Lily was spending his first afternoon off in a long while at the park. Granted he'd considered going somewhere for lunch or treating himself at the book store, but apparently no matter where he went he was unable to resist the desire to play outside. He was such a little kid. Though at that point, sprawled out over a park bench and wishing he had some food for the insistent pigeons by his feet, Lily felt more like an old man. "You've already had my sandwich, I've got no more." He attempted to apologize, waving his hand in regretted dismissal.
Briefly he considered trying to summon up some ungodly pigeon-communication power to send them away. Unfortunately, as he was reminded nearly every day, he wasn't a mutant like the kids he worked with. It didn't make him feel inadequate at all, though he could easily admit to feeling under-prepared in most of the interactions he shared with them. It was why Lily had resolved to find his own strengths, so he didn't have to be 'That one human everyone enjoys beating up', since it seemed like that was the likely result if things ever got nasty again.
With a sigh of surrender, Lily crossed both his arms over his eyes, hoping the 'Don't see it, it don't exist' method would work in this scenario. All he could hope was that pigeons didn't turn carnivorous when deprived of wheat bread.

Tamara remembered how, back in Romania where she studied, she used to feel squeezed by the walls of Saint Cadou and hoped for a way out. She had been one of those students who couldn’t wait t get out as they dreamed of large spaces and liberty. Strange then that she made all her way to America only to land in Bellefonte. Even more, that she lived there, like the student she used to be, and checked on all of them, trying to prevent the kids to do the stupid things she did back then. Maybe it was why, every now and then, she felt the urge to get the hell out of there.
Mind you, she loved her job, and she found staying at school to be far more logical. If there was an emergency and some staff members were required in the dorms at night, she preferred to be there as she grew territorial of the south wing. It was her domain and her job to keep the students safe in it. That didn’t change the fact she longed for her day off so she could go to Kalispell and enjoy some time out.
She didn’t think she’d meet another staff member when she left today. It was possible of course, but she didn’t feel like that many of them felt the same need of freedom as she did. Besides, it was not the evening, no one was out t have a drink and flirt with some stranger at this hour.
She grabbed a sandwich that she finished by now but she chose to finish her latte as she wandered around. The cafe she stopped by wasn’t too far from the park and so her feet brought her there. She actually loved the outdoors, despite how much of a city girl she may look. She grew up in a village with farms all around, nature always spoke to her. It was natural that her steps would take her there.
And she saw someone from school. She wasn’t sure at first as she mostly saw the man from afar. He had a room in the staff dorms, it was why she’d seen him before. But she never talked all that much to him. She was certain to know what his job was but, of course, she couldn’t recall right now. She did find it weird that he placed his arms over his eyes and it was what got her to come over. “Everything alright?”

The appearance of a voice hanging over his head coaxed Lily to drop his arms from his face. He took a moment to blink away the black spots dancing in his vision before sitting up. Turning, he faced the woman, mildly surprised when he recognized her. Not by name unfortunately, but he was quite sure he'd seen her before. Since he rarely left the academy grounds, it stood to reason that was where he knew her from.
Remembering what had originally drawn his attention, Lily hurried to assure the woman with a smile. "Fine and dandy, don't you worry." Nodding, almost to himself, Lily raised himself on the chair to better face the woman. "If I was any inconvenience to your day, taking you out of your way to check on me, I sincerely apologize." He stressed the words regretfully, awkwardly grinning. He was unsure how to deal with the situation any other way. Since he really had been fine and simply relaxing, he automatically felt guilty about having worried or even made curious the women at all. It almost made him wish that something truly had been wrong.
Lily's gaze turned pondering as he instinctively tried to turn the situation away from what he couldn't handle. "I swear I know your face. Forgive me for asking, but what is your name?"

Tamara was actually very surprised about the way the man talking. No one talked like that or at least no one was so articulate around Tam. Of course, the fact that the one with the best language amongst her acquaintances had to be a grumpy dwarf might be the reason for it but she was certain no one was that polite anymore. Class was a fading virtue, one that Tamara probably did not possess much. In front of this man who apologize for maybe being an inconvenience to her because she wondered if he was alright she felt slightly out of place. She looked down at her cleavage. She loved V-necks but suddenly felt like she was showing too much.
Tamara however was not one to let any situation get the best out of her and immediately bounced back on her feet and smiled to the man. “Oh, it was no inconvenience at all. I was just wondering but if you say you’re fine, then I’ll just go,” she said. Tamara was actually making her turn so she could walk away and leave him to... whatever got him to cover his eyes like that. Maybe he just ended up with the sun in his face. No, that was ridiculous, it wouldn’t hit him that way. Oh well, he was free to do whatever he wanted. It wasn’t like her opinion would matter.
She didn't make one step away though that he talked again and had her stop and turn her face back towards him. She had a little smirk at his words. “That’s probably because you know my face. From work. I’m Tamara Sulik, but it’s okay if you couldn’t quite remember me. I’m the dorm monitor, we probably just ran into each other without really talking,” she told him, extending her hand to shake his as she said her name. It was frustrating sometimes that people didn't seem to bother learning her name and referred to her only with her job position. Then again, she didn’t really know his name. Not like she would admit it.
