It’s Not What It Seems

Devyn had been struggling; mainly mentally, but it was starting to carry over to her physically state of being. Not that anyone would notice since Devyn was pretty good at hiding what was really wrong and going on with her. She had done it for a while now and she was still doing what she normally did, just spending a lot more time in her bed when she was in her room. The fair was here and that meant that there would be rides, face painting, that action, and games to play. This would have been a perfect time to ask Zoe out on a date to the fair, but Devyn was busy trying to figure things out and had not gotten around to asking Zoe. She did plan on going, just not showing up right away, but for sure was not going to miss the auction. Devyn felt pretty much out of it as she got to the fair, wearing a nicer set of jeans with a button up short sleeve shirt that had the first few top buttons unbuttoned. Other than some nice sneakers and the usual shades for being outside in the day time that was all Devyn wore, not wanting to overheat or anything. She had to catch Zoe before the auction spend some time with her, something…she just felt so off.

Sure I’ll snap to my usual self when I get around her. Devyn kept telling herself as she arrived the fair and knew she was probably going to have to track Zoe down by her scent with how many people where here. She adjusted her shades and caught a game with very large stuff animals for a prize. Yeah she should win Zoe something as a gift to be an apology for not asking her to the fair in the first place and possibly bring up the fact that she had been the one to volunteer Zoe up for the auction. Still a big tiger might get in the way with having to carry it, but Devyn could do it, and it was not like people before did not win large stuff animals and end up carrying them all around the fair. Plus she wanted to get something big for Zoe and then they could play games together or eat some cotton candy or something. Anything, she just…wanted to be with Zoe at the moment. For now she focused on the game, a ring toss of sorts with having to get the ring over like the old day little milk storage units or something.

At least it said milk on the side, Devyn didn’t know what it was but she knew she had brought in a lot of cash with her, at least a thousand bucks, thanks to selling some things and that monthly check she got from her mom. She was pretty sure she ended up spending at least one hundred bucks before she managed to win the big tiger she was now carrying around her while she tracked down with Zoe. It took a few minutes but soon the scent was strong and she even saw Zoe. Why did she feel nervous all of a sudden? “Zoe, I know I should have asked you sooner but do you want to hang out a little bit? I got you this.” Devyn said as she held out the large stuffed tiger for Zoe to get a look at or take while her green eyes looked away for a moment.

Honestly, Zoe should be enjoying her time at the fair a good deal more than she currently was. Things had just spiraled out of control lately, and they kept chasing one another around in Zoe's head, haunting her. She'd been volunteered for the dating auction, and she was pretty sure Devyn had done it. nothing felt more like being nudged away than that. Devyn had, after all, been quite insistent that their relationship was "open," despite everything Zoe felt and wanted. She just... she didn't know what to do. It was made all the worse by the fact that she couldn't untangle her feelings from Devyn.

She'd opted to roam around the fair for a bit, determined that some part of it would help lighten her mood. Her therapist kept telling her that she needed to expand her circle of friends, meet more people, get out and see the world. Zoe tried, but it just seemed her Fate to end up more or less alone. She did end up spending quite a bit of time watching the face painters, staring and wondering.

Just when Zoe had decided that perhaps she should go look for something to eat, she heard and all too familiar voice. She turned, looking up to see Devyn there. Zoe blinked those big brown eyes, which soon went straight to the giant stuffed animal. Yes, that was definitely a Devyn thing to do: get Zoe another stuffed toy of some sort. Though part of Zoe wished that Devyn would actually get her something that wasn't obviously supposed to be some kind of reminder of her. Zoe was small and cute, not... big and predatory. That was Devyn. Devyn was getting her things to remind her of Devyn.

