Lost and No Pun Around

[Cyril Kingsley]

Cyril was lost, so lost that instead of ending up in the different shops he needed to go to today to get a few errands done, he ended up in the park. He was not even from here, let alone even born in the United States. Sure he had his citizenship thanks to the help of Bellefonte Academy, but he was from the UK. He only moved over here because of his little sister and the job opportunity with the horses. He was still getting down the area around the school and since he had not actually made any adult friends on campus he didn't have anyone he could reach out to for some help with getting around the town. Sure there were maps, but his cat had gotten ahold of it and it was pretty much shredded. Having a shredded map and following it was most likely the cause as to why he was in her current predicament.

I'm going to be forever lost and die in the park. No...I won’t be able to get back to the horses and feed them. They will starve! Students will not look after them all that well! Well...some of them will, but still! Plus my cat! Cyril thought in a sort of panic mode, but he had a snack to help him regain his calm. Pulling out a banana he had in his backpack and began munching on it as he wondered around. Sure he could use his power to just 'float' up high enough to see where he was, but he remembered not everyone in the town were mutants and even with the whole SPECTRE thing he was still not dumb enough to just go off and showing what he really was. He may not have gone to school at Bellefonte, but he was not stupid. So that meant her was going to just have to go ask someone for some help.

That someone took on the form of a woman that Cyril did not really get a good look at as he walked over to hear as he finished up his snack. "If I could apeel to your best nature, can I have a moment of your time miss?" Cyril asked holding up his banana peel a little for his pun, not really able to help it and snickered a little because it was funny. Now closer he had a good look at the woman, well at least her face and the words just slipped out. "You might have to sue me for using this line, but did it hurt when you fell from heaven to give me directions?" Cyril asked as he smiled a little, his blue eyes seeming to twinkle a little.

Reid wasn't sure what exactly got her to smile when she turned around. It was a tie between the accent, the pun and the face the pun and accent came from. But the smile was genuine and her amusement was definitely apparent.

"Oh God." She started when he played out the line. "I definitely need to sue you for that awful line." She shook her head and chuckled. Scratching the back of her head, she gave the man a once over and then looked back up at his face. And boy what a pretty face it was.

"Where do you need to go?" She asked, trying to control her smile.

Cyril had a huge smile on his face right now, since the woman standing in front of him not only smiled at his pun, but she had red hair. Probably no one knew it, but he was a sucker for red hair, like outright loved woman with red hair. He knew it was part of the reason why he felt conflicted with dealing with Taylor, but this woman hear was smiling at his pun and clearly looked at least a little amused. If it was one thing to get on Cyril's good side, it was to like his puns. He loved his puns and would always chuckle a little at his own jokes; so if someone did it in return, they were good in his books. Even if they were faking it, at least they were putting forth the effort to fake it in order to not hurt his feelings or to be nice or whatever their reason for faking it.

"I'm sorry, I could not help it." Cyril admitted, really unable to help himself from using such an old line. She at least seemed to find it amusing and was not outright just walking away from him. He caught her looking him over and also took the time to give her a nice look over as well. Red hair, pretty smile, and probably around five foot six to my six foot one. Cyril thought to himself, pleased with his analysis of the woman. She even asked him where he needed to go, such a kind woman. "Wherever leads me to your heart." Cyril said and had to chuckle again at the very cheesy line and shook his head no, giving her an apologetic look.

"I'm sorry, that was very bad. I'm actually looking for a couple of places. First being where the local vet's place is." Cyril said, trying to be less of a horrible old school lines flirter for a moment, not that it would last long. Reid was a red head after all, his weakness.

"Oh it would have driven me bananas if you didn't have that handy." And as soon as she said it, Reid had to slap her forehead for the cheesiness. "Yeah, I just said that. It's a good thing I'm a cop. I can arrest myself for being a complete dork." She rolled her eyes and laughed at herself.

She couldn't discern whether the guy was for real or he was just putting on a show to get on her good side. Whatever it was, she was definitely on board. Who was she kidding, an English guy with a penchant for horrible one liners? Sign her up.

"Nah man. You're no worst than any other guy who uses his brawns rather than his brains to talk to me." She chuckled and pushed a lock of hair that had fallen into her eyes, listening to his statement. Her sense of duty kicked in right then as she heard that he was asking for directions. Since she wasn't doing anything important right then, Reid was more than happy to not just show him the directions, she offered to walk with him.

