn't sure he could do much more. She'd already seen him dance, and now he was shirtless. Short of taking his pants off and trying that one thing he saw on that music video, he didn't think there was much more he could do.
The girl even returned to her book. "Aww, c'mon," he said, gesturing. "I'm a lot more interesting than that!" he gestured and then let out a little huff, rubbing at his hair. She was one of those then, huh? Book-girls. They were pretty well impossible to get. Well, there was probably a bimbo around here somewhere, and RJ didn't want to stay where he wasn't wanted.
So he shrugged and turned back to sauntering toward the lifeguard tower, pausing to turn to her. "Hey, if you change your mind," he jerked his head toward the tower, "you know where I'm at," he added with a few raised fingers. He pointed them at her and then sauntered, putting his hands into his pocket in an attempt to draw his trunks tighter across his butt, and maybe just a little lower too.
Serene felt really awkward as he went. She watched him go and blushed slightly when he pulled his swim trunks a little lower. She turned away though after he got up on the tower again. About thirty minutes later she finished the book. It had been a mystery and she had already guessed who the murderer was. She was right.
She stretched for a moment and then out down her book. Getting up she decided she would try swimming another go. Carefully, to make sure she avoided the attention of the boy, she walked to the furthest side of the pool. Then she dove in and let the cool water splash over her body.
RJ did look over his shoulder as he headed off. It looked like the cute blonde had taken a look or something. Of course she did: she totally wanted the RJ, even if she was in total denial about wanting the RJ. The blushing virgin types usually were. Oh well, he'd just keep playing it smooth, let his natural magnetism win her over. He just sauntered right back up the tower, getting into position and staring out into the pool again.
Nope, didn't seem like many people were moving. Okay, they were like swimming and stuff, he guessed, but nothing exciting. A few decent looking girls, but nothing too distracting. Which pretty much meant that RJ went back to the cute blonde again. She seemed to be going as far away from him as possible.
"Oh yeah, totally wants the RJ," he said, smiling and watching for a few moments. He looked away after a bit though, figuring that he shouldn't make it too obvious. Look over the whole pool, make sure people weren't flailing around or something. Easy enough.
