Eryn walked out of his office, a few folders under his arm, his legs moving him along at a fairly brisk pace. He was currently suppressing his telepathy powers, as was normal for him. Looking around, he used his passive sensory abilities, letting his legs move on auto-pilot while he focused on sensing around him. A regular caution of his, he ensured there was no one out there sensing abilities, or any form of telepathy he needed to be worried about. Fortunately for him, telepathy and power sensing is a seemingly rare power. So he opened his other sense, hearing thoughts around him, filtering them automatically. He was almost to his destination, glancing at his watch, saw he had a few minutes remaining. Just like he'd planned. He was meeting with a student who had been at the school for about a week. Amusingly enough, one that he'd actually been in charge of tracking down. She was a very late bloomer, as far as powers are concerned, her "Dream Walking" as it was casually called among the recruiters, hadn't developed until nineteen.
Sitting down in a chair set up near the cafeteria, he waited. He was to check with the girl, and see if she was having any issues, and get feedback on her impression of the school. Normally this was the kind of job assigned to a teacher, but Eryn had managed to push to get himself assigned to it instead, because of his interest in her powers. Waiting patiently, he skimmed her files again, double checking his information.

As a note, it can be assumed that Eryn is monitoring thoughts unless there is someone else with telepathy or power sensing around.

Cassie had just started her second week at the Academy and she was supposed to have a meeting with one of the staff members to check up on her and see how she was settling in. She wasn’t sure she really wanted to do that she wasn’t all that sure how to answer the questions she expected to be asked; she still had no control over her power though she had met some nice people which was good. She didn’t see it as being a good idea to ditch the meeting though, she knew in her mind she should take every opportunity to find out more about how to control things as she possibly could.
She was to meet them in the courtyard by the cafeteria and despite herself felt nervous butterflies well up in her belly she was a free spirit and got nervous in situations that seemed more formal. Irrational she knew but she didn’t know how to control that feeling it just was and she just did her best to control it.
As she walked to the meeting spot a small rucksack hanging over her shoulder with a few school supplied but mostly her sketching tools in it she recognized the guy sitting there waiting for her. For a brief moment her brow furrowed in confusion she had been told one of the teachers would follow up with her on this day at this spot when she first started she hadn’t expected it to be the recruit who tracked her down after 2 weeks of her running from him.
Taking a breath to calm herself she plastered a smile on and walked up to him with determination, “Hey, I thought the recruiters usually bypassed the follow up interview?” she said easily with a slight questioning tone to her voice. Swinging the rucksack off her shoulder she placed it on the ground beside the empty chair and took a seat waiting for the inquisition to begin.
Nodding politely at the student, Eryn easily responded to her comment. "Normally, yes. But your case is so unique that they asked me to follow up, since I know you best. Which doesn't say much, Ms. Salinas. Your history is hard to track." He gave a fatherly smile, being quite polite and pleasant. "Besides, they also use me as a counselor here, so it technically isn't outside of my job description. With the economy, we're all working more jobs than we probably should."
Opening his folder, he skimmed her files, though he already knew what it all said. Instead he was focusing on her thoughts. Her power made her dangerous to his plan, though right now it was reliant on physical contact to activate. But he was leery on what she might do, or become. And if she were against him in the future... He had to figure her out right now, and ensure she was sided with him before she developed. "So, Ms. Salinas, how has your first week been? Anything that we can help with? I trust the school load isn't too bad, given you've already pretty much completed your education. I don't see a trainer listed here..." He flipped a couple of pages and glanced at her. Ideally, he'd set himself up to be her trainer, to increase his change to recruit her, but with powers like hers... Well, it was difficult to train someone without having them use their powers on you at least once. And that was the last thing he wanted.