"Why don't I just show? I'm not actually a good direction giver." She chuckled as she held a hand out to indicate that they were about to move. "I'm Reid by the way. You're obviously new here, yeah?"

Oh no, she did a pun back. She was perfect. Cyril felt his smile widen as he could not help but to chuckle at her words, wishing that he had a couple of bananas for her to hold to seal the deal on it. Yet it was all talk about bananas so it worked out well for the pun and the joke. Reid spoke about it was a good thing that she was a cop because she could arrest her for being a dork. "Well then officer I'm going to have to ask you to add on being way to pretty, knowing how to fire back a good joke, and being way too kind to a stranger such as myself." Cyril said keeping his friendly smile and his accent coming out a little more since he was just really happy and this woman was being a delight to be around.

"Ah, those guys that are all muscle. Lucky for you I'm both. Muscle and brains." Cyril said as he gestured to himself and took a moment to look over his body and realized that he was wearing jeans, sneakers, a t-shirt, but had a jacket on so really she could not see his amazing bod underneath. Well it was summer time so that meant he would be able to start wearing shorts and the like. Yet he could not walk around in public without a shirt so unless he saw her at a pool or the gym it was not likely she would get to see the whole abs and chest deal. Oh well, he was in too good of a mood to be concerned with such things at the moment.

"That would be simply wonderful and I would enjoy the pleasure of your company." Cyril responded to her offer for showing him the places he needed to go, which was probably for the best. Heck unless he description of where he needed to go were really detailed, he probably still end up lost. She introduced herself and he held out him hand to do the same. "Nice to meet you Reid. Cyril Elias Kingsley here and very new." Cyril admitted with a slightly embarrassed chuckle since he was not around from here and just felt a little out of place and ashamed that he was so lost. Yet not too upset because it landed him with a very pretty cop with red hair, a great personality, and she was oh so willing to help him out in his time of need so he was happy to start following her.

Throwing a hand to cover her face in embarrassment, Reid could feel her cheeks heat up at the continuous praise the man doled out. "Oh jeez, stop it." She snorted and shook her head, quite aware that her cheeks were now pretty red.

"Oh really?" She raised an eyebrow as she looked him up and down. And even with the layers of clothing, Reid could see what he meant. Which was very unfair. And there she was with a messy ponytail, her ratty jeans and a grey band tee. Yeah, what a good first impression.

The man's seemingly polite nature was a delight to the telekinetic but it was very embarrassing as well. She did not grow up with this kind of treatment from anybody but adults so it coming from someone her own age was strange.

"Pleasure is all mine, Cyril. Don't get that many Cyrils here." Reid noted as she walked in the direction of the vet. "How did you end up here though?"

She covered her face, Cyril assuming she was hiding, but not sure why. Why would such a pretty girl want to hide away? Had he said something wrong? No, she was embarrassed, but in a good way he assumed by the blush on her cheeks. Good, he didn't like mess things up with this one already. He was a bit nervous with dealing with woman after his last meeting with Taylor, not sure if he was actually coming off as sexiest or some woman hating man. He loved woman and was not sexiest at all. Anywhere a man could go a woman should have been allowed to go as well. Except the men’s bathroom because well he didn't want just anyone seeing his pride and joy. Thinking about it as pride in joy was a bit odd so he pretended like he never even thought it.

"Sorry, just trying to help an officer out with her arrest. Have to make sure you charge someone for all the crimes they are committing, yes?" Cyril asked still keeping his tone light and friendly. He nodded a lot with a pleased grin when she asked if his whole having the brain and the body were true. He liked to think he had a bod or else he would not have walked around without a shirt on. Plus he liked to think he had brain as well since he did have his veterinarian degree. That was some years at school, medical training and all of that wonderful jazz. He was not bothered at all by what she was wearing. He still found her very attractive and as one of those sayings went 'the clothing does not make the person' or something like that.

"So then I'm one of a kind. I don't know too many Reid either." Cyril pointed out as he followed along, almost skipping a little but kept himself under control. "For my sister and then for a job. I work with horses and student." Cyril said leaving it vague because he didn't know Reid was like him and didn't know if he was supposed to openly talking about Bellefonte Academy.

"Oh God." Reid rubbed the back of her neck, still out of embarrassment. There was no way she was shy about being complimented but this guy was most definitely bringing that quality out of her in bits and pieces. "I'm going to waste a lot of tickets just to write you up, sir." She chuckled, running her fingers through her bangs.

