To be honest with himself, Felix was glad that Franck was staying behind. Within the walls of the Academy he'd be safe, secure from the horrors at that surely awaited the radio host at the facility. Franck... Felix wanted to protect him as much as he wanted to protect Erika... And the thought of coming home to his friend was a comforting one; He was going to need someone to hold onto, since he doubted Erika would be in any fit state to support him. He knew it was wrong to lean on the boy like that... But Felix was barely coping as it was. He needed him.
Felix chuckled at the boy's comment, the attempts at making the atmosphere light hearted atmosphere going some way to help him; Anything to forget the current situation, to forget what lay ahead. Felix just wanted to forget the fear... To momentarily forget how scared he was, no matter how fleeting the moment. He looked down at his hand as Franck took hold of it, noting the small, white lines of scaring across his skin, most long old; He really should try to be more careful when modifying equipment. He watched as his friend carefully tended to his hand, flinching slightly when the cream was applied, although the initial sting faded quickly as the coolness of the substance calmed the angry flesh. A smile stretched across his lips as Franck entwined layers of bandage around the wound, taking note of how gently he did so. His touch was comforting... But Felix suspected that anyone's calm, warm touch right now would be comforting in the state he was in.
He raised his eyeline as Franck began to speak, the radio host's smile fading as he gazed at the boy, his eyes slightly widened; He could hear the worry in the boy's voice, the fear lacing his words. He was just as scared as Felix was... That he was never going to come back to the Academy again, that he was going to die out there. He bit his bottom lip, fighting back the sudden rush of heat to his face as a gloss seeped over his eyes. He'd spent HOURS fighting back the urge to cry, pushing all of the fear to the back of his mind... And yet a few words of worry from Franck and everything came rushing forward. "Franck..." He began, before taking a deep, slow breath, managing to smile weakly. "Like I'd leave you to deal with all of this by yourself! And I still owe you a night out in Kalispell..." He chuckled a little, looking down a moment and blinking his eyes quickly to try and valiantly battle the threat of tears.
"I... W-Well... Oh, just come here." He suddenly wrapped his arms tightly around his friend, pulling him close and resting his chin on his shoulder. "Just... Just let me hold onto you a moment, okay?"
