It was easy to soar up high. To imagine yourself lifting off into the sky, floating above the clouds and the rush of furious winds rustling in your hair. To shake hands with the rulers of the sky and watch the world under you, a dazzling scene of lush green and blinding blue. It was easy, if one had the imagination and the willpower. That is why Man had made planes, the dratted noisy things. Man had the desire to fly, but chose to ignore the consequences of their achievements.
And he hated them for it.
He hated their nonchalance, their carelessness and their arrogance. But who was he to stop them? Right. I'm a mutant with mastery of nature. Riiiiight. Casper lay on his back and smiled, soaking up the moonlight on his face and stretching to remove the kinks in his bones. The night air around him felt crisp and cool. It was mid-February after all. He needed the fresh air to thrive. It energized him, running from his nostrils and into his bloodstream, giving him a tingly feeling in his cheeks. He rolled over onto his face and took in the rich smell of earth, familiarizing himself with the location.
Ever since he had come here two weeks ago, Casper focused on getting settled into his position as a member of staff. He was grateful for them taking him in and allowing him an opportunity to train both himself and the others around him. So far, he had learned the hard way that he had no control whatsoever over the beasts that roamed the land. It was comical, the way he had headed courageously into the forest surrounding the school, only to come back out with several bite marks and a hole in his pants. It was more than slightly disappointing, but he could live with it.
Casper Hall, master florist. Yeesh. He sighed and flipped over onto his back again to stare at the endless mystery that was the starry sky, wondering if he should go clean all the rubbish up from around the Academy and dump it in people's houses. Or lay here and enjoy the night. Either way, it felt as if nothing could possibly interrupt the serenity.
