NAME: Hunter Dominic Vause
NICKNAME: Hunt, Dom
AGE: 21
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Pansexual
POSITION: Local - Musician
FACE CLAIM: Max Schneider
POWER: Power Augmentation
Hunter has the ability to enhance and weaken the powers of other mutants. Basically, what his ability allows him to do is by choice, and by focusing, and preferably touching, either weaken or strengthen someone's ability.
Limitations:
- He can only use this ability inside the radius of max 30 feet, but it works better the closer he is to said mutant or actually touching them. He can also only use his ability effectively on three people at the same time, though this will drain his energy much faster than if he used it on one. If he pushes the number, his ability might get spotty, which means that it might or might not work, and he might lose control in a sense where he either weakens or enhances too much/too little.
- He cannot steal, borrow or give away someone's powers, and only make them stronger or weaker, as long as it is within their capability, which means that he cannot enhance a weather manipulator to the point where they create a hurricane that destroys the entire world. If they're not capable - or will be capable of doing something, he cannot push their powers beyond that limit. He can however push people to a limit where they lose control, though, this rarely lasts for long as it drains his own energy, as well as theirs. He can use this ability one one person for two hours (without stopping) before his energy runs out, but this doesn't mean he can use it for two hours without a series of severe side-effects kicking in. The more people, the less amount of time.
- This does not mean the person whose power he enhances automatically achieves better control, as he cannot better their skills by using his own power. The effects of his power only lasts for as long as he's actively enhancing or weakening their abilities. The second he stops or loses focus, the effects vanishes.
- His ability doesn't work on people with the same ability as him. This would be pointless either way, but he's learned that he cannot better someone elses augmentation.
Side-Effects:
- Energy drainage; The more he uses his ability, the more tired he'll get and the weaker his ability will become.
- Headaches; These often come from actively using his ability, and prolonged usage can result into migraines that can develop into nausea, throwing up and internal and external bleeding.
- When not using his ability, he often feels restless and over-energized, which will last until he uses his ability. It's give and take kind of power; By not using it, he stores up a lot of energy, and from using it, he uses said energy. He needs to balance the two of them out in order to reach a normal energized state of mind.
"Sitting here with Kalispell's very own rising star, Hunter Dominic Vause, we have finally managed to get the busy twenty-one year old to agree to do a interview with us. Hunter Vause started playing music from an early age and has under several circumstances claimed that this is something he has always loved and been interested in. Between singing, school and having a social life, it's easy to assume that the young man has been rather busy during the past few years. Graduating only three years ago, Hunter Vause decided to focus solely on his music," the reported breathed as she turned to look at the young male with dark brown hair, brown eyes that seemed to be on the verge of black and a slim, yet masculine build. Standing 5'8 feet above ground, the young man offered the woman something of a sheepish grin.
"You know, I'll never get used to that." He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly.
"The camera? Just pretend it isn't there," the reporter shrugs. "You were a student at the Bellef--" she stops as Hunter moves awkwardly. "--the local school here in Kalispell," she corrects herself. It's no secret that mutants should be kept under wraps, which the reporter have all but forgotten in her excitement. "I was a few years over you," she informs him. He nods at that. "When did you... Arrive at the school?" she asks quizzically.
"I was thirteen. Got picked up by some of the teachers only a few days after..." He furrows his brows and shakes his head, clearly referring to his manifestation. "My parents told me that they had all attended there before me, so they kind of knew it was my... Best option for a proper education." He runs a hand along the line of his olive skinned jaw. The reporter nods.
She looks back at the young man. "You have quite the unusual... gift. How did.. they find out... That you fit for that school?"
Hunter smiles. "Uhm.. I guess they just sensed it? The gift I have.. It doesn't give off a whole lot of signs, you know? They just popped up one day and a rec-- teacher showed up. Kind of... Cool."
"You started growing interested in music before that, right? Like, have you always known it was something you wanted to do, or...?" she asks as an attempt to turn the conversation's topic over to something else, something she can actually use.
"Yeah, I think I started singing when I was five. You know, singing in the shower and while taking baths. My parents used to film it, much to my disdain." They both laugh at that. "I didn't take it seriously until I turned about fifteen or so, though." He nods a few times before licking his lower lip.
"And now you're fairly popular too, in the world of music." He nods. "Do you love it?" He nods again. "Do you want to do this your entire life?"
"I don't know about that," Hunter Vause laughs. "I will do it for as long as it's still fun." The reporter nods. "That's what counts in the end. I'm doing this for myself, not because of the money or the fame, but because of... Well, because I love it."
"Now, the question we all want the answer to, because it's no secret that you keep your private life hidden... Is there a girl... or boy in sight?" She bats her eyelashes innocently at him.
Smiling sheepishly, Hunter leans forward and laughs. Folding his hands in his lap, he sighs, "I do keep it very secret, yes, because... Well, it's easier that way. I'm still so young and I still need to figure out a lot of things." He shrugs.
"You didn't answer my question though." He laughs again.
"I'm married to my music." He leaves it at that. The reporter nods. He obviously doesn't like discussing his personal affairs so openly.
"Have you ever had someone recognize you on the street? If so... How is it? Like, what does it feel like?" the reporter asks.
"Well... It's kind of... Weird. I mean, I love that I have fans and that they appreciate my music, but it's something I've yet to get used to. This one time, I had to lock myself inside a public restroom because there was this group of fangirls that wouldn't leave me alone," he laughs, "But it's just one of those things that come with the profession. Whereas I had never imagined I'd get to this point, I have very few regrets."
The reporter nods. "You seem like a very easy going guy though. Do anyone ever take advantage of that?"
"Sometimes. But all in all, I've been very blessed."
"I can see why." They both laugh. "What is your relationship with your parents? I know your dad is a songwriter, but that he doesn't sing himself and your mom, she's your manager? You all work together?" He nods. "And your siblings?"
"My family and I work well together. We have a very open and comfortable relationship, which also include my two younger siblings, my sister and my brother." He smiled warmly as he talks about them. "It was actually my sister that pushed me to become who I am today. I owe it all to her. Out of them all, she is probably my biggest supporter and I can talk to her about everything. It's amazing."
"You have chosen to keep their names hidden. Is that to protect them?"
"Yeah, if they want people to know, it's their choice to out themselves. I can't decide that for them."
"Well.. That's very admirable of you," she smiles.
Shifting his position, Hunter leans back into the chair, tossing a glance towards the clock. "Anything else?" he asks with a polite smile. He has somewhere he needs to be. That much is obvious. The reporter shakes her head, clearly disappointed. "Alright, well..." He smiled and reaches out his hand. "It was a pleasure," he nods.
"Pleasure was all mine, Mr. Vause."
"Please, call me Hunter."
