The ride to the hospital seemed to take forever. Even though he was well aware of the fact that they had been speeding through the town, running through every red light and stop sign they passed. He also knew that they were trying their best to save Alex. They ignored his question, which made him feel a bit uncertain about the matter. If she would be fine they would tell him, he took their silence as bad news. He knew they were trying their best, but it still didn’t seem like enough. Part of him wanted to jump out of the ambulance and chase after the assholes who decided to do such a heinous thing. It killed him a little bit to see her eyes that had been so full of life moments ago struggle to open and then finally gave up. He knew in his heart, that he couldn’t leave her side.
After the painstaking long trip, they pulled up to the hospital’s emergency exit and everything seemed to be moving at a rapid pace. With no second to be lost they had managed to get her out of the ambulance and into the operating room. All that was left for Levi was to wait. To take a seat in a plain chair, in a plain room, surrounded by people who were all waiting for the same thing: good news.
He trusted that she was in good hands. That the doctors knew what they were doing. Levi paced around for a few minutes before caving in and taking a seat. He rested his elbows on his knees and buried his face into the palms of his hands. Wasn’t there something he could have done? He had been soon caught up in the show she had been putting on that he was utterly immerse in the moment. There was no way he could hear the car or the words that they people spat in hatred. He felt completely useless then, and more so even now.
All he wanted was for her to pull through and make it out of this. He needed her too. But all he could do for now was wait.
