Doing weekly grocery shopping was actually kind of fun for Reid. It was easy because she only had to buy enough for one person and most of the time, she only had enough time for microwave dinners and ramen. Because she was a regular, and also part of the police force, most of the people who worked there already knew her.
Usually, when she went grocery shopping, she didn't actually meet other people she already knew outside of the grocery store. She kind of liked the solitude.
But she didn't find it less of a pleasant surprise when she saw someone very familiar from her past. Reid couldn't help but notice how her senior had grown into her looks. Her smile widened when she realised that the woman was busy chewing something, most probably something sweet, if memory served.
Approaching her, she wondered if the older woman would still recognise her. She had been a bit gangly and a lot awkward back then with her braces and her glasses.
"Pardon me, ma'am. But I think it's a bit illegal for you to look this good in a grocery store. I think I need to write you a ticket." She started, holding back her laughter at how ridiculously cheesy the line was. "I need to uphold my duties as an officer of the law, after all."

The grocery store, one of the many places Blake would visit without the purpose of just buying candy. She loved her candy and all, but she could not live off of it; as much as she would have liked to. So since she could not live off of candy she had to go out to get things in order to survive. Vegetables, meats, some fish food, and of course some more candy. She was already munching on some candy right now, some gummy bears she had in a little bag in her pocket. Hopefully no one thought she saw them, which was why she put them in her own little personal candy bag, but who knew how people viewed even that as she was shopping for food and reaching into her pocket munching on some gummy bears.
Sure normally people didn’t just go into the store eating things or if you were you did it in the food court or little in store fast food restaurant they sometimes had. Blake was just getting back still from her other job as a recruiter so was getting back used to everything. Blake could feel someone with a power coming closer to her, not that it was all the big of a surprise. This was a town with mutants living in it as well as the school she worked and went to. Telekinesis. Blake thought, identifying what the power was and could mimic it if she wanted to, but for now she didn't pay it any mind until she heard the voice. Recognizing it right away and it brought a small smile to her face as she chewed on the last bit of the gummy bears in her mouth so she would not talk with food in her mouth.
"Well if you are going to write me up for looking so good, then you should right yourself up as well. Not only are you breaking that law but you are just standing there looking good and not even hugging me." Blake said as she turned to full face the woman who was speaking to her. Reid Chase, man it has been a while. Blake thought, remembering already about the other woman. How could she forget the younger girl from back at school? Reid had grown into her body and Blake’s eyes did gives their little look overs before opening her arms. "I'm going to have to do what I can either way to get out of that ticket. If I mess up my hair, will that work?" Blake asked teasingly.

Reid laughed at Blake's response, seemingly going back into old patterns with ease. She approached the woman and pulled her into a hug, laughing at her attempt to 'get out of a ticket'.
"Good God Blake, I would not want to be your arresting officer." She said through her chuckles, holding Blake at arm's length just to look at the woman she had admired during their school years. "Damn, you look great." She shook her head in disbelief before pulling the woman back in the friendly embrace.

Blake remembered Reid well, not the kind to forget a face, but more so the type to forget events from time to time. A name might have been forgotten here and there, but not with people she went to school with. Reid had been a grade under Blake but that did not really stop the two of them from being friends since age was just a number to Blake. Plus Reid was a very interesting girl and Blake had always enjoyed the others company. It had been years now since they last seen each other since Blake had been mostly focusing on her recruiter job, but after what was going on at the school, she could no longer worry about bringing kids to the school, but training and protecting the ones that were already at the school.
Pulled into a hug Blake gave Reid and big squeeze back and took in the memories of the past that came with it. "No? Why not? Would having to search me be too much for you?" Blake asked in a teasing manner back at her friends comment about not wanting to be the one to arrest her. Reid pulled back a little and was getting a good look at Blake who was now doing the same and chuckled at Reid's words. "You are one to talk. Have you looked in the mirror lately or anywhere you can see the sexy reflection of yours?" Blake asked with a friendly smile, being pulled back into the embrace and embraced Reid back before pulling back to get an even better look at Reid.
"I have been well. I’m getting back from doing a lot of recruiting and settling back in to this good old place." Bake said as she reached into her little bag and got some more gummy bears, offering Reid some. "All grown up Reid; what have you been up to?" Blake asked keeping her smile, in a really good mood now. Sure she figured someone in the police line due to the words Reid used when talking about resting Blake. Unless that was code for some kinky talk and wanting to use handcuffs.

