There probably weren't exact statistics regarding how much people should like animals. That was more of a general impression that Add couldn't quite shake: she was a young woman, ergo she should like things that young women liked, and it seemed that quite a few young women liked small, furred creatures. Add had also heard that there were animals in need of help and aid; she had seen the depressing commercials where a woman sang a sad song while pictures of downtrodden and abused animals flashed across the screen. It had been most touching.
So Add figured that she should visit the pet rescue, most likely to volunteer. It probably helped that volunteering would doubtless look good to the various people that Add had to report to. That was social contact; even better: it was social contact that went toward aiding in general social goals. Sure, it probably meant spending more time with animals as opposed to people, but that didn't really reduce the whole social aspect of it, at least, not greatly.
It didn't take away Add's slight discomfort with animals though. Hence why she thought she should like them as opposed to actually doing so. Animals, particularly dogs, defied probabilities. They were willing balls of random just waiting for a chance. Plus, Add had experienced some bad things with dogs in the past; nothing too major, but enough to make her nervous.
Still, she was in Kalispell Pet Rescue now. She took a deep breath, nearly tasting the animal musk that hung in the air. Add unwound her scarf and looked about, trying to see if there was someone she should be talking too. Perhaps someone else had volunteered or someone actually worked here? The place was open, so the probability of someone being about was fairly high...
