Humphries had been following the young man for some time. The cat had been sneaking his way along the bushes, using all his cat stealth to make certain that the young man didn't know he was following. It was odd, especially as the man went out of his way to make sure people weren't following him. Clearly he didn't expect to be tailed by a cat, which just showed that someone hadn't done their research. Humphries caught himself purring, only just managing to stop as the young man paused to look. They were in the reception area now, and the young man finally pulled a lumpy duffel bag out from under his coat. He looked around one last time, then stuffed it into a corner.
Humphries waited till he left then bounded forward. He sniffed at the bag. Yes, it certainly smelled suspicious. Probably smuggling something from the school, potentially drugs, but definitely not something above board. Now, Humphries just needed to check, and for that, he needed a pair of human hands.
So Humphries trotted quickly out, meowing loudly, attempting to get the attention of someone, anyone, who happened to have a pair of hands and a willingness to follow a cat's instruction.

Charlotte had been minding her own business- avoiding the eye contact from any person who passed by- as she made her way back to her dorm room for lunch. She'd finished classes for the day but she had planned to go to the Library after a sandwich, so that she could study in the tranquility of the library.
However, as she passed the main office, she found herself distracted by a cat. The girl paused briefly, tilting her head at the feline which meowed loudly just through the door of the front office. What an odd cat she thought as she approached the animal slowly. It was not often she saw cats roaming around school, but she'd heard talk of a particular cat who was apparently very special. She wondered if this cat could be the one they had been talking of.
Charlotte knelt down by the cat, a frown forming on her face "Hello," she said quietly, watching the cat. She did not want to reach out and touch it, just in case it did not want attention of a human "What's wrong?"
Humphries nearly rolled his eyes as the human looked more confused and possibly amused at seeing the cat. He stopped a few feet from her, giving her a look that spoke of deep exasperation with her and her species just in general. Humphries flicked his tail, seriously considering abandoning the girl altogether as a lost cause.
Well, Humphries had worked with lost causes before, fairly recently too. Even the dullest of dullards could generally be trained. So he let out a meow and turned. Humphries trotted a few feet back the way he'd came, then paused to look over his shoulder again. He let out another meow, jerking his head slightly, flicking his tail again.
Then he trotted a few more steps, then paused yet again. Surely the human would have picked up on what she needed to do by now. Even the dull ones could usually figure this out. Though honestly, how many cats wandered around the Academy with outrageous bows and looking as though they completely understood what was going on around them? Some people...

The cat looked...unimpressed with Charlotte. She couldn't tell why he was dissapointed in her but the cats- oddly human like- frown and flicks of his long skinny tail made it clear that he wasn't too happy. Charlotte could have sworn that the creature was actually annoyed with her, not so much disapointed he hadn't been given a scratch behind the ears or something.
The young blonde was surprised when the cat meowed at her again, nodding his head towards the front office before turning swiftly on his feet and trotted towards the door. Charlotte watched him for a moment, and only realized that he wanted her to follow him once he'd paused and turned to her again, as if he were waiting for her to follow his foot- or pawprints.
"You want me to follow you don't you..." Charlotte said with a slight frown on her face.
She blinked for a moment, glancing around. There was no one really around and so no one would think her mad for following, let alone talking to a cat. Charlotte took a step after the cat and then another. She found this all very odd, but she didn't mind.
Humphries let out another meow and flicked his tail as the girl asked her question. Of course he wanted her to follow him. He couldn't have sent more accurate instructions unless he'd started twisting his body into shapes or hammering out Morse code. He was hoping that the device embedded in his bow/collar would soon pick up on her cell phone and allow him to send messages, though he didn't want to take time away from heading toward the source of suspicion to contort in the necessary way to get the message sent out.
She was willing to follow, and Humphries was willing to lead. he started taking off at a good trot, pausing every once in a while to confirm that she was still following. As soon as he had that confirmed, Humphries picked up speed, knowing that it would only be a few moments till they got to the reception area.
once there, Humphries headed straight for the duffel, letting out another meow and pawing at it. There. She should be able to figure that out.

Charlotte followed the cat, watching it checking back to see if she was following. The blonde giggled silently, she felt a little silly following a cat but the cat kept meowing and looking back at her, waiting for her to follow him. She was dedicated now, she couldn't turn back so she kept following the feline down the corridor. Charlotte didn't have anything better to do.
The cat then bounded off, ahead of her into the reception area. Frowning hard, Charlotte picked up the pace and jogged after the furry creature. "Wait for me!!" She called, following it round the corner to the reception area. This is insane Charlotte thought, I'm insane! she thought again as she walked through the door into the small front office. She paused for a moment, feeling the rare vibration of her mobile.
Frowning slightly, she reached into her satchel and pulled out her mobile. Outdated and more like a brick than a phone, Charlotte stared at the pixelated screen for a moment. There were a few new messages, all from an unknown name or number. The girl seemed confused, so she looked to the cat who was pawing desperatley at a holdall placed on the floor.
"What do you want me to do..?" she asked, mouthing the words just in case the owner of the bag saw her.
Humphries continued sitting by the duffel and eying the girl as she approached. She did seem at least willing and, well, now it seemed as though she was drawing out her phone and checking it. Humphries hadn't actually sent any messages yet, but if she was looking, there was a good chance that his device had finally hacked into her phone. Her question did require some answering, though Humphries figured that things should be at least a little self-explanatory.
Well, he'd just have to do the rest of the explaining himself.
Humphries pawed the duffel and twisted a few times, his device picking up his vocals and body language to send the message to Charlotte's phone: bag being placed by male of suspicious behavior and demeanor. doing the looking we should be doing. no worries: I am HUMPHRIES, and HUMPHRIES is security officer first class.
Humphries then batted at the duffel bag, meowing again before he began moving to find a zipper, which he batted a few more times. Moments like these were among the few times he actually wished for his opposable thumbs again. It was truly the only disadvantage to his otherwise purrfect form.