Still, Zoe couldn't help but smile, smile and nod as Devyn said that she should've asked sooner. As soon as those words passed Devyn's lips, Zoe's smile twitched a little. Yes, Devyn should have asked her for a date instead of putting her up for auction. She felt a momentary surge of anger, but she quickly dismissed it. "Of course we can," was what she ended up saying. She reached down to smoother her dress, at least thankful that she dressed cute. Though given that Zoe's entire wardrobe consisted of roughly six outfits, it was almost hard not to dress cute. Today's ensemble happened to be a light blue sundress, one of the only two that Zoe owned right now. She did have to wear long, cotton gloves that stretched all the way up her arms, which made her feel almost silly. A small purse hung around her shoulder, holding not only her money, but also a set of syringes: antidotes and preventatives for her power. Zoe never went out without them.

"I was, um,' she continued, pointing over Devyn's shoulder, "thinking about getting something to eat?"

Zoe was looking at her, with those beautiful eyes that Devyn did want to only look at her from time to time. Gosh darn conflicted feelings of wanting to have Zoe and not wanting to have her. Why was this so hard? Like really? Man she wished her dad was alive, she could talk to him about all of this and maybe she would have figured things out. She did have a talk with Beau that made her realize a few things that she had a feeling she already knew was true, but she was just pushing it off. Devyn did not even think about the fact that the stuff animals she was getting Zoe would remind Zoe of Devyn. She was just thinking that big was better because you could hug them and what not. She was not actually good at the whole gift giving sort of thing if that had not been all that obvious. Gift giving was sort of a romantic thing when it was not done for a birthday or special occasion. When those happened usually you had a list of things you could pick from to get someone something they for sure would like.

Zoe was smiling so that had to mean that she liked it, so Devyn felt like she did the right thing. Her own smile going away at the nod because yes Devyn should have asked Zoe out and clearly Zoe thought the same. Lesson learned there and she really was going to try and get better. Devyn was happy to hear that Zoe was okay with hanging out; and that unlike Devyn, Zoe was not the type to avoid or give the cold shoulder. Again it left Devyn confused and wondering just how Zoe could do it all for a person like Devyn? "Thanks...and after the auction with you in it ends. I like if we could talk alone somewhere." Devyn said after looking away for a moment before looking back to Zoe to say those words. They needed to talk, yes. The talk was important and part of it would probably make Zoe happy while another part not so much. Devyn was not really sure; she just knew she had to let Zoe know a few things because it was killing her to keep this stuff in any longer. She felt like she was going to end up having a breakdown of sorts if she was not careful and that would result in the loss of control over her power.

Zoe looked as cute or more so as beautiful as she always did. Devyn's eyes looking over and lingering on Zoe as she shifted her hold on the tiger to keep it out of the way. Zoe pointing over Devyn's shoulder and causing her to look to see what Zoe was pointing at, hearing the words about getting food. Fair food was pretty good, well depending, but either way it was what Zoe wanted. "Okay cool. I'm buying then." Devyn said as she moved over a little closer to Zoe and held out her hand, wanting to hold Zoe's just wanting contact with the other girl. This was Devyn after all and she was very big on her physical contact.

A talk alone? Zoe couldn't help but feel fear run through her at that, leaving ice water in her veins. It just had to have to deal with the fact that Zoe had been all weird lately, or that Devyn had. They were going to break up, weren't they? Zoe just knew it. She'd half been expecting it ever since she'd told Devyn she loved her and all but ruined it all. Now panic practically seized her chest, and she froze for several seconds, not even quite registering what Devyn said next.

A hand held out, and Zoe reflexively jerked back, her old reflexes taking over. She soon realized what she'd done, and to her, and almost too quickly put her hand back out, sliding it into Devyn's. The thin gloves Zoe wore for summer let her feel Devyn's hands all too well, and Zoe could feel her heart race. She wished that she'd paid attention to what Devyn had said though. What had they been talking about... food? Yes, food.

"Um," said Zoe, looking around for a moment, "most of it is, um, rather heavy," and Zoe liked light foods, as Devyn knew full well. She chewed her lip for a few moments. Something told her that her earlier plan of getting some cotton candy or maybe those frozen ice cream balls wasn't going to work. "Oh, I know!" she practically clapped and then turned. "There are these bananas that are dipped and chocolate, and I think I saw a stand with them over that way," she turned and pointed, wanting desperately to seize onto that, enjoying the fair, being in the present, instead of the specter of "the alone talk" hovering over her.