Reid chuckled at the tease, narrowing her eyes in amusement at the older woman. "Don't chat me up like that. You're too good for me and I will ruin you." Reid replied easily. She may be straight but she definitely appreciated the feminine beauty.
Hell, she loved herself enough to know that.
Hearing that Blake had gone to become a recruiter made Reid smile. She was perfect for the job. With such a sweet disposition, Reid was so sure she didn't have much trouble recruiting.
The question of what she had been up to had Reid smiling a little bit with pride. "I'm a cop now." She answered. "Well, police dog handler but I go out on the field every now and then. Hence," she gestured to the bruises on her face and neck with a sheepish grin.
"So...how's the school been? What with recent events and all?"

Blake chuckled at Reid’s words and shook her head; amused that Reid was being, well Reid. Not that she had a problem with any of that, but she was a little disappointed inwardly that Reid was straight. Meaning that Blake would never get a chance to have fun with the other girl in such a way, but that was not a problem at all. She liked Reid in such a way that their friendship the way it was perfect and she would not have it any other way. Blake of course was Pansexual and didn’t see sex of someone as something that would get in the way of anything. It was more the personality that she was into and less what they were born as or even identified herself as. She didn’t care about all of that, but went with the normal because doing anything else just made things complicated and took effort.
Reid would have been wrong to think that Blake used her sweet side in her recruiting job; Blake was cold and was all about getting in there, letting the parents and the child know what was going on, and getting out of there. Jobs like that she wore her Scorpion dog tag. At the moment she was wearing her Yen and Yang dog tag, the one she wore most often when she didn’t know if she was going to be dealing with people. Plus it was just the default and first dog tag that she had gotten. Blake eyes widen a little at hearing the job that Reid had. A cop; one with a dog, but a job still was just as dangerous. You just had a partner who was a canine and could not actually talk or anything, but they had a killer bite, great sense of smell, and could move faster than a normal human partner would. “What’s your dog’s name?” Blake asked curiously since she did have a love of dogs, especially those of the larger breeds.
Reid said that she went out into the field from time to time and showed the bruises on her face and neck that had Blake a little worried. Wondering if she was going to have to switch up the dog tag she was wearing as she reached out carefully as if wanting to touch the marks. “Damn Reid. You can’t be marking up your beautiful body like that.” Blake said sort of joking to make light of the situation but she was worried about her friend, even more so if she was ending up with bruises. “I’m going to have to take you home and put ice on you.” Blake said with a smile, meaning it in all honesty and would come to her friend’s aid if she ever needed to. No matter the danger.

Being asked about her dogs perked Reid way up before she started prattling. "Okay so I've got like twelve dogs in training. Three gigantic German Shepherds called Daisy, Shep and Cross. Oh wait, I'm like totally a proud mama and have all their pictures in my wallet. I'm sorry I'm gonna bore you with them all." She chuckled to herself as she took out her family photo album.
Most people she talked to would just rush away at this point but most of the time, Reid was too busy just rattling off their names that she would only realise she was talking to herself when she was done with the names.
Poor Blake was no different as Reid started pointing out who was who. Like the oldest of the pack, a Bloodhound called Vlad, the second oldest Lab Retriever Clooney, the twin Dobermans Lex and Clark, the new Doberman Tywin, the Australian Shepherd Chaser, the two Rottweilers Jack and Daniel, the two Belgian Malinois' Waffles and Syrup, and of course the three aforementioned Germans Daisy, Shep and Cross.
She hadn't even realised Blake had offered to help with the bruises as she talked affectionately of her babies. She even injected a little occupational anecdotes that she was sure only she found interesting.
By then, she would have been surprised if Blake was still there.
[So terribly sorry for the abundance of links xD Reid does love her bebehs ^^]

Soon and Blake brought up the dog Reid seemed more than happy to go on about them, even pulled out her wallet with pictures of them all. Blake could not help but to chuckle a little at how excited Reid was about talking about the dogs she was working with, showing off the pictures and going on about them. Blake didn't really mind it at all, knowing Blake back when they were in school together she understood that when something made Reid happy or she was excited about she would go on about it. Sure others might have walked off, but Blake was in no rush and was happy to stick around to look at the photos and listen to what her friend had to say about each dog. She moved a little closer to get a good look at the photos and remained silent as she ate her gummy bears why Reid talked.
Twelve dogs she had to work with, that had to be interesting things to deal with but from the photos they didn’t look like puppies or anything so the job could not have been too hard. Then again even older dogs could still act like puppies and if they didn't have the proper training would be a handful. Yet, by the way Reid was talking about them; it was clear that she knew what she was doing and fully enjoyed her job, which was good. Blake had to blink a few times to keep up with all the names that went with each dog and knew she was pretty much going to forget all of them except for maybe two. She really wanted to get a dog of her own, she had been craving a bit of her old life before she went to the school but living on campus she was not able to keep a large dog with her. There was the thought of moving into town, but it was a bit easier to get to things when she was living on campus.
"Wow, that’s a lot of dogs Reid. Think I will ever get to meet any of them in person some day?" Blake asked once there was a pause in Reid speech of sorts. She really did admire Reid for having such passion for her job as well with the dogs. It was important to have such passion in your work and while Blake might not have seemed like it all the time, she did enjoy both her jobs at the school.

