NAME: Sam Finnegan Tucker
NICKNAME:
AGE: 18
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: College Student
FACE CLAIM: Hunter Parrish
POWER: Power Negation
Sam's power is very simple. He has the ability to negate and/or suppress the powers of other mutants. Basically what he does it putting a block on someone's ability, making them unable to use their power for a limited amount of time. This block cannot be seen or felt (for most people), the only thing the mutant he uses his ability on will notice, is the sudden inability to perform. This ability takes both mental and physical strength.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- Physical and mental strain; the more he uses his ability and the more someone fights against it, the more physically and mentally exhausted he'll feel.
- Headaches, migraines, nausea, tiredness, general exhaustion, restlessness.
LIMITATIONS:
- Mutants can fight against his ability, which means that although he suppresses/negates their ability, there's always a chance of it not working if their break through his block. The stronger the mutant and the ability, the harder it is for him to block it. (Same thing goes for willpower)
- He can only block their ability from a radius of 30 feet (10 meters), and the second either of them leaves this area, his power stops working. His ability also works better through skin to skin contact.
- He needs to focus in order for his ability to work, so the second his concentration is broken, his ability stops working. And the more he can focus, the better it'll work. The same goes for rendering him unconscious.
- This is always temporarily. He cannot take away someone's ability forever.
APPEARANCE SECTION: Sam has blonde hair that's usually kept unkempt and messy. He doesn't spend a whole lot of time on his looks, as he feels he doesn't really need to. No one's gonna love the awkward quarterback, right? His blonde hair matches his blue eyes perfectly, giving the boy quite the "Nordic", European look, although his family is from Texas.
Sam is rather tall, reaching a total of 5'10 feet above ground with a lean and muscular body. It's apparent that he has spent most of his life working out, without it being overly overdone. He's no body builder, but he still has what you'd call a "nice body". He weighs around 150 lbs, which he's fairly content with.
He has a pale, but fair complexion. Never really reaching the transparent nor the olive tanned stadium. When he tans, he usually turns more red and pink, rather than golden, which makes him put on tons of sunblock to avoid. Everything about his posture screams awkward; from the way he smiles to the way he walks. He doesn't look particularly confident, unless he's out on the field, kicking the ball, of course.
His dress code is rather bland and boring, usually wearing one colored shirts/sweaters and jeans. He also wears sneakers and that's just about it. Don't take me wrong; his sense of fashion isn't UGLY, just very normal and boring and there's really nothing out of the ordinary there. As for colors, he usually goes for white, blue or red.
MUST HAVE APPAREL: A silver cross necklace he got from his father. He doesn't wear it, but he likes keeping it close, because it reminds him how great his father was and helps him feel connected and close to him.
PERSONALITY SECTION: Meet Sam Tucker; the typical high school quarterback who dreams about a scholarship in football, gliding through life without any worries and has a high sense of morality. Now, looking at Sam, he surely looks like the typical playboy football player who has it all figured out, but the truth couldn't really be further from that...
Now, Sam isn't entirely stupid. There's many things he's good at, but he's not particularly sharp either. Most things will go over his head without him understanding it, and he isn't exactly what you'd call book smart. But he manages by, if you look away from the fact that he sometimes puts his clothes on the wrong way and often mistakes a fork and a spoon. He's the kind of dense that makes people turn around, stare at him with a "are you serious"-expression and wonder what the actual f*** this guy is talking about.
Sam is kind hearted. He was brought up to respect the people around him and he loves people, including their flaws blindly. He's the kind of guy that would see a puppy on the street without an owner, bring it home and add it to his collection of already 8049383404 homeless puppies, regardless of what it'd cost him. He doesn't have any puppies, but I'm sure you get the picture. Sam would give his entire life to ensure that other people are happy. He's cheery, he's dense and he's as loving as they get.
He's also a born and raised Christian, but not the bad kind. He loves gays and believe in equality; but he's still a faithful Christian nonetheless. He believes that everyone, no matter how bad, deserve a second chance and that everyone deserve to have something good in their life. Sam is a gentleman through and through. He is also extremely awkward and would flush just by the mention of boobs and naked girls. He blushes a lot and is often found tripping over his own words...and feet.
