Jason was from Kalispell so of course he heard everything possible about the Winter Mansion. Not that he believed in all those murders, mysterious deaths and ghosts haunting the place. His rational mind could not accept it. He was pretty sure the truth was closer to the family no longer able to pay and with no one to take care of the place for years, it fell apart. Of course, people didn't care about logic, imagination was a lot more interesting. As far as he knew, the amount of deaths related to the place was highly exaggerated. And since it became somewhat of a tradition for several teenagers to test their courage going in there, he doubted it was as dangerous as they thought.
So, of course, when he got a call to head there because of an emergency, he didn’t think it was some curse that was in play, more a student who lost control of their power because of the fear and rush of adrenaline. The school was really the only establishment that would call him instead of an ambulance. He understood why and for this reason, he left immediately for the Winter Mansion. It wasn’t like he had anything else to do. He planned on working on his research while letting his television play one horror movie after the other, since that was the tradition at this time of the year. It was no schedule he was sad to disrupt.
When he arrived at the place, he saw no commotion. He forgot to ask where exactly the emergency was. He pulled out his phone to call back when he realised the sender was anonymous. He didn't take the time to check, when he was told to get here for an emergency, he figured it was the school who called. Who else would call him? For a second, he wondered if his cell phone number might have been given to some students or staff members. He then checked the house. Could it be...? No way, that was ridiculous. Sighing heavily out of frustration, he was tempted to go back to his car and leave but there might be a real emergency here. He decided to walk around the property first but he saw no one outside. He walked towards the door and opened it. “Anyone here?” he called out. He didn't care if that would scare away some students, at least one might run his way and be able to answer him, right?