Yes, a talk alone. It needed to happen. Devyn had to talk to Zoe but unlike what Devyn had been planning for a long time and what Zoe probably still feared, she was not going to ask to break up. No, she was going to leave that to Zoe choice after she told Zoe that entire she had to say. She didn't want to think about that at the moment, she wanted to think about making it up to Zoe for being a jerk these past few weeks and well not being a very good girlfriend. They were still girlfriends after all since neither one of them said that they wanted to break up or anything along those lines. Devyn could see that Zoe was clearly worried about it; she could read Zoe pretty well from time to time. At least she could read the fear, almost feel it like it really was a fact that animals could sense someone’s fear. "Don't worry, okay?" Devyn said but it came out more of questions because she didn't want Zoe to worry.

The hand jerking back did hurt a little, but Devyn supposed she deserved it with how she had been with Zoe. Deserved to lose that trust she worked so hard to get to make Zoe comfortable touching her. The hand did come back however, pretty quickly at that and Devyn going to entwine her fingers with Zoe's. She could feel them a lot better and it was pretty nice, but she would always prefer the real thing after having felt it before. Zoe pointed out that all the foods were pretty heavy, yes that was very true in fact. Was there anything here that would have been easy for Zoe? Cotton candy? No, they gave large servings and it was just pure colored sugar. Devyn was thinking now but Zoe seemed to come up with it before her. Bananas dipped in chocolate that actually sounded pretty well and a nice mix of healthy and not healthy. "Okay, let’s go get them then. I didn't know you liked chocolate covered fruit." Devyn said, keeping a hold of Zoe's hand and moving off in the direction Zoe had pointed off too.

"You know chocolate is said to be an aphrodisiac." Devyn said with a sly smile that didn't stay too long. She was flirting again, should she not with Zoe since Zoe had only half pleased when Devyn was doing it before? She really could not help it. "I only know how to say that word because of its meaning." Devyn said with a slightly embarrassed chuckle since if it did not mean what it did then she would not have actually worked on pronouncing it so she could say it with ease like now.

Don't worry. Because of course saying it made all the feelings go away. Just like that, Zoe was completely relieved. No stress, no troubles at all. Zoe fought back a sigh, half wondering if that wasn't how it was for Devyn. Felt that way sometimes. Yet she didn't want to bring it up. They were still together, for now, at the least, and at the fair. Though Zoe did wish that Devyn had actually asked instead of meeting up with her by "accident."

At least they could focus on fair things. Like the food, namely the type that Zoe had mentioned. She nodded at Devyn's assertion/question. "Who doesn't like chocolate covered fruit?" she asked, before laughing a little. As far as she was concerned, it was most certainly true. She didn't know anyone who didn't, at the very least. Hand in hand, she move forward with Devyn, figuring on heading that direction.

Of course Devyn would have to bring that up. Zoe fought against a sigh of frustration. That was Devyn; she loved Devyn, loved even that part of her. She was just.... wanting more, for some reason. At least that meant that Devyn still found her desirable, but, well, again: Devyn found nearly everything desirable, which was precisely part of the problem.

Zoe was tempted to say that she wasn't that surprised to hear that the only reason Devyn knew the pronunciation of the word had to do with what it meant. That sounded so wholly like her that she more or less just accepted it. Accepted it and kept walking. "Have you spent any time here?" asked Zoe, looking askance at Devyn. "It does seem like something you'd like," and something that Zoe really wouldn't. She supposed that Devyn had to spend at least some time here, otherwise there wouldn't be the large stuffed animal they were carrying, but they had to talk about something.

