Meet me in the forest at 10PM. I've missed my dark pup.
-Rae
A small note left in Devyn Solway's room without having to step foot inside of her dorm.
Shadows really were a girl's best friend.
There were many reasons why she wanted to see Devyn again. Some were more selfish reasons, as to wanting to fill some sort of void, a hole of emptiness that she suddenly had and yet no man or woman with money and the ability to make her wet was able to fill it in. Another reason may have been because she wanted to formally let Devyn know that she was now back at the Academy to go through with college after putting it off for so long. Maybe she even missed how cold to the touch her ex was when she was in her other form, maybe she was the only one who ever truly understood her? Another reason could even be that she no longer had her number.
Or maybe she just missed her favorite toy.
Either way, Rae wasn't going to wander around the thought of it for too long, it was somewhat depressing to say the least. So for now, she'd stand in the middle of a trail, taking another drag of her cigarette. The only sound that was really alive was the sound of crickets, a few birds, maybe even some rustling in grass that the trees surrounded. She hadn't given Devyn a specific area because she didn't really have to.

This was so not happening; this note could not have been real and must have been some stupid prank someone decided to pull on her. Whoever it was, she was going to find them, and rip them a new one because that name, that nickname were not something to just say or tease about with Devyn. They had a lot of weight behind them and such weight was not something she wanted to deal with right now. She was still having issue with getting over Zoe and now here was this note, one that if it was true would surely lead to some pain as well. Dev just wanted to sit in her room and listen to music, but there was that note. She wanted to believe that it was a prank, but the scent belong to someone that she could not forget no matter how hard she tried. Letting out a deep breath she looked at the note once more.
Meet me in the forest at 10PM. I've missed my dark pup.
-Rae
"Don't go. It's a bad idea. Just don't." Devyn repeated out loud to herself over and over and yet when the time came around she was out in the forest. Still repeating to those words as she walked silently through the forest. "Arg! Dev you are being so stupid. Why are you going to go see her? You are so pathetic." Devyn scolded herself as she stopped once she was far enough into the woods. She ran her hands through her hair, ruffling it roughly as she tried to get control over her thoughts and feelings. It had to be a joke, right? What would Rae want with her after so long and after things had ended the way they did? Damn it. Devyn thought to herself as she took a deep breath. Sniffing at the air and picking up light traces of that familiar scent as she followed after it, moving silently as if she was stalking down some prey.
She didn't even need to full sniff Rae out; she could practically feel the girl in some odd kind of way as she got closer. They both controlled shadows, and while they did it differently, there was still that odd connection. Devyn could feel her own shadow practically leading the way as she followed the scent, stopping just behind a tree as she spotted Rae. It was her; she was real...unless this was an illusion. "Rae..." Devyn said, that was pretty much all she could get out as she stepped out halfway from behind the tree so Rae could see her. One of her hands still clinging tightly to the bark of the tree.

Even though she had waited for some time, she could feel the addition of someone's shadow. The closer it became, the more noticeable the details of the shadow had become. It was all too familiar and for the first time in a while, it brought a light smile onto her face. Rae had knew she would show up, there was no denying it and even though Devyn had all the power to stay at home in her nice and cozy dorm, here she was meeting Raegan in the middle of the forest.
This would surely be an interesting night.
"Rae..." The doubt in her voice, it was just so welcoming. Not like she could blame Devyn, last she remembered, she made it clear that she didn't want anything to do with her and after all of the crazy shit Devyn was going through, especially with her father passing away. It was suffocating Raegan and so she split and made herself non-existent the best way she knew how. And now she was back, so Devyn could either take it or leave it... but she wasn't going to give her the choice of leaving it. Not right now.
Smiling, she took another puff of her cig before putting it out with her shoes. She walked closed to Devyn, "You could at least pretend to be excited to see me." She tilted her head to the side, smiling, as she was finally face to face with her ex. She lifted a hand to caress the side of Devyn's face. "I've missed you so much."

