So it turned out that you could hire a matching band. Frank had always sort of known it, but she hadn't really had a reason till until now. Now, however, she had a full band out and more or less following her around the courtyard. They paused every once in a while, mostly when Frank stopped. She'd had a few false tries already. once, she'd dropped down to one knee for a guy, but said guy had then sprinted in the opposite direction. Sure, Frank followed him for a few yards, screaming "LET ME LOVE YOU" at the top of her lungs, but that only made him run away faster, for some reason.
Now though, now Frank was on the prowl for another, slightly more willing victim. She finally found someone, and she threw herself in front of them. She slid to one knee fairly effortlessly, reached into her pocket, pulled out a ring pop, and then gestured for the band. They began playing something that sounded vaguely like a pop song. Another appeared to wave a fan at Frank to make her hair blow in the wind. She gave it a good shake for good measure, then looked up at the person.
"You, you love of my life," she said, already smiling, unable to hold it in, "will you make me the happiest woman on Earth? Will you marry me?"
Yep, this was really happening. this is not an AU thread. This is real. Well, it's Frank, but it's still really happening.
So far Lilly's day had been full of ups and downs, meeting lots of new people as she explored the place she would not be calling home to get to know it. It was uneventful for the most part but she thought she was almost finished checking everything out. She rounded a corner and was met with a marching band and a woman she had not met yet, she kneeled in front of her and... proposed? A look of supreme confusion crossed her face as she looked around to make sure it was her that was being talked to and she looked down at the women. "Err.. I think you may have proposed to the wrong person lady, I have not met you before..."
She took half a step back to ensure she was out of grabbing or touching range and give a small smile. "I'm sorry for walkin into your surprise though, hopefully the person you meant it for says yes. Though the band is a big intimidating..."

"whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" Frank practically screamed, hopping back up. Okay, it was a girl, a sorta cute redhead that Frank had never seen before, but that changed nothing, nothing! "are you saying that I'm not cute enough to marry? I am freaking adorable!" She turned to the nearest band member, who happened to be lugging a tuba, because funny, most likely. "Tell her I'm cute," the guy looked confused for a few seconds, which was long enough for Frank to look back at the girl.
"And the surprise is for you, duh," Frank rolled her eyes. She still hadn't gotten off her knees, "I'm not an idiot," a few of the band members chuckled at that. Frank ignored them. "So c'mon, you should be all like 'yes, Frank, I will marry you! And it's totally not because you're stupid rich either!' and probably some giggling or something. I don't know for sure how this works. I haven't really done it all that much before now."
Lilly jumped in surprise at the scream and took another step back "Uhh... no, I am not saying that, You are plenty cute but you have not even taken me out on a date yet and you dont even know my name! How are you supposed to marry someone you don't know the name of?!?!" She decided to play along with this for now just to see where it would head, a small smile playing across her lips. "I am flattered though, I have never had anyone propose to me or give me any kind of surprise ever so that is kind of nice. Also if you were to touch me I would probably accidentally freeze you, that could make our honeymoon awkward! We have to think about these kinds of things before we commit to this big decision."
She placed her hand on her chin and thought, at least she was told that. "If you can figure out the freezing issue, and maybe even give me a romantic kiss I will consider saying yes." She said with a grin, her two different colored eyes eyes have a small twinkle of entertainment to them. "Unfortunately I don't giggle to much."

"Well, duh," said Frank, rolling her eyes, "you find out all the details in your honeymoon; that's what it's all about," okay, so obviously there were a few holes in Frank's brilliant plan here, mostly involving details that most normal people would have already thought over a few times before even thinking about doing something this ridiculous and out there. And, again, the various marching band members within earshot were giving each other looks that clearly communicated this.
"and there's always ways of working out the whole touching thing," said Frank, pausing to consider. 'But I don't know if I'd wanna kiss your or anything. I mean, you're cute an' all, but I'm not really into girls,' which was obviously yet another aspect of this whole plan thing that Frank had clearly not spent nearly enough time figuring out. One of the band members close to her played a few notes to the "old" Katy Perry song: "I Kissed a Girl," which had Frank jumping. She grabbed her "fiance's" hand, not caring that some kinda freezing thing was likely to start spreading quick (have we not made it clear that Frank does not think things through at this point)
"C'mon then! Everyone's seen the Disney movies; you have to have a romantic song number first!" she gestured and the band started. Frank cleared her throat, before warbling in perhaps the most off-key, out of tune, just plain bad way possible:
"This was never the way I planned not my intention I got so brave, drink in hand lost my discretion it's not what I'm used to just wanna try you onnnn I'm curious for you caught, my attention!" all with accompanying "dancing." The band, who had been paid to play anyway, caught on quick enough, shifting. They were apparently talented, or at least prepared with a few songs (which meant that at least someone had figured that this might happen; clearly they knew Frank; look, just go with it, okay?)