Devyn knew that just saying it was probably not going to make Zoe feel better or make things better in general. Devyn was bad at words and preferred to show by action, but she didn't know if she should just kiss Zoe to let her know that everything was okay. Would Zoe be fine with a kiss? Did she even want to kiss Devyn anymore? Hell, was Zoe even still attracted to Devyn at this point? Devyn actually did wonder these things because she knew that some woman when they were upset with her they tended to just start disliking everything about her. Things that they had been fine with before but then when things were going bad, everything was a problem. Zoe didn't say anything and Devyn really wish that Zoe would. Just to yell at her, tell her the things that she didn't like about her. She didn't have to be so nice, Devyn was not learning anything with Zoe being nice. She could feel that there was something there, but words about it never left Zoe's mouth.

Yeah, Devyn should have asked Zoe out instead of tracking her down and trying to make up with it with a large stuff animal and the plan to hang out until Zoe had to go do her auction. When the auction was over then they would be alone to talk and Devyn could at least try her attempt at telling Zoe things. "True, the person who invented it was a genius. Now I'm going to have to get you chocolate covered strawberries and feed them to you at some point. That’s pretty romantic." Devyn said but the last bit was almost like a question, as if she was checking to make sure that it was really something that was romantic. Zoe would know, she was good at the kind of thing so that was why Devyn was basically asking for some form of approval. Devyn had been expecting Zoe to say something about Devyn commit or maybe a tease or something but she got nothing. Nothing at all even relating to what she had said, causing her green eyes to look down. Did she no longer have the skill to woo Zoe, to get her to blush and hit Devyn for what she said?

I don't know... Devyn thought to herself, squeezing Zoe's hand a little and pushed back her own frustration and confusion. She just had to keep at it, try different things right? Zoe was not being affected by the flirting and teasing so she was just going to not have to do it. It would be a bit of a challenge but she could do it, she was good at changing tactics when it came to dealing with someone if she really desired to. "I actually have been in my room most of this day. Just was at the one game stand to win this tiger and then went to find you." Devyn asked with a gesture with the tiger while she also thought about the other bit that Zoe said. "I do enjoy the fair a bit I guess. The school does this every year around this time and I like to think of it as a few days where I can be unhealthy, spend money, and win prizes." Devyn said with a chuckle but then thought of something that was probably more important.

"Do you like them?" Devyn asked, feeling like maybe now with her power Zoe didn't, but had she before at least?

Again, Devyn turned things around. She was obviously trying, right? Zoe really felt like she should give Devyn that much, yet, yet she still felt like there shouldn't really be that much trying. It just shouldn't be this hard. It wasn't for her, not until something got in the way.

A squeezed hand, Zoe's lips quirking just a bit. Yes, trying. Though it surprised Zoe to hear that Devyn had mostly been in her room. The other girl was just so much more vivacious, so much more outgoing than Zoe. It was hard for Zoe to believe that Devyn would've just stayed locked up somewhere when she could be experiencing all this. Even Zoe had been out, enjoying it, and this wasn't her first day.

"This is the first one I've been to," replied Zoe, looking around, "at least, for the school anyway. I've always liked fairs somewhat, especially the temporary ones like this. all this happiness and joy flung up in a few moments to only last a few weeks or months," Zoe took a deep breath, letting it out slowly, smiling at the release. Yes, she definitely liked fairs like this. So much good wrapped up in them. She doubted that Devyn saw it the way she did though.

"It's also easier now then it would've been," she said, her hand drifting toward her purse, knowing what lay there. Hadn't she told Devyn about that? She didn't want to mention the preventative, not now, not any more. That was... too big of a step for where they were now. But the antidote... hadn't she mentioned that? It felt too big to have been hidden.

Devyn was trying, trying so hard in fact to try and keep things on the happy end of things and figure out what was that she was doing wrong. What Zoe wanted since Zoe was not giving her any way of actually knowing if anything was wrong. She felt the only reason she knew something was up now was because all of her attention was fully on Zoe, she was thinking about Zoe; none stop. What was easy for Zoe was not easy for Devyn since Devyn was not a romantic; she didn't understand the ways of feeling and deeply caring about someone. It was scary; she was only seventeen years old? Did she really have to worry about such things? She still had time to be young and enjoy the things she could do now. Yet apparently it was not working anymore, at least that was what Devyn was guessing. She might have been just imaging that something was wrong with Zoe the whole time where it was just something wrong with herself. Like projecting what she felt was wrong onto Zoe and therefore thinking something was wrong with Zoe. She really didn't know.

