It was Saturday. Levi was off from work and after a relaxing day with his babies he was actually surprised he got some of his workout routine in. After a long pleasant shower the local got dressed, checked his watch, grabbed his keys and headed for his car.
What had prompted him to ask a seventy year old woman out on a Saturday night? Truthfully. He found her interesting. The simple fact that she faked a burglary just to get a person to show up at her house and then precede to invite them to join her for dinner was quite fascinating. He honestly wanted to get to know her. He also was a gentleman, and if a lady was that desperate for company well then he would grant her the company she so desires.
He had a simple night planned for the two of them. Nothing too crazy. He pulled up in front of her house and check his watch once more. Right on time. He stepped out of his truck and walked up to the front door. He began to replay the other time he was here. He let out a chuckle and rang the doorbell.
Some time in the evening, Lola Green's house phone received a call. However, she was not in the house at that time of day to answer it. The old woman had been out walking her pets -- the dog and the cat, not the tortoises -- and had only returned an hour later.
But this was all just irrelevant information because she still had hours -- well a couple -- before the young man would arrive on her doorsteps to pick her up for their night out. After a nice long hot shower, Lola got dressed in a loose fitting long sleeved top and a pair of comfy pants. Once ready, she smiled at the woman that stared back at her in the mirror. When was the last time the seventy year old got ready for a date?
At the appointed time, her doorbell rang, signalling the arrival of Levi. She was impressed he was punctual. Well, she guessed being a cop, he could not afford to not be on time. As she headed for the door, her pets followed behind her. So when she opened the front door, the Great Dane leaped onto the man standing on her steps. "Oh, Macy!"

Levi took a deep breath, tuck his hands in his pockets and began rocking back and forth a few times as he waited. Within a few moments, he saw the door open to reveal Lola as well as a large dog leaping out at him. He managed to stumble back a bit, and caught some of the impact of the large dog that was now standing on its hind legs practically hugging Levi. His mind instantly recalled his last encounter with a Great Dane. He was just thankful this one wasn’t wet covered in soap.
After regaining his balance, Levi managed to push the dog off of him. He gave a smile to Lola, “Where was he went someone broke into your house?” He asked, his smile slowly turning into a crooked smirk. He adjust his tie and brushed off his shirt. “Are you ready my dear?” He asked as he extended his arm out for her to grab.
Her Great Dane certainly loved greeting visitors at the door. It was an overly active dog. The old woman chuckled at the exchange between the animal and the officer. She finally got a hold of her, though with difficulty since she did not have her collar on, and tried to usher her inside.
"I believe Macy was taking her lovely afternoon nap," said Lola Green as innocently as she could as he reminded her of the little stunt she pulled not long ago. "Just in a bit, deary." As much as she tried to get her pet inside, the dog was determined to stay outside. "You shouldn't let her hear you say that, she'd be heartbroken," she said good naturedly.
Finally, Macy obliged and the old lady got her pet inside. Taking her purse, she made her way out and locked the doors, so no one could break in. Heh. "Alright, where are we off to?"

The local waited patiently with a smile. He watched Lola get the large dog inside. He couldn’t help but picture her trying to walk the dog. It probably ends up walking her. He laughed inwardly at the thought. Axel and Luna would look so tiny next to Macy. Perhaps they could have a play date one day? Luna hadn’t been quite the same since he gave all of her puppies away. He hope with time she’d get better.
“Sure she was.” He replied with a soft chuckle. The woman was tenacious, he admired that about her. “Well maybe she can come next time. I can bring my dogs too. We can go to the park. All five of us. I think she’d enjoy that. Don’t you?” He said with a smirk growing by the minute.
Grabbing Lola’s arm, he lead them to his car. “Well. I made a reservation at a restaurant downtown. And afterwards. Well…who knows where the night will take us.” He said as he opened the passenger side door. “You look lovely by the way.”
Quickly, the old lady did the simple math in her head. "Oh you have two dogs? Yes deary, I think the five of us going to the park would be more than delightful!" She smiled at the thought. Since she moved to Kalispell not that long ago, she had not made much acquaintances. So the thought of walking dogs in the park with another -- and not alone -- was nice. "I don't suppose your dogs tolerate cats do they? I'd hate to leave Bebe out on the fun."
Once she had locked the doors to her house, Lola Green followed the officer as he lead her by the arm towards his car. The seventy year old giggled at the compliment. "Oh thank you deary. You look rather nice outside your uniform as well," she returned the compliment as she got into her seat.

