NAME: Dominique Renée Winters
NICKNAME: Dom
AGE: 17, October 18th, 1997
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Demisexual
POSITION: Bellefonte Student
FACE CLAIM: Barbara Palvin
POWER: Paralysis Inducement
Dom has the ability to render organisms immobile. By touching someone, she can immobilize them completely or partially, which causes them to be left without movement and sensation; They can still see, hear and smell, but if someone were to touch them, they wouldn't be able to feel it; Kind of like having a bodypart falling asleep. They will feel a tingling sensation, but the ability works fast, so their body parts would be rendered immobilized within seconds to minutes.
Her ability is stronger coming from her hands, so if someone touches her face, it will take much longer for the effects of her ability to set in. Her hands works through seconds to minutes, while anything beside her hands can take several seconds.
Basically, what she does is make motor functions and muscle movements unavailable through paralyzing the nerves that grants the ability to move; They can still breathe, see, smell and hear, but will not be able to let's say, move their body, lift an arm, wiggle their toes, etc. When this sets in, the person the power is used on will either freeze on the spot or crumple to the ground.
LIMITATIONS:
- The effects will wear off eventually; The smaller the body part, the longer it'll be effected, but if used on the entire body, it will last all from fifteen minutes to an hour, depending on how long Dom has touched them.
- Dom has very little control over her ability; This doesn't mean she paralyses everyone she touches, but that is a possibility. It happens more often when her emotions are out of control, especially if she's scared, mad or sad.
- She needs to actually touch someone in order for her ability to work, and the ability generally only paralyses the body part she's touching, but if she holds on for longer, it can spread. This works differently from person to person.
- The ability only works with skin to skin contact, which means that it won't work through clothing.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- Headaches that can develop into migraines and then nosebleeds until finally, she has a chance of passing out.
- Whenever she uses her ability, it drains her energy, which can leave her both physically and mentally exhausted.
- Other side-effects are insomnia, muscle pains, restlessness and stomach aches.
Late October, 2014A girl with light brown hair and full lips sits in a chair, fidgeting with her sleeve as her blue eyes darts back and forth. She looks nervous. Everything about her screams nervous.
"Dominique Winters," a voice calls from a closed door. She stands up, straightening out the frills of her shirt, her fingers curving over her slim, tall body. She takes a deep breath, her eyes darting up and down the hall once more before she takes a few unsteady steps towards the door.
"H-headmaster Keller," she greets the man sitting behind the desk. She attempts to put on a polite smile, but the way her lip trembles, it looks awkward. As does her movements. Everything about the way she glides over the floor with little grace gives off just how nervous she is. The headmaster smiles, or tries to. "Please sit down," he tells her, gesturing towards an empty chair in front of the desk.
She sits down, folding her hands in her lap. Squeezing her thighs over them, she lets her blue eyes wander over the room. "Do you know why you're here?" the headmaster asks. Her eyes snaps back to him and she nods slightly. "It's uhm, about... What happened in class?" she suggests, her voice meek. The headmaster nods. "Look, I can expla-- OK, so I can't really explain it... I mean, it's not like I uh, I didn't do it on purpose--" she begins, but stops when the headmasters holds up his hand.
"You don't need to explain; We know what happened," the headmaster says, and the girl furrows her brows, looking absolutely confused. He clears his throat as he rises to his feet, nodding towards the door as it opens and a woman steps in. She's young, perhaps only a few years older than the girl sitting in the chair.
"Considering how you're under eighteen, we need to inform your parents about the incident, but this woman is from a school; A school that can help you with your gift." He smiles down at the girl and she looks from the headmaster to the woman. "My... gift?" she asks, and turns as the woman steps closer, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder.
"What happened in class, when you touched that girl... That was you paralysing her." The woman smiles down at the girl who looks up at her wide wide, blue eyes. She doesn't respond though; She looks like she's trying to process everything. "You're a mutant, Miss Winters; We know this is a lot to take in, but your teacher is a former student of ours and after the... incident, he called us and told us there was a newly manifested student in his class, and we took the first flight over."
"I'm...a what?" the girl stutters as she looks from the woman to the headmaster. "I don't understand." The woman and the headmaster exchanges a look. "It's complicated, but don't worry. We've called your parents, and as soon as they arrive, we'll explain everything."
Standing outside the academy, the girl from the headmaster's office shuffles awkwardly as she fidgets with the sleeve of her wool coat. Next to her stands a single suitcase, most likely containing clothes and personal belongings. She bites her lower lip as she takes a deep breath. Finally, she steps forward, up the staircase, into the school and over to the information desk. The recruiter, the woman she met only a few days before comes up to stand next to her.
"Dominique Winters; Newly manifested," she says to the receptionist behind the counter and turns to offer the blue eyes girl a smile. "She just arrived from Nome, Alaska," she adds with another smile. The receptionists nods and starts typing something into the computer in front of her.
A few minutes of silence passes and is finally broken by the sound of shuffling papers. Handing a bundle of them over, the receptionist smiles, "Welcome to Bellefonte Academy, Miss Winters; Here's most of the information you need, including your dorm, your class list and everything else."
"T-thank you," the girl mutters and lifts her hand to awkwardly scratch the side of her jaw. The recruiter gives her shoulder a pat, and the girl stiffens under the touch. "I'll leave you to your venturing from here; Don't look so scared, Miss Winters. You'll do fine."
"Yeah, uhm.. T-thanks again."
