NAME: Sierra Renee Wilson
NICKNAME: none
AGE: 12, born 3.10
GENDER: female
ORIENTATION: still figuring it out, but heteroromantic asexual in the future
POSITION: Bellefonte student
FACE CLAIM: Mackenzie Foy
POWER:
Crystal Projectiles
Sierra can fire crystal projectiles from her fingertips. In actuality, the crystals are formed from extensions of her bones that crystallize due to contact with the air, due to an abnormality in her bones. Because of this, they measure about three inches long and only a few millimeters around. This ability is also linked to her stress level.
Currently, the only hand motion that causes the projectiles to fire is when she moves her hands in a downward diagonal motion. Once she gains more control, she will be able to fire the projectiles from a still hand just by willing it. The projectiles are more likely to fire when she is extremely afraid, angry, or stressed. They are less likely to fire when she is bored, sad, or some other neutral emotion, and will not fire at all if she is happy.
The biggest molecular difference between the crystals she fires and the crystals that are either man-made or naturally found is that her projectiles contain her DNA.
Self-HealingTemplate made by MEL, inspired by NU
Sierra's self-healing is caused by the same abnormality that causes her bones to crystallize, except it simply works by hardening her skin and forming a natural restorative, thus healing small cuts, scrapes, and bruises quicker.
Limitations
Her crystals are only projectiles, she can do nothing else with them. Her healing ability is unconscious, and only works on small skin-level wounds. The single exception to this is when she fires her projectiles. Due to the nature of her crystal projectiles, the bone is technically broken in order to fire the crystals. The healing ability heals the broken end of the bone that remains after the crystals have been fired.
The crystal she can fire is aquamarine crystal, and she cannot change the crystal. This is again due to the abnormality in her bone structure.
She can only shoot one crystal from each finger at a time, with a current rate of only two or three every ten seconds. The speed of the projectiles depends on her stress level. The more stressed she is, the faster the crystals travel. The fastest they can go is about half the speed of a regular bullet.
Her self-healing is an unconscious ability, and she cannot use it on anyone else. Wounds more severe than a cut, scrape, or bruise take the normal heal time.
Side-Effects
Because her bones are crystallizing to form her projectiles, there is a degree of pain when she uses her ability. But, because of the abnormality in her bone structure, her bones are slowly crystallizing within her. Once her bones completely crystallize, the marrow will be unable to produce red blood cells, and she will need plasma transfusions. However, this process is incredibly slow, and it is unlikely that she will need to have transfusions until she reaches 35-40 years old. This process will shorten her natural life span by about fifteen years. Due to this same abnormality, her bones are actually harder than normal, and thus do not break as easily.
Due to the nature of her abilities, her hands are more sensitive to temperatures and textures. She usually wears a pair of cotton gloves to compensate for this, but it is not always effective.
After using her crystal powers, Sierra's fingers and wrists get stiff, and this can last from a few hours to a day or more, depending on how long she was using her ability for. Overusing her crystal powers can cause severe headaches and sensitivity to light that lasts for one to three days. During that time, she has trouble focusing on anything, sometimes to the point where simply walking around causes trouble for her.
APPEARANCE SECTION: Sierra is a rather small girl, standing at only 4 feet tall, and slender, weighing only 60 pounds. She has light brown hair with natural red highlights that show up only in certain lights. Her eyes are green, rimmed with black on the outside, and near the pupil the green fades to a really soft, light brown. Her hair is long, falling to the middle of her back in a straight curtain. She prefers leaving it down, only putting it up when she absolutely has to.
She has a single piercing in each earlobe, but never wears anything beyond a simple pair of stud earrings even though she does have a few pairs of larger earrings. She simply prefers the understated and simple look over flashy and attention-grabbing. She doesn't have much of a feminine figure to speak of, but she doesn't really care.
MUST HAVE APPAREL: Sierra prefers the understated clothes, things that will help her remain unnoticed in a crowd. She wears her uniform to dress code regulations, choosing the skirt version over the pants and shorts. She always has a simple pair of studded earrings, silver posts with aquamarine gemstones, an early Christmas present from her mother.
She has a simple pair of black cotton gloves that she wears to compensate for the increased sensitivity in her hands.
PERSONALITY SECTION: Sierra is a cheerful girl by nature, though recently she has withdrawn into herself due to the way her crystal ability manifested. She will talk to someone who comes up to her, but most cases she will not go out of her way to talk to anyone else, at least not right now. Currently, she is quiet and withdrawn, though you might get her to perk up a bit if you ask her about her favorite movies. She loves animated movies, especially Disney.