He gave a nod and smiled, “Yes. Two dogs.” He didn’t feel like explaining the whole puppy situation. Sometimes he is still sadden by it. But he knows that they all went off to good homes. In the end, it was for the best. He was glad when he heard her accept his offer. It would be a nice way to stay in touch with her. There was no way this would be the last his saw of Ms. Green here. He contemplated her question, he honestly didn’t know how they would react. They had never been around a cat before. “I’m honestly not sure, but my dogs are well trained so I would be comfortable with it.” He admitted with a shrug. “I didn’t know you walked your cat?” He said smiling at the thought of a cat on a leash. What would happened if it decided to climb a tree? The thought was amusing.
It was interesting, in retrospect, that he had already planned a second outing without even starting the first one. He gave a smile, “Thank you.” He said as he helped the lady get in the car. He closed the door and made his way into the truck. He always found older people quite interesting. They always had the best stories. It was this assumption that had him tolerable to this night. He hoped she blab away. He’d learn her entire life story and be able to go back to his apartment with his personal life kept to himself.
He let out a chuckle. “We’re off!” He said looking at her before focusing his eyes on the road ahead. “So tell me. Did you grow up here?”
The seventy year old grinned and chuckled. Was it really that surprising that she walked her cat? "Yes, deary, I most certainly do! I'm not a fan of house cats, ya know. All they do is sleep and laze in the house. So if that's unhealthy for humans, why isn't it unhealthy for animals too, hmm?" Since she mostly walked her pets alone, she did not always have the energy to handle the two hyperactive pets. So whenever at the park, she would let them run as free as they wanted. Fortunately, they always return back to her. "I even take my tortoises on those walks."
The night was starting off quite enjoyable -- even if it had barely even begun -- and the fact that it hit off with Macy jumping on her date probably contributed to that. The thought brought a smile to her face. "Oh Mr. Wolfe, can't you tell from the accent, mate?" said Lola Green in her most thick Australian accent she could muster. It probably was not the best since it wore off over the years. "I wouldn't say it was recent but I moved here a while back. Say about four or five months ago. Yeah, that seems about right. You have a lovely town, officer."

The local let out a chuckle, “I suppose, but isn’t that what cats are? Lazy?” He asked completely amused by the conversation. He understood her reasoning, but he had always assumed cats were just lazy and did nothing but sleep and eat all day. The thought of an ‘active’ cat never really crossed his mind. “And a tortoise? That walk must talk forever!” He said with a grin.
When the lady spoke with a thick accent it had his smile growing bigger. His hazel eyes bounced between the road ahead and his date beside him. “Australia huh? What was like? You gave all that up to come to this little town, what an interesting choice.” He said kindly. Although he had traveled, Australia wasn’t a place on his list. Maybe one day.
“A few months, that’s not too long ago. Why the big move?”
"Oh, you!" She playfully swatted him on the arm. "I'll have you know that Bebe isn't lazy...She just tends to sleep all they from all the walking that she does." A giggled escaped her. The officer was not that far off. As much as she tried to keep the pet active, it did not stray far from its nature. "Not just a tortoise, Levi, but two!" Whenever she went to the park with her tortoises in their box, she received strange looks from passerby. But Lola Green was too old to care.
"Oh I've actually been in the states since I was about nineteen! I furthered my studies in a university somewhere in New York before moving to California," she said, smiling as she remembered why they moved. After marrying Joseph, the two moved to California to be closer with his family, her in laws. "I was there for quite some time. But now I'm here. As a favor for my nephew, to look after his daughter who is attending the Bellefonte academy." The smile wavered when she remembered her first encounter with Blair when she went to the school to see her. "I don't think kids her age like seeing their grandaunts on school grounds all that much."

