FACE CLAIM: Sean O'Donnell
POWER:
Name of Power: Reactive Adaptation
Survival of the Fittest- When the body adapts to dangerous or potentially harmful situations by changing physically, morphing in some way to protect itself from the threat.
Adaptations Included thus far-
- gills to prevent drowning (takes between twenty and sixty seconds to complete adaptation, as this is the time it takes until submersion)
- increased body temperature in frigid conditions (takes a minute and thirty-two seconds for regulation)
- decreased body temperature in suffocating heat (same as increased temp.)
- increased oxygen in high altitudes (at most a minute to adapt)
- skin changes to prevent severe burns (roughly takes about a minute and twenty-four seconds to cover whole body, less if only trying to cover one body part)
LimitationsTemplate made by MEL, inspired by NU
-This ability is only triggered in dangerous circumstances, meaning he cannot call upon his ability whenever he chooses.
-Adaptations exclude being shot, cut or breaking a limb
-This ability cannot adapt to any internal medical problems such as; heart failure, disease or brain damage.
-Training is only able to be done within a controlled environment of danger with a medical supervisor nearby in case of emergencies
-Practicing without supervision is prohibited in this case
Side-Effects
-Once the adaptation has taken its course, it lingers for hours or sometimes days depending on the adaptation which means that in some cases he needs to adapt to his adaptation in order to not further his pain or discomfort. Once the danger has subsided for long enough and his body understands it is no longer in harm's way, he can return to normal routine.
-Weak immune system
-Migraines and muscle pain
-Strange sleeping patterns (ranging from sleeping all day to not sleeping for several days)
-The main side effect to this ability is the pain, it can feel almost like physical torture, however it only lasts as long as the adaptation takes to complete itself.

Session #1: (6/23/15)
My parents are making me do this because they think I have some superiority complex rather than the inferiority that as a teenager I'm 'supposed' to have. Just because I'm oozing confidence and self-esteem doesn't mean that I'm some narcissistic douche-bag. Granted if you look at my brother, he's that kind of person. I'm way too balanced for that shit.
"You know, as you speak, you are giving me more reason to believe your parents have a viable reason for wanting you to talk to me. Your brother is the gym teacher here is he not?"
Yes he is, which is all fine and dandy because I am kick ass at anything having to do with athletics.
"Uh huh, well you see, that's not why I asked. Your brother Nicholas? He's about ten years older than you, correct?"
And what does that have to do with my superiority complex?
"I'm just gathering facts and information to see where your parents might have stemmed their belief from."
Yes he is almost thirty, and you best believe that his age is starting to show. As soon as he starts balding, he's going to need counseling for a psychotic break. Be prepared Doc, his hair and his appearance are everything he has to offer anymore. It's not like he's doing anything with that football scholarship he had and he's not getting any smarter.
"And there's the reason I was looking for. Mr. Darwin, Nathan, how long have you felt threatened by your brother? Does it have to do with his ability or his manifestation? Or is it just that he's older than you and you feel as though you must live up to what he achieved in his 'glory days' as a student here?"
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I am not 'threatened' by Nick, King of the Meatheads. My manifestation was ten times harder than his, I almost drowned! Because he wasn't strong enough of a swimmer at twenty-two despite being number one on the swim team here. If it had been switched around, with the same ages we are now, I'd have been able to save him. But he couldn't, my ability did.
"So you blame Nick for your near-death experience?"
No.
"Well that's what you implied. Do you resent your brother?"
No, I love Nick. I mean, we don't always get along great, but he's my brother.
"So because 'he's your brother' that is the only reason you love him? Out of obligation?"
I said no. What does this have to do with my superiority complex?
"Your parents said inferiority, you switched them around due to the fact that you're hiding behind this feeling of being your brother's shadow. You want to believe you are confident and strong just like he does, but what it comes down to is that you are letting what he accomplished and what his personality is like to affect your own self-image."
There is nothing wrong with my self-image. Am I done here?
"Hardly, but I suppose for this session we can break. I'd like to meet with you twice a week when convenient, as I know you have a busy extra-curricular schedule."
And if I don't show up?
"Well consequences will be discussed with your parents and the head of the school. Please Nathan, I'm simply trying to do my job and to make you feel better about yourself without hating your brother. It'll help everyone if you just cooperate."
I didn't ask for help or your assumptions, thanks Doc. See ya.