He's also kind of a "knight in shining armor", always feeling the need to deserve those less fortunate. He's easily taken advantage of, but doesn't really mind as long as it makes other people happy. He's hard to anger, but also cries easily. He's easily touched, but more importantly, he's rarely seen without a smile covering his face.
EXTRA QUIRK: Sam has an obsession with adorable animals. They make him squee. He claims that it's totally cool and manly, but really... He sounds like a twelve year old girl fangirling over Justin Bieber.
FATHER: Finnegan Tucker, deceased
MOTHER: Anita Tucker, alive
SIBLINGS: A younger sister, a brother and an older sister.
PET: A pet dog named Charles. Charles lives with his mother.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
WORTHY MENTIONS: Ellen Banks (he's had a crush on her since he first arrived the school. No one understands why -- and neither does he)
CHILDHOOD: Sam Finnegan Tucker was born and raised in Houston, Texas to Anita and Finnegan Tucker. They were your typical Christian family who loved and cherished each other. Sam was the middle child of a group of three, himself and his two sisters. From the day he was born, Sam was taken to church and was brought up to respect everyone around him, including those who didn't share the same religion and gay people. His parents taught him that people were allowed to have different beliefs, and that it didn't make them any less human.
Even from an early age, it became apparent that Sam was your typical young boy. He loves playing football and catch with his dad, and as he reached school, he started playing football "professionally". Sam had a great relationship with his family, and they all spent a lot of time together, going hiking and taking trips together. He respected both his parents and his siblings.
Sam was never really the popular kid, but he wasn't bullied either. Despite his obvious football talent, he preferred sticking to the background, never really making himself visible. People and attention made the boy awkward, and he preferred sticking to the shadows over anything. This however changed when Sam's dad died from cancer when he was ten. His family took it hard, but they received a lot of support from their friends, neighbors and church.
Although it was hard, Sam learned to live with it over the course of the years. After all, he wasn't a very angry child. He always tried looking at the bright side of life and considering how he was now the "man of the house", he felt the need to step up.
ADOLESCENCE: Sam's powers manifested when he was twelve, much to his mother and sister's surprise, as neither of them had showed any signs, and neither seemed to be mutants themselves. It happened during football practice and Sam felt very odd. Thinking he was sick, he was sent to the school nurse who couldn't find out what was wrong with him. The same day, he was sent to a doctor, and the doctor who happened to be in contact with the Bellefonte academy, called the school.
The shock hadn't settled when the recruiters arrived a week later, telling both Sam and his family about what he was and what he could do. After the talk, his mother agreed that the best course of action was to leave her son in the care of the school so that he could learn to control his abilities. Sam didn't really agree as he still felt the need to be the man of the house and take care of his family, but the recruiters didn't leave him much choice.
His time at the school was hard at first. He didn't quite feel as if he fit in, but after warming up to the idea for a few weeks, he decided to try out for the football field, and to his surprise, he got in and received the role as the team's quarterback.
During his years at the school, Sam was approached by many girls, but he always turned them down, claiming there was someone else he liked. Well, that was part of the reason; Sam felt much too awkward to be around girls, let alone actually date them. But during his first few weeks on the football team, the young quarterback noticed a certain blonde, one of the cheerleaders and the young blonde ran away with his heart right away. Of course, she never knew as Sam was far too much of an idiot to ever approach her, but he was content with admiring her from afar.
Life continued this way and he always saw himself as rather blessed, despite the normal ups and downs that follows with being young and dealing with teenager stuff.
ADULTHOOD: Now that he's eighteen -- as mentioned in his personality section, Sam is a rather dense creature, making it hard for him to understand certain things, which of course meant that his grades barely cut it for him to graduate, but as he wanted to stay on the team, he somehow managed to pass in every class. Which of course meant that Sam was happy, as he could continue playing football and hang with his friends.
He also got into playing the guitar recently, but he's not really all that good and he's far too shy to ever play in front of people or even join a club, but it's something he enjoys spending his alone time doing -- when he's not busy hanging with his friends, playing football and playing video games of course.