The confused look went across Lilly's face once more. "So if your not into girls then why are you asking one to marry you. If we went on a honeymoon then we would be doing a lot more then just kissing wouldn't we?" Lilly's eye's went wide in panic as Frank grabbed her hand and she tried to tug her hand away as quickly as possible. "What are you doing you eejit I told you that I would freeze you if I touched you! You could lose your hand! Let go please! I don't want to accidentally hurt you!"
Normally Lilly would be all for singing and dancing but this all was to much and she frankly (lol) felt overwhelmed by it all. She hope Frank would let go of her hand so she didn't get frost bite and end up losing some fingers, or worse the entire hand, but the other girl was holding on pretty tight and Lilly was having a rough time pulling it free herself.

Frank ignored the protests about the whole girl thing and honeymoon, mostly 'cuz she'd totally already addressed that. She was much more determined to launch into her song and dance number, though she soon found the other girl freaking out. Okay, sure, Frank's hand was starting to turn blue and kinda tingling, but was that really a reason to get that upset? Especially considering that Frank let go as she really got into the dance number.
And she paused then, staring down the other girl, waiting, the music sort of hanging in the air for a bit. Frank looked at the band, then at the girl. "This is totally your part," she said in a stage whisper. "You're supposed to pick up at the super popular chorus and stuff. You know, the one everyone knows and junk?"
Lilly shook her head. "I don't think I will. I don't know the song first of all and second of all I think I am going to have to decline the proposal. I am not sure I am ready to be married yet, I am only 17 after all. I wish you luck in finding someone who will say yes though." She started to slowly walk backwards away from the other woman, thinking she was not quite right in the head and wanting to get farther away from her before she decided to do something really dangerous like hug Lilly or something.

There was only so far that Lilly could really back away, considering the whole marching band looming nearby and stuff. Frank did motion for them to stop playing, since there wasn't much point in playing a song the other girl didn't know. Said girl appeared to be backing away at an alarming rate. Frank was not about to let anyone escape, nor was she a big respecter of personal space, even if said person was capable of giving the cold shoulder.
"Well, what songs do you know?" asked Frank. She took as many steps toward Lilly as the other girl took away. The band almost loomed forward, waiting for their cue. They got paid extra if they played enough songs. "I'm sure we can come up with something that we could sing together to have our moment. Because that's so the point here: making moments and memories!" Frank gestured, and a trombone went off somewhere. She glared at it till a savvy flute player played a sliding scale, which just made her grin at Lilly, arms again outstretched.
Lilly was trapped by the marching band and gave them a 'help me' look, to which they ignored since Frank was paying them and Lilly was not. "Err what songs do I know?" Lilly had to think of something that would hopefully buy her time and an opening to escape. "Do you know Báidín Fheilimí?" She hoped that her song request would do it part in her great plan to escape they will laid trap that was laid by Frank. And now to enact part two of the plan.
While Frank was approaching her with her arms outstretched and hopefully while she was confused by the song request she took a step forward instead of back and planted a kiss on the other womans lips, remembering how she said she wasn't into girls and hoping that would throw her off. Lilly knew how long she could hold the kiss before she would do any damage and she made sure to pull away before she did any harm and then tried to make her escape.