Alright, just stop thinking about it. Just go with it, pay attention, and just think like that romantic stuff in the movies. Devyn told herself, mentally nodding like that was the best plan she could come up with and that it was going to work for sure. It was time to be out in the sun with the shades protecting her eyes and trying to do better by Zoe. That was the goal. Devyn was paying attention to every word Zoe was saying, even watching her lips to lip read in case she might have missed something. So it was Zoe's first time here for something school related, okay Devyn got that. Devyn started to smile a little more at hearing that Zoe actually enjoyed the fair. How it was fun times and joy all wrapped up in a limited amount of time, yeah Devyn could sort of understand that. "Never thought of it that way, but I see your point." Devyn said with a nod, catching the deep breath and wondering if everything was still okay or if Zoe was just taking in the moment.

There was a part that Devyn did not fully understand, about it being easier than it would have been. Devyn saw the hand going to the purse but it didn't really click as to what Zoe was talking about. "Meaning you feel comfortable with people touching you now ever since I..." Devyn stopped herself because it was going to be something that turned into a flirt. Instead biting her lip and looking away for a moment. Really, why was this so hard? Zoe had told Devyn about something being made, but she never actually got around to telling Devyn that it was completed. Since they had not been around one another a lot since the morning after prom. Still she would have liked to know about it, for the sake of being in the loop.

Zoe smiled, realizing that, yet again, Devyn was trying. Saying she'd never thought of something that way, but could see it now. Not quite the same,but, well, she couldn't really expect Devyn to see things perfectly her way. That just didn't happen... right? Or did it? Zoe should just stop thinking about it; that was her problem here, oferthinking.

She took a deep breath, nodding, moving forward, literally in this case. It seemed like Devyn had caught on to her comment, and, just as obviously, that Zoe hadn't mentioned the antidote. Now she felt well and truly guilty, as it was something that she should've shared with Devyn. Then again, quite a lot had happened lately, with their both being attacked and dealing with SPECTRE and prom and this and... everything.

"Dr. Campbell," she began before squirming a little, her hand working around Devyn's for a few moments. "Dr. Campbell worked with me to-- to make an antidote," and then some, and hiding the then some from Devyn nearly hurt. "If someone's feeling my paralysis, then I just inject them with the antidote in the area, and it cancels it out," Zoe nodded, taking a quick breath of relief. "Which means that I don't have to worry about crowds or anything. Even if I touch someone for too long, which really is quite hard, I can just administer the antidote. He, um, showed me how," she fumbled then, her hand nervously going around Devyn's. She looked up, meeting Devyn's gaze for a moment before looking out at the fair as a whole.

Devyn saw the smile, that at the very least made her feel a little better to at least know that she must have been doing something right or at the very least that Zoe was least in a good mood. Devyn wore a small smile, one that did not stay on her face very long since her mind was heavy with thoughts but she did smile still. Plus Devyn was not that big of on smiling unless she was flirting or something but even then that was more so smirks and grins with hidden intent behind them. She still walked with Zoe, figuring they would end up at the banana place in no time that Zoe had been talking about to get themselves some chocolate covered bananas. That was sounding pretty good at the moment and Devyn was going to have to fight herself to not say anything about the fact that they would be eating a banana, a food that was just an innuendo waiting to happen. Devyn was wondering how much they cost and if they would be giving in a bowl or like on a stick. It was safe to say that she actually never had a chocolate covered banana.