Session #2 (6/25/15)
Thank you for meeting with us again today Doctor.
"It's my pleasure really. Hello again Nathan, I did warn you about the consequences I'm afraid."
This is ridiculous, Mom. Why'd you drive me here? I thought you loved me.
"Getting upset with your mother will not accomplish any progress Nathan."
Nate.
"I apologize, you didn't correct me in our last session. Now where did we last leave off?"
You were feeding me a bunch of bullshit about how I have an inferiority complex because my brother is deemed as some kind of God in school. And apparently I have nothing to show for it, isn't that right Doc?
Nathan Brody, language.
"It's alright Mrs. Darwin, I find that use of vulgar language can be used as an outlet. Nate, I didn't say anything about your lack of success, you merely assumed that I was implying such things because that is what you see in yourself."
I'm sick of you pretending to know about my life and my situation with my brother. What next, you gonna invite him here and make us bro it out? This is family stuff, and unless my brother puts a ring on your finger or my parents decide to adopt you into our family, that doesn't concern you.
"The next step actually is a journal, I require all of my weekly patients to write once a day or however much they choose to. It can be whatever you choose to write and at every session I will check to see if you have met the requirements. The better you comply, the faster you'll get to the point where we won't have to meet any longer. Isn't that what you want?"
Please Nathan, just listen to her. We want this animosity between you two to stop.
Why isn't he going through this shit too then? I'll fucking do it, but don't be shocked when I write shit you don't want to hear.
"Because this is about your problem with him, not the other way around. You can be sure though that we've spoken. And the journal is for you and you alone. I can not judge you for what you write. It's not part of my job, Nate. I'll let you go early today again, but please do start writing as soon as possible. I'll see you next week."
Entry #1 (6/25/15)
A special entry just for you Doc,
For all the shit that you've made me think about. I don't hate my brother, I don't resent him, he's blood. You can't hate blood because the same that runs through his veins runs through mine. Family is about loyalty and I know that my brother would stick by my side no matter what, just as I would for him. My parents are only worried because they think it's not normal the relationship I have with my brother, but they don't have siblings.
Brothers have a strange kind of relationship. It's one of love and loyalty, but it's also about showing each other your masculinity and how well you can take care of yourself. As Darwins, we've always understood survival of the fittest because that's how everyone sees us. With my ability I see that way more. I love my brother, but it's also my job as the younger brother not to let him toss me around.
You brought up my manifestation and I said something I shouldn't have because I don't blame Nick for almost drowning. If I wanted to be mad, I'd have to be equally as upset with my dad. The fact is that I got too far out because I thought I could handle it. None of us saw what was going to happen next. Despite the danger though, I made it out because of my manifestation. It made me stronger and that day when I swam back to the shoreline, it wasn't my mom or dad that made it to me first. It was Nick. He nearly tackled me because he was so relieved.
I don't hate my brother, Doc. But I won't deny that sometimes his legacy puts more pressure on me than I can handle. And for that ONE reason alone, I'll comply with your stupid rules and requirements.

SAMPLE:
Nathan was going a little bit off the deep end. As if that should be shocking. The poor kid didn't know what the hell his problem was or why he decided that Nick was the best person to help him out of this. Then again...he had asked Kadence first and she'd been busy. It was her that had encouraged him to go to Nick. She seemed to think that the older Darwin would actually give two fucks about his problems. Of course, Nate knew Nick would care, but it was the way that he'd go about helping that had the younger Darwin a little worried.
To say the least, Nick didn't always have a way with words and putting things nicely. Which is why Nathan wondered how Kadence could even tolerate his brute of a brother. But Nate was going to pull her out of her misery by marrying her instead, so he let his older brother have her for now. It was only a matter of time. Nate was swearing off relationship crap anyway for now. Waiting until Kadence reciprocated his feelings until he made his move. Right.
Heading to the apartment of the future love of his life and his douchey big brother, Nate wondered how exactly he was going to go about talking to his brother about his current situation. The last time he'd gotten screwed over, he was drunk and things had been easier to spout off because he had no filter. But here he was, sober as could be and still thinking the same things he had been when he was drunk.
Women sucked and were only good for sex. Yup. Okay, except Kadi, but she was his only exception.
Nathan knocked on the door, "Open the fuck up you lazy fucker." Good thing he knew Kadence wasn't home, otherwise, he'd have been a little less vulgar and a lot more polite with his words. But this was Nick. And Nick was the same way.
