SAMPLE: I am Puppy. Ya'll know my bark
NAME: Gabriela Janine Moreau
NICKNAME: Do NOT call her “Gabby” or any variation. Gabriel is as short as she allows her name to be.
AGE: 18
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Pansexual
POSITION: Bellefonte Student
FACE CLAIM: Ariana Grande
POWER:
Overview: Gabriela is a pyrokinetic of ample potential. Her genetic mutation allows her to create and manipulate fire at will.
-Pros
Gabriela's power manifests in two ways. The first is by creating a simple gout of flame using her hand. Using this aspect of her power, Gabriela should ultimately be able to manipulate flame in ways impossible by normal means. She's shown a capability to one day be able to twist and loop her manifested fire around obstacles to a given target. The second manifestation is the pyrokinetic method of setting objects (or people) ablaze. This takes concentration from the girl and, depending on her state of mind, could take seconds or minutes to achieve.
-Cons
While an extremely potent power Gabriela has virtually no control over it as of yet. High stress situations can (and probably will) cause violent outburst beyond her control. Purposeful use of her power quickly causes fatigue due to the effort needed to exhibit even a small amount of control. Furthermore, Gabriela is NOT immune or overly resistant to fire, even her own manifested flames. Once the fire is created it is just as deadly to her as anyone else. Due to this, her hands are littered with small scars from the back lash of her power. To further complicate matters regarding her power, Gabriela is extremely pyrophobic. She'd never been comfortable around open flame but the apprehension and fear over the dangerous nature of her mutant abilities has driven that discomfort into a full-blown, pathological phobia. As a result, Gabriela has done little in the way of training her power beyond suppression.
For all intents and purposes, Gabriela Moreau grew up as a normal, happy girl in Redding, a small city nestled in the hills of Northern California. Her upbringing was modest by many standards but her parents did their best to provide a stable, happy home for their daughter to grow up in. There were dark spots in life, just as with any family. Gabriela's parents dealt with many of the pitfalls and obstacles young couples face. Through financial struggles to marital problems, the Moreau's persevered with determination and a reliance on one another for support. When she was 14, Gabriela began working summers through a job acclimation program through a local junior college to help support herself and her family.
Much as life has a habit of doing, everything changed for the Moreau's shortly after Gabriela's 15th birthday. After a minor fit of anger directed toward her poorly functioning laptop one day resulted in the device being set ablaze and the resulting fire caused significant damage to her family's home. When reports came out the origins of the fire were unknown, the red flag was sent up the chain and within a week a recruiter from Bellefonte was at the door to the family's hotel.
The thought of leaving her family was a heartbreaking one for young Gabriela, but she was convinced to do so for her own good by her similarly morose parents. Gabriela maintains a strong bond with her parents and her younger sister and communicates with them regularly. Even though she's been a student at the Academy for over two years, her roots are still firmly planted in Northern California and longs for the day when she can return home. She's even managed to maintain a fairly healthy relationship with her boyfriend despite the time and distance.
Gabriela is a thoughtful, passionate young woman who tries to bring energy to everything she does. She's fiercely independent not out of necessity, rather, individuality had been a staple of her parent's teachings. She despises gossip and talking about people when they're not around and focuses a great deal of energy on maintaining a healthy balance in her life while exercising her right to remove herself from the myriad instances where drama and controversy attempt to rear their ugly heads. Her fashion sense (or lack thereof) is usually firmly entrenched in comfort before style. Jeans, shorts, and t-shirts will almost always be selected instead of a dress or trendy sweater. That's not to say she doesn't enjoy being a girl and lacks appreciation for dressing up once in a while. It's simply the belief that day-to-day attire should lean more toward function, not fashion.
Fire of any type visibly disturbs Gabriela. Even watching it on TV makes her uncomfortable and open flames will send her into a panic. This conflicts greatly with her pyrokinetic powers and has resulted in Gabriela's crippling fear of not only her power, but the destruction it can cause. Nightmares of hurting those she loves, or herself being wreathed in undying flame haunt her nights. She refuses to take medication, but willingly obliges to her regular, Academy appointed therapy sessions.