A name that Devyn was very familiar with cause Devyn to look at Zoe, still walking so they could get to their set destination. Zoe’s hand was moving around a lot around Devyn’s but she didn’t mind and just glanced down at their hands before looking to Zoe again. Ah yes, the antidote so they really were working on it and it was not just something the Doc might have been doing to just make the girl happy or something. So they had worked an antidote out, all they had to do was inject someone when they came into contact with Zoe and everything would be fine. That must have made Zoe super happy the day she found out and Devyn was sort of surprised Zoe had not come running to tell her. “That’s great Zoe. Sounds sort of like an EpiPen.” Devyn said with a small nod, but those things had needles in them too right? Still Devyn looked back at Zoe and actually smiled, happy that Zoe had something like that and that she could be in crowds. “He is a nice guy. I actually met him and he told me that you guys were working on something like that. It’s really good to hear that you have something that works. Just don’t go crazy and start going to wild parties and touching everyone.” Devyn teased but this was not a flirting tease so she hoped that it was fine.

There was that bananas covered in chocolate stand there and Devyn led the rest of the way to it and thankfully there was not really a line at the moment. “You order I pay?” Devyn asked, having no clue that Zoe was hiding anything from her so was just happy for Zoe’s news and that Zoe would be able to probably come out of her shell even more now. That would be nice.

Zoe nodded. "Pretty well exactly like an EpiPen, actually. He, um, compared it to that," and it came in a canister that looked and felt like that. An EpiPen for mutant powers; truly a modern medical miracle in the purest form. It did surprise Zoe to hear that Devyn and Dr. Campbell had talked to one another, not to mention that Dr. Campbell had explained everything to Devyn. Zoe flushed at that, opening her mouth to begin explaining, but Devyn rendered her silent with a little more teasing.

Zoe flushed and looked down at the ground. As if she ever went to parties, even before she'd gotten her powers. Still, before they reached the stand, she felt she should at least say: "I was keeping it all as a surprise for you," she said, looking up at Devyn. "I, um, also wasn't sure if it all would really work for the longest time, and I didn't want to get your hopes up." Because it had been bad enough that Zoe's had been raised. If both girls had gotten excited and it hadn't turned out... Zoe didn't want to think about it.

Chocolate bananas were there to distract them, fortunately. Zoe nodded, though with some reluctance. She did have some of her own money now... though not a whole lot, and she really should be saving to get more clothing or fix her old camera. She stepped up and ordered easily enough, obviously familiar with the way things worked there, settling back down and watching as they prepared the various treats.

"Um, if you wanted to, um, get something else, that would be okay too," offered Zoe, looking over at Devyn. "I know you like, uh, heavier things." Like meat, mostly, whereas Zoe pretty well only ate it when Devyn made her.

Alright, so it pretty much was an EpiPen, and those had needles in them right? Devyn really, really did not like needles. So much so that she didn't even want to think about how it would feel to be ejected or poked or whatever with one. She and Zoe had touched enough and while Devyn didn't have immunity to Zoe's power or anything, she was at least used to it and knew how long she could have contact against Zoe skin. So since it was just an antidote she figured that she would not have to worry about taking it at any point. Unless she or Zoe slipped up and Devyn ended up not being bale to breath but they had been really careful since then. Even if Devyn still longed to be able to kiss Zoe deeply and not have to worry about not feeling it or not being able to breath.

"He told me that you were getting it for me but since we are pretty good at touching one another we should not have to use it. At least I don't mind the numb feeling." Devyn pointed out since she did recall the Doc saying that Zoe was doing it for Devyn and remembered how she felt bad. Now that it yielded something like this where Zoe could keep contact with others and just gives them a shot to get rid of the effects, it was great. "I expected you to be jumping up for joy with something like this. Being able to touch others without having to fear." Devyn said in the moment of silence that she assumed was from the teasing, but Zoe blushed and that was a good sign compared to a sigh or nothing at all. So that had to mean Devyn was doing better again and she just had to keep it up. Devyn smiled at Zoe when she pointed out that she didn't want to get Devyn hopes up or anything, Devyn still missing the fact that there was something else that would allow the two of them to touch.