Blinking at Blake still being there, Reid chuckled sheepishly when all her companion said was that she worked with a lot of dogs. She scratched her forehead in slight embarrassment before looking back at Blake with a grin. "That is totally a lot of dogs. I might have also said twelve when I meant thirteen. I meant I handle and train thirteen dogs." She chuckled.
"Oh, you can come to the precinct any time. And if you want, you could join me whenever I bring them out-" she paused when an elderly man tried to get past them. Reid's face contorted a little as she pulled her cart away from the middle of the aisle so the man could pass.
"I'm pretty sure we're clogging up the aisles. Do you want to maybe continue with this at a cafe outside?"

"That’s still a lot of dogs. Also a unlucky number if you are into that sort of thing." Blake pointed out with an amused chuckled at Reid's embarrassment over it all, still same old Reid. Cute as ever always was able to bring a smile to Blake's face. Thinking already back to being in school with Reid and how Reid seemed to like hanging out with Blake, even if Blake was in a grade higher than her and all. Reid offered that Blake could come by anytime and that Blake could even join her when Reid would take them out. Man that did sound like a lot of fun. Blake was already picturing how it would be and feeling excited about the idea of being able to play with some dogs again after so long. "I would really like that. So long as I don't get you into trouble." Blake said, knowing she had a habit of sometimes pushing people into things that might have gotten them into trouble.
It was fine when they were kids, but now that they were adults she had to be a little more careful. An elderly man came out and Reid moved out of the way while Blake watched the man closely. Not giving him a dirty look or anything, just watching him and listening in in case he would mutter anything ruined or anything distasteful. If it was one thing that Blake was bad at, was they if someone said something she did not like about one of her friends...well she was Blake. Didn't matter how old the person was either, she was not scared to dish it out with someone old or young. Reid was here so she could handle the whole arresting Blake if she really needed to. Plus it would have been interesting to be put in cuffs by your friend.
"Sure, meet you there after I buy my things so I don't have to worry about having to go back to shopping?" Blake asked since she pretty much had everything she needed already and just needed to go to the checkout to pay. Could carry her bag then to either drop off in her care or just take them to the cafe and still enjoy a drink with her friend. It was really good to see Reid either way and Blake was pretty much game for whatever she had to do in order to at least finish up a proper reunion.

"It is." Reid chuckled, pushing back her bangs out of habit. "And I don't believe in superstition much. Although the newest member Tywin is awfully troublesome. But I'm chalking that up to him being new." She shrugged with a small grin.
"What? Nah, of course you won't get into trouble. It would be nice to have company when I go on walks. Usually my colleagues don't actually come with me on the walks because they have other things to do. So I volunteer." She admitted.
Offering the other woman a thumbsup, Reid nodded. "I'll wait for you at the entrance." She said with a smile before they went their separate ways for awhile. Reid zipped through the aisles and grabbed the things she needed and paid for them, subsequently moving them all to her car before loitering around the entrance to wait for Blake.
When she caught sight of the older woman, Reid approached her. "Do you need help bringing them over to your car?"

