POWER:
Phasing
So like...it's pretty cool what I can do! Have you ever walked into a pane of glass because you thought it was open? Wellllll, with my power I never have to worry about that stuff! Haha! Basically my power is me being able to walk through walls, doors, glass...almost anything! Dude, you don't even know how handy it is. It's pretty great not having to wait for people to get out my way for stuff, I just...take a shortcut through a wall or something. When it comes to actually using my power, I dunno man. It's a strange feeling, it's almost like...ghostly in a way. I can't really feel anything when I'm going through it, but then again it kinda feels like trying to walk in a swimming pool. It's hard to explain. It's not like just normal walking, you have to push a bit harder to make it make it through. Phasing is something you gotta focus on before running face first towards a wall...or else you're gunna fall on your ass.
Limitations
Eh, limitations suck...but I guess we all have them right? I can walk through walls and all that pretty easily, it's not all that difficult. Though what is difficult is trying to walk through solid stone or brick. I don't really know what it is but for some reason I can't get through it. I've tried and tried but the furthest I can do is a few inches, I don't know what it is...maybe something to do with the molecules. Hell, how am I supposed to know!? I'm not a scientist!
Oh! Water too! I can't phase through water...that just doesn't work at all. No matter how hard I try whenever I try I always end up soaking wet.
I tried bringing a friend through a wall once, they pretty much just bashed their face against the surface, so apparently Im the only person my power works on.
One of the worst limitations is that I have to hold my breath while doing it, I literally cannot breathe while phasing through something. It's not all that difficult because most walls are thin enough where I can walk through them in seconds, but I just fear the day when it's not just a few seconds...when it's minute after minute. Honestly, I don't know if I'd survive.
Side-Effects
Dude, if limitations suck then the side effects are hell. Feeling your body turn solid again after phasing isn't one of the most comfortable things in the world, I'll tell you that. It's nearly like a fire in your whole body, luckily it only lasts a few moments but god damn...those moments are miserable. That plus the disorientation, exhaustion, and brain numbing headaches that can come with it sometimes, ugh. Like I mentioned before, I have to hold my breath which I suppose would be a side effect as well. Though it hasn't happened yet, I'm really worried about getting stuck. What happens if one day I'm halfway through a surface and then boom, I'm just stuck. Shit...that scares me more than anything really because I'm pretty sure I might actually die from that. It hasn't happened yet...and hopefully never will.
But hey, if that's the price of my powers then I'll deal with them.
So you wanna know about my life, huh? It's not all that exciting or anything but hey, if you wanna know then I'll tell you. My mom and dad met when they were young...like nineteen or twenty...something like that. They met at college, Berkeley in California, and have been together ever since. I guess you've gathered by that information that I'm from California. Dude, Cali is the best. I kinda hate that I had to move and come to this school but hey, it was for the best I suppose.
Anyway, back to my childhood. I was the third child, which was awesome because I was the "baby" and got everything I wanted! My brother and sister are pretty cool I guess. Stephen is twenty three and Callie is eighteen. Steve is about to graduate college and Callie just graduated Highschool. I kinda wanted to graduate from the same school they did...but seeing as they don't have powers and I do...yeah that won't be happening.
Ummm, what else? I mean, I had a pretty ordinary life I guess. Nothing too great or too miserable happened in it. We're like an upper middle class family I guess, so we we're never really hurting for money. I went to a nice school and had some awesome friends. My two best friends were Tyler and J.J. Man, we used to do everything together. It was awesome. I kinda miss them a lot, I still talk to Tyler some but the distance can really hurt a friendship. It sucks but what can you do?
When it comes to my love life, I've been...open to trying new things I guess is a good way to put it. I've had a few girlfriends and one boyfriend. Gender never really bothered me much really, it's just about who you like...not what's between their legs. Not like I've actually done anything other than like...make out. I've still got that "V card" but I'm not trying to get rid of it anytime soon. I kinda like it, because I get to choose who will get to take it...and I'm kinda picky.
People have described me as "chill" a lot. I dunno, I guess I just have that sort of personality. I don't get angry really, no point in it. Why fight when you can just hang out and watch movies or something? It just seems like an awful waste of time. I'd like to think I'm pretty funny, at least people laugh at what I say...I guess that's a good thing.
Oh right, how I ended up at Bellefonte. As I mentioned before, my power is phasing through stuff, right? Well, when I was fifteen I found that out the hard way. Dude, it was crazy, one minute I was sleeping in my bed(which is upstairs) and the next minute I had somehow ended up falling through my bed and the floor! I ended up on the kitchen table with my dad just staring at me like I was some sort of alien or something! I can't really blame him though, I probably would have done the same thing. Luckily enough, one of his really good friends has powers(don't even ask me how that conversation between them came up) so my dad asked the guy what to do. Bellefonte Academy was the answer. Apparently it's where that dude went to learn how to control his powers, I think they're like fire based or something. Guess that doesn't really matter to my story though, anyway, so yeah...my dad did a little research on the school and talked to my mom and eventually one of the recruiters and boom. I started at Bellefonte one year ago. It's crazy, all these people with powers under one roof, it's a miracle that this place is still standing!
I'm a sophomore at Bellefonte right now, I've got a few friends but I wanted to lay low for the most part. Scope out the area before I dive straight into it head first. Last year was basically me going to classes, doing homework, hanging with a couple people here and there, sleeping, and eating. I did a lot of the last two.
Now in my second year I'm looking to branch out, meet more people, make new friends, and maybe...just maybe find someone to...more than friends with.
