The Worst Prank of All

This ought to be the worst prank in the whole universe. It better be a prank. Because once he’ll catch the one who did this to him, even thought François had not a single bad bone in him, he’ll make them pay. Talking of payment, a good thing he didn’t have to pay for that package.

Someone had a brilliant idea to send a package for him here at the school. They probably thought Franck was residing here, like most students. Except that he was not. He thanked the lady at the desk however when he picked it up, curious as to what could be in there already. While walking out of the office, he started to open up the package. There was no returning address, he did notice as much when he first got the box. But his name sure was there, in plain sight, with the name of the school and all the information required for it to be sent here. Who could send him something? He did mail-order things, mostly movies and books from France, that sort of thing, but he would never send it to Bellefonte. Why would he when he lived with his father in town?

Curiosity taking over, he finally managed to open the box. And there he stood appalled. The box was filled with condoms. And a book on top of it. “The Big Book of Erotic Food”. Seriously? Franck raised his head real quick. If he could see his face, he bet he looked like a deer catching a car’s lights before getting hit or something. He had to prevent anyone from seeing this. And he had to get rid of this as subtly as possible.

Well, that had been the plan but then the noise of a door slamming made him startle. And drop the box. He saw it fall to the ground, almost in slow motion. Quickly, he fell on his knees and tried to collect everything before anyone could see this. Busy as he was shoving those condoms in the box, he didn’t notice the book that came gliding further away from him. It didn't strike him as something as dangerous for him as the rubber was.

Having just spent an hour in the library she had an armful of books to lug around. Today was one of those days when she had woken up feeling like the underside of a cow pattie. So unlike most days she did not have her hair gelled, dyed, or styled in any way. Also her face was free of any make up leaving her feeling naked without her thick black eye liner. On top of all that nothing she was wearing faded jeans, and worn plaid button up shirt over a white tank top. Compared to her usual outfits this was along the lines of walking around in her pajamas or underwear.

Earbuds in with music blaring she headed to the dorms planning on tucking into one of the books for the rest of the day. Though she didn't hear a door slamming she did notice the guy who dumped a box of what looked like square candy, and a book. She pressed a button on her ear bud cord to stop her music so she could actually talk to the guy. Mae stooped to help picking up the book, and her first thought of candy changed instantly. Though she'd never seen so many condoms in one place in her life she was guessing from his reaction that maybe he hadn't either. 

Seeing as he was trying to scramble to hide the wrapped little packages of joy she figured he wouldn't find laughter helpful. "Good book, thou' I prefer the Karma Sutra. It's an oldie but a goodie tha' one." She held out the book with a small grin. "Either yer he'ping the Sex Ex teacher out by supporting safe sex, or yer plannin' on a busy weekend." Mae held her books closer to her chest hiding the fact that she was reading about serial killers, death, and Medieval torture. Sure they might not be as embarrassing as a sex book but they could creep people out a bit.

Oh, why did he startle? Well, the answer was obvious. Because he was a scaredy cat who didn’t want to get caught by anyone with that box in his hands. Of course, startling had to be the stupidest thing he could have done, since he then dropped the box, letting the content spill out for everyone to see. He didn’t know what kind of image he was giving to people, should anyone walked by at this moment. Some boy rapidly grabbing all the dropped condoms and tossing them in the box. It was probably funny when you were watching it on television, with the live audience laughing with you so you know you had the right to do it. In reality, however, this was beyond embarrassing and if Franck could turn red right now, a cooked lobster would seem pale in comparison.

He did not startle when someone talk. This time, his body seemed to have learned the lesson and froze instead. He raised his head as the girl talked about the book. The book! He had totally forgotten about it. And now, she was holding it, obviously having read the title, handing it over to him. Of course, in her position, and considering there were still a few pieces of rubber he had not yet collected, she could see what else was in the box. This added to his embarrassment and he snatched the book from her hand, tossing it in the box. “These aren’t mine,” he objected in his thick French accent. He was too startled to really bother with toning it down a little.

He finished grabbing the condoms and stood up with the box in his hands, making sure it was closed so that no one else can see what was in it. “I didn’t order this, I swear. I don’t know who sent it to me. Please don’t talk of that,” he asked her. That would just be the last straw, more people knowing. Just bury him already, it would be simpler. He forced himself to calm down. Now that they seemed to be all tucked in nicely in the box, away from anyone’s gaze, he could relax a little. “Sorry about that. I bet it was a prank from my friend Frank. Last time, she even suggested paying me an escort,” he said, trying to shrug it off. But obviously it would take more than that for him to forget about what happened.