Devyn had the power to just crumple up the note and just stay in her room and pretend like she never saw it. She did in fact crumple up the note and she stayed in her room a little while, but in the end she ended up out hear. Not even bothering to change into anything that would look attractive or anything like that. Just clothing that was easy to slip on and off so she could get out here, talk to Rae or something, and then head back to her room. She honestly debated just showing up in her school uniform but she had already gotten a few holes in a few of her sets because she ended up wearing them out in the woods from time to time. Branches liked to scratch and tear at clothing regardless of how nice it was, so she felt it was best to wear something less then nice.
There was a lot of doubt in her voice, but it should have been expected and honestly Devyn felt like just running. She didn't often get such a feeling but right now it seemed like the greatest idea in the world. Especially since she had now said Rae's name and her very first girlfriend was now looking at her. Smiling at her and then getting rid of the cigarette she of course would have been smoking, a bad habit. Devyn had that habit then too when she was going out with the older girl but broke it, yet it had slowly been coming back. The cigarettes are what summoned her. Devyn thought to herself as she slightly moved back as Rae proceed to get closer. It was a step back, but then she took a step forward, wanting to hold her ground and not submit.
"Sorry..." Devyn apologized, wanting to say more but words seemed to be really hard to come by at the moment. She was already considering that Raegan should just do whatever it is she had to do because Dev was messed up. Rae didn't like to deal with messed up people, that was why they broke up, and Devyn was currently messed up. The touch automatically made her flinch as she moved slightly away from it, letting out a low growl. She was still on her guard, grip tightening on the tree she was practically clinging to with one hand. "Missed me so much...didn't think that was possible." Devyn muttered a little and then shook her head. She knew she could not just be a jerk just because of the past, she had to get better. “I take it you are back at BA then…going to college or…” Devyn sort of asked, her voice still in practically a whisper.

There was a lot about Devyn that hadn't change and just so much that had. It was a shame that she could pinpoint them so easily, she hadn't really expected Devyn to wear her emotions on her sleeves so easily. Her clothing had always been as laid back as usual, something that Rae so happened to miss when she was dealing with such uptight and well dressed men at her job. It became somewhat of a bore.
Taking a deep breath, the fall weather clashed with her own breath. Devyn was so defensive but it wasn't like her to expect anything less or anything more from her ex. It wasn't like they were the best of pals after their breakup and she hadn't even bothered keeping in contact with Devyn but she would at least hoped that the younger girl understood how things worked. It was clear that Devyn was also showing her how things worked. Not only did she flinch, Devyn even growled at her. Lowering her hand, she glanced at the ground before looking back at Devyn's face. A soft smile dancing upon her lips.
Yeah, once upon a time Raegan had made it clear to Devyn about how she couldn't handle fucked up people... until she realized how messed up she was herself, and she simply embraced it.
She chuckled, "Anything is possible. I'm sure we both know that." She glanced around the forest, "Yeah, I've decided to start college while I work. To give me something to do, keep me busy during the daytime. Waking up to a new person every morning gets boring sometimes, you know? So I got myself a new place while I attend." Her hazel eyes focusing on Devyn, she smiled softly, only awaiting her reaction. "So you could say I'm back for good."

