Table #3 is placed against the wall, forming a triangle with tables 1 and 2. It's still in the path of some traffic, but at least there's some distance between it and the door. It's not an ideal position, but it's certainly better than most. However, it's still a nice little table with cozy room for two. The white table-cloth is bared, save for a little placard with both a male and a female symbol on it. There's room for drinks and, as always, a pen available for making notes for later.

Add carefully took a seat at table #3, tucking her dress under her and getting situated. She figured that there was a pretty high chance of someone at least winding up here, since she appeared to have one of the better tables in the place. She wasn't entirely sure if anyone was exactly going to be looking forward to dating her, but at least they'd only have to put up with her for five minutes, which couldn't be that bad, surely. She was fairly certain that she could deduce enough about someone in five minutes to determine whether they were "datable," which struck her as odd just all around. Still, she was situated now, so she'd have to wait and see who came and joined her.

Oh, why he let Guy dragged him into this! Oh yeah, because he did the same. And now what? Honestly he wasn't sure. Get a table, he supposed. So he walked to the first he could get. Once he realized who was in front of him, he thought maybe he should have checked first. She must easily be ten years younger than he was! That was not helping with the nerve and he suddenly wished he had taken a beer with him. "Nice to meet you, I'm Jason." Please, don't think I'm some sort of pervert going after kids! Then again, the thought of Guy being older than he was and having to talk to her made it all of a sudden much easier to bear.

He carried himself well, and Add supposed that he had to be handsome by most standards. She blinked a few times at him, realizing that he'd introduced himself and she'd momentarily gotten lost in various probabilities. Her ability was definitely going to be working against her here: Add needed time to put together all the data, and time was a commodity not much allowed here. "Pleasure to meet you," she greeted, extending a hand, "I am Adelaide. I attend school at the local university. I am almost finished and older than I look though,' she paused, then determined that was a suitable enough introduction. "What is your occupation and age?" She was tempted to ask if he was still a viable breeder as well, but something told her that probably wasn't an appropriate topic to introduce just yet.

Jason mistook the time required for her before answering as hesitation, because he was too old or not her type or whatever. But as he shook her hand, she gave him many details at once. He supposed it was to be expected, as they had a limited time together before he would have to switch tables. Besides, she didn’t go talking about her ten cats or anything scary like that. And she didn’t appear overly sexual so it was another good point. So, Adelaide, university, older than she looks. Good. “I’m a doctor at the town’s hospital and I’m thirty-three if you want to know,” he answered. Alright, his turn to ask, right? “What are you studying?”
Post by Adelaide McLisk on Apr 6, 2014 15:24:18 GMT -6
"Thirty-three, so you are only a decade or so older; that is acceptable," said Add, considering it for a moment. "And doctor is quite an admirable position to achieve. I have considered entering that field myself, but I confess that medicine always puzzles me. Too many chances," she paused again, reviewing what she'd said. Add mentally encouraged herself to think faster though: she only had so much time. the problem was that her brain and her power kept insisting, just like she kept picking up data about Jason. "I have been studying many things, but I believe I am going to focus upon sociology or psychology, as I find people to be most intriguing and puzzling. Are they like that for you too? is that why you are a doctor?"

He had nothing against Adelaide, really. He did consider her a bit young and too serious-looking to be looking just for a booty call or something but you never know. The serious girls sometimes turned to be the wildest ones. Still, by the way she replied to his answers, he had his doubts. He almost wanted to sarcastically thank her for still judging him ‘acceptable’ but he didn’t want to be rude. He frowned about the chances though. “What do you mean by that?” He wasn’t certain he heard anyone calling people intriguing and puzzling, nor for this to be why they wanted to study them, but sociology and psychology were interesting fields of practice. “It kind of runs in the family,” he answered as she asked if it was not the same for him.

What did she mean by that? "I meant that you are still within a viable mating range, though I am not precisely looking for such a partner at this time, it is still something that should be taken into consideration. Furthermore, you are only a decade older, which generally falls within more socially acceptable dating norms," she paused, considering the question and what had been asked, as well as Jason's other responses. "And I find people to be one of the few things that can hold my interest. They revel in unpredictability and are rarely static, making them far more interesting than most other things I possess the capabilities or talents to accomplish." She paused again, considered her answers and realized that she should probably add something: "I apologize, I am not excellent at small talk or normal conversation patterns, so I imagine I am most off-putting to converse with or 'flirt.'" and yes, she did raise her hands up to do the air-quotes.

Now she really surprised him and if she had any doubts about it, the way his eyebrows arched high on his forehead, his eyes growing big, freezing there for a moment before they all took a relatively natural shape should convince her she took him by surprise. “I meant what were you saying with too many chances in medicine,” he finally said after a moment. He supposed he should feel lucky to still be in the ‘viable mating range’ and it made him wish Guy would end up with her after, just to laugh as he probably was not or reaching the end of it. “You seem to like logic and statistics a lot. You’re not so good with unpredictability yourself, right?” He might have been asking but it was more a statement. If so, he was ready to forgive her thinking of him as numbers and probabilities then. He even smiled as she apologized for her way of talking. “I’m not the best at small talk either, to be honest. But talking of mating capabilities might not be the best ice-breaker, I confess.” Oh well, it might not be the winning table but at least she would know for the next one.