When he froze like someone in one of those horror movies as if he were thinking 'Don't move they'll go away' kind of things. Her eye brows rose and she had to fight even harder not to laugh. Like this was the first time she'd ever seen a guy with rubers, please. She did startle however when he yanked the book away, and bit her head off with the remark. "Oh? Then yer not carin' a box of raincoats with a how to book?" The accent didn't really throw her off considering her Nana back in New Orleans was quite the French speaker.

Eyes narrowing she wished she'd worn her usual get up it just made her so much more intimidating. Hard to be threatening when you looked like a po-dunk little girl. Not bothering to help anymore she just stood there watching as he finished cleaning up. Then the excuses, or at least she labeled them as such, started up. Again her eyebrows shot up eyes widening. "Righ', that's a new one." Shaking her head she started to move around him. Seriously some guys were just disgusting couldn't even own up to being a horn dog. Like it was that big of a deal everyone, or well, nearly everyone had sex.

Mae paused at the start of a apology giving him a look clearly still not believing him. "I think the lady protests too much." From her hanging out with Zoe she was able to fake the English accent pretty well though it did get a little mixed up with her heavy southern. "Whatever, look boy I don' care. I don' know ya. Why would I say anythin' bout ya? Deep breaths already. It's not like it's drugs or summit. Jus' a box of rubbers. Big woop."

Franck did pause again when she pointed out that he was carrying the box he claimed was filled of things that weren’t his. “Well yes but...” he began to say, choking as he wasn’t sure what to respond. He was carrying the box, making its content very much his. And if she knew who he was, well his name on it only made it even more his property. A property he didn’t want to claim. He almost wanted to toss the box away right now, pretend it to be someone else’s problem but his name was still on it and if someone found the box, they might decide to open it and see what the little French boy ordered. It was the last thing he needed.

He explained to her he did not order this box. But she obviously did not believe him. Why was it so hard to believe that a box delivered to the school with his name on it was not his? Oh, right. He supposed in her position he wouldn’t exactly believe it either. But he was not. He was being targeted, someone obviously finding it funny to have the French gay guy of the school pose as the horniest of them all. Well, he supposed being French and being gay could have people believe that but it was not the case. And Franck felt he had to defend his virtue here. As silly as it was, he could not drop the matter. The girl probably had no idea who he was, couldn’t care less. Why bother? But Franck did bother, he didn’t want people starting rumours that he was so into sex he needed to buy a shitload of condoms to satisfy his needs.

He startled at her words. She was not going to believe him. She even pointed out what his rational mind had been trying to tell him: that she didn't know him, that it was not drugs and not that big of a deal. Yet he couldn’t stop defending himself. Because she was getting a wrong idea of him. “Yeah but that’s not mine. I don’t know who sent this to me but I never asked for it. I certainly don’t need that much rubber I don’t even have someone to sue it with,” he said only to realize he shouldn’t have said that. It was wrong in just too many ways. Franck sighed heavily, closing his eyes shut as he cursed whoever put him in that situation. “You want some, I’m giving them all to you. I don’t know why someone send me that and I don’t want to know, it’s not funny.”

The guy did seem pretty flustered maybe he was telling the truth. Her bitter female mind just giggled at that little idea. If only she didn't have an armful of books she'd cross her arms or put her hands on her hips to clearly show how she thought of his actions. But alas she had to keep the book on America's Killers tucked close to her chest. Not that she much cared about what this random boy thought, but just like him she didn't need more rumors spread about her. People thought she was freak enough without adding serial killer finatic to the mix.

Eyes roaming over the box she spotted some writing and tilted her head to see if she could read. Then thought better of it, it was none of her business who this kid was, or about his package. In more ways than one. Cheeks tinging a bit she started to leave again not wanting to hear the next speal of excuses after she called him out. Sighing he just sounded so desperate in trying to get her to believe him. So Mae turned back toward him smiling a little that he'd spilled that he was single, or at least not active.

"I don' 'zactly have anyone to, what ya call it? Sue it wi'h ne'der so you can keep them." Though she did think it's be funny to make water balloons out of all of them. She wasn't the prankster type so it was just a thought. "Iffin they're not yer's and ya don' wan'em then toss 'um." Mae jerked a thumb toward the closest trash care receptacle not that far away. "Jus' keep the box or keep the part wi'h yer name on it. Easy fix." Such a serious boy who looked so very frustrated, and so very cute.