Devyn didn't mind the fall weather, she was dressed up in long sleeves and jeans after all so she was not really cold. Plus she was used to the cold because of her power so she was not really bothered by it. Her green eyes glanced over what Rae was wearing, not at all surprised but it did take a moment for her to pull her eyes away from that frame in front of her. Looking off to another tree to distract herself for a moment and keep her mind from wondering any place that she did not want it to wonder. She was defensive, but again she figured that it would not have come as a surprise. Things had been left off bad between the two of them and Rae pretty much, made it clear that she didn't want to deal with Devyn. They didn't deal with one another after that and it had been a while since Devyn had actually seen her.
So yes, she growled with it hinting to a warning but a small hint of want, since Devyn growled for both those reasons among others. It was mainly a defensive warning growl that she let out most of the time when dealing with other people. Yet, there were times where the growl meant something else but Reagan more than likely new about that as well. There was a soft smile on Rae's face, one that did cause Devyn's growling to stop and for her to start to relax a little. It didn't seem like Rae was here to do any harm and her behavior was a little different. Then again it had been a while since they had been around one another so she could have easily forgotten a few things. "Yeah..." Devyn said simply, still words not fully coming to her yet. There was so much she wanted to say, but talking has never really been something she was good at. She was good with actions, yet talking and actions seemed to only dig her into deeper holes within her depression.
Devyn remained silent for a moment as Rae said that she was back and going to college, so Devyn had made the right guess. She figured Rae would end up going to college at some point but didn't think she would ever come back to BA to do it. "Is it that dream one bedroom apartment you used to say you were going to get?" Devyn asked as she could not help but to recall when Rae used to talk about how she could not wait until she was eighteen years old so she could move off the school grounds and get a place of her own. Get away from all the fools at the school, as Rae put it from time to time. Eyes were looking into hers then and Devyn could not help but to look down at the ground, feeling her heartbeat change up on her a little.
"Welcome back Raegan...it’s good that you have been well…alive this whole time." Devyn said, scratching at her head a little, feeling like that was half way stupid to say. Again, she was bad with words.

The growling, it was somewhat new to her. Only new because Rae was rarely on the opposite side of that beautiful but territorial sound that came out of Devyn. Now that the tables had turned, it would seem as if she was the one trying to harm Devyn and that wasn't the case. She wanted nothing more than to meet up with her ex after such a long while, to see how she was doing, and to show that she had thought about her dark pup after all of this time. Life just made it difficult, it was all about getting to where she wanted to be and surviving but now that she was settled... why not reappear from the shadows?
She leaned her back against the tree, she chuckled as her gaze lifted towards the sky. "Not yet, I'm sure after I add a few more touches it should be. There's not one cigarette burn in the carpet, that has to change." Looking back to her level, she turned her head to look at Devyn, "Thanks. I'd expect you to be the last person to welcome me but oh how wrong was I, eh?" She shifted, now closer to Devyn as she leaned against the tree with her shoulder. Tilting her head, her hazel eyes studied Devyn's face.
"How have you been?" A question she did not know the answer to but even if she did, anything could have changed with Devyn. She could even sense it, her dark pup had become darker, as if it took twice the amount of shadows to fill that body of Devyn's. It would soon become a crave within Raegan to know exactly what it was.

Devyn used to only growl at Raegan for other reasons, the ones that were more so for desire and want that would slip out of her. Other times it was growling at anyone who had ever gotten to close to Raegan. Any look, word, or even getting to close in a way that made Devyn feel like someone was making a move on Rae had been enough to make Devyn growl and step in if she was around. She certainly had been possessive of the older girl back when they were going out but Raegan was just as possessive at times. Devyn had done so much, learned so much, and experience so much because of the girl that was not right in front of her after what was possibly two years since they last talked to one another. She certainly didn’t forget about Rae and she often thought about the girl whenever she ended up in a relationship. Trying to be better and not make the same mistakes so she would not get hurt, yet that clearly had not worked out so well.
Devyn still held her ground, even as Rae remained close, and Devyn's sense felt like they were going crazy. The other girl’s scent just made Devyn's other sense tempted to also get that sense of remembrance of Rae. To want to touch and taste since her other sense were already getting to see, smell, and hear Rae. Devyn could not help but to let out a soft but quick chuckle at Rae pointing out that it was missing cigarette burns in the carpet. "I'm sure someone can wind up on the floor with you while you are in the middle of a smoke." Devyn pointed out; remember yet something else she and Rae had done. She looked at Rae for a moment before her eyes drifted away when she could see and practically feel Rae looking at her closely. "You did tell me to meet you out here...plus just because things end bad...does not mean I want you dead or anything." Devyn said after a moment, her words were still low and soft spoken.
Still not fully trusting the words that were leaving her mouth and unsure if she should even say anything at all. How had seen been? Devyn almost didn't want to answer the question. "Well...I was doing pretty good for a while...but recently stuff has been...well let’s just say you would not really want to be around me for long. It likely stress you out." Devyn pointed out, a hint of slight anger in her words as she moved away a little. "Why did...why did you call me out here?" Devyn asked, unable to help getting to the point because she still felt like something was up.