Frank nodded as Lilly repeated the question, gesturing for the band to get ready. Instruments rose, everyone tensed, and then Lilly spat out something that sounded a lot like gibberish to Frank. "Uh... I don't know if I know that-heeey, you didn't make that up, did you? 'cuz that's totally mean. I got a marching band together for a really cool moment and all; you should totally be all like 'whee, I can do a song and dance number with this totally awesome girl and have a super awesome time and--" and Frank was silenced, mostly because her lips soon found themselves pressed against another girl's. This was not a completely alien sensation to Frank, right down to the kissing to get her to shut up and kissing girls. She could practically feel several members of the crowd leaning forward to look with interest. She wasn't sure why: wasn't like there weren't plenty of hawt lesbians running around this place (or pansexuals; seemed like everybody and their sister was a pansexual around this place).
Frank didn't seem to mind, until it started to get cold. Then there was pushing and Frank working her lips. "C'mon!" she said, her words only a little slurred thanks to her very cold lips. "You said you weren't interested in marrying me! You know that they don't do the kissing thing till someone's all like 'you may now kiss the bride.' Besides, I'm way too young to get married. Engaged, sure, since that's, like, only engage," Frank shrugged. Then she frowned, raising a finger. 'You're trying to get out of the singing, aren't you? Don't make me pick a song that everyone knows. Oh, oh, I could also have them play while I dance and sing around you. I think I know a Bollywood tune or two..."
She leaned close to the nearest band member, lifting a hand to stage whisper: "Do you guys know anything from Bollywood?"

Lilly had to admit, the kiss wasn't that bad, it was pretty enjoyable actually. She didn't know what else she should have expected from it but it was a pleasant surprise. After the kiss was done she couldn't help but laugh, Frank's shenanigans were actually kind of charming after having been trapped in it for a little while now. "Ok ok. I suppose I can get engaged to you, if it really means that much..." She held out her hand for frank to place the ring pop on her finger. "And you can pick a song that everyone knows, I am drawing up blanks for songs I would like to sing at the moment."
Lilly gave the band, who looked like they were waiting for another kiss to happen, a look then turned back to Frank. "Where do you hire a marching band anyways, and one that doesn't freak out at stuff that they will probably see here, like a walking snow storm?" she asked, motioning to her herself at the last comment.

A finger was extended, and Frank again dropped to her knee. The ring pop appeared again, soon sliding onto Lilly's outstretched finger. Frank had to give it a few twists to get it on, since the candies were pretty much made for children to wear and all. She still managed though, and sat back on her feet, admiring the ring for a few moments, nodding satisfactorily.
Pick a song that everyone knows, well, Frank had sort of thought she'd done that already, but apparently Lilly's knowledge of songs extended only to strange, made up ones. Frank was already turning and gesturing, the band beginning to warm up. She paused for a moment as Lilly mentioned the whole hiring the band thing. "I think they're from this school," said Frank, looking back, "or maybe from the mysterious Canadian school or something. I think at least a few of them are..." Frank shrugged, she was tempted to shout out and ask, but they had the whole "getting a song that everyone knows" thing.
"FOR SHE'S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW!" cried Frank, gesturing. The band strummed it up, and Frank immediately moved forward, throwing an arm around Lilly (obviously forgetting the cold thing until she started actually getting cold, which made her do a pretty impressive hover-hand). And lo, there was the singing, which mostly consisted of "for she's a jolly good fellow" repeated with a "and nobody can deny" thrown in there.

Lilly winced slightly as the ring pop was stuck on her finger, it being a tight fight for her finger. The band being from this school did make sense, it was a big enough school that it probably had one. She couldn't help but laugh at the song selection and starting singing along with them while Frank did the rather impressive hover hand "So, now that we are engaged, what is next? Do we just go around as usual and such? I have never been engaged before, I actually think I am not legally old enough to be engaged yet but I don't think that matters much." she said with a shrug as she looked down at the ring pop on her finger, wondering if this would have any real implications in the future.

Frank was busy "singing" (which for her involved shouting the lyrics about a beat or two behind the band and likely behind Lilly herself) to really notice Lilly's initial questions. The band was getting into it; they were paid to, after all, though they'd been anticipating something a little more difficult than this. The noise was definitely enough to drown off any half-spoken protests.
It ended eventually, with a long, loud note that probably made most people in the area wonder if they'd done something wrong and ended up in some level of Hell. It didn't help that Frank decided the song needed something of a "breakdown" to finish. There probably would've been a rap thrown in for good measure, if Frank hadn't been derailed by seeing that Lilly was interested in the ring.
Frank pointed at it. "You can eat that," she said, nodding, "and then you won't have much of a ring anymore, so I guess that will probably mean the engagement will be over. I'll probably have moved on to another person or you'll have cheated on me by then... actually," she tapped her finger against her lip, "I don't like girls, so I'll probably do the cheating first. If you wanna do something super dramatic and throw the ring at me or something, that'd be cool though," Frank nodded, then looked at the band, who were now shifting uncomfortably, clearly wondering if they were supposed to do anything else to earn the money they'd already been paid.
