Their gaze seemed to hold for quite a bit before Anna broke it and responded. Nikolai's smile widened and he finished off his coffee before nodding to her. "They are very nice. I enjoy speaking with them before the night starts. They would like you, I think. I hope you can be friends with them." He voiced with a shrug. It was entirely up to Anna what she did, but making friends with the other workers would surely help her fit in much more easily. And if anything ever happened, they had each others' backs.
After that there was a comfortable silence but Nikolai could see some sort of turmoil going on behind that cool and collected gaze of hers. Nikolai really didn't know if she was afraid of him or just really really shy. From what she had seen so far she appeared to be an introvert so maybe that was it. Still, she was still talking to him and sitting with him. That counted for something in his book. Although right now they seemed to be at a standstill. He glanced down at his book and had an idea.

Wake Me Up
When it's all over.
Anna didn't comment on what he said about them liking her. Very rarely did people "like" her, though to be honest she had done that on purpose. The fewer people poking around "checking" on her, the less likely it was anyone was, A, going to figure out what she was, and, B, the less likely any personal relationships would come out of it. The pity usually written on other peoples faces when she fell from one of her migraines was enough to make anyone feel like a weak child whom couldn't care for themselves. However, Nikolai hadn't looked at her with pity. More worry than anything, which made absolutely no sense to her.
Than again she was noticing a lot of people in this city whom went outside the norm for what she was use to from people in a general sense. There was a lengthy silence, in which she decided she must have finally put the male off. Something she hadn't been trying to do for a change, but was inevitable regardless. So, instead of breaking the silence, she focused fully on her closed laptop nearby, and sipped the hot coffee cupped between her palms, waiting for what might happen.
What she didn't expect was another question, causing her to blink up at him, than down at the book in his hand, before she lifted her own hand and gently clasped her fingers around the back of her neck, eyebrows lifted over both clear blue eyes.
"Read?" As if it were a foreign word, and she internally cursed herself for just repeating him in response, instead clearing her throat and bringing out more of a sentence than an awkward confusion filled word. "Yeah. Well I spend a lot of time alone, so reading, movies..." She nodded her head towards the book he was holding. "What are you reading there?"
She had a very odd need for this conversation to continue. Not because she particularly felt comfortable telling anyone everything about her, but because she found she actually quite liked Nik's company...which was in and of itself terrifying, to say the least.

She didn't comment when he mentioned the others liking her. he honestly did think that the others would like her if she gave them a chance. She just seemed very.... shy. Or at least not one of the most sociable people Nikolai had ever met. But he could understand that, considering he would clam up the moment someone started asking about his past. There was the silence for a time before Nikolai spoke up and asked his question. Anna seemed surprised by it, repeating part of what he asked.
Nikolai waited patiently for her to answer, and he nodded once she had. When she asked about his book, he glanced down at it. "Steelheart. It's alright so far. Has to do with people having super powers and a resistance force overthrowing one man named Steelheart. It's not as big as some books I've read, but it's good enough." He said before glancing back up at her. "Do you have any favorite books? Or movies perhaps?"

Wake Me Up
When it's all over.
Ann frowned softly at his description of the book, her head tilting a bit to the side as she considered the premise of it. In truth she'd stayed relatively far away from supernatural books. Not so much because she was, in essence, supernatural herself, but because they tended to make her feel like some sort of freak of nature. Only not as awesome as superman. Her lips twitched at the thought, and she cleared her throat at his next question.
This actually made her smile. A fully blown grin, lips parting over white teeth, her eyes averted as she lifted a hand and hid it behind her palm, giving her head a shake. "If I told you what kind of movies I like, you'd laugh." She finally commented, her hand rubbing over her mouth as she slowly managed to reign in the smile, her eyes trailing back from where she'd been staring across the room.
"I watch old movies...well not just old movies. Like..uhm. Quirky, old movies I guess? Like Rocky Horror Picture show, or Little Shop of Horrors." She shrugged her shoulders and pursed her lips against one another, before flashing him a smile. this one was considerably smaller than her previous one, but it was there nonetheless.