She had certainly expected Devyn to step away from her once she grew close but to her surprise, she didn't and it was neither a good or bad thing to Rae, she didn't mind it either way. It just allowed her to know what moves to make next around Devyn. Playing her turn based off of Devyn's reactions. It was the only way she would prosper out of this meeting. Glancing at Devyn, she chuckled. "Yeah."
Tilting her head, she gave Devyn a soft smile. "Well, I'd hope you didn't want me dead. Not yet, at least." She hadn't hoped that she would give Devyn a reason to want her dead but she wasn't too entirely sure how that mind of hers worked.
Listening in on Devyn's words, she felt against her back pockets making sure that her pack and lighter were still there. Having to lose them had to be like the worst thing imaginable. "I think I could handle it. After two years, you kinda get thicker skin, especially going through what I've went through but knowing you, I'm sure you'll be able to get through it."
When she asked her exactly why she called her out here, she smirked. "Isn't it obvious? I missed you and wanted to say hi. I'd hope you missed me too." Her eyes danced over Devyn's face. "But I'm sure you're probably busy with school and tired, probably even have a cute little girlfriend or boyfriend back at the school to get back to."
Post by Devyn Solway on Oct 23, 2014 21:27:31 GMT -6
Devyn wanted to step away, but at the same time she didn't. She still was in the need of physical contact and while the friends she had around been allowing her to get some hugs in, nothing had been that long of a hug or touch that she needed. That desire to have someone in her arms for at least a half hour was strong in her after not having it met after two months or perhaps more. Devyn had stopped keeping count because keeping count just reminded her of everything that caused her pain. She gave a simple nod to Rae's word of agreement with what she said. There was that head tilt again with that soft smile still on her lips. All of it did help to ease Devyn's mood quite a bit, not helped by the fact that she was around someone that she had previously loved.
The thing with Devyn was, once she loved someone she never really fully stopped loving them, so of course there were feeling for Rae still. Feelings that she was trying to ignore because she really didn't want another plate of drama to deal with when she was still working on dealing with the first helping of it. "Unless you killed someone that I cared about, I would never want you dead." Devyn pointed out, being flat out honest. She might have been hurt by the girl, had some level of hatred, anger, and pain but even still she did not want her dead. She didn't want Zoe dead and she didn't want her ex-boyfriend dead. Devyn looked at Rae in silence for a moment as the older girl said she figured she could handle it. It was true time changed people to a certain level...so perhaps Rae could deal with the drama that before she wanted nothing to deal with.
"...I hope so..." Devyn said her voice even lower than last time, practically a whisper now. She didn't actually want to talk about it or even think about it. The words that came out of Rae's mouth next had Devyn practically giving herself splinters with how hard she was gripping the tree. Don't...don't say things like that as if nothing happened two years ago. Devyn thought to herself as she started to play with her father's ring on her finger. "My girlfriend actually broke up with me." Devyn admitted as she moved closer to Rae, only to reach into the other girl's back pocket to pull out a cigarette and the lighter. She knew that Rae tended to keep them in her pockets or her bra. Thankfully they were in her back pocket so it was less awkward of a reach, but it did require Devyn to get pretty close.
She had broken the habit of smoking, but tended to fall back into it with a lot of stress. Talk about Zoe with her very first love had stress written all over it, so she needed a smoke. "I did...miss you, that is." Devyn said as she lit her cigarette and took a drag off of it, blowing the smoke off to the side after.