Before her powers manifested, Sierra was a bright young girl who loved to talk and explore. She was adventurous and care-free. She didn't really think about the consequences, nothing ever happened. She had plenty of friends, but wasn't considered popular.
Now, she is withdrawn and quiet, prefering to keep to herself than to talk to others. She doesn't want her powers to hurt anyone else, so she keeps herself distant from everyone. Also, because of the men that attacked her, she is overly wary of anyone who is physically male. If the person looks like a guy, she's more likely to run away than she is to respond to him.
EXTRA QUIRK: Sierra loves anything cherry flavored, with the exception of medicine. She works on her own a lot, and she tends to hum various songs, especially if she has the radio on.

CHILDHOOD: Sierra Renee was the second child born to Thomas and Jessica Wilson, three years after her older brother Jeremy was born. Two years later, the twins Peter and Rebecca were born. Sierra went unnoticed for most of her life. Her parents weren't as strict with her as they had been with Jeremy, but she wasn't as spoiled as Peter and Rebecca.
Sierra's mother Jessica came from a long line of mutants, but the powers were all different. Her father Thomas, on the other hand, was a normal human. Because of this, Jeremy was born normal. He didn't have powers. Thomas and Jessica began to hope that all four of their children were normal.
They lived in a small town, with a forest area just behind the school. Sierra regularly went exploring with her friends, though they all made sure to follow the main rule. Never stray from the path. The one time they did, a boy fell and broke his arm. This happened when Sierra was eight.
ADOLESCENCE: Sierra's eleventh birthday was rather uneventful. Until her father announced that he was getting a promotion, and they would all have to move to a new city. Jessica did not like the city they were going to have to move to, for a number of reasons.
Sierra turned twelve, and the last day of school, her friends threw her a goodbye party. She was moving
Sierra loved to explore and adventure. For the first few weeks, she kept to the apartment building where they lived. Then she ventured further, to their street. She did her best to memorize the layout of the area because she did't want to get lost. But, one day, she was lost in thought and roamed further than she had dared to go before.
She got lost in the dangerous part of town and got attacked by a pair of older men in their thirties. They backed her up against a wall, and, in a last-ditch effort to fight back, Sierra swung at them. Crystals shot out of her fingertips and pinned both men to the ground. One man was simply stuck by his baggy clothes, but the other man was severely wounded. Sierra didn't notice at the time, but her fingertips where the crystals had burst from healed over in moments.
Sierra was taken into police custody, but before anything could be decided, an official from Bellefonte Academy came and smoothed everything over. The woman, named Maria, told Sierra that the man would survive, and that Sierra was going to have to go to a special school for kids with powers. It was the same school that Jessica had gone to. In fact, Sierra's mother and the official from the Academy had been in the same class. Jessica agreed that it was the best option for her daughter, and Maria decided that she would travel with the girl to the school.
She was given a set of rules that she is forced to live with during her first few years at the Academy. She is restricted to the Bellefonte grounds for one year, and after that she must stay within the city limits of the nearby town until she turns 16. The only exceptions are monitored visits home during the long holidays.

SAMPLE: (trigger warning)Sierra looked around nervously. This wasn't right... Was she lost? She remembered daddy pointing this are out when they drove past. He had said to stay away from here, there were people who would take little kids away. This was the scary part of their new town.
Voices... There were people following her! She began to run, but that only got her even more lost. She ended up in an alley, backed against a wall of bricks. She tried to make herself as small as possible, squishing herself into the corner as the men approached.
"Let's grab her already!" said one man.
"We can't be too rough, she'll fetch a good price," said the other. "She's young, nothing wrong with her skin... She's a bit scrawny, but someone'll pay good money for a brat like her."
"No... Leave me alone!" Sierra screamed. She threw her hands in front of her, as if she was going to hit someone, and she heard pained grunting from the two men, along with a strange ringing noise. She opened her eyes and saw the two men stuck to the ground by strange blue crystals. One man was trying to break free, but the other... She pressed herself against the wall when she saw the pool of blood spreading from the other man. She looked down at her hands, realizing that they were hurting bad, and she saw small trails of blood leading from each fingertip. Her eyes widened, and she began to cry. She'd done this...? How had she done this? What was she? What was happening to her?!