Shrugging she held out a hand. "Easy now, it's okay, Frenchy. Give me the box I'll toss it. No laughin', promise."

He knew he was exaggerating. And he should consider himself lucky only one person found out about the content of this box. He could deny if she started to spread the rumour. No, he knew he couldn’t. He wasn’t a good enough liar for that. He’ll stutter, blush, look away, start to justify himself, no way would someone believe this box was not his, or at least sent to him.

That brought back the question: who sent it to him? Did they just pick one name in the yearbook or did they knew him and thought it would be funny? Was this a prank to mock the fact he was French and so horny, or gay and so horny? Oh, he wanted so much for Frank to show up right now and say she put his name on it because she wanted to order lots of condoms to make water bomb and feared they would check any package with her name on it. But Frank was not here to tell him that and François was currently standing with another girl, one who didn’t believe he had no intention of using those for the obvious reason you generally used them for.

He sighed when she pointed out he could keep them. Her accent was a bit hard to understand but then again he assumed his was also. He greatly improved over the year but you had to be really bad with accents not to notice his. He stared at her again when she suggested for him to toss them. “My name’s on that box,” he reminded her but she seemed to have thought about it too and pointed out he could simply keep the box of this part of it. Now that was an idea. But with his luck, someone might barge in just while he was tossing all those condoms in the trash. He did end up with someone walking in the corridor right when he let the box fall to the ground to spill its content.

He startled a bit at the name she gave him. Frenchy. Well, he supposed he earned that name, giving the fact he was French. “The name’s Franck,” he pointed out, saying it as if she should know, like he was correcting her for saying it wrong or something. He stared at the trash bin. It was pretty easy. “Too bad I don’t know who sent this to me. I’d love to give it back. A nice pile in front of his or her door, that would look nice,” he commented, still debating exactly what he should do. Toss it all and be done with it? Well, he did want to get rid of those, the box was almost burning his fingers. He looked down at the box and the sticker with his name and the address of the school on it. “You got a pen, or a marker?”

At his comment she stared down at the box searching for some sort of return address. Most places didn't ship packages unless there was some sort of return address. Then again if it was hand delivered by the culprit they of course would not have to adhere to any shipping rules. Not seeing one immediately her attention was brought back to the frazzled french boy in front of her.

"Frankie, got it." She gave him a small smile trying to ease his anxiety a little. It seemed odd yet adorable that a teenage boy was this worked up over a box of condoms. You'd think he'd be doing a happy dance rather than looking like he was about to vomit, or faint. Maybe no everyone in the world was as sex crazed as they made it appear on television and the internet.

Mae looked the box over again. "Did ya see a return address? Maybe ask the lady at the front desk who sent it?" Surely these were obviously things to look for and to do, but sometimes the obvious allured us. Especially when one was stressed. At his question she lifted her arms of books a little to shift them all into one arm. She could've sworn she had a pen to write down the book titles while in the library. Nope, she must of left it in the library. Looking around she hoped to see one of the hundreds of pens or pencils dropped in the school halls. Nothing that she could see.

"Oh, pig skins this is ridiculous." She set the books down on the floor then moved to pick at the sticker on the box. "I thought ya wanted ta git rid of the box." Mae glanced up at him not understanding why he didn't just close the box and dump it. "Ya know standin' round holdin' it like a bunny talkin' bout it is only gonna bring attention to it."

He had a little smile as she called him Frankie. Somehow, he didn’t feel like correcting her. It was as if she tried to make him laugh a bit to get rid of the nerves. And he could use that. Franck looked at the box again. He had to admit that he was tempted to keep a few for himself. He had no one to use it with but he was given the chance to get some without having to go through the embarrassing deal of buying them. He should almost thank the one who sent him this box. But there was just too many for him to really be able to go past it. Not to add that he was a little embarrassed he wanted to keep some so much. Well, he mostly was because Maelea was here and she might just read what he was thinking right now. In this school, having a poker face was not enough to ensure no one knowing what you think.

“She was kind of busy. But you’re right, I don’t think there is one,” he admitted. He did recall looking for a return address, to know what was in it. He thought for a moment that he might have made a mistake a sent a package for him here instead of home. He was a little surprised when she claimed this was all ridiculous. She had a point though, in that position, they were likely to attract the attention of people. “It’s just... well if I’m to be someone’s comical relief, I feel like I should return the favour. And maybe I could use the box.