“I’m sure it is the fact that they are just knew and not because they are unlucky thirteen.” Blake said keeping her smile, amused at the thought that the dog could possibly be evil just because he was the thirteenth dog. Blake was not really superstitious either but that didn’t mean she would go walking under ladders or anything. Sure stepping on cracks and having a black cat cross your path was fine and well, but if even building never used their thirteenths floor, well nor would she. Blake smiled a little more at hearing that she would not get in trouble for going with Reid to hang out with the dogs.
Blake found it interesting that her fellow workers would be too busy to help her out. She understood in a way, yet Reid was an attractive woman and there had to be at least someone who would miss a little work in order to spend a little more time with the red head. “Well then you just give me a date and time and I’ll be there.” Blake offered up because even if she was really busy she was confident enough that she could flex or bend her schedule a little bit if she needed to. Not like she was getting in a ton of students at the moment that needed training. Blake gave a nod to Reid saying she catch her up at the entrance Blake went back to what she was doing. Picking up just a few more things, heading to checkout, paying and grabbing her bags. She didn’t have too many and they were not all that heavy so she just went for carrying them instead of using a cart.
Reid was waiting for her at the front like she said she would meet her, Reid offering to help with her bags. “I can handle it. I’ll save having you as a lackey for later.” Blake teased of course, thinking back to the times when she would have underclassmen do things for her, nothing big like homework or anything and she was not bully or anything. Just like pick her up a drink and she would pay for a drink for them as well. Either way Blake went off to her car, got everything loaded in, and after making sure things were locked headed back over to Reid. “Lead that way. I’m still trying to remember it all.” Blake said as she gestured around them. She had been gone for a while so it was just taking a little bit to remember where everything was. Plus some things might have changed since she was a student, she didn’t think by much, but still.

"Oh yeah, I don't doubt that but you never know." Reid teased, chuckling a little. Anybody who knew her would know she would never really speak ill of any of her dogs no matter how misbehaved they were.
She smiled widely when Blake agreed to come over to the precinct, nodding in agreement that she would definitely let her know when and what time they would meet. "Why don't you give me your number so I can call you up if my schedule isn't too tight?"
Nodding when Blake refused her help, Reid stepped aside and let her unload her groceries in her car. She busied herself with checking her bag and going through her phone to see if she had anything planned. Finding nothing, she smiled and waited for Blake's return.
When the older woman came back, Reid was all smiles, nodding when Blake told her to lead the way.
"Where did you go after you graduated, by the way?" Reid asked as they made their way to the nearest coffee shop.
Post by Blake Harlow on Jun 16, 2014 18:56:04 GMT -6
"True." Blake responded because not long ago people didn't know about mutants or even would believe they were real if they heard about them. As the old saying went 'anything was possible' and that seemed to hold true in a lot of areas. Something that was not true or thought to be ever possible did not always stay that way. Science could never really hold firm to everything as a fact because there would be something that would pop up that would disprove something that was believed to just be fact. Long ago people thought it was a fact that the Earth was flat and people burned because of thinking differently. Not that all these thoughts mattered or anything, Blake's mind having gone off there for a moment as she went back to munching on gummy bears.
"Is that the only reason you want my number?" Blake teased of course with a smile as she pulled out her phone and handed it over to Reid so she could add herself as a contact and would do the same with Reid's phone if the other woman handed it over. She would have given Reid her number in the past but Blake had a few number changes over the years and lost touch with a few of her friends over the years because she was bad at transferring all the contact information over to her new phone. Once that was done Blake went to loading her groceries into her car pretty quickly and closed the trunk door, locking it up and went back to Reid who was smiling. Reid giving a nod and then leading the way as Blake would follow her friend towards where they were going to hangout for a little bit.
"I was asked to be a trainer and a recruiter for the school, so I took up the recruiter job first. Traveling the USA and sometimes to other parts of the world to go pick up students. Then when I was twenty one came back to do some training before going back to the whole traveling recruiter job." Blake answered, figuring that she gave a bit too much information and that she might have been doing too much talking. "What about you? Did you remain around here all these years?" Blake asked, honestly curious to what her younger friend did after having to go through one more year of school at BA before she would graduate.

Reid simply smiled in response to Blake's agreeing. It didn't really need a verbal response, she thought to herself.
Blake's tease had Reid chuckling, thinking of the huge possibility that flirting could definitely end up turning into something else. Was she really sure she was completely straight? She'd experimented a little after breaking up with her long term boyfriend and she knew she liked it so...
She cleared her head with a mental shake before responding to Blake. "Prepare for midnight stalking and booty calls, Blake. You've been warned." She teased back. She added Blake's number before giving her own number a call to save Blake's in her phone. She took a quick snap of Blake's face and saved her as important contacts before she let Blake leave to unload her groceries.
Reid listened carefully to Blake's answer, nodding as she realised that she might have been the only one in their graduating class who stayed in Kalispell after graduating from Bellefonte.
"Yeah, actually. I joined the PD immediately after school, went through my training, got promoted. I might just be the only one in our batch that stayed. At least as far as I know anyway." Sharing too much information was never a problem with Reid. She did it herself and she didn't see what was wrong if someone else did it. Especially someone she had known for a long time.
Finally reaching the coffee shop, Reid let Blake enter the premise first as she scanned the place for an empty spot. "Why don't you go sit while I get our drinks? So we don't lose a spot."
