Dates usually involved only two people. That was, in fact, more or less the definition of a date: going out with someone special, someone significant, someone singular. Yet that wasn't exactly an option for Zoe, not any more, what with her being under constant surveillance. She'd tried to talk them out of it, to say that she'd be with Devyn and that Devyn would most likely protect Zoe from just about anything. That didn't work. Which was why Zoe had a shadow, one of the Academy security who kept following her. Worse, she hadn't been able to get Mr. Konrad or anyone she actually knew. She did recognize this one though: a woman who didn't seem to really care all that much for Zoe, one way or the other. She'd been there since Zoe and Devyn had left the school grounds.
And that had been awkward enough. Zoe had dressed as cute as she could, opting for what amounted to her "date outfit": cute denim skirt, tights, long-sleeved black and white striped shirt. There wasn't a whole lot of variation that Zoe could really bring anymore, not with her still depleted outfit. Yet despite that, Devyn felt... different. It was as if someone had erected a wall between the two of them. Things had just been off ever since they'd put together that prank and, well, done other... things. Zoe had been putting it off, insisting that they just focus on enjoying one another's company. She actually had what she thought would be a fun idea, get their mind off things.
Though now that they were in town, Zoe could tell there were some things that could not be put out of Devyn's mind. She sighed and moved to take her girlfriend's arm. "She has to follow us, well, me, you know that," she said, looking over her shoulder at the security person, who met her eyes with a firm stare. "She's usually quiet; we can just pretend she's not there," Zoe tried, tugging at Devyn's arm. "We'll have fun and we'll forget all about her." though they did still get a few looks. That happened nearly every time they went out into public though: side effect of two pretty women strolling around outside.