"I'll keep that in mind." She grinned. Not that she was the type to kill anyone, she wouldn't unless she absolutely had to when her life was in danger. If her powers ever got out of control, then that was a different story, now wasn't it? Had the hurt Raegan put on Devyn once upon a time been intentional? Not exactly. She had never meant to hurt Devyn the way she did. Rae knew how emotional Devyn could get without showing it and even so, she had left her for her own selfish reasons for not wanting to have to deal with Devyn's issues. Did she regret it? No and that was only because it made the both of them stronger.
Oh? So she had been in a relationship and got dumped? For some reason, she wasn't entirely surprised. She chuckled, finding it humorous when she knew she shouldn't have. The girl was probably heart broken. You know how High School love goes? You fall in love, get cheated on or get dumped and have your heart broken into millions of pieces. Only to swore never to love again but fuck someone new the next day. "What did you do? Cheat on her?" She simply stood still when Devyn moved closer to get at her cigs and lighter. Without saying much of anything, she took in the girl's familiar scent as she smirked. She wasn't too bothered by it.
"That's always assuring to know, I was expecting you to say something different."

Devyn just gave a simple nod when Raegan said she would keep the whole 'don’t kill anyone important to me and I won't want you dead' bit. It was simple, but it included not hurting anyone important to her in anyway shape or form. Unless she had asked someone to hurt someone for her, but Devyn was not really the type to get others to do her 'dirty work'. She was fine doing it all on her own like she pretty much did everything in her life. Even if Rae had not meant to hurt her as badly as she did, it still happened. Yes, Devyn got better for it but only to a certain degree and she clearly had still not fully let go of that pain. How could you when someone that you had loved broke up with you because they could not handle how unstable you became.
When the only other person in the world that you thought loved you, left you because your father died and your world came crashing down...they left. So yeah, Devyn was hurt but she seemed destined to end up being hurt. One would think she would have gotten used to it by now, but she had only gotten used to the fact that she would lose control and just hurt for a while. Devyn let out a growl when Rae laughed at her, but she should have expected it. It still angered her, and her green eyes even went a little darker as the shadows around them moved a little. "Don't. Laugh." Devyn practically ordered, but her volume was still low. She was tempted to blow some smoke in Rae's face but instead just blew out a ring of smoke.
She shifted then, leaning with her back against the tree as she looked at her hand that had become a little red from her grip on the tree. "Not technically. We were in an open relationship...she even agreed to it yet apparently sleeping with someone the morning after prom is enough to make someone break up with you weeks after it happened..." Devyn said the anger and hurt still there as she could not stop growling for a moment. It was just so stupid; she honestly should stop caring because it just didn't even make any sense why she was broken up with in the first place. She technically didn't do anything wrong, just bad timing apparently. Devyn let out a half chuckle at Rae's words before taking another drag off her cigarette. "Clearly you underestimated just how much I cared about you." Devyn responded back as she looked up at the sky, blowing out several more rings of smoke.

She hadn't expected Devyn to get so touchy by her laughing, so maybe the situation was much more serious than she expected? Sad, really. Raegan was hoping that Devyn had gotten past letting such high school children play with her emotions like that but then again at one point, Raegan had been on that same boat. Narrowing her eyes at Devyn, she smirked slightly. "OoOo must be a touchy subject, huh?" It sort of amused her, they way she see those beautiful green eyes grow darker, the way she could sense the shadows twitching from the slight emotion of the subject at hand. Was it bad that she missed prodding at Devyn like that?
"An open relationship?" She raised a brow, "Well that's what you get for dating a child. So sad to hear, really." She clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth, "Tell me something, if it was such an open relationship, why get so hung over about it? I'm sure you can fuck and be with as many people now as you would have with her." She continued to prod at her ex and not just for amusement but to see how important this ex of hers had been.
"I always underestimate. It gives me a reason to act surprised when I'm wrong."