Levi feigned a pained expression as if that swat actually hurt the young man. “No hitting the driver!” He said with a smile. He shook his head, “Well maybe you should do a little experiment. Stop taking her on walks for like a week and see if she naps less.” He suggested with a impish smirk. The lady was quiet entertaining. Levi took both of hands off of the wheel momentarily and placed them on his cheeks and turned to Lola with a exaggerated look of shock. “TWO?! Well then, don’t you have a nice little petting zoo going?” He said with a laugh and proceeded to place his hands back on the wheel.
The off duty officer kept his eyes on the road as he listened to Lola speak. He had enjoy her company thus far, and was truly looking forward to the rest of the evening. As she talked about part of her life he couldn’t help but wonder how his life had turned out if he had been born somewhere else, with a different family even. He shook the thought when she had mentioned the Academy. “Wow. That’s awesome.” He said thinking briefly of the time he had spent exploring Europe. “Teenagers tend to be embarrassed by anyone older than them.” He said with a shrug and a small chuckle. “So does that mean you have any special abilities I should concern myself with?” He asked, partially joking around, but also partially serious. He knew better than to bring that up, especially now a days where its such a damn sensitive topic. But if she had a relative in the academy, well she might very well be some cause for that.
As they pulled into the parking lot, Levi swiftly parked the car and got out, making sure to go around to open the door for his lovely date. They made their way into the restaurant and were seated immediately thanks to his reservation. He gave a small nod to the waiter who left after leaving the menus as well as some water. He smiled at Lola before looking down as his menu, “What are you in the mood for dear?”
A grin spread on the old lady's face at the suggestion he made. "If she is as lazy as you generalize all cats were, she might even sleep more! But I supposed a week of no walks with Bebe would not be a bad idea," she said with shrug. Anyone who had seen Lola Green walking her pets would know that the old lady probably had more pets than what she could handle. Especially when she brought Dolce and Gabana along with her. Her many pets did make it all feel like a petting zoo. "Well, who else was going to keep me company, hmm?" She waggled her eyebrows.
The seventy year old was not ignorant towards the bad blood between mutants and humans and how big of an issue it was right now, especially with the crazed anti mutant lady running for mayor. However, being a non powered, she was not offended one bit by his question. "I can impregnate men!" she exclaimed, letting out a witch's laugh for dramatic effect. "I'm practically as bland as they come. How about you, deary? Planning on setting this world on fire anytime soon?"
Lola smiled gratefully as the young man opened the door. "My, such a gentleman, you are," she noted as he helped her out. Once inside the nice looking restaurant, she was happy to learn that they were led to their table immediately. Phew. She would not have to stand unnecessarily. Her eyes gave a quick scan of the menu. Never being here before, she wondered what was good. "Hmmm what's tasty? Do you come here often?"

Levi found it hard to keep a straight face. Listening to Lola talk about her pets was entertaining. “Exactly my point.” He said with a chuckle. The woman’s next comment made him think a little more than it should have. The fact that she had all the pets wasn’t much of a surprise. Levi found comfort with Luna and Axel on more than one occasion. It was sad. Having no other type of companionship. “Your niece doesn’t visit you much?” He asked, but quickly followed up with his own answer, “Doesn’t matter, you got me now.”
As Levi’s eyes bounced between the woman and the road he was a bit apprehensive to hear her answer. But any fears he had were wipe clean when she spoke. He let out a chuckle. “That is terrifying if possible.” He said feeling a bit relieved that she still kept her sense of humor on that matter. “Nope. If I was planning on that I’d need a bunch of matches some fuel.”
The local took a sip of his water as his eyes scanned the menu. He looked up at Lola before answer her question, “Never been here actually. I figured I’d take a chance on the wild side tonight.” He said with a laugh. “The steak sounds good. Unless you don’t eat meat.” He said, finding himself wondering if the older woman who practically owned a zoo actually ate meat.
The smile on her face dropped a little at his question but it did not last long and it was back up when Levi said it did not matter. However, the fact that her grandniece rarely visited her sadden the old seventy year old who had no kids of her own. She supposed she should have seen it coming. Fifty years ago, her brother left for the bloody mutant academy too and rarely came home. So why fifty years later would Blair be any different. The reality of it was not a pretty picture but nevertheless, Lola Green was grateful for the company she had now.
In a foreign place, the old woman would gladly take any suggestions from someone who had eaten at the restaurant. But apparently the two was on the same boat. Lola chuckled at the thought. When he pointed out the steak, she took a quick look and read the steak options. "Oi, vegetarians are picky eaters in denial," she said in a joking manner. "Alright I think I'll have..." Her voice trailed off when she realized she had no idea on how to pronounce the fancy name. So instead she just pointed to the picture when the waiter came to take their order. "Ah, that one."

Levi kept drinking his water. Not wanted to tempt himself with his weakness. It helped that he had to drive later, and the fact that he had pleasant company. But the bland water was starting to get to him. He didn’t let it show.
He laughed at her joke, he had never looked at it that way. After she ordered, he told the waiter what he wanted and the waiter had left a small basket of bread and dipping oil between the two of them before he left.
When she asked about his family it took him a while to answer. He wanted to avoid talking about himself as much as he possibly could. But he knew eventually he’d have to divulge a little something to satisfy the old woman. He contemplated different responses, and found it hard to settle on one that would not initiate another slew of follow up questions. He could have said no, and just left it like that. Or, considering her humor he was considering a darker response. In the end he chose a simple one, but he had a feeling he wouldn’t get off easy. “Nope. Not anymore.” He gave a shrug and took a piece of the bread before drowning it in one of the oils.
Wanting to make sure the topic stayed off him he smiled at Lola, “So do you still work?”
