Franck wouldn’t have held Ellen’s hand if he could have helped it. But the girl grabbed it before he could do anything. His breath got caught up but he managed to restrain a gasp as he felt her emotions flowing from her to him. Luckily, the contact didn’t last very long. But it did confirmed what he thought: she liked her friend. Perhaps more than a friend normally likes you. It was how he was seeing it at least. It was hard to tell exactly when you get the emotions without their reasons. It was like watching a movie without any sound or subtitles to help you out. You could get the simplest ones right but the others required a little more info.
He waited for them to give him an English lesson with the term ‘hitting off’. Ellen was smiling at him and had he not known better he’d think she was trying to flirt. He sure had that kind of face whenever a cute guy came his way. Erika explained the term and he nodded. “So it’s just conversation? For a second, I thought you meant we flirted together,” he replied. That would have been awkward.
If François thought Ellen would find an excuse, any at all, he was surprised to see she actually had no problem with him joining them. Well, actually he could tell she had a problem with that plan. But she chose to ignore it and bring him in. Now if he wanted to leave them he’d have to be the bad guy finding some lame excuse. Not wanting to appear like that, he smiled to the girls and nodded. “Let’s go then,” he said, following the girls. Anyway, he was still holding Erika’s bag.
He smiled to Erika, glad she chose to go back to what they used to say before this awkward moment. “I will consider it. Practices mustn’t be too crowded right?” he asked. He figured it was high time he met more people from the school. He never was a solitary boy after all and he controlled his power a lot better now. He only had to avoid being touched too much or being in a thick crowd. Piece of cake.