"You most certainly are." She mumbled to herself before shrugging at his next sentence. "That's mostly because most Reids are back home in Denver."

Hearing that he worked with horses peaked the redhead's interest. While she adored her job being a dog handler, she wanted to one day advance her career to being a mounted officer. Horses may not be her favourite animal but the thought of riding a horse as a job was most definitely high up on her bucket list.

"You have a riding class?" She asked, having not made the connection just yet.

"I'm sorry officer; I'll try to be on my best behavior just for you." Cyril said with a chuckle, honestly not wanting to actually get arrested even if the idea of being handcuff was sort of exciting. He was a wild boy after all so he did have his certain likes and handcuffs might have been one of them. Yet he was being a good man and not going down that route in his mind. Even if he was admiring how beautiful Reid was as she ran her fingers though her bangs. He kept his pleased and happy smile on his face as she basically agreed with his words about being one of a kind. Nodding a little at her words about how the rest of the Reid's were back in her home in Denver.

"Denver?" Cyril asked, sounding a little weird as he repeated back the word with a slight confused look on his face. "Why are you all the way here in Kalispell then?" Cyril asked, mainly just curious as to why she was here and not say back near home doing her same job there. Unless her job had not been offered there; which he would find hard to believe since dogs were all over the place. The question about a ridding class and he gave a nod yes, but then shook his head no, followed by another yes nod. "Well...sort of yes and no. I teach ridding yes and look after the horses but it’s umm..." Cyril scratched his beard, wondering how to say this without giving anything away. "I think you have to have gone to the school or worked there in order to take advantage of the stables." Cyril said followed by more scratching of his beard.

"Then again if you really wanted to I could sneak you there." Cyril offered because really how much trouble would he get in for sneaking someone on campus to see the horses. It was not like he was giving her a tour of the whole school and telling her everything about mutants and what not.

Reid bit down on her lower lip and looked at Cyril with a small grin. She was definitely liking the attention, especially if it came with a face, body and an accent like that. He may be the punniest person she had met but damn it if he didn't ooze charm as well. If she didn't get a date by the end of this, she would be sorely disappointed.

Cyril's confusion brought light to the fact that not everybody, especially someone this new, knew about her stint in Bellefonte. And oh wow did she forget that she was a mutant. And he might not be.

But as he explained why he was here, it dawned on Reid that even if he wasn't one, he probably knew a few. There was no other school in Kalispell that had a stable attached to it so either he worked at a horse-riding school or Bellefonte.

"Wait, do you work at Bellefonte?" She asked as they turned a corner that led to the vet.

Oh asking for her number and possibly meeting another time to hang out or have a 'date' of sorts. He had never been sure when to call something a date unless someone else had agreed to it being a date as well. If not then he just assumed it was just hanging out and enjoying someone’s company. He did enjoy having the company with others; maybe they could have tea together. No, that might have been too British or something, so coffee or maybe getting breakfast together. Something casual and not hinting to the pressure of anything. He did just meet the woman after all and even if he had a very weak spot for red heads, he was smart and new better then to rush into a relationship.

He was relieved to hear her question relating to if she worked at Bellefonte Academy, this meant he didn't have to dance around talking about the school. This also meant that she had to be like him and had a power because she was a mutant. After meeting Taylor however he was playing it safe and not going to ask her too many things outright. "I do. Is it safe to assume there is more that makes you special besides your looks and amazing personality?" Cyril asked with a twinkling smile, again flirting just a little bit but it was still the desired question he wanted to ask. Still walking with her as she turned the corner, happy to b getting close to one of his destination but did not wish to part with the woman just yet.

His meeting with females seemed to be so short recently and he liked woman! He wanted them to stay around a bit longer. Where his puns that bad? Nah. They were awesome pun and jokes and no one was ever going to change his mind on that. He still had other places he wanted to go. He needed to get the lay of the land.

It took Reid a bit to realise that Cyril's question was laced with with compliments as well. When it dawned on her, she couldn't help but snort before laughing and shaking her head. "Sorry. I'm not laughing at you. Just..." she shook her head and cleared her throat, trying to calm herself down. It wasn't like she wasn't used to being complimented. How unusual.

"Yeah, I'm...special. I'm guessing so are you? Or you're at least...okay with special people?" She asked, running her fingers through her hair as she was calming herself down from her earlier bout of laughter.

