ZANE DANIEL PARSONS
EIGHTEEN//MALE//HETEROSEXUAL//ANIMAL MORPHING//STUDENT//ED WESTWICK
POWER INFO:
Animal Morphing- Zane is capable of morphing into any animal he chooses for short periods of time. The change may come from a memory of seeing a certain animal or by looking at an image of an animal, whether on television or in printed media. During the change, he gains all the animal's abilities. He also takes on the complexion of that animal. Zane is able to talk to both animals that speak the same language as the form he is in and humans.
Zane can shift into at least four animals without reverting to human form. However, this puts excessive strain on his body and mind, with the requirement that he rest for a few hours. In some cases, if all the animals that he shifts into are physiologically small, then he can do at least six transformations. He suffers no physiological or mental strain from rapid change within the limit or from holding a morph too long.
Limitations
-When undergoing a transformation, Zane retains only clothing that he may have on him. The fabric is broken down molecule by molecule, providing the form's flesh, whether it be fur, feathers or scales.
-If Zane attempts to go over the shift limit, he experiences severe nosebleeds or goes unconscious.
-He cannot turn into an extinct species.
-He retains injuries suffered during a transformation. However, these do not lock him into the animal's form.
Some injuries can be fixed by switching to an animal with a faster healing rate, for example, a lizard.
-The size of the animal determines how long he can stay in the form. If need be, he may switch to a smaller form with the same ability.
History
Zane was born to Jim and Alexa Parsons on May 20, 1996, the younger of their two children. He was raised in a loving home, surrounded by countless books that could be found in his father's diverse library. It was no surprise, then, that he learned to read at the tender age of three, when other children were running amok. In his elementary school years, he acquired numerous awards and excelled academically. His teachers called him a child prodigy and requested that he be moved into his older brother's class.
It was there that the trouble started. Zane's brother, Derek, was an alright kid. He came second in his class every year and, at the time, was focusing on the wooing over of the cutest girl in his class, Beth Daniels. So, when his smarter and slightly more attractive younger brother stepped in, Derek snapped. Trips to the principal's office became a frequent thing, his grades dropped and Beth's attention had been drawn to Zane. The worst thing was that his parents now looked at him with disdain.
An afternoon after his 15th birthday, when Zane returned from a study date with Beth, Derek attacked him. Being the larger of the two, Derek set about pummeling him from all angles, forcing Zane into a ball on the floor. He closed his eyes and wished that his brother's fists would stop. Amazingly, they did. But Zane felt a bit weird, and his mother's screaming, mingled with the astonished looks of his father and brother weren't helping. Neither did the fact that he was now in possession of teal skin, a tail and a bony plate on his back. Not to mention having four feet. Zane realized what all the terror was about, recalling these characteristics were that of a giant armadillo which he had seen on television earlier that day.
From then on, Derek was no longer seen as the 'troubled one'. His grades improved, he was the center of attention once more and the trips to the headmaster's office ceased almost entirely. But what of Zane? He was pulled from school without notice, locked in his room and never spoken of. His only solace was an animal encyclopedia that he had kept under his bed that he read with great fervor. Eventually, his parents decided that he was too much of a burden and could not be kept in the house. So they shipped him off to a boarding school in Leicester, England with a large sum of money and a request that he never try to contact them.
Unbeknownst to them, St. Bethany's was an institution for gifted teens and the administration was more than happy to have Zane. Two years passed without incident and Zane's parents continued to send money to pay for their burden. These funds were given to Zane to use however he chose. Even with all the money that he now had, he felt something was missing. So when St. Bethany's offered him a transfer to Bellefonte, he hopped on the next flight out, hopeful that the Academy had what was needed to fill the hole in his heart.
Description
Carefree, kind, fair. Words to describe Zane. He is a tad shy, but when you actually get to know him, he's actually really cool. He never really cared for what people have to say about him. Such things were burdensome. And they were normally wrong anyway. Normally. Women tend to like to be around him, as he treats them like people and not walking sex toys, provides a shoulder to cry on, and shows no signs of wanting to begin a relationship. He isn't gay, as some would think. He's just waiting for the right one.
Zane is bipolar, therefore, he could be laughing at all your jokes and suddenly become moody, wanting to disappear from sight. When he's in one of his moods, he tends to be very disagreeable and prefers not to be troubled during these periods. It can normally be fixed by taking a nap or peering into a book.
Physically, Zane is slim. He has some semblance of upper and lower body muscle, suited to his height of six feet zero inches. He wears glasses, for both reading and sight. He has a butterfly shaped birthmark on his right side, which he is quite fond of. He's not lazy, and does the occasional pushup and crunch.
Zane is a lover of music and a bookworm with an appreciation for the finer things in life, such as quotes, still life photography and abstract art pieces. He absolutely adores chocolate of the Swiss variety and will pay top dollar for it to be imported. Not surprisingly, Zane possesses an intense love for animals, and keeps as his prized possessions an encyclopedia on animals and a pack of animal flash cards.

SAMPLE:
"Wow. This place is bigger than my old room! Like, much bigger." Zane stared at the walls in amazement, already imagining posters of animals and a bookshelf full of books. Indeed, the room was twice the size of his old one. But it lacked memories. The thought of home made him frown.
"Better get used to it. This is where you'll be for a good while." the recruiter at the door told him.
"Thanks for the save. I was getting tired of the taunts. Real tired."
"You're welcome." The door closed behind him. Zane cast one more look around the room and walked over to the window, peering out at the hills. The air was fresh, and delightfully so. So far, the majesty of his surroundings had not ceased to dazzle him. His musings were interrupted by the rumbling of his stomach, leading him to wonder what the food here was like. If anything, like a cat to butter, it would tie him to this place. And maybe later, he could consider checking out their facilities and maybe sign up for something. Hopefully, they had an expansive library. And a friendly librarian. Also, considering that this most likely isn't a school for normal people, that there be at least one person like him. It would give him a sense of feeling at home.
Zane returned to his room, stomach full and already a few thoughts as to what he would be doing here. He could tell that life here wouldn't be bad at all. He had yet to unpack, but that could be arranged after his nap.