Add nodded, agreeing with Jason's assessment regarding her logic and statistic loving. She, too, realized that she had probably flubbed this particular "date," seeing as they were essentially out of time. Still, she learned, and it was foolhearty to believe that every encounter was going to be an overly positive one. "Well, thank you for being honest with me," she said, nodding and rising, knowing that she was the one who got to vacate the table and leave it to Jason and whatever woman pounced upon him next. "I shall endeavor to avoid making capabilities in the future. I would like possibly to meet with you again, though perhaps we are not romantically compatible," she nodded. It wasn't like they had to be, after all. Add would wait only long enough for Jason's response before heading off and leaving him to his fate.

Jason could not deny that she was interesting but probably not in the way people are coming to a speed dating for. Did he want to sleep with her? No, not really. Without thinking the girl was a sociopath or anything, she clearly needed to work on her people skills. Numbers were great and all, but people were made of far more than that. He nodded as she thanked him. If he helped her, at least some of this time they had together would not have been wasted. He paused a second as she added she might like to meet with him again although probably not romantically. Yeah, romance would be weird between them, he thought. “I would like that,” he assured her. Like might be too big a word but he sure wouldn’t dread seeing her again.

Speed dating was not something that Sorcha had ever really anticipated getting into. Hanging out at bars and meeting tipsy strangers was more her style. It was a lot more casual with more potential for fun in her mind. However, after the news the Headmaster had delivered to the school the flier she'd seen advertising the event seemed very inviting. A little dash of normalcy to the life that had suddenly turned upside down. She'd decided to sign up for it, liking the idea of drinks and the possibility of some overnight fun with a stranger or two or three. Relationships weren't really her thing, but as far as she knew most people only did speed dating as a way to get laid anyway and she could live with that.
She hoped she'd dressed appropriately for the occasion, swapping out her normal shorts and tank top combo for a light sun dress with sandals. She'd opted for her sunglasses again, though she removed them once she'd gotten to the Silverlight, since mutants were now out. She was even wearing underwear.
Drink in hand, she wandered over to the first vacant table she could find that wasn't occupied by another woman and slid into the seat, giving a pleasant smile to the individual already sitting there. An older, good looking man. She thought she'd seen him around town before, though she couldn't place his face just yet. Either way she considered herself to be off to a good start. "Hello there," she greeted, placing her drink on the table as she spoke. "Having fun yet?"

Alright so this first ‘date’ was not that amazing. Then again, it was Guy who dragged him into this and he suspected it was just to laugh at his face while he had to go through all of this. For this reason, he also dragged Guy into this, to share the fun. Wasn’t that what friends were doing to each other? Still, he wished he had a beer right now, that he could empty and forget the whole feeling of being old the girl put on him, despite the fact he apparently still was in the right age to reproduce. Strange girl.
He almost dreaded who would happen next. And then... If she didn’t seem that much older than the previous one, she had something more mature going on around her. Mustn’t be a college girl or if she was, this one partied more than Adelaide for sure. He smiled to her. “Hi. It’s been... interesting,” he admitted. He couldn’t say it was awful but that sure didn’t prove to be awesome either. “I’m Jason, by the way. How has it been for you so far?”

Sorcha couldn't help but grin at the older man's choice of words. This sort of event did tend to attract strange crowds and in a place like Kalispell, so close to a mutant school, there was bound to be a real mixed bunch roaming around. Not that she particularly minded. For every oddity she encountered there was also a chance for excitement or adventure. Or at the very least an interesting story.
"Nice to meet you, Jason. I'm Sorcha. I think I might be a little late to the party. This is my first table, though I can't say I'm disappointed just yet," she said, running a finger around the rim of her glass. Handsome, well-mannered, older in the best kind of way. She could have ended up with a lot worse for her first encounter. "Your face looks awfully familiar, Jason." Familiar and rugged and handsome, too much so to be so easily forgotten. "Do you work at the school? Or maybe I've seen you around town?"

He had to give Sorcha one thing: she had the most unusual and interesting eyes he had ever seen. He knew he had striking eyes but they were nothing compared to her. You don’t naturally see golden eyes and unless she was wearing contacts to make herself interesting, he thought she probably was a mutant. But it was not a question to ask at a place like this of course. His smile grew wider and more genuine as she complimented him. Even if it was just for the form, he liked it.
He shook his head when she asked if he worked at the school. One more reason to think she was a mutant. “I work at the hospital. But I’m sometimes called when there is an emergency,” he explained. Jason however was certain he would have recognized such striking features had he met her before. “Am I to assume you work at the academy?”