They were nearing where she was guiding Cyril to but Reid wasn't ready to say goodbye to the blonde. She was definitely getting his number no matter what. If he wasn't going to ask, she was going to have to get up the nerve to ask herself.

Cyril was not bothered at all by the laugher; he took it as a compliment when someone laughed around him, even if he had not done anything funny. He enjoyed laughter and laughing himself. Someone laughing around could easily send him into a case of the giggle and he would have no clue what it was he was laughing at. Even now he could not help but to chuckle as Reid laughed, follow by an apology that she was not meaning to laugh at him. "Oh don't even worry about it love. You have a beautiful laugh." Cyril pointed out, enjoying the sound of her laughter and again it was not that big of a deal to him that she was laughing in the first place. After all he did think of himself as a funny guy. She confirmed that she was special and then asked if he was the same or at least okay with people that were special. He nodded his head yes, distracted for a moment by her running her fingers through that wonderfully red hair of hers.

"I am. Gravity Manipulation. I show you, but this is not the best location to be showing off such a power." Cyril said as he gestured around them, he could do something small, but it would be better if they were around less people and not so out in the open. He had no clue where they were so didn't know that they were getting close to where he needed to go. Not like he needed to go there this second, he just needed to know where things were. "I know we just met, but would it be too early to ask if you wanted to hangout sometime?" Cyril just went ahead and asked, not being shy about such a thing as asking a woman out. He was bold after all. Plus he really, really wanted to hang out with some older people and not just the super cute little girls in his club. If Reid would say yes, then he would ask for her number, if she said no he was still going to ask for her number.

He was going to ask for her number no matter what and would make sure to plan out some way that he would be able to see this woman again even if she was not interested.

Okay, for sure this guy was full-on flirting with her and he liked her, she ascertained. It wasn't just so she would give him directions. There was definitely going to be a date happening between them in the near future and the thought made her grin widely, even more than when he said she had a beautiful laugh. Who even complimented how beautiful someone was anymore?

"Oh...kind of like mine...maybe. Sort of." She chuckled lightly. "Telekinesis. We're definitely gonna be moving something together some time." She joked, not even caring how innuendo-y that sounded.

And when Cyril asked the question she had been waiting for since he a-peeled to her better side, Reid contained her excitement and shrugged. "It's never too early." She responded with a small grin.

She took out her phone and handed it over to Cyril, looking around under the pretence of marking how far they were to their destination only to find that they were actually where Cyril had wanted to go. What a bummer.

"Um, just type in your number and I'll give you a call some time?"

Cyril tilted his head to the side a little like a confused puppy when Reid started to talk about what her power was. Something likes hers, well kind of. Then the reveal that she was a TK and then words that they were going to be moving something together sometimes. Reid did have a point in a way about their powers sort of being close. Reid was moving things with her mind, while Cyril was altering the gravity around people or objects to make them weightless. Unlike Reid he could not move thing towards him or anything, he just made things either float in the air or be crushed down into the ground. The last part of what Reid said had Cyril in a mix of smirking and just blushing a little at where his mind when for a moment. Yes, moving things together sometime. He figured he like that very much.

"I'm sure we could have a lot of fun using our abilities together sometime." Cyril responded with their possibly being a hint of something else but he left it too vague. A simple shrug and the response that it was never too early to ask such a thing. Oh that was jolly good. He would have felt like a fool if she said something else or turned him down right away. He figured he could at least read woman somewhat well enough and that the vibes he thought he felt where not just coming from him. Thankfully she had a small grin on her face so that was a good sign where the shrug could have been giving a mixed message to him. She handed over her phone and he went to work adding in his number, having to make sure to use the right number because over in the UK the numbers worked a little differently and he was still working on fully memorizing his new one for here in the states.

"I would very much love that." Cyril said with a smile, double checking that he entered the number in right before saving it and holding it out for Reid to take. That grin on his face and the twinkle in his blue eyes still not having gone away. Was it bad that he felt like a little school boy sometimes when he got a girl's number? It was an accomplishment after all since girls didn't just hand out their numbers to just anyone, right? He then looked around and spotted the place that he needed to be, but that just made him pout for a small moment. "Thank you for taking me here. I'm really grateful. Can I pay you back by maybe getting a quick bite to eat with you?" Cyril asked, not really counting this as a date. Just something like a snack maybe, likes a hot dog from a convenient store or a pretzel, or something. If she was busy he understood, he just didn't want to leave so soon after just meeting the other woman. He would however if that was for the best and didn't make things awkward or anything between the two of them.