He helped Maelea get rid of the sticker with his name on it. With that gone, the box already seemed less menacing. Now, however, he wished he had a bit of Frank’s mischievous attitude. He would know then what to do of this. “You don’t have to stick around if you don’t want to. I’m not sure yet what I’ll do but maybe I can toss some under dorm doors or something...” he thought out loud. He really wasn’t the prankster type.

Picking at the sticker it was clear to see there was no return address, though sometimes the address was rather tiny print. As soon as the sticker was off she moved back to give him space. As stressed as he was she didn't want him to hyperventilate just because she was crowding him. "Well, ya could pick a person ya don' particularly like an have a trail of condroms leading to their dorm room."

Mae wasn't exactly a prankster she had a more revenge seeking type of mindset. Course hers more involved fear, terror, and possibly pain. Not so much in the humiliation tactics. At these thoughts she glanced down at the books on the floor wondering if she should be worried. A small shrug and she picked them back up. It's not like she was thinking of killing people. Tops maiming. Looking up at him when he spoke she suddenly realized he might be a telepath and cursed the school. Well, not like she expected them to be bosom buddies anyway, so it didn't matter if he thought her a psycho freak.

"Well, ya can just fold the lid closed? Maybe? Um, ya can wait till no one's in the boy's bathroom and just leave it out for people to grab?" That would be helpful? Promote safe sex and all that. Not very exciting, but then again she doubted he wanted to hear her ideas. Filling them with bleach and throwing them at people wearing fancy name brand crap made by orphans in China. Or maybe fill them with insect larva or spider eggs hide them in various places until the insects and spiders burst through scaring the crap out of people. Yep, not telling him those ideas.

If Maelea was more the revenge kind of prankster, Franck wasn’t a prankster at all. Maybe he could tease, a little, when everyone was in a mood for jesting, mostly because said mood was rubbing off on him. But he never really pranked anyone. Well, he tagged along with Frank sometimes but that was about it. Oh wait, he did suggest her to turn the pool into one giant coffee. But with those condoms, he really wasn’t sure what to do. He did think that he could make balloons or water bombs or something. He would never dare throw a water bomb at someone though. If it snapped too much or they had a bad reaction about it, he’d feel terrible, even though it really was nothing.

He didn't even notice the book on torture she had in her hands. He was too busy trying to figure out what to do. He didn’t hate someone enough to pull that kind of trick. Well, he didn’t like Demi much but no one would believe the little dirt goblin had any use for these. Ellen... but he was not that kind of person. “Thanks for your help. I think I’ll just put it in the boy’s room, like you said. Not really funny but I’m sure it will empty pretty quickly and some might have better ideas for prank than I do,” he said. Yeah, lame, but he was not the kind to be cruel. Plus, that might be funny to hear people claim there had been a box full of condoms in the boy’s room without them knowing who put it there. “You won’t tell, if someone talks about it?” he asked her.

He needed to do something though, before he put it there. Opening the box, he pulled out the book. “I think I’ll just drop it in the library. I’m sure it will please someone,” he came up with. He looked at Maelea. “You want some, before I drop it? I don’t care what you do with them really as long as I don’t have to deal with the whole box anymore,” he told her. She was free to dig in as much as she wanted. With the suggestions she gave him, he figured maybe she might want to try some of those on someone. And as long as he was not on the wrong end of that prank he didn’t mind.

Now that he finally had a plan of action he seemed more relaxed, which in turn made her relax. It wasn't funny or really a prank, but at least that got the condoms out of his hands. Plus it was spreading safe sex, and that was always a good thing. "I don' have anyone to talk to about it, and no one talks to me. So yer safe."
Which technically wasn't entirely true. She had Zoe to talk to about it and possibly Beau, or Elizabeth. Wow, since when did she have to many people to talk to? It was like Beau or Liz were her best friends, but she had at least Zoe. Anyway she wasn't going to be blabbing about this to anyone. If she did she wasn't going to mention names.

Eyes flicking to the book she smiled and nodded. "Stick in the history section or geography section prolly take the longest ta find. Or the Biology section makes sense to put it there." She could just see it now someone trying to find a book for a paper and happens upon the sex book. It made her giggle a little just thinking about it. At the offer Mae blinked gaze slowly turning downward to the box of rubbers. She could do some of her own pranks with them, or use them for their intended purpose. But she had no one to use them with, so it'd be pointless. And she didn't exactly want them stashed somewhere for safe keeping didn't want someone thinking she was loose or something.