Cassie listened to his response to her half question regarding why he was the one doing the interview and her brow furrowed slightly, she briefly wondered why her situation was so unique. Was it because her power had manifested so late she wondered to herself, or was it something else? Maybe the school and he knew something about her that she didn’t, and was her history really that hard to track? Sure she had moved around allot but her parents were still right where she left them, she still called to check in every so often and see how things were with them and let them know she was still alive and all that they didn’t have a bad relationship or anything.
She smiled a little at his comment about the economy and everyone working more then they probably should and she nodded slightly that wasn’t such a stretch it seemed now days everyone wanted so much more done but wanted to cut staff and save money as well, needless to say the two things did not balance out very well.
Cassie didn’t make a comment on these statements though she simply waited patiently as he flicked through the folder he held, hers she guessed and she wondered what it said about her in there how much of her life was documented in that little folder.
"So, Ms. Salinas, how has your first week been? Anything that we can help with? I trust the school load isn't too bad, given you've already pretty much completed your education. I don't see a trainer listed here..."
She cringed at him calling her Ms. Salinas, it was way too formal for her way of life even Castilla was she never introduced herself as Castilla it was pretty and all and she liked the look of it on paper but she preferred to keep things simple. “First of all its Cassie, and so far the school seems ok, though I’m guessing the fact I don’t have a trainer listed would explain why I haven’t had any training sessions yet” she said with a shrug. She had hoped that she would have had a trainer by now so she could start figuring out how to block this power of hers she was already sick of walking around scared of touching people in case she triggered an episode as she was calling them.
That just wasn’t who she was she was a happy outgoing person who didn’t have much of an issue with the whole personal space thing, so it was so at war with her personality to withdraw from people this way.
Eryn laughed gently at her insistence to call her by her nickname. "Oh course Cassie, I apologize." He didn't mind being less formal at the request of the student. She'd been difficult to track down because, despite being in contact with her family, she'd had the ability to obtain resources that most potential students didn't have, and was already used to moving around in the world as an adult. But that was no longer important. "I'm glad that you're not unhappy with the school so far. As for your trainer... Well, actually having trouble with the ratio of staff to student for them." He made a somewhat dissatisfied face, expressing without words that he didn't care for how the administration was handling the hiring of more staff, but didn't let it linger, the expression fading almost as quick as it appeared.
"Though, I suppose if you're alright with it, I could assign you to myself for training. It's a little bit uncommon, but given our current staffing situation, I imagine it would be allowable. But only if you're comfortable with such an arrangement." His expression was fatherly and apologetic as he waited for her input and response.

Cassie sat their patiently listening to him talk about the lack of staff and trainers and couldn’t help thinking to herself, great so they dragged me off to a school promising to help me control this crap and don’t even have enough staff to live up to their promise. She wondered for a moment if she would be better off just taking off again, going out to the forest jumping on Belle and taking off maybe she could go find a school that actually had some staff or something. Surely this couldn’t be the only school in the world right.
Cassie pulled her mind back to the conversation at hand listening to his offer to train her himself. “Look if you can teach me how to control this crap then fine put yourself down as my trainer, but if you can’t don’t pretend you can” she spoke mentally chastising herself for her attitude as she did, she wasn’t usually like this but the power had her frustrated, she was the sort of person who had no worries with personal space not worrying if people got in hers but because of this power she had become someone who shied away from physical contact and she hated it she just wanted to learn how to control it so she could get back to being herself and she didn’t want to waste time with someone who didn’t know what they were on about.
Hearing her thoughts and silent concerns, Eryn considered how these thing could help him push the young woman towards his side eventually. Always the type to keep laying down more plans and webs, he was factoring in as much as he could with this meeting. He'd understood that she wanted to learn to control her power, but now it seemed like she was already preparing to ostracize herself from the rest of the students. It made sense, in a way. She was older than them, didn't have to take any classes with them, and her fear of her power made any form of physical contact terrifying. As best as Eryn could tell, she needed a friend and perhaps parental figure. Who better than he to fill that role?
"Ms. Sal-. That is, Cassie, I do apologize for any distress this may be causing you. Things are difficult across the country, and despite all of our abilities and resources, we are no exception. I personally have had considerable success with training mentally based powers of all kinds. I would be amiss if I tried to say I can guarantee helping you gain control, but I do have confidence that if we cannot make progress, another trainer can step in that you may be more comfortable with." He spoke calmly and politely, her somewhat abrasive choice of words not bothering him.
"I do want to help you in any way possible. Training is one route that we can take. If there is anything else you find you need some assistance with, that is fine, please just tell me. I do my best to remain approachable by all students and staff." He didn't go on, feeling she'd get tired of him and think it was just some rant or such. He meant his words and most people, students especially, did come to him for fatherly advice. But he was careful not to try and force such a thing upon her.

Cassie couldn’t help noticing how even when he used her nickname he still spoke in a way formal manor as if he was like royal or something and had to be on his best behaviour at all times. She almost found herself laughing out loud at it but she kept it to herself letting only a small smile cross her lips as he described the difficulty the country was facing and how he thought he could try and help her but couldn’t make any guarantee’s. She shrugged slightly it was better than nothing at least he was offering help in one on one training to gain control which was more than she had gotten so far here.
“Alright you can try, and if I think of anything else I will let you know” she said easily although he spoke like some prim proper pain in the ass, she figured he could be worth the effort of dealing with that annoying habit of his if she could learn control so she could get back to being herself.
“So teach when and where for our first session?” Cassie was keen to get started as she figured the sooner she got to training the sooner she could gain control and get back to exploring the world. Though she had already met some cool people here and wouldn’t mind staying a little longer to get to know them some more, especially one guy in particular, cute funny and sweet who wouldn’t want to get to know him better.
