François rarely was so psyched up. At least not on his own. He did love to be around people, to help them and also to have fun. But he was not one big ball of energy. He had no idea where it came from exactly. Maybe a residue from someone, something he picked up after practicing to control his power in the cafeteria today. He had been so proud over the fact he spent most of the lunchtime there without being overwhelmed. But maybe it rubbed off on him more than he thought. He did try to focus only on specific emotions. He had yet been able to shut it down completely, focusing on one person or one emotion was the best he could do right now, and the second someone was feeling too intensely, his focus was lost. But today, it went well. No drama happened, at least not near him.
Maybe it was the pride to have spent so long a time with so many people that made him barely keep up in one place. He knew he had a class now but he felt like he wouldn’t be able to concentrate throughout it. It didn’t happen often, but he wanted to be out, to do something more interesting. Could he skip a class? He had never done so before. He just wasn’t the type to bend rules, no matter how much he wished to do so. Plus, it would probably be an important lesson. Or not. What was wrong with him today?
He knew when he was usually feeling this lively and smiling. With people like Frank Cox. The girl was just one big rainbow of randomness. One thing for sure, you couldn’t be bored around her. When he first came here, being around people proved difficult. And it was hard on him since he always loved to be around people. As he developed his power and learned to control it, he tried to meet other students. And he met her. She was crazy, but in a good way.
He looked around the room. Was she here? That would explain why he was so bubbly. Strong feelings tended to rub on him, making him feel it too. And she sure had energy for ten people. Or twenty. Or the whole school. He scanned the room again. Maybe it would be best if she wasn’t around. She might as well make him get away from the class before the bell could ring. And who knows what they’d be doing next. Although he was more than up for it today.
