Levi’s hazel eyes went wide. The girl who had ran away from him years ago was now hugging him, buried in his chest. He felt her shiver, and he remained quiet. There was nothing to say. He hugged the girl tighter too him. Sometimes you just needed to cry, sometimes you just needed to be hugged. He remained still and quiet. Letting her get out everything she needed to. He was there, he wasn’t going to let anything happen to her. She was safe.
When the girl spoke, the officer nodded. “Of course. I just need to get this guy in my car.” He said, pointing to the guy knocked out behind him. “Just a few more…” Before Levi could even finish the sentence he heard the man shout some profanity. Immediately Levi turned to look at the man, but he was too late. The man was already on his feet, covered in blood, trying to shake the handcuffs off. He stumbled around a bit before charging right in the direction of Levi and Fiona. The officer swiftly moved the girl out of the way as the man came right at them slurring and cursing. Eyes wide, Levi was focused. His heart was pounding and the second the man came for them Levi took two steps to the right and stuck out his leg. The man cursed some more before being silenced by the ground smacking full forced into his face. Whether if it was the correct thing to do or not he didn’t care. He looked back at Fiona. “You okay?”
Levi crouched down to the man and lifted his head up. The man spat out a red tooth, his face drenched in his own blood. “You are under arrest for the attempted murder of a man, and attempted assault of an officer. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be provided to you. Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you?” Voice calm and steady, Levi waited patiently before that man gave a slurred fuck you. Good enough. He shrugged and hoisted the man to his feet. He looked behind him. “Stay behind me. My car’s not too far.”