Shaking her head she actually took a step back away from the offered box. "Nah, best not. Lead me not inta temptation as the sayin' goes." She felt her smile wilt a bit around the edges. "But thanks fer da offer."

Normally, Franck would probably feel sorry for Maelea after she said she had no one to talk to but he didn't think it was the truth, just a way of saying she would not talk about it, as she already promised him. After all, aside from the one who had it sent there, she was the only one who knew Franck got a box of condoms. For a moment, Franck did wonder if it might not have been a ruse from someone who wanted a lot of those without anyone finding out. Like, they put his name and would have come down to the reception to pick it up for him or something. Like this, if anyone found out, Franck would have been the pervert. He shook the thought off. It was a little late to come up with theories.

He had a little smirk when she suggested where he should put the book, depending how long he wanted it to take for someone to find it. He opened it, checked the pages. His name wasn’t on any page, it was not like they could trace it back to him. “I don’t know. You think it fair to deprive them of erotic recipes? Maybe I should put it in a more popular section. I doubt anyone would take it but they might check it in the library,” he said. The Biology section did make sense however. Oh, he’ll figure something out.

He laughed a bit when she turned down the offer. Franck was tempted to pick some, but definitely not in front of her. Because if he grabbed some, it would be in the hope that he would use them for the usual reason you need one. “Very well. I bet it will empty pretty fast if I put it in the boy’s room so that will be off my back pretty quickly,” he said. They weren’t too far from it so he handed Maelea the book. “You mind holding that while I put it there? I shouldn’t be long, I don’t want anyone finding me placing it there,” he asked her. He knew he was asking a lot out of the girl, especially for one he barely knew of. But he felt like she was in it with him now. “By the way, sorry if I was a little nervous before. It’s just, I get enough sexual innuendos or comments about how I should be more horny, so when you showed up, well... I’m usually not freaking out like this.” Franck chuckled lightly at his words. He wanted to explain his previous attitude and mostly didn't want Maelea to think he was like that normally.

"Could put it in the romance section since most of those books are smut anyway." She held the books to her chest smiling a bit at the line of conversation. It hadn't drifted that far from what they'd been talking about the entire time, but this seemed more interesting. Maybe because they were talking about books in specific? Either way she liked the idea of some poor unsuspecting soul finding this book.

Mae nodded picturing a guy running up to a group of his buddies proclaiming the box in enthusiasm. Then a swarm of testosterone filled male teenagers would fill the bathroom to grab up the box of rubbers. When he held out the book to her she blinked and reflexively grabbed it. "Uh, sure." She tucked it under a book about Charles Manson.

"No worries there, Frenchy. But why do ya need'ta be more horny? Isn' that a natural state for boys?" Furrowing her brows together she shifted the weight of her books smiling slightly. He was most certainly one of the more odd boys she'd ever met. Then again she didn't know that many boys personally. Maybe they were all weird.

Franck laughed as she suggested the romance section. Now, that was an idea. “You’re right. And it would serve them better. I haven’t thought of this one,” he admitted. Well, it seemed like he found the right section to put this lonely book. He was almost tempted to use another book’s cover to put over this one. That would be funny. He’ll have to see in there if it was possible. The romance section. Not one he looked at very often.

He was confident that the box would empty in no time. He couldn’t care less what those guys would do with it but he was certain that, given the opportunity to get free condoms without having any adult watching you get them, no doubt they would run for it. He chuckled when she pointed out that, as a guy, she didn't think he needed to be more horny, since it was natural for him. Well, he didn’t quite mean that but he was glad to use this. “Perhaps it is because I’m not all the time that those who believe that think that I should be more,” he replied with a joking tone, a smile still on.

He went to the restroom. Luckily, no one else was there. He found a spot where it would be pretty easy to spot the box and opened it to show its content. No need for someone to freak out and claim it was a bomb or something. He hesitated a moment but curiosity took over and Franck grabbed a few condoms that he stuffed in his back pocket. Not a lot, just a few. The box was sent to him, he might as well keep some, right?

He returned to find that Maelea stayed there. Good. Not like he would have minded but he preferred. “Thanks for holding this for me,” he said, ready to pick the book again. Time to put it in the library. It was then that he noticed what kind of books she had. “Hm, that’s some... interesting reading.” he said. He hoped she was interested on a historical level. Because if she found the man and what he had others do interesting...