"That was nice of you Zoe. Still if you told me sooner and it didn't work, yeah it would suck but we still can only do what we normally do. Unless you want to waste all your little EpiPens on me...plus do they work on someone’s mouth?" Devyn asked as they reached the stand, leaving it to Zoe to do the ordering one purpose to avoid any chance of her flirting or picking something to big. Once things were ordered Devyn paid and waited with Zoe, looking up at the sky for a moment until Zoe offered up Devyn getting something else. Pointing out how she liked heaver things, which was very true but her eating habits had been on the decline. By decline that was that she was not eating as much as she normally did, but Zoe didn't need to know that since Devyn was not starving herself or anything.

"The only other thing I would like would be a kiss from you." Devyn said as she moved closer to Zoe, flirting again but she did want to kiss her and it just felt weird to not have kissed her by now.

It wasn't just for Devyn... just... mostly. Zoe also didn't want to keep freaking out whenever she got close to people, thinking that just an accidental brush could cause great harm or something. The face of a SPECTRE agent flashed in Zoe's memory again, and she swallowed hard, suppressing it. Not everyone was as accepting of her situation as Devyn.

As for the jumping up and down, Zoe flushed at that. She was tempted to admit that she had... back when she'd first found out about the antidotes and all. She'd had them for a while now, so mentioning them just felt like mentioning a chronic disease, or maybe her power. It was just something that she had and knew how to use... like the preventative...

And Devyn naturally had to think of lips and tease again. Zoe smiled a little at that, hardly surprised by Devyn's mind by now. As for being nice... Zoe wasn't quite as certain of that fact. Maybe, maybe a little? She didn't know. This whole thing had just gotten... messy. at least they were in line to order now. Just think about that. Think about the fair. stop thinking about everything else. Then again, Zoe's therapist had told her that she needed to actually pay attention to the big issues.

"We haven't kissed because we're in public," Zoe pointed out, looking up at Devyn and smiling a little. That had always been a thing for her, even when her mind was much clearer with regards to the other girl. Part of Zoe still desperately wanted to kiss Devyn again. But it was all just... a lot to handle. For now, she kept her head tilted toward her, obviously offering Devyn to do what Devyn always wanted to do.

Devyn did catch that Zoe was swallowing hard, but she didn't know what was going through Zoe's mind. Zoe shared things, but left things out as well so it was hard sometimes to really figure out what was going on in Zoe's head. Was that Devyn's fault? For not saying that she loved Zoe back and for getting weird when heavy topics were brought up? She was pretty sure she only got weird when topics of love were brought up, anything else she was able to handle. She had nightmares and bad thoughts too and would have always been happy for Zoe to talk to her about it, so she could lighten Zoe's loud a little. That was how Devyn saw it with all of her friends, she did want to be there for them and be the Shadow Prince that controlled the shadows and would keep those she cared about safe to the best of her ability.

More flushing at the jumping up and down comment that had Devyn figuring that Zoe probably done that when she first found out about it. Devyn didn't even know how long Zoe had the preventatives so was in the dark on all of that. In fact she had actually forgotten that Doctor C had even told her about it until Zoe brought it up again. She had forgotten about it on purpose because part of her felt bad that Zoe was going to the infirmary and seeking out a doctor’s help for such a thing. It must have been scary and who knows how many needled Zoe had been poked with. Zoe pointing out that they had not kissed because they were in public. Fair enough, but tons of people kissed in public and it was not like bad unless you started making out with the other person in front of other people. Still, Zoe was shy about that sort of thing, but Devyn did recall several times where Zoe still kissed her in the public eye.

"That didn't stop you at prom or the time we were in the arcade food court." Devyn said as she moved a little closer to Zoe, leaning in. Man she loved Zoe's scent and well just looking at Zoe. Zoe's head was tilted up at Devyn, so was Zoe secretly giving her permission to give her a kiss? Was this some kind of test? "You're so beautiful, Zoe." Devyn said after a moment of just staring into Zoe's brown eyes with her green. Then leaning in to give Zoe's cheek a kiss, lingering until her lips felt tingly. "There, cheek kisses are fine in public right?" Devyn asked, still leaning in and still wanting to give Zoe a kiss on her lips, but she had to wait. Wait and see how Zoe was about the cheek kiss before she would do anything else.