Devyn was a high schooler. Yes she was now a Senior so in the last year of her high school days, but she was still one. Seventeen years old, stronger, and taller than when she had last been going out with Rae, but she still had those darn hormones to deal with. Those that she thought she had a handle on and that she was not going to fall in love with anyone after things didn't work out the second time. She figured dating older people allowed you to avoid the high school drama and pain, but it didn't. The smirk that appeared on Rae's face just made Devyn growl more. Knew this was a bad idea. Devyn thought to herself, knowing she should have known better than to talk about anything involving a relationship with Rae of all people. "I'm not fourteen anymore Rae, I'm stronger then I was before." Devyn pointed out; there was a hint at a threat there.
Rae was already starting to walk on ice now and Devyn felt the anger growing within her. It was an open relationship, because Devyn had gotten used to sleeping around and because of Zoe's power. It just made things easier and she didn't plan on it staying like that forever and it didn't, but by then it already seem too late for Zoe. The growling became a snarl when Rae called Zoe a child. "Don't." Devyn warned, she just didn't want to hear anything about Zoe, good or bad at the moment. She wanted a subject change and one slightly came up, but not one she really wanted to talk about. Taking the last drag off the cigarette she put the rest out by crushing it against the bark of the tree and letting the butt fall to the forest floor. "Because I love her. Just like I love you and my Ex-Boyfriend, but you would not really understand that now would you? It’s such a foreign word to you by now, I bet." Devyn said as she clinched her fist.
She wanted to punch Rae, but instead just hit the bark of the tree right next to Rae's head. Her green eyes in such a dark green state that they practically looked like they were as black as the shadows that were pulling towards Devyn. Yet with a deep breath they returned to their normal state, and Devyn turned to put some space between her and Rae. "I should not have come. I should have known you would have been like this." Devyn said out loud, mostly talking to herself as she worked on keeping herself under control. Having been so unstable of late she seemed to lose herself to her power quicker than normal and she didn't want that.

Raising both brows, she could hear that slight hint at a threat which made Raegan even more amused. "Oh?" She asked in a taunting tone. She could surely see how much more of an adult Devyn became since the last time they laid eyes on each other. She was becoming more of an adult, maybe more matured, maybe, she couldn't really tell but she could sense it. It seemed as if she wasn't the type to play games anymore and even though that made Rae a bit sad, she'd enjoy this side of Devyn so much more. There was a lot that had changed with Raegan too, not only was she even more unstable than she was before, she kind of embraced it. She allowed herself to be grittier, darker even and care less about others so she didn't hurt herself in the process.
And she was no longer afraid.
Biting against her bottom lip, she gave Devyn an expression filled with false innocence. As if she didn't know exactly what she was igniting; But of course! She knew exactly what she was doing and it was working. The way she growled at her and even continued to threaten Raegan, it was all just so tempting. Pressing her lips together, she glanced down at the ground with a smile before looking back up at Devyn. "And that's your problem, right there. You can't keep letting yourself fall in love with everyone you date, Devyn." Tilting her head, she smiled softly, "It only leads to heartbreak and locking yourself in that dark place and when you're there, whose going to pull you out? It won't be any of those fuckers; Maybe me, but I kinda like it in there..."
She made an uneasy face, "I rather keep that L word overseas for now. It get's contagious." Her eyes glanced over at a shadow being pulled as Devyn let her anger out on the tree itself. Glancing back at Devyn, she noticed the change in her eyes but had went back to normal. "Now, now." She whispered, in almost a warning. Had Devyn lost control, Raegan would have probably enjoyed it but more so would enjoyed more of taming Devyn if she had to. It was amazing how much control Devyn had over herself. Had she missed that much? Pushing herself off of the tree, she simply stood there.
"You know you shouldn't... but you did and that will always be your downfall; Self-control. Besides, unlike the rest of them, I will always love you no matter what and I wanted to make sure you knew that by the time you left here." Raegan smiled, "By the way, thanks for the welcome."
